Sylvia nodded in agreement with Pylia's words and she commented "...Agreed. To use the ballistas against him...that would be brutal," She then looked to the aforementioned ballista, and saw how Buddy and Shortfang were moving it (well, it was mostly Buddy, but still). She couldn't help but chuckle at how Shortfang was excitedly saying that the ballista was the biggest crossbow ever. It was adorable.

She then looked to see Shor and Aisha arrive. She listened as Aisha briefed her and her friends on the situation that was taking place now. She looked to the keep as well when Aisha looked towards it as well. When Aisha mentioned that she would be deciding who would be going with their group, she had to take a moment to silently think about it. Aisha was definitely a magic user while Shor was probably a melee fighter, if she guessed correctly. She considered having Aisha go with them as Sylvia and her friends were mostly melee with some spell casting. Pylia was probably the only one out of them who could use a wider variety of spells than the rest of the party.

However, there was the fact that there were the coming situations to consider as well. They were going to be going into the keep. Aisha's magic might be better used out in the courtyard, where she has room to move and she could have more space to use magic. Plus the gators would probably be able to protect her better than the four of them. Shor would also probably be able to handle going into a keep and he would probably want to see that this situation was taken care of himself.

With these thoughts in mind, Sylvia answered Aisha, "Thank you, Aisha. I think it would be a good idea to have Shor come with us into the keep while you stay and take care of the courtyard,"

Aisha nods. "A wise decision. Alright, let's go head to Shor then. I'm sure he wants to get in as soon as possible." Whether you choose to follow or not, Aisha heads down to meet up with Shor, who was aiding the kobolds to set up more defenses. Nothing too complex, just some wooden cover in cast those trogs do try and shoot at them. The cover would be good for people like Shor and the kobolds, but taller folk would need to crouch, and it wouldn't protect the gators at all, who seemed rather injured from their battles. Pylia would stick with you while Shortfang and Buddy stayed on the walls for a short while longer, trying to teach the kobold warriors how to operate the balistas.

But there would be no time to rest. Before you could even meet with Shor and Aisha, the doors were knocked open. Rushing out from the doors were trogs. No... Something bigger. Something worse. Four large toad-like monsters, standing taller than even the trog chiefs you fought, roaring loudly for everyone to hear. Aisha shouts loudly as Shor told the kobolds to get to their battle stations. "Slaads! Goddamn slaads!" One Slaad went after each of the giant crocodiles, grappling them and forcing the riders to do battle directly, with the other kobold warriors swarming them. Another Slaad did the same, leaving two more rushing the Shor and Aisha.

The first one attacked Shor, trying to bite him with his massive mouth. As a Slaad, it seemed like the monster's mouth was roughly 60% of it's body, and would've swallowed Shor whole had he not swung his axe at the beast causing him to snap his mouth back. But the same time it created a sort of rubber band effect that allowed the Slaad to rake both it's claws across Shor's armored body, cutting through his plate and mail. However he didn't make a peep, seemingly stoic even in the face of monstrosities like these creatures. The next one went after Aisha who was standing not too far from Shor at that time. He too took a bite bite at Aisha, but she cooly ducked underneath the blow. He tried to do the same thing the other Slaad did, but Aisha was faster, ducking under the first claw while leaping over the second one as it tried to slash her legs. "Fool. Your brutish fat is no match for my skills and magic!" Aisha taunted as she landed and got into a martial stance.

Bursting right past you so fast that it almost would've knocked you over, Buddy leapt from the wall towards the Slaad attacking Aisha. He got some serious air as he was well above the Slaad, and buried his axe right into the skull of the Slaad. His eyes, core, and axe glowed with an awesome power as he followed through with his slash, tearing large chunks of bone and flesh from the monster as he stabbed it's chest. But in a terrifying display of might, the monster still lived, despite the critical injury Buddy inflicted. Even his stab failed to make the monster bleed, striking thick blubber and flesh. His wicked looking grin was quickly removed as a balista bolt slammed into the creature's shoulder, causing it to stagger backwards. "Good hit Buddy! Save some for Shortfang!" Shortfang said with glee after he had just fired the balista right at the Slaad. There were a few of the warriors with him as he ordered them in his dragon language to help him reload the weapon, doing so with quick efficiency. Syfr flew towards the Slaad as well, flying in it's face, harmlessly scratching at it and spreading it's feathers around to distract it.

Pylia looks towards you with a determined expression. "We have to help them! Let's go!" She summoned a ball of fire and tried to shoot it at the distracted Slaad, but he saw her flames between the feathers and raised his arms to block it. Though the orb of fire struck his arms, they didn't seem to leave even a scratch as he continued to grin wickedly at the others, as if he wasn't afraid of the death.

Sylvia does follow Aisha towards Shor. However, before she could even say anything the doors opened and something rushed out towards them. What were those things?! They weren't trogs! She got her answer from Aisha as she shouted. Slaads?! What were slaads?! She saw that Shor was hit while Aisha was able to dodge. Sylvia couldn't react as Buddy managed to rush past her and deal a heavy blow to the slaad, only for it to remain standing, just like with the Zombie Ogre! Shortfang had fired a bolt, and Syfr was now distracting it.

Getting herself composed again, she nodded to Pylia and she answered "I'm on it!" She then hurried over to the wounded trog and used the fireball as a distraction. She was able to land the tonfa's strike up at its jaw, before landing a kick on its chest, hoping to weaken it enough for Aisha or Shor to finish it off.

Just as the Slaad lowed his arms to get ready and attacking Buddy, you flew right at his face and struck him square in the jaw, breaking bones and teeth. If he didn't look ugly already, the deconstructive surgery you and Buddy were putting his face through wasn't making him any prettier. You manage to kick him square in the chest as well, avoiding his wild swipes as one of the claws went straight towards Aisha. However she smoothly dodged the talon and closed the distance, running up to his chest before climbing to his face, grabbing his tongue to keep her steady. "I'll destroy you!" Aisha slammed her palm right into the face of the Slaad, and for a moment nothing seemed to happen. He then opened his mouth to swallow Aisha, but from her hand a burst of blue lightning lashed forward, frying a black hand-print right in the Slaad's face and seize up. The shock went from his face throughout his whole body, leaving him a lightly crispy charred corpse. In the cartoons he would've puffed up some smoke before falling, but in a real battle all he did was fall back. Aisha jumped off of him and landed next to you, however she didn't stay. "Go assist Shor! I'm capable up close, but I'd rather much fight from afar." Using this opportunity Aisha put some distance between herself and the other Slaad as Shor took some swings at the beast.

His first slash cut into the arm of the Slaad as he tried to block the attack, but Shor's axe bit deep into the Slaad's arm, cutting into his bones. After cleaving through Shor brought the axe into an upward strike to slash the Slaad's face, but only managed to slice into the monster's flabby chest. It created a cut that bleed, but the thick fat on this creature made the blow less lethal than it would've been. The Slaad countered with a bite into Shor's arm, crushing his bones but the dwarven warrior remained ever steadfast, pulling his arm out as the slaad tried to slash him across the face. But Shor, now ready to brawl, parried the blow with his axe. But the Slaad was just as quick and dug his claw into Shor's ribcage. This gained a loud grunt from Shor, but his stony face didn't waver. "Gibbering toad, I will make you croak!"

Buddy jumped off the defensive wall, off the Slaad's corpse, and tried to attack the Slaad as well. But the creature merely used an arm to block Buddy's blade, and even his stab ended up just making a shallow and harmless cut into the monster's fatty flesh. Buddy at least moved to flank the creature, ensuring that if it does try to attack or escape, his attention is divided between him and Shor. And it was right at that moment of hesitation that allowed Shortfang to send a balista bolt right into the gut of the abomination, which gained a cry of cheers from himself and his kobold siege crew. "Hoorah! Biggest Crossbow!" Syfr flew towards the Slaad's face to distract him, which gave Pylia a chance to summon holy fire to burn him from behind. "Overwhelm him with your attacks! Go on Sylvia, don't give him a chance to retaliate!"

Sylvia was a little disappointed that the slaad didn’t cough up smoke before falling over, but she was glad that they were now against only one of those things now. She nodded to Aisha in response to her request to help Shor. She watched as the battle raged on between Shor and Buddy for a bit. The slaad seemed to be prepared against Buddy now. Thankfully Shortfang’s bolt and Pylia’s fire managed to hit the creature. She called back to Pylia as she rushed to the trog, “Right! Time to make him croak!!!” Once she reached the slaad she shouted as she struck it with her tonfa and a swift punch.

Whipping your tonfa across the Slaad's exposed flesh, followed by a deep gut punch, the Slaad growled as he loomed over you with the intent of turning his full attention towards you. But just as he was about to lunge, a spectral hand shot forward towards his neck, causing the Slaad to choke. Behind you Aisha was doing some sort of Force Choke maneuver, causing the flesh around the Slaad's neck to rot and decay. "Captain! Finish him!" Hoisting his axe up high, Shor chopped right through the Slaad's leg, causing the beast to tumble forward, barely catching himself with his hands. But this left his neck completely exposed as Shor brought the blade down upon the Slaad's neck like a guillotine, decapitating the creature in one blow. Around the same time the other kobolds and giant crocodiles finished off their own Slaad, sustaining minimal casualties.

However this was far from over. Shor looked towards the keep. "There's no way any of these slaads was Red Stain. They don't match his description at all, and worse, we've received no intel about more slaads here. If they've somehow managed to summon or create more, we have to go in now before he brings more reinforcements! If he brings more of these creatures to replace the trogs, not even the full force of the city guard can stop him!" Quaffing a healing potion Shor marched towards the Keep. "Follow me Sylvia! Aisha, take care of damage control and make sure nothing else gets in or out of this Keep that isn't allies!" Pylia and Shortfang soon joined you as Buddy made sure that the two slaads here were certainly dead. "Haaaaah, I just want this to be over!" Pylia moaned. Shortfang seemed shaky, possibly out of excitement of using such a huge weapon, or possibly out of fear for what's to come. "Almost done. Defeat Red Stain, save kobolds! Shortfang see victory ahead!" Buddy simply turned towards Shor and began to follow him.

Sylvia gulped when she noticed it was looming above her, ready to take a bite out of her. She braced herself for the worst before Aisha used a Force Choke maneuver to do some damage to the trog. She had to quell the Star Wars references that came to mind when she saw that spell. Thankfully, Shor finished off the last trog and quaffed a healing potion. Not only that, but the kobolds and crocodiles finished off their own Slaads. She listened as Shor spoke. None of those things were Red Stain?! They could've fooled her! The fact that they hadn't received intel about more slaads here, and the fact that they wouldn't be able to handle slaads if they replaced the trogs, concerned Sylvia.

They had to end this...now.

She nodded to Shor when he told her to follow him. She answered her friends as they met up with her, "We're almost done, Pylia. Hang in there. Stay on your toes guys! Come on!" She then hurried after Shor, and leading her friends into the keep.

Your team followed you and Shor into the Keep. Whatever happened in here, it almost looked like someone else already came by to destroy the place. What little furniture that was around was all smashed up, with dead trogs all over the place. Torn apart by the slaads in their rampage. Pylia readied her club to attack anything that came at them while Shortfang had his hand crossbow and shortsword at the ready. Buddy seemed to be scanning the area intently while Shor kept close to everyone. "Seems like these Slaads are little more than mad beasts compared to even those troglodytes. Whatever foul magics brought them here, we'll need to end it. Do you smell that?" This whole keep already reeked of the sickening stench of rot and trog, which Pylia pointed out. "I'd rather not... But I'm guessing you noticed something?" Shor pointed towards a set of double-doors. There were many in this part of the keep, but Shor seemed to focus intently on this one. "Death. Lots of it. I'd bet fifty gold that whatever brought those slaads here required a lot of live sacrifices. So that's where we're heading to next. Keep your senses sharp."

Shor would lead the group to the door, stopping to listen inside. He didn't risk opening it right now in case there's something inside, but the door was sealed tight. Not even Shortfang or Syfr could get through, so they'll need to try and listen. Shor, Pylia, and Buddy did the same, trying to hear or sense something inside of that room.

Sylvia felt sick just looking at the numerous trog corpses littered all over the keep. She could feel her muscles tense in anxiety, and she breathed through her nose to try and keep herself alert, but not too stiff. Though, that turned out to be a bad idea as she caught whiff of the dead bodies around them. She answered Shor, somewhat coughing quietly, "Yeah...Yeah, I smell that," She then looked towards the doors that Shor pointed out.

After Shor pointed out the double doors, and noted that they were all focused on what was the other side of the doors. She followed Shor's advice and kept her senses sharp, but she wasn't just listening for what was on the other side of the door. No, she also kept an eye and ear out on their current surroundings as well...just in case. This area does seem a little too quiet for her liking as of right now...

While she looked around and listened, she quietly and subtly moved into the Satyr Stance once more, and got ready to dodge, if something were to jump out and attack.

As you focused your senses towards the door, listening, feeling the air around you, you got a strange sort of premonition. The area around you was filled with nothing but death and blood, and beyond this door that feeling was heaviest. But you could also sense the presence of life, but also killing intent. There was a creature beyond these doors, and it was waiting for you. Waiting for you in the last place you'll expect it: above you. Looking up you could get an idea that there was a monster on the other side of this door waiting to attack from above, possibly once the team got inside. You weren't sure how or why, it was simply a gut feeling, but one you felt was most accurate.

Meanwhile Shor put his hand on the door, looking towards the party and speaking in a low, hush tone. "Let's get ready to move in. On the count of three, we'll go inside and get ready for battle. Attack anything that comes at you." Everyone else tensed, but no one seemed to have noticed the same strange feeling as you did. They were getting ready to charge forward, with Shortfang and Pylia at the rear, Buddy and Shor at the front, and you right dab in the center.

Sylvia quietly gasped at the strange premonition she had. After she had the premonition, she couldn't help but wonder...did she just sense somebody else's ki? After all, ki is energy, aura, life. She wasn't sure how or why she was able to sense that being, but she could see that the others hadn't noticed. She placed a hand on Buddy and Shor, stopping them from charging in, and she whispered to her friends, hoping that her words won't be heard by the creature on the other side, "Guys, wait," She then told them, "If we just charge in there, we're gonna be attacked from above. Something is there, waiting for us,"

She then looked around, hoping to find something like a cart among the wrecked furniture bits, "We should find something to send in first,"

There were no carts to send inside, as most of the furniture seemed to have been chairs, tables, or containers. At beast you find a broken barrel that had some cloth and rope in it. But seeing you look around gave Pylia and idea. “Hold on, let me see that.” Pylia looked through the barrel, cutting a five feet long length of cloth. “Shortfang, could you bring Syfr over?” Confused, Shortfang did as commanded. Than Pylia gently wrapped the cloth around Syfr to create a cloak, then a hood. “There we go. We can send Syfr inside, and I can summon my Silver Sword hidden underneath. When whatever on the other side attacks, Syfr can fly away and I can strike at it with my flying sword.”

Shor nods at this plan. “It’ll have to do. Keep your eyes above regardless, with any lucky it’ll be tricked by your decoy and we can all swarm it. Whenever you’re ready, I’ll open the door and we’ll see what happens next.” Everyone was ready. Shortfang channeled his eyes through Syfr so he can see whatever Syfr can see, while Pylia readied to summon her Silver Sword. Buddy simply remained ever calm and ready to smite down the next enemy he sees.

Sylvia silently cursed when she couldn't find any carts. The best she saw was a barrel, but that probably wasn't going to be enough to fool whatever was hiding on the other side. She looked to Pylia when she seemed to get an idea. She watched as Pylia made a cloak with the cloth, and wrapped it around Syfr. She nodded at the plan, and she braced herself. She answered Shor quietly, "Ready as I'll ever be," She got into her satyr stance once more, and prepared to rush in and attack, hopefully after whatever on the other side is tricked by the decoy.

With everything prepared, the group opens the door, letting Syfr and Pylia's silver sword move in under the guise of a simple cloak. It moved very slowly, as if scanning the room. Everyone else waited outside of the door, just watching. Suddenly from above, the cloak was ripped away and Syfr quickly moved away as slowly a giant red form appeared. This creature looked even bigger and vicious than the slaads before. And on it's back was some sort of black symbol; it looked like a three-prong pitch fork going through three circles, with the circle at the top looking like an eye. Shor readied his axe. "That's Red Stain. Matches all of our descriptions. Let's go!" The mean moves in just as Red Stain turns and sees them, roaring at your presence. And as he roars, a demonic voice shouted in everyone's minds.

"YOU WILL DIE TODAY!"

Combat begins! No surprise rounds due to careful anticipation! Sylvia is up first!

As the door opened and Syfr moved with Pylia's ethereal sword, Sylvia tensed. It was like being in a horror movie, where she knew that the person entering the room was going to be attacked and the audience would have a jump scare. Sure enough, that's what happened. The cloak was lifted upwards and, if a person had been wearing it, would have been taken upwards to their death as well. Thankfully, Syfr was able to fly away from the beast as it showed itself. Sylvia's blue eyes widened as she took in the appearance of the creature in front of her. What in the world is that?!

She muttered under her breath at the sight, "Jesus Fucking Christ...!"

What was that symbol on its back? She didn't recognize it, but it certainly didn't look good.

She heard Shor's words, and with that, she knew that this was the battle where she should spend her ki. She didn't let the roar phase her, but she did hear the demonic words in her mind. She decided to move to the side, along the edge of the circle, and stopped. She then pointed her hand at the red creature and fired a radiant bolt of energy, before delving into her ki and firing two more at it. She was hoping to be a distraction to the creature and give her friends the chance to swarm him and attack while she had its attention right now.

You charge right into the room as he roars, firing your ki blasts right into his body and face. The radiant damage burns his flesh painfully, but just as soon as the wounds were made, they slowly began to fade and return to normal until there was barely a scratch on him. He bellowed deeply in your mind. "Pathetic. You are no warrior, woman, but I shall grant you the mercy of spawning my eggs!" He lunged right at you, both of his claws slamming through your body. Fortunately however you were fasted and managed to dodge his blows easily. Suddenly his neck stretched out to bite you as well, but after fighting these trogs all day you are all too familiar with these toad's tactics, and you easily guard from his attacks. As he was ready to continue his assault onto you a thick black net wrapped around his arm and leg, binding them together.

Shortfang had thrown one of his nets right at the Red Slaad, putting the monster in a perilous position. "Kill em! Skin em! Momma make him into new shirt!" In a surge of adrenaline the tiny kobold fired a crossbow bolt at Red Stain's back, drawing blood as Shortfang ran up to stand alongside you, slicing into the toad demon's forearm with his shortsword. "Get em Buddy!" And sure enough Buddy proceeded to get Red Stain, slashing his axe across the monster's lower back and doing considerably damage. If this was a normal human Buddy might've just sliced through it's spine, however the beast was still standing even as Buddy stabbed the opposite end of his Urgrosh through the armpit of the beast.

"Do not falter my friends! No matter the size or origins of this monster, he cannot hope to defeat us together! He is not warlord, he is a coward hiding behind weaklings, his true nature seen even here! Let us purge this place of his filth, for the good of us all!" Shor spoke inspiring words that showed why he is no mere warrior. You could feel a rush of energy flow through you as he joined the melee, and Pylia spoke words of encouragement too. "I was afraid. Very afraid of this dark and dangerous place. But this is the home of wonderful people, a kind folk who simply wished to do what anyone wants to do: to live! If this monster plans to take that away, than I shall not fear him! Let us strike him down once and for all!" As she says this Pylia's Silver Sword of Defiance flew up into the aid and stabbed Red Stain through the back. Despite this beat down he was still alive, though it looks like he was struggling to free himself from the net as well as defending himself from all of the attacks. Now was your chance!

While Red Stain's words may have been meant to discourage her or anger her as an insult, it instead brought up an emotion that inspired her to move faster than she has ever moved before: Disgust. A very strong sense of disgust, enough to make her eyes widen again, and feel herself almost throw up. As she dodged the teeth and claws, her words could be heard by her friends, "Ew Ew Ew! No No No! Bad Touch! BAD TOUCH! I AIN'T SPAWNING ANY EGGS TODAY, BUSTER! NO SIR!"

She was glad to see that Shortfang, Buddy, and Pylia were all able to land hits on the creature. She heard Shor and she felt inspired to try and hit the creature. With that inspiration, and the disgust she still feels from the thing's words, she moved to attack Red Stain with the old One Two! A tonfa to hit first before going with an unarmed strike.

Your Tonfa struck it square in the chin, followed by another strike to the same target but at a different angle. A few of the Slaad's wounds begin to heal, but your party was putting quite a focused beat down upon him, even as his wounds regenerated. He tried to struggle out from the net but Buddy jostled him, causing the Slaad to almost loose his footing but failing to free himself from the net. This allowed Shortfang to drop his crossbow and climb onto the bound up arm of the monster, stabbing his Shortsword into it's flesh to get some leverage before bring out his scimitar to try and hack away at the back of it's neck. Buddy and Shor also took their axes and were chopping into the back of the monster's legs like they were lumberjacks chopping down a tree. Finally Pylia fired a flaming orb right into the wound where her silver sword had struck, doing what should've been critical damage, however it seemed like the flames snuffed out before they could really burn. That being said, her silver sword did a perfectly good amount of damage as well as it skewered through the Slaad's forearm, trying to pin him down.

Sylvia shouted back to Pylia after she called on her, "I'm on it!" She then jumped up into the air and as gravity pulls her back to the ground, she shouts at Red Stain in only what she thought was the most fitting finishing line she could think of, given its words earlier...

"BEGONE THOT!!!"

And as she comes back down to the earth, she slams the tonfa into the skull. But she wasn't done. No! She wanted to make sure that it didn't regenerate it's wounds, so she used the last of her ki to kick and punch the thing. She wanted to make sure that it stayed dead!

After landing the blows, she breathed heavily, trying to recover her breath.

Your tonfa breaks through flesh and bone, spiking the Slaad's head into the ground. The beast could barely let out a murmur as you began to hear whispers in your mind. Some sort of taunt was being formed, but before you could comprehend those thoughts you slammed your other first into what remained of his skull before finishing him off with a stomp that silenced the voice in your head. Red Stain twitched before his body went slack and began to melt into some sort of blood like liquid. "Clear out! What the hells is this!?" Shor said with concern as you and the others backed away from the melting body. The remains of Red Stain evaporated into the air, leaving behind only Shortfang's net, and interestingly enough a few stones. One looked like a ruby the size of your thumb. Though it was irregularly shaped, it seemed like it was already cut and looked very nice. You also find another one of those strange red stones with veins on it, like the one found from the dead trog and the dead cultist.

A few moments would pass but nothing else occurred in the room. There was another door to the north that Shor and Buddy checked, but it was safe. In fact it seemed like they hit the jackpot. In this room were various scrolls, books, and maps that Shor quickly analyzed as areas around Gransys. The scrolls and books weren't written in any language he understood, nor Pylia or Shortfang, but he suspected they may have something to do with Elysium. Additionally there were a few others items here as well, and curiously enough there was one in particular that caught the attention of Shortfang. It was a large egg, almost as big as him. "This... This not Sewer Dragon egg. This egg," He sniffed it, tasted it, and began to prod it before shaking with glee. "This... This dragon egg!"
