Keep these first wake up scenes short please.

I move my hand toward my head, an aching pain surges straight through my head. Every second I gain more and more awareness to the situation. "The bus... it's flipped? What Happened?" "HELLO?" I grab my seat and lift myself up. "Thank god there was no on on the other side of the bus in my row, I would have been crushed. Broken glass beneath my feet crumbles. My boots take the brunt of there stabs. I look around some people on the floor."Are they dead?"I move over to the first person I see. Some guy is sprawled out on the ground, "I think he's dead?". I can't help my wonder so I stagger over. The pain in my head hasn't gone away yet. "It hurts so bad." I kneel agonizingly "HELLO?" I shake his body. @Undying CuriosityYou take the wheel.

God fucking damnit...what just happened? I think dazedly.

I open my eyes to to sound of someone screaming and a hot knife of pain slashes straight through my mind. I groan, peeling myself off the floor as best I can. That is to say, not well. My scrabbling fingers slide across a jagged shard of glass and I gasp as a small cut opens up in my finger. I gasp more out of surprise than pain, but it's going to make it harder to press on things with that finger in the future, and I narrow my eyes in annoyance, belatedly realizing that I'm actually on the pavement, halfway through glass doors that are mercifully completely gone.

Hang on, there are other people here beside HELLO guy. Shit, they look...pained.

Whoever it is yells again, and the pain intensifies again. Goddamnit, isn't it bad enough already?

"Shut the fuck up!" I grit out through a painful mouth, tasting blood. My lip is split, and I still haven't figured out how to lift myself out of this fucking door with what little dexterity I have after taking such a hard blow to the head.

Sydney groans as her vision swims into view. What the f&*$.... She groans and sits up, shaking her head and hearing the tinkling of glass shards falling from her electric blue hair. She grabs onto a nearby seat and hoists herself up off her back and into a seated position. She groans and rubs the heels of her hands into her eyes.
F*$& me... My head feels like I took all of Jimmy's stache and drank the bar dry...
Oy! Any of you f*$&heads know what the f&$& just happened?! What the hell is going on!?
She looks around at the people nearby, her hand inching towards her backpack which contains her guns and other items.

My ears could only perceive the annoying ringing of bells as pain made itself known throughout my body. Awareness filled me as I was assaulted with a vision most confusing. The seats were on top of me. Seats weren’t supposed to be on top of me. I was supposed to be on top of them. Then came the pain, as if every muscle in me was pulled and I was forced to exercise after years of inactivity and stagnation. It was disorienting as I lifted my arms in front of my face, its sound missing as the bells continued its unholy chime. There were scratches on them, my sleeves raining some glittery shards. I put my arms down and rolled so my belly was under me. I took that opportunity to push myself, glittery shards that now looked to be glass digging in my palms, the sting of pain flooding my mind.

Slowly, mercifully, the ringing seemed to lessen and be replaced with human voices. It was still a mess of sounds, as if someone was speaking under water. I shook my head and turned my attention to where it originated. There, a girl. A woman. Female. Stuck in a window. Or was it a door? It was definitely a door. Of course it was a door. It was across the driver’s seat. I shook my head as I looked for my cross-body bag that was in arms reach. How it was removed from my body was a mystery since I didn’t want to contemplate about it anymore. Slowly, I attempted to stand up only to fall on my knees as my strength left me. Not wanting to get hurt, I pulled the decorative scarf from my neck and wrapped both my hands on them and proceeded to crawl on the floor.

I approached the girl-woman and made to wave. The woman-girl looked pretty bad but she probably didn’t need to know that. Instead, I started to say. “Hey. I’m Al. Alva. You okay? Need help?” I didn’t know how to help but I’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. Hopefully the girl who was stuck would know how.

I winced as someone approached me, asking if I needed help. Well GEE. I wonder. It's not like I'm stuck halfway through a glass door or anything. If thoughts could be described as sarcastic, then mine were. Still, I wasn't an idiot. If someone comes up and offers me help in a situation like this, I'd have to be a total dumbass to turn it down. I turn my face up to hers, grunting and wincing at the sudden spike in head pain. Again. My split lip was still running with blood, and aside from putting a highly unpleasant coppery taste in my mouth, I'm sure it looked like I'd just got the shit beaten out of me.

Well, I mean, I sort of did. By a pole. And a door.

Who knows, maybe I was an idiot. My first unconscious thought upon seeing my unknown savior was wow, she's pretty hot. 'Course, in about a millisecond I'd refocused on my situation and mentally berated the shit out of myself, grunting out a few strained sentences. "You could say that, yeah. Turns out that being stuck halfway through a glass door is a fairly unpleasant experience. Who knew?" My deadpan semi-humor was probably lost on her. Whatever. It's not like it was intentional. Conditioned reflex and all that, honed from years of stickin' it to the man in the city streets. "Think you could do me a solid and maybe break off some of the glass on the edges of the doorframe so I can get myself out without cutting myself to fuckin' shreds?"

Almost as an afterthought, I add, "By the way, I'm Tori. You got any idea what happened to cause this shitshow?"

'I'm awake, but I feel like I'm coming out of a coma right now, what's going on? Why is it so hard to move right now?' the muffled voice of a man, possibly a younger one, crept into my head ever so slowly. It seemed like if I just focused on his voice long enough the ringing In my ears would stop and my eyes, which felt glued shut, would finally open. The first words I heard were nothing but indistinct noises, but come the second time around, the HELLO? was more clear. Just open them! Open your eyes and figure out what happened! my eye lids flickered open and after the initial 10 seconds of blurred vision, my eyes started to come into focus.

My first sight, after my eyes adjusted, was a young man hovering over me."hi..." A much needed cough sprang out of my mouth without warning. My eyes shifted around nervously, looking at the wreckage around me. My arms stagger a bit as I plant my hands down on the broken window beneath me pushing myself up to a sitting position. The adrenalin and sudden change of scenery helped me ignore the pain in my left arm and the minor cuts that would soon be scattered across my palms. "What's happening right now? What happened to the bus?" A stupid question to ask. I realized this man is in the same situation As me, trying to get information from him seemed a bit futile. But, if he caught a glimpse at the car or other bus that hit us or something, maybe it would put my mind at ease a bit.

"Wow my head hasn't hurt this bad since..." My thoughts trailed off as I opened my eyes. At first I didn't know what I was seeing. I then realized it was glass crumbled all over the ground of... Where was I last? A bus? I saw shattered glass all over the floor of the bus. My body ached and I couldn't quite remember what happened. I sat up from the ground and looked around.

The first thing she saw was a woman approaching another who was stuck in the door. What the-! I need to go help them! was all I could think as I lifted myself from the ground using a nearby pole. I could feel little pieces of glass sticking to my back and the back of my legs. I tried to walk as fast as I could to the woman in distress. Shards of glass tinkled out of my hair as I walked- well, stumbled- to the two women.

The one in the door seemed pretty calm, something Ally wasn't sure she could do if she were half through a door. The other woman had a scarf protecting her hands. "Dang, wish I had thought of something like that," she thought, looking at her own hands that were sliced and bleeding.

"Here, I can break the glass, I'm already beat up anyway," I said, figuring after this I could just hit the hospital. I reached into my pocket, pulled out my phone, and hit the glass, not wanting to send it flying into the faces of anyone near, but also not wanting the woman in the door to continue suffering either. As the final pieces of glass tumbled to the ground, I offered, "My name is Ally. I don't remember how the crash happened, but I'm sure the bus crashed. Uh... I don't know where the police or ambulances are, but I'm sure they'll be here soon.

Shit. Ow, ow, ow.

"I really didn't need another head wound," I mutter as a shard of glass scrapes across my forehead, slicing a tiny bleeding slit above my right eye. It's not a serious wound, but it's going to be annoying to constantly have blood going into my eye. Anyway, now that the glass is out of the way, I brace my hands on the side, grunting in irritation and pain as my aching arms lever me up to a roughly standing position. I step up, finally freeing myself from that damn door. Now that my arms are free, I rub my temples, wincing at the still-constant headache. Christ. This sucks.

"Thanks, then, Ally," I mumble grudgingly at the woman. "Tori." I survey the scene. The bus is on it's side, having flipped over. Now that I look at it, it seems like a blessing that I didn't fuckin' die. I take a moment to wipe blood out of my eye—I can already tell that this is going to get annoying real fast—and try to figure a way out of this bus. I'm already starting to feel claustrophobic, and if I'm not out of here within the next ten minutes, tops, I think I'm going to flip shit.

Windows? Either too high or on the pavement. Same for door. Roof hatch? I wordlessly maneuver my way over the seats and grab the handle on the roof safety hatch, yanking it to the side. Nothing. Must've gotten stuck somehow. Fan-fucking-tastic.

"Hey," I croak in a passable imitation of a yell, "anyone near the back of the bus want to see if the backside can still open up?"

Small laughter bubbled past my lips as I heard the girl I was trying (and currently) failing to help respond with sarcastic words. It came without warning and I immediately tried my best to school my features to avoid offense. I definitely knew that being laughed at while in a bad spot made for a horrible feeling. “Sorry about that.” I said as I shuffled closer to her in hopes to be of assistance. “It was funny.” My eyes widened in realization and I raised my hand up to… to, I didn’t know, surrender? “What I meant was that what you said was funny. Not the-- the situation. The situation’s horrible.”

Shaking my head, I turned to said current situation at hand. She needed my help to break off said glasses and probably do it in a way that didn’t hurt her any further. “Sure. I can do that, I think.” I answered her request. I lifted my hand to reach for my bag but found air, a frown coming to my face upon realizing that I didn’t pick up the bag that was next to my seat that should already be strapped across my shoulders. I stopped my covered palms filled with glass shards from hitting my face upon realizing my sheer idiocy.

While she -- Tori -- gave her name, I took that opportunity to mask my stupidity by answering her question. “I don’t remember exactly but I know something hit us or we hit something.” Awesome job there Captain Obvious. I really need a way to help remove those glasses without hurting myself before she notices I’m buying time. “It was pretty fast, too, I think.”

An unlikely savior came in the form of a brown-haired woman with equally brown eyes offering to break the glass. Yes! Although the fact that her hand was pretty banged up was concerning. “Speaking of police and ambulances,” I muttered absently as I attempted to stand up and found strength in there finally, “I’ll try dialing them up. Never called before and they might be here already but it wouldn’t hurt to try, right? Be right back. I’m Alva, by the way.” I added absentmindedly as Ally introduced herself to us. As I walked away from the two and went towards my previous seat, I hefted my bag across my shoulders and picked up my phone.

Dialing the authorities resulted in nothing, saying that the line was too busy. I dialed it again and again and it only resulted into the same line. I simply pocketed my phone as I made my way towards Tori and Ally, pleased that the former was now standing about and looked to be filled with energy as she yanked the roof hatch and failed to open it. It must be stuck. A sigh escaped my lips. Closed spaces suck but at least I have people here with me. I probably would’ve either freaked out by now and cried or did some dangerous miraculous bullshit like climbing on the seats and whacking the window open even if it meant glass shards raining down dangerously on me.

Shaking my head of that particular imagination and keeping it in mind for the worst case scenario of being unable to escape this particular event, I decided to catch their attention, waving a handkerchief and unopened water bottle towards Ally with my left hand. “For your wounds and shi-- stuff. Might stop the bleeding or at least make sure it’s not infected.” Then I turned to Tori, giving her my pack of half-empty tissue napkins to clean herself with. Something she’d probably like considering the blood on her face. It wasn’t a lot, but in my humblest opinion, having even a speck of blood in anyone’s face should be considered ‘a lot’. “Here you go.”

The Guy mutters "Hi" then gets up into a sitting position. I notice my commotion has woken some other passengers, a girl voices some mean comment, others start congregating by the door where someone seems to have gotten stuck, they look to have got it handled but I try and see it done. "What's happening right now? What happened to the bus?" the man mutters. "Couldn't say if I tried. Lucky it looks like no one died. No rhyme intended. Here Lets get you up." Was the humor really necessary? Meh some other guy laughed. We can think of what happened after we get out. Man I feel very rested, have I been out long?

I look up to see the orange-reddish daylight shine through little by little, it could be morning or afternoon. My head pains again, the others continue talking. Some yelling is done by the same girl from earlier though she makes a valid point. It seems the exits are not working. I look around quickly. It seems the driver is nowhere to be found, and a gaping hole through the glass that was supposed to be in front of him is gone. The size of the hole looks a little small but we could use it. "There... there is are way out!" I yell then flinch, my whole jaw ached I probably hit it in the crash. "Does anyone know the time? Or even what happened?"It is morning. Early morning

I look back to the guy, "Sorry my head hurts quite a bit. Here go first, I'll be right behind you. watch out for glass." I point towards the opening and move my hands in an ushering motion.

"Nice to meet you two," I said and added, somewhat sourly, "Though I wish it was in better conditions." I looked around the partially filled bus. "Thank goodness it wasn't too packed... I don't think I would ever get over it if I watched a kid die," I thought. There didn't seem to be any kids, and I was glad.

Alva came back, this time with a handkerchief and some water. She offered it to me and I was slightly surprised. "Oh, wow, thank you very much," I said and took them gratefully. I spent some time picking out the remaining pieces of glass. When I finished I poured about a quarter of the water bottle on my cuts, hoping to get any dirt out. "I'll be sure to clean it with alcohol when I get home," I thought, wondering what time it was.

I handed the water bottle back to Alva. "Here, we might ne trapped for a few hours. It'll be better to drink than clean my hand. I really appreciate it." I gave her another warm smile, hoping to keep the mood light as I wrapped my hand in the handkerchief.

"I'm not really sure what happened, I usually zone out before work so I wasn't really paying attention. As for the time..." out of habit I pat my front right pocket for my phone, but the rectangular bulge was no where to by found. 'Must have had it in my hands when we crashed otherwise I'd probably still have it.' After sanding up with the assistance of the man I look back and say, "I'm not quite sure... But it should be around 6:30'ish... That's when I usually take the bus to work. But who knows how long we've been out."

After finding my bearings I look back to see the other young man following behind me, I give him a confirmative nod and continue to walk towards the glass hole by the drivers seat. Voices of others surround me and it dawns on me that me and this young man aren't the only two conscious. As I walk/stagger towards the driver seat I turn my head and yell back, "To anybody that is able to standup right now, there is a way out by the drivers seat. Anybody who is too injured to move, sit tight. We're getting help." I make my way to the hole in the window and try to squeeze out. The shatter proof glass would have taken to much effort to try and make the hole bigger and I just didn't have the strength at the time. It didn't take long before made it out with minimal scratches. I immediately turn back to the young man with my hand extanded, " Alright, your turn..."

Wow. I guess they found a way out. I don't know why I didn't notice the solid-sized hole where the driver was sitting, given how close to it I was. I should've considered the windshield to begin with. Stupid. Get it together. Whatever. I really need to get out of here. I still need to go get food, which was the reason I was on the bus to begin with. It's not like I can just go back to my fridge like most people. I take a napkin out, wiping down my forehead. The alcohol-ish liquid stings the cut slightly, and I grimace. Well, you know what they say. If it hurts, you know it's working. I need to thank her somehow. Not with my voice, of course. Not my style.

Naturally, I'm not the type to wait my turn like a good little girl, and I shoulder my way in front of a boy that seems a little older than I am. Shoving my way past, I ignore the hand, wincing as I get yet another glass wound from crawling through the window. Specifically, my leather jacket and tanktop ride up a bit, leaving my hip to get a slight stinging cut. For those keeping track at home, that's three since I woke up, I think wryly to myself.

"Whoa,", I murmur upon looking out at the street, for once lacking a snarky remark. The street is as I have absolutely never seen it.

Quiet.

Not silent, mind you, but definitely weirdly quiet. There are plenty of cars; not a lot of them are running, though. It's...strange. I shiver slightly despite myself, rubbing my aching head, specifically the large red bump on my forehead. I have a bad feeling about this. Something's wrong here.

“You’re welcome.” I returned the warm smile Ally gave. Being thanked was always nice, even if it was just empty platitudes and what not. I sure as hell gave fake ones during my shift in retail. Being a mindless NPC was not fun. How did game characters do it, being stuck with the same dialogue options over and over again? I shook my head. They’re game characters, not people. I put the remaining tissue napkins back to my bag as well after Tori plucked one out and used it. She looked better now, at least, without the blood caking her face.

I watched as the older man climbed out of the bus, Tori immediately following. Of course, I followed her, too, like a moth to a flame. She shouldered past the boy and, while I didn’t agree with that point of action, I climbed out of the bus after her since it took a while for the boy to compose himself. I did say, “Excuse me,” though. It was always good to be polite. If high school ever taught me one thing, it was that if there’s an open spot, you immediately take it. And I was referring to getting quickly from one class to the other in the usually busy hallways of school.

Upon noticing Tori getting cut by the glass, I slowed my pace so I wouldn’t be injured in any way. It was a good thing I wore a long sleeve shirt today. No doubt I would’ve gotten more cuts if I didn’t. I did look away when her shirt rode up. It would be impolite not to do so. Her words of ‘whoa’ immediately took my notice as she managed to get out of the bus. Once I was standing, I looked around and felt that I understood what it was she meant.

It was quiet. For a country that boasted quick emergency response, there sure aren’t any people here. That’s worrying. Disbelief overriding my emotions, the words I wanted to keep to myself escaped my lips without my notice. “What the hell just happened here? Where’s the police and rescuers? Shouldn’t there be more people?”

@Lemons@1Hawkeyes

P.S: Used the random color for other people's dialogue just to differentiate it.

Sydney frowns angrily at being ignored. F*$&in' pr*$ks... Fine, I'll just get outta here...
She looks around at the others as they step outside, but doesn't follow. Instead she hoists her backpack onto her shoulders, lifts herself up and climbs out one of the broken videos and onto the top of the bus. She shades her eyes and looks around at the deserted street.
Holy f&$&... What the f#&@ happened!?
She walks to the edge of the bus and drops down to stand next to Tori.
Oi, tosser, any idea what the hell is going on?

@Overlord Thraka I look at the girl dryly as she drops next to me. Oh, I recognize her voice. She's the one from the bus that appears to swear just as much as I do. Impressive. She's taller than me, heavier than me, and would probably be able to literally break me over her knee. So, of course, I can't resist mouthing off. Hey, who knows. She might find it endearing. Yeah right.

"Watch your mouth. Swear too much and you'll wear it out for the rest of us."

Then I shrug, moving on the the actual question, which is spooking me a bit as well. "As for what's going on? I have no idea. Technically I wasn't even supposed to be on that bus, so I think I'll probably book out of here as soon as I can run straight." My mouth twists into a wry grin as I look at her, at the tattoos, punky haircut, scarred face, and (to the eyes of the constantly paranoid) suspicious backpack. "Something tells me you know what I'm talking about when I say that." I spare a curt nod. "Tori Eskridge."

In the distance, I spot someone walking across the street, a very occasional car swerving around them. They're walking a bit strangely; some sort of shambling limp. Maybe they hurt their leg or something. Either way, there's someone I can ask about what's going on with the city streets. This is starting to creep me out. I start walking towards them, swaying slightly as I move.

Hope it wasn't out of line that I assumed she'd have a scar or two on her face in her line of work. Also, make sure to put a bracket around your mention, I didn't see it until I checked on a lark.

After a good stretch I let out a satisfying sigh,I know I should be grateful that I'm still alive, but I could really do without the stiff back.. I looked up at the two girls who exited the bus, seemingly unfazed by that fact that they were part of a serious crash. The only thing I can think of at that point was, 'damn...they're Tough.' I watched them out of the corner of my eye for a bit as I waited for the others to get out of the bus, that's when I noticed the girl, who's name was tori(?), start walking off. I had no idea what she was doing, but when I saw this I just blurted out," Hey, girl! You should just wait for an ambulance, you're clearly injured. Stay here it'll make their job eas-" I stopped mid sentence when I realized what she was walking to, no, who she was walking to.

What the hell is wrong with that guy? It not like he just recovered from damn bus crash... the man was wobbling. I've seen druggies and drunks before and this man must have been one of the two by the way he carried himself. But something was weird...something was off. My eyes shifted from this tori girl and the man down the street, that's when I realised what she might have been thinking. " Uhh... Maybe you shouldn't go over there, there's plenty of wackos in this city that aren't exactly safe to be around...."

I jumped at the rather… impolite words of the woman and her abrupt entrance. I mean, what kind of person jumps down on top of a toppled bus? People who are cool, that’s what. Shut up, Alva. Great! You’re talking to yourself again. I didn’t deign to give the woman my name considering she didn’t ask for it. She’s intimidating to talk to, anyways.

I was torn with indecision, however, when Tori started moving away from the group. Those who were awake were slowly trickling out of the broken bus window and were currently grouped up just outside it. I wanted to follow but found myself only taking a single step. I stopped when I heard the man who first exited the bus speak. “Hey, girl! You should just wait for an ambulance, you're clearly injured. Stay here it'll make their job eas--" I looked towards him, curious as to why he paused in his words.

I followed his gaze and saw what he and Tori seemed to be looking at. There was someone in the distance walking in a lethargic manner. It was the most acceptable and polite way to say it, actually. Lethargic instead of weird or drunken. “I called the police earlier.” I told the man, my voice lowering into a whisper. “It said it’s busy.” My face wrinkled, uncomfortable at sharing something close to a conspiracy theory. “Isn’t it weird that no one’s come to rescue us yet?”

Again, I found myself inching slowly towards Tori, still torn on whether to commit going with the girl rather than the group. Stupid loyalty of mine. I grumbled.

Sydney frowns down at Tori. She's just a kid...
The frown lessens as Tori sasses her. She laughs and wags a finger at Tori
Who the f&#@ says I'm sticking around kiddo?
She folds her arms, her mirth fading from her face as she looks around the deserted street.
Well whatever's telling you that is dead wrong...
She spares Tori a glance, looking over her own grungy and worn clothes. She feels a spark of camaraderie with her. Reminds me of me when I was a kid... Probably snuck on that bus too...
Then again... maybe not.
She sticks out her hand, clad in a blue fingerless glove with spikes on the knuckles.
Kelli King.
She also sees the man in the street and follows after Tori, thinking he could be of use as well. She glances over her shoulder at the rest of the people in the van, but writes them off mentally, thinking them of little importance right now.
Dallas is going to have my ass if I'm late again... she mutters to herself as she follows Tori

@lemons I always forget to put the brackets on...

Anyways, she might have a scar or two, that's fine. Only issue I had I already mentioned in OOC chat

As I climb out the broken window I carefully asses whats going on, Seemingly everything looks ok, but something on a closer look some things are off. Open doors, and some cars beside us without passengers. What? is going on here? I step forward looking at the group who are also exiting. They sure seem to chat a-lot for crash survivors. What are they doing? Can't they see all the weird going on? I peer past them to see whats happening. Their eyes have locked onto a limping man, some are even walking toward him, Is he a survivor too? Maybe he's the driver, or the one we hit? He's not.

I raise my voice to gather the attention of the man I had just met. What was his name? "Hey man, you seeing all this? Whats Up with that guy?" @Undying Curiosity

I can't help to notice the cuts on everyone, I have some too, Nothing major."Hey anyone got a phone I got someone to call." I pace toward them worried. I gotta tell Mom. Maybe she saw the news.

Really sorry its short. Quick reminder to all, its a apocalypse so shits all wrecked.
