Wow okay, I didn't know we were actually already marking territory. If that was the case, I would have already posted my planned nation location waaay before all of this XD

For the two that already marked their places, sorry I didn't release this sooner, but thankfully it seems my nation doesn't take any gigantic or dramatic chunks out of either of yours. I will post a picture to show where the edits would have to be made and see if you guys are fine with it.

As far as I'm concerned, that's fine. Perhaps one of Qalimeq's losses in the last war was some of the territory we both wanted? Meaning your nation would have won a conflict with Qalimeq in the last war, thus giving us both instant grudges against one another (one for losing land; one for hating religious folk).

Yeah cool! I'm game for that. I'll PM you and we can talk about the tasty filling to that history.

Heyo guys! Glad to see some progress has been made without me! That makes me feel good because I have a busy schedule and can't always hop on multiple times a day. I'm cool with the map decision, so number 6/3 it is! Also, @Kilo's remark of land picking: Territories get picked in the order of completed NS's. So seeing as you were third (I still have to look at your NS btw - though I am not too worried about it as I know you) you would get third pick. Which seems to have worked out perfectly so that is awesome, I just wanted to clarify lol.

Also, I had another idea. Since odds are there will be some room left over, on the map, and I don't want some psychotic imperialistic land grab going on all the time, would you guys like to input some NPC nations/city-states/tribes/etc? This way you can't just colonize everything around you and it could add for some more interactions. These NPC states don't have to have crazy depth, I just ask that if you make one it doesn't become a puppet for your own gains. Treat them like you would any other nation that would be controlled by another character. If you want them say "yay" in your next post, if not say "nay." These NPC nations can also be influenced by anyone, so just because you invented it does not mean you are its god.

I'm working on my nation NS now, still torn for a race idea... I don't want to be OP but I also want to be new and original so it is hard to come up with some cool stuff.

I still have that race of goblins that I can present as an NPC idea. They'd very much be about using toxins, poisons, and disease in war rather than traditional methods, and be more guerrilla fighters than anything. Also, giant beetle mounts and riding wasps. I'll get to work on them.

Note: They shouldn't tread on Sigma's suggested idea much because they're not a hive mind or really that advanced; they're little dudes with spears and blowguns and poisons.

I might be willing to come up with one or two NPC nations for use when I'm done with my NS.

I perhaps should have asked about this already, but in my nation's history its lost a significant portion of its territory, I was intending to, when I get to select where my nation would be on the map, also put down some of those independent states. Sort of like what Meeky did with the Qalimeqi Puppet States (though these states and my nation would probably be somewhat hostile to each other). Even with that there would be lots of left over empty room in the world, which would already be populated. Though whether large imperial powers care for what these populations think remains to be seen.

I like the idea of the Goblin nation Meeky suggested too. It'd make sense that not all nations are industrialised.

HOLY EMPIRE OF DENZGRAAD

Name of Nation: Holy Empire of Denzgraad
Flag: See above.
Demonym of Nation: The Denz, Denz.
Race Description: Humans
Nation Location: See map below.
Description of Nation: Steeped in tradition, the Holy Empire of Denzgraad is a large and monarchistic nation that comprises over six former kingdoms on the Denzgraadic subcontinent. The nation, though considered one of the Great Powers along with the Qalimeqi Empire, it is quickly falling behind and the Qalimeqi threaten to usurp their influence in the region. The Holy Crown fears change and has taken on the recent clockwork and steamwork inventions of the new world with a cautious hand, for fear that the oppressed serfs of the land might find new tools from which to rise. The Denzgraad utilize clockwork technology only within the royal circles and as a display of modernism has added it to their flag, but the majority of the people within the nation are still woefully unaware of these new inventions existence.

While the power of it's neighbor, the Qalimeqi Empire has risen and waned, Denzgraad has steadily increased in power as the centuries of feudalism has ended and turned to the industrial era. With the last great downfall of the Qalimeqi Empire and Denzgraad has announced it's recent superiority as a Great Power, but this is largely in name only, with the greatest thinkers of astronomy, medicine and clockwork still reside in Qalimeqi, Denzgraad instead remains home to an abundance of untapped natural resources and a huge manpower pool.
Government of Nation: Empire -- Absolute Monarchy.
Capital of Nation: Varcia, Population, 12,500,000.
Population of Nation: 105,000,000 (92,000,000 are serfs living in rural areas).
Economy of Nation: The vast land of Denzgraad have turned it into a huge agrarian breadbasket, the likes of which uses to feed it's immense population. The three mountain ranges Karvalov, Kuzechenko's and the Darlov all provided precious metals that are often exported across the Small Sea to the Qalimeqi Empire and neighboring states. The Denzgraad Empire is a centralized, mercantile based economy that seeks to establish dominance of it's monopolies while minimizing it's imports.
Nation's Major Exports: Iron, Steel, Gold, Silver, Grain, Wood.
Nation's Major Imports: Machine Parts, Firearms, Sugar, Exotic Goods.
Nation's Military Description: The Empire's military is split into three sections:

-- White Army: The largest in the world, numbering in at over three and a half million soldiers, the White Army is a proverbial paper tiger. Officers are given commission based on their wealth instead of their skill, and soldiers are trained relatively haphazardly. Steamtanks number at less than 5,000 and the Denzgraad still see their horse driven cavalry as the corps d'espirit within the army. However, few would readily invade Denzgraad at seeing how large their standing army is.
-- White Navy: The White Navy is no paper tiger, and Denzgraad prides itself on it's seaborne fleets, of which there are five -- totaling over two hundred fourty ships, with over sixteen dreadnoughts as the pride of the White Navy. Steam filled harbors keep the destroyers, cruisers and dreadnoughts at top notch quality year round, even at the expense of Imperial coinage.
-- White Air Corps: The White Air Corps remains in it's infancy, with only ten airships of a very basic design and a handful of observation dirigibles also in active service. These designs are purchased Qalimeqi designs, as the Denzgraad engineers themselves could not quite master the art of flight themselves.

NOTE: I'd like to make up most of the small subcontinent across from the inlet sea of the Qalimeqi Empire. I'll try and get a picture up but my Photobucket is being obstinate.

I like it, Mother Russia.... er.... I mean Mother Denzgraad.

And, I was trying to compile the Arkil Federation and mine own nation as best I could on the map that Novgrod and Meeky's Qalimeqi are on so we could have one map with all the nations, but there is quite a bit of overlap between land claimed by Novgrod and Arkil.

Done to the best of my ability in paint here it is compiled. As far as I could tell there were some overlaps between Arkil and Novgrod, and Arkil and Qalimeqi. I put down what I would life to have as the URSR of Seratenland's land. And I'm assuming Denzgraad will be to the south and east of me based on description but I didn't want to be put anything down for you Demo.

I'd probably just put "Disputed" over that region until the two parties came to an agreement were I in your shoes. Or a simple "?" would do the trick, too. Oh, and remember that the regions overlapping between Qalimeq and Arkil are being conceded to Arkil.

EDIT: Hmm... I wonder if Denzgraad and Qalimeq have had any large wars in the past. Maybe that's why Qalimeq's navy is so small now, considering the vast size of Denzgraad's.

Should the far eastern continents of the map be the New World?

I think it'd be a cool concept for potential colonization as well as Industrial vs Tribal societies.

Personally, I was going to drop the Goblins somewhere in the middle of all the big nations so that there'd be this disease, plagued mess in the midst of everything (if I had a say in the matter, that is; I assume no control). They'd make a perfect sort of hostile-to-everyone territory that people had to slog through to throw punches at each other.

That works. We need some NPC nations in which to create political drama and get the fuse lit. (Serbia in WWi, Poland in WWII, Cuba in the Cold War, et cetera).

We have the Byzantines, Nordic Dwarves, Communists and Russia, and Angelic England.
Since we also have elves in the making, I guess I'll go with selkie/mermaid/fish-face Edo Japan.
Cool Coral daikatanas vs. industrial-grade firearms? What could go wrong!

P.S. DEMoGorgon47, we should totally just join forces (read: cheat) and make a collaborative supernation.

I did read that, the only problem is in paint if I erase your borders to try to make things nice (not that my paint skills are capable of such) then it also erases the actual map layer underneath. I suppose I'll just start from scratch with a clean map? But the territorial overlap of Arkil and Novgrod is still unresolved.

Another russian themed country and a border dispute my to do list is piling up but as for the disput kilo i am willing to negotiate it
(also dangraazd i would like to know your location as so i can being my conquest and be the ultimate russian themed nation muhahahah err. i mean so i can figure out a concrete trade route to ensure friendly relations between our nations :P)

EDIT: and as for the other happenings i would be glad to have the eastern land a kinda new world idea so we can have the whole colonial warfare etc and as for minor nations/ city states to act as npc i like the idea as it would get rid of all the empty space on the map
Edit: also loling at the realization of denzgraad boasting of the largest land army even though mine is about litterally 10,000 under 4,000,00 (this is made from the addition of armored cavalry cavalry and infantry divisions) :P
