Irene remained quiet, supporting Kurt as two other friends of his came to his aid.

Sol, loud, but helpful. Had offered to run off to get a drink for Kurt. He was an interesting sketch subject, she never admitted to him, but there were several pages of her current sketchbook from his time at the skate park. He had performed some amazing stunts, and Irene's eye had captured them perfectly.

"Thank you Sol," she stammered as the skater ran to the cafeteria. The other student had Kurt on the other arm, he was keeping the situation light-hearted. Something Irene was not good at, she felt a small smile creep across her face as she watched Kurt groan at his attempt at humor. She opened her mouth to try a pop-culture quip, but realized, she really didn't have much she could work with. She closed her mouth shortly after as they helped Kurt make his way to the bathroom to get cleaned up.

Then she stopped them...

Hannah was one of the few people that could lure Irene's temper out of whatever icy depths it preferred to reside. As she began prattling off her dramatic sympathy for Kurt, Irene kept her gaze focused on the ground. She didn't want to start anything with the popular girl, it would probably lead to her sharing the same fate as Kurt right now. She desperately wanted to raise her eyes to meet Hannah's, but she wasn't the brave one...she just painted pretty brave heroines...

"Maybe if she stopped keeping her nose in the air, she'd care a little more...Sorry...that may have been more to take a stab at me..." Irene apologized to the other two, she'd shared an art class with Hannah that Irene had unintentionally irritated the girl by outshining her in a painting course. She'd painted some gaudy flowers, while Irene had worked on a classical recreation of Athena. The girl felt this was a slight against her, and Irene chose to keep her eyes down, and admit defeat to Hannah. Yet something about the Muse she'd painted recently, the defiant green eyes, maybe...

However, Hannah was gone, and Kurt needed attention more than some stupid matter of pride. Irene had noticed the bathroom had a rather large yellow sign advising students to wait a few minutes before they could go in. Irene looked to the others for a moment, silently realizing she again, proved she was not good in a crisis.

"Umm, here," Irene muttered softly as she'd opened her canvas bag. Drawing out a small bowl of applesauce and some sugary fruit drink she'd been a fan of lately. "Sorry, I forgot I had these." She gave both parts of her lunch to Kurt. "I had a big breakfast, so I'm not hungry." She smiled meekly, hoping that the boy didn't realize she rarely had more then that during lunch because she was usually in the studio working.

Brody wasn’t fazed by the fact that Kurt seemed unimpressed by his jokes, he kept near the guy and made sure they made it to the bathroom. Of course, on the way there they passed by Hannah “two faced” Franklin. Okay so that wasn’t her actual nickname but it was what Brody thought of anytime he saw her. She put on the most insincere performance as she coed about Kurt and how she may just faint at the sight of blood. Brody offered her the single finger salute as she winked at him, paired with a sarcastic grin. Irene mentioned something about Hannah having a problem with her, “Even though we go to school with a guy totally named Lucifer, I’m pretty sure she’s the actually Satan.” Brody joked, as the paused by the bathroom which was currently closed for cleaning. Brody moved the sign out of the way while Irene offered Kurt something to drink and some applesauce. He smiled a little, it was nice to know some people in this school were still kind, offering their lunch to a guy she barely knew.

“Hey thanks for helping us out, you’re really awesome. Um, maybe I could buy your lunch today, since it looks like you’ve given Kurt the good parts. I think it’s chicken finger day which is usually pretty okay as far as the café’ goes, and you could sit with us, if you want to, you don’t have to though.” Brody rambled on to Irene, kind of nervously, as he lost focus on Kurt once again. Whatever Kurt now had a drink and some applesauce so it wasn’t like his situation was all that dire. Brody hadn’t had a lot of chances to talk to Irene, he had wanted to but she always seemed busy with art or something and he didn’t really know what to say. He then felt his ears turn red as he thought about how awkward he probably sounded and he glanced back at Kurt. “We should probably get moving before the bell rings.” He said as he quickly helped Kurt into a room where Irene wouldn’t be following.

Kurt grunted his appreciation towards Irene, and immediately opened the juice to guzzle it down. By the time they reached the bathroom, he was already working on the applesauce. Of course, Brody, ever the Casanova, stopped to talk to Irene some more. Kurt went ahead in and tossed the empty containers in the trash. He pulled a fistful of paper towels from the dispenser and started running some water.

Kurt caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror and was almost startled. Wow, he did look like death. He wetted a paper towel and began working the dried blood off of his face. When his pale skin was clean, he started scrubbing at his bloodied white shirt. It was probably permanently stained.

He looked up as Brody finally made it inside. He mentioned the bell, to which Kurt just shrugged. Would anyone really be surprised if they were late?
