Due to lack of stability in Kiera's childhood, there is a foundation of hesitation, awkward introversion, and general elusiveness. She never did make any lasting friendships and was considered quite the loner, even later in life when she did finally make some more deeper friendships she remains non-committal and almost uncaring to those friendships, expecting to move at from them at any time. Kiera's approach to life is best described as a sort of passing optimist but isn't necessarily the type to quit early. With her motivations starting at positive thought to eventually decaying to just wanting something to end if it just keeps going wrong.
History:
Kiera's father made a choice to pursue his career and it was quite possible that having a family was a mistake he made, an accident that came from a moment of weakness. There was no denying his urges and with a rather attractive waitress, Kiera's father let himself go with the flow once, only to knock that waitress up. Maybe it was guilt but possibly real love, Kiera's father married that waitress who would soon bore his only child, Kiera.
Since birth, Kiera had experienced an unstable lifestyle with her family constantly moving around trying to get ahead of.. something. At the time, Kiera had no idea why her and her mother could never settle down and why her father was frequently away on work trips. It was only later in life did she discover that her mother was only trying to keep up with her husband's job. He was the figure head for cutting edge science, pulled between research labs, sites, and planetary bodies. This constant shift was only one of the costs for displaying such brilliance and leadership. He'd later discover that success wasn't meant to be everything.
The fire of Kiera's parents relationship died rather swiftly following their daughter's birth, with work apparently becoming so pressing that Kiera might get lucky to see her father one day a month. The attempts by Kiera's mother to move the family closer to the labs and research sites did little to encourage her husband to return home. So the natural attraction faded and the two split with Kiera going with her mother. Money was always sent to support them but Kiera would never see her father again.
The two of them, Kiera and her mother, finally settled in a relatively new sector of habitation by humanity. There, Kiera would experience her high school years and as per requirement for some distant planets, mandatory military service was required of all citizens. A year of training and exercises would lead to two additional years of non-combatant service would provide a rather solid skillset to Kiera's later occuption: Homesteading.
When a new habitable planet was discovered, security teams are sent into ensure the planet's safety. Once the all clear was given, a small number of colonist would establish outputs, mostly resource gathering and processing sites. Once things stabilize, the planet was clear for all numbers of new colonists and it was at this point Kiera and other Homesteaders would arrive to help establish these new colonists. It had its dangers but not enough to be particularly problematic. The career required a wide skillset beside combat as construction, planning, and all other aspects of developing a new world came into play in one form or another.
While Kiera was off on her own, both her parents would pass away. Her mother first in a freak accident that involved the power grid hay-wiring and exploding her apartment block. Her father might have been expected to attend the funeral but from the news and rumors, he had quite the controversy surrounding him. Unethical experiments, taking all credit for discoveries, and so on. So Kiera had always wanted to believe he stayed away to avoid staining Kiera's reputation, but even on the best of day's she couldn't really convince herself that her father actually cared for her. Speaking of which, her father's death was much more mysterious than her mother's. There was no announcement, no indication of his passing aside from a will that arrived one day by private courier. Inside was a long, explained letter of everything, his mistakes, confessing his reasoning, his love, but also contained in that letter was his request: Find my Legacy.
Vague instructions were Kiera's only clue and according the letter, no one could be trusted, but she wasn't left empty handed. A rare psionic implant, her father's own handiwork it seemed, a sum of money, and a small drone were provided to help in this sudden quest.

Use your mind to retrieve distant objects and interact with devices in sight. By using the motion of lifting with one hand, the mind can visualize and then psionically lift or move that object.
Currently: Weight limit of a hundred pounds. Range of 10m. One object.
Superthermal:
Rapidly heat molecules to form a hot plasma, capable of even melting metals. As opposed to the "cone of cold", Superthermal occurs at spontaneously at the spot where the Psion's mind focuses. Range is similar to that of Telepathy.
Currently:Kiera is capable of only lighting some materials on fire by raising the temperatures up to 100*C.
Superfreeze:
Rapidly cool and condense molecules to low molecular activity, possibly absolute zero. Starts with one molecule before expanding outward. In popular fiction works, this is essentially an ice blast, "cone of cold" or whatever your preferred name is.
Currently:Kiera can only freeze a cone of reaching 1m starting from her palm out. The temperature of her blast is recorded at -20*C.
Gravity Surge:
Essentially super condensing molecules for a brief moment to create a sort of miniature black hole to pull objects towards the dense sphere. Objects pulled into the sphere are ripped apart. Hard to maintain and risks pulling the Psion user in as well.
Currently: Kiera can only condense a small 1 cm x 1 cm orb with a 10 m weak pull range.
