"God damn it!" the man yelled, slamming down his fist.

"This is not McDonald's coffee, I can tell, do you think I was born yesterday?"

The young caretaker they had sent for Samson was shaking in his boots, as the old man let out a harsh chuckle. He liked messing with the boy as life was more often than not lonely and boring besides the souls he kept in the house with them. He had offered them all places to rest and dwell in the home. They didn't have really anywhere else to go after all. Only the other souls could see them, and Samson of course. As the caretaker wrapped up his other duties and went home, a young woman was coming up the sidewalk, a look of worry on her face.

As the woman sat down and talked with Samson for a bit, he grabbed her hand and nodded his head. "It's okay, we will take care of it." she scurried away from the home and got into a car and left as quickly as she came. Samson looked over the folder the woman had given him, filled with photos of her husband, where he went to work, what his connections were.

Eventually Samson would ring a small buzzer alerting that all the souls were to report down into the office area where he would speak to them about the next case. "Good morning." she said as he looked around the room. Most were women of lately, which saddened Samson. He had seen so many people come and go through the Rising Sun that patterns eventually shown themselves. "Some of you are new here, so you know I must go over the protocol as per usual." He laid out the paperwork for them to look at and pass around. "He's been abusing his wife and her daughter for the last few years. He works late nights at the shipyard moving boxes and the like. He's strong and smart so he's not going to die stupidly. You know no one can see you, and people can feel you but a floating weapon is suspicious and it might ultimately come back to me, which we can't have. You have to use your wits, and your team work to make this work." Samson nodded, taking a sip from his coffee as he looked around the room.

"You know we have a five strike penalty here, every task you decline you will deteriorate a little bit more until you are nothing more than a pile of ash." he looked around, fresh new faces, everyone at their highest marks. Each person would have to accept this task, and work together as a team if they wanted to continue on with the day. If they declined they would lose a bit of themselves. Thankfully with most cases of abuse, people agreed without hesitation.

Danielle Coventry

Location: Nursing Home
Interacting With: No one

Danielle placidly sat by the window sill, looking outwards as she periodically reached up to feel her face. Her fingers felt cool as they brushed against her sickly pale cheeks, or was that just the air from the AC? But still, despite not being able to feel anything, Danielle shuddered. This was for real, no amount of denial or pinching herself was going to wake her up from this unreal nightmare.

She swore she could still feel the poisonous concoction swirling in her, thrashing against her walls trying to come up but Danielle seemed to be incapable of puking and so the feeling remained as a sort of reminder of her stupidy. Danielle flicked her tired eyes at the old man who sat in that oversized chair right after he scared out another nurse, she groaned and slumped further while staring blankly at that man. Was this really purgatory or was this hell just with a smiley sticker on it? So many questions, so little answers.

Time slipped by Danielle's fingers like quicksilver, hours seemed to whizz by while seconds somehow felt like they dragged on for eternity. Danielle was slowly losing her mind as days went by and nurses scurried in and out. Danielle now spent her time passively looking at the world that went by her, feeling sicker every time she thought of everything she was missing out on. She sighed and slumped further.

Her interest was only ever so slightly piqued when she saw a woman walk in, holding what seemed like a folder. Danielle stared at her with the faintest sensation of curiosity as she whispered to the old man in the chair and then hurried out. Danielle watched her leave with dull lifeless eyes before sitting up, her posture still loose and heavily leaning on the wall.

She only barely stayed focused for long enough to hear some snippets of the briefing, but it basically all just distilled down to "obey or die". Danielle squinted her eyes at the man, almost as if to dare him while she continued to judge every inch of his body, she still had no idea what to think of this man. But nonetheless, Danielle nodded and agreed to the mission. She didn't care enough to rebel, she didn't care enough to ask questions, it was a miracle she cared enough to actually show up.
