America in the late 1920s. On January 17, 1920 Prohibition began in America, and it is still in effect. The fact that Alcohol is illegal doesn't stop the people from demanding it. Bootlegging gives rise to big criminal organisations.
On the same time Waves of immigrants crash to the shores of New York. Benito Mussolini and his fascists cause thousands of people to flee from Italy, bringing with them their culture and heritage. Also great numbers of Jews want to escape Nazi Germany.
It is a time in which crime is higher and more profitable than ever.

Job: Antonio does every job he can get his hands on to care for his family. Most of the time however he works at the docks, carrying crates or sorting papers.

Background: Antonio was born in a rural area of Sicily to a poor family. He was the fifth child and never got much attention. His father was a drunk and his mother, a rural beauty, had more than one lover on the side. Antonio always hoped that one day he would give his family a better life. He fought one year in the trenches of World War 1, however had the luck to survive till it was over. When he was 19 he married his long time love Maria, a also very poor Sicilian girl. She got pregnant not very much later and gave birth to what would be their only child, Anna Favaloro. Even though Antonio had no real education, he did have a problem with Mussolini when he rose to power and since they had nothing left in Sicily he decided to leave. When they left Antonio was in his early thirties and his little daughter just turned eleven. They took the next ship to America to start a new life.
New York was the greatest city that Antonio ever saw. The part where they lived however was crowded, dirty and poor. So Antonio started working day and night, while his wife Maria cared for their daughter. that went on for 7 years, till Maria fell ill. Antonio never feared anything as much as loosing his precious family, and was willing to do everything for them. And that is where our Story begins...

Talents: Antonio knows how to handle a gun from his time in the war. His most useful attribute however is his intellect, he is quite smart and his open and mostly happy character helps him to make new friends.

Background: Born in Sicily, only daughter to Antonio Favaloro and his wife Maria, she arrived in NY with her parents when she was eleven; she remembers very little about Sicily. A few months ago, fate struck and took her beloved mother. Her father has not been the same since mama died, and she feels she must be strong for him. For both. She adores her father: she thinks he is a hero, and doesn’t believe the stories people tell about him. To her, he is the kindest, warmest, most generous man on the planet.
She misses her mother very much, and she goes to the cemetery almost every day to put fresh flowers on her grave.

Talents: Having an easygoing disposition by nature, she usually gets along with everyone. She is a very good listener, and makes people feel comfortable around her. Sometimes, too comfortable, for people tend to tell her things they wouldn’t tell anyone else. She has been through a lot lately, and is a little tired of everything, but she is strong and she can work under a strain.

Background: Alessandro was born in Roma to a middleclass family, he had everything he could ever want and yet he found it wasn’t enough. His mother was a house wife whilst his father owned a shoe factory. However with the outbreak of WW1 his father was called up and tragically died in the trenches when he was young. However they kept their wealth as his mother remarried to the manager of her husbands factory who simply took it over and continued to run it. When he was 10 he had already started his first business, selling sweets to the other kids and then he would get the older kids to beat them up and take the sweets back to sell again. Others got into trouble and yet his report always said ‘Model Student’. When he was 18 he was enrolled in Roma University where he created a ring of porn and cigarette selling. Teachers and students alike were paying top dollar for their sins. Having been raised a Roman Catholic it was here at university he decided that religion had no place. Here were well educated and faithful men indulging in their sins all for pleasure. No god had struck them down and all of them had good futures to go to. When he was 21 he had finished a course in economics and decided that a change of scenery was in need. His mother was becoming increasingly short tempered with him and he felt as in any welcome or warmth was fading fast. One night he snuck into the family office and after rearranging the records and finances a large proportion of the money was ‘invested’ or ‘lost’. After this he made his way to America.
In New York Alessandro worked from the word go. He initially began by buying and selling property however he found that the returns took to long to reach him and that his money was dwindling on projects. Deciding that he should do what he does best he bought a run down old bar and began a revamp. ‘Alessandro’s’ was up and running within a few months and began quite profitably, however the money was still coming in too slowly and he was becoming bored. Soon after however Alessandro came in contact with the Stalore family. The Stalore’s needed somewhere to meet, plan and sometimes hideout and ‘Alessandro’s’ was the perfect place. For a large sum of money every month Alessandro only had to provide his backroom and storeroom whenever it was needed. As time went on Mussolini came to power and more and more Italians fled to America, some of which came from families there and were looking for similar work. Alessandro began to become the contact between those looking for work and the Stalore family and for each man that became made he got a little bonus as well as another friend within the family. He also finds well paid work for those who are looking to become made men but the families haven’t taken an interest, yet.
