Nothing particularly useful, unfortunately... I have a vague idea in my head in that the demon might be sent to kill the human for whatever reason, and instead begins feeling sympathy for them or whatever.

That works , or sent to torcher the poor male and he does for awhile before he stops and tries to help the boy, thing is demons that give orders to others to do that don't take it nicely when they are disobeyed
