Sort of. It was a teenaged girl who was with her mom. Probably 15 or 16. We had leftover Easter Candy at the counter at a discount, and the only things that were left over were chocolate crosses and chocolate praying hands.

And then the girl seemed to have an epiphany. "So that's why..."

"Yup, Easter was a couple weeks ago, so,,," I responded, guessing she was talking about the good price.

"No, no. It must be because church was on Sunday too,"

I didn't quite follow at first. And after her mother said something I don't quite recall, she blurted out "EASTER IS BECAUSE OF THE CHURCH!?"

And then I laughed in her face.

It's always really weird for me when I meet somebody who's so out-of-touch. I tend to try to empathize, but sometimes it's difficult.

To be fair easter and most other holidays aren't really 'because of the church' at this point. I mean it's not like jesus was passing out chocolate rabbit poop, or at least, not in a costume.
