Sylvia's grin grew a little wider almost mischievously as Pylia seemed to become bashful at the praise. She could only answer her shy remarks with a humming "Mmm-hm,"
Before she even knew it, there was a barking, and she turned towards the sound. She couldn't react as a large dog barreled into her and knocked her to the ground, effectively knocking the wind out of her lungs, "OOF!". She let out a groan as she fell to the floor and she instinctively closed her eyes as she felt the dog lick her face. When she got the chance she opened her eyes to see the adventurer and Jackson!

At the sight of them, she couldn't help but laugh, and she commented to the adventurer, "I think Jackson caught whiff of my scent!" She then stood up, and laughed as she cleaned the dog slobber off of her face, "It's good to see you and Jackson again,"

Jackson barked loudly, getting the attention of Shortfang and Buddy, but Mica continued his work without breaking his focus. The man dragged Jackson off of you, though he continued to sniff and hop excitedly. "You.... Oh! You're that lass from the encampment! What a surprise. I didn't recognize you in that outfit. Red's a very bold color, I'm surprised I didn't recognize you considering you were soaked in your own blood." Pylia turned to you with a dull gaze. "Yes. She tends to be when she goes off on her own." Shortfang seemed uneasy. He didn't have any weapons out but it looked like he was ready to. "Boss... You okay?"

Sylvia blushed in slight embarrassment when he mentioned that the last time they met, she was soaking in her own blood. She chuckled hesitantly at Pylia's words and dull gaze, and a little jokingly, "Haven't wandered off on my own since then, give me some credit," She then looked to Shortfang when he seemed uneasy. She answered him, "Yes, I'm okay Shortfang!" She then told him, "Shortfang, this is the man, and his dog, Jackson, who helped me prove your innocence back at the encampment,"

Shortfang seemed to relax as you explained who this man was. He looks to the adventurer and nods. "Okay! Thank you! Shortfang didn't like cage. But thanks to boss and dog, Shortfang free kobold now!" The adventurer nods. It was hard to tell what his expression was underneath his helmet. "Glad to see you stretch your legs, little man. I always figured you were a good guy." The man looked towards you and extended his hand for a shake. "You know, I don't think we've ever properly introduced ourselves. My name's Domic. Adventurer and general purpose monster slayer. Did you decide to open up a shop or something?"

Sylvia shook his hand in return and she introduced herself, “We haven’t! I’m Sylvia Thorne. Nice to meet you Domic,” When he asked about the store, she answered him, “Oh no. My friends and I are still adventurers. A friend of ours who was part of the caravan we were protecting opened this shop here. We’re just watching the store for him. He’s out for now, but he’ll be back soon,”

"Ah, so I see. I was wondering when this shopped opened up. I've never been here before so I was curious about what it sold. Looks like it has quite a selection though." Domic looked around the shop before turning back to you. "Though I don't really have enough coin saved up for anything fancy. I mostly just wanted to pursue and see if there's anything useful before I head out for my next job. Don't suppose you have any recommendations?"

Sylvia had to give his question a bit of thought as she recalled what she saw in stock here and their previous adventures. She started as she thought about it, "Well, Ferric has a lot of items here, magical and mundane, it's almost hard to choose. Mica can enchant any of your equipment if you wanted, but that's kinda expensive," She commented after recalling the fight against Red Stain and the mimic, "I would definitely recommend a net. Shortfang's net has made some of our battles significantly easier to deal with," She then added, "There are also some healing potions here, those are always useful,"

"A net huh? Those are kinda tricky to mess with. I've never really been able to use those reliably..." Domic thought about it and shook his head. "Well, I'll think on it. But for now I think I'll settle for some potions and maybe Holy Water if you have any. Two of each. Will this be enough?" Domic sets down a small stack of gold, roughly about 100 total. "So, you've been on many adventures since we last met? Bet you got a quest going on right now too, aye?"

Sylvia raised an eyebrow at his request, and she answered him honestly, "Unfortunately, I wouldn't know. I am not familiar with the prices of his wares nor where Ferric keeps the items. We are simply watching over his shop while he is away. It would be best to wait for Ferric to come back before making any transactions, which shouldn't be too long now," She knew that she didn't know much about Ferric's store itself, nor how he runs his business, so it really wasn't her place to make any transactions while he's away. Ferric trusted the store to her, and she wasn't going to betray that trust.

She then answered his question, "Oh yeah. We've been through a lot of adventures since we last met. And yes, we even have a quest going on right now,"

"Smart lass." Domic took his coin back while Pylia shot him a dirty look. Domic doesn't seem to pay her any mind and focuses on you. "Fascinating. I wish I could say my last job was exciting, but honestly all we did was escort a caravan from one outpost to another. Ran into some goblins but they didn't stay to fight, it was pretty much just a lot of walking. So tell me, I know there was a second encampment on the way to Gransys. I heard there's bandits on the road there, got any stories about that?" Domic then looked over to Buddy and nodded towards him. "Don't suppose it has anything to do with your strange friend over there. Where'd you pick him up?"

Sylvia noticed that Pylia shot him a dirty look but she didn't make any comments on it. She listened as he spoke about how he escorted a caravan from one outpost to another. She was curious as to where those outposts were, because all she knew were the two encampments between Gransys and Cassari. She didn't ask about that yet, because Domic asked about the bandits and Buddy. She answered Domic, "We do actually. We've encountered the Iron Hammer Bandits between the first and second encampment while they were attacking a family of merchants. I think it's safe to say that they won't be bothering anyone anymore, especially since their leader is gone. Anyways, after taking care of the Iron Hammer bandits, the family of merchants joined our caravan and we got them to Gransys safely,"

She then looked to Buddy, "As for Buddy, we found him shortly after fighting the bandits," She was curious about what he'll say in response. She wasn't going to say that they were guided to Buddy by dreams she and Andrews had, and a few other series of strange coincidences. The fact that he had guessed that finding Buddy had something to do with the bandits though...

She continued, "Before reaching Gransys, we did meet another person who was going after the Iron Hammer Bandits. She was hoping to get the bounty that was placed on the Iron Hammer Bandits, and she thought that the leader was a huge monster. But I told her what happened to them and I think she went to go get their amulets,"

"Iron Hammer huh? I ran into those guys before. Not so tough when they don't get the jump on you. I'm guessing you must've taken out Maul then? Big guy with the big hammer?" Domic said casually. "I went after his bounty myself, tracked him all the way to his fortress over on the southron coast. Too many bandits for me to take on with just me and Jackson though. But I guess his outfit must've ran into some bad luck if the big man himself has to do his own dirty work." Jackson walked over to Buddy, panting at him. Buddy knelt down and started playing with him, rubbing his belly and patting his face. Domic didn't seem to mind. "Well, guess I you got his bounty than. Good on ya. In any case, twas nice meeting you again Sylvia. If you want to have a few drinks or just chat again, I'll be staying at the Bloated Float tonight, over at the dock's district. I'll be leaving tomorrow morning for another job though. Good luck with your quests, hero." Domic whistled which got Jackson's attention. The dog trotted back over to Domic as the two left Ferric's shop, leaving it back to just you and your allies. Shortfang had chosen to sit on a barrel watching your conversation while Pylia was standing quietly nearby.

Huh...Did that big guy have a hammer to begin with? Sylvia recalled the fight, and the leader was certainly big and creepy, but she didn't remember seeing the hammer. Then again, she did make an effort to take the guy down before he even had a chance to attack anyone. She was starting to have doubts as to whether or not they killed the leader or not. She answered Domic, "He was huge. But we took him down before he had the chance to attack anyone,"

If they had a fortress...then were there more Iron Hammer bandits than just the small gang that they fought? That could be a problem.

She smiled at his compliments, and when he was done talking, she answered him, "Thanks! It was nice meeting you again too," She then watched him leave the store. She then looked back to her friends and she realized out loud, "Oh. He didn't wait for Ferric to come back...huh..." Wasn't he going to buy some healing potions and holy water? She then looked to Buddy and she asked him, "Buddy, I don't suppose you sensed anything from Jackson?"

Buddy shook his head, showing you a small note. "Just a dog." Pylia let out a deep sigh. "I don't like him. He's hiding something from me. Us. Wasn't he a leader of his own group or something? Why was he here alone and not with them?" Pylia said with notable concern. Shortfang just shrugged at Pylia's questions. "Maybe he just adventurer? Don't always stick together. Before Shortfang meet Boss, sometimes he fight for other people, and leave later. Mercenary, they call." Even so Pylia shook her head and looked towards you. "I'd advise being careful around someone like him. He might seem experienced, but he was obviously trying to take advantage of your naivety. Decent healing potions are 50 gold each, and holy water is twenty five. Trying to buy two of each for just a hundred... I'm sure he knew that any smart merchant wouldn't go that low. But you're not a merchant and he knew that."

Sylvia commented "Strange..." after Buddy mentioned that Jackson was just a normal dog to him. She didn't forget the fact that Jackson roared in Garruk's face that time. Normal dogs in Keratia didn't do that...
She answered Pylia, "He was. That one guy back at the encampment also called him Boss," After Shortfang pitched his suggestion, Sylvia also added, "Or maybe his friends are exploring Gransys, or are waiting for him at the Bloated Float?" She had to admit it was a good question, but there were many possible answers, so she couldn't say what for sure.

She then blinked at Pylia's words. She commented "It's a good thing I didn't even try being a merchant then," She then nodded in agreement, and she said to Pylia, "I'll be careful around him. There's still a lot we don't know about him and Jackson, and these two meetings with him have raised more questions than answers about him..."

"Indeed. You need to be careful around the people here Sylvia. Most will be nice enough, but always be wary." Soon Ferric would return with Shor in tow. The captain had notable bags under his eyes but still seemed hale and hearty. Though you would also notice that it seems like he wasn't wearing all of his armor either, having stripped off his pouldrons and gauntlets for just his breastplate and leg armors. "Sylvia, glad to see you again. Sorry for being gone all day, things up at the castle have been... Difficult. Regardless, I heard from Yorik that you might be in some sort of trouble? Ferric has offered us a room for us to discuss our business in private, if you wish to continue there." If you did wish to follow, Ferric would show you to the private room. It was a fairly solidly build room with a hearth that had a small fire going, a low table, and two parallel couches facing each other. There were various tapestries hanging around the room to liven it up, depicting various dwarven people, warriors, and presumably rulers. Ferric also left a pitcher of water and cider for everyone, plus wooden mugs. He'd return to minding his shop while you speal to Shor.

Sylvia nodded quietly at Pylia's words. Before she could respond to Pylia, Ferric and Shor finally came back. She smiled at both of them, as she greeted Shor, "Glad to see you again as well, Shor. No need to apologize for being gone all day," After he mentioned that he heard from Yorik and offered to continue in the private room, she answered "Yeah, let's continue. We do have something important that we need to show you as well," She then followed Shor into the room.

She took a seat at the table, and thanked Ferric for the water and cider. After Ferric went back to minding his own business, Sylvia would proceed to pull out the cylinder, the map, and any other evidence they gathered from today. As she did, she spoke, "As Yorik probably told you, we are investigating the bouts of vandalism, and one of the perpetrators, Dimos, was willing to turn himself in, and help us catch not only the other gang members, but also the corrupt guards and the noble's son who is organizing and paying them to commit the acts of vandalism. Of course, we need help from guards we can trust, and you and your team are the only guards we know and trust. So, I apologize for the inconvenience,"

She then told him as she folded her hands together, "After we left Dimos in Yorik's care, we went to continue the investigation. We spoke with Kathie, the daughter of To the Point's shop owner, and she told us about the gang and who were the members, and how the guards weren't doing anything. She has noted that Rodey, a guard she trusts, has been switched to patrol a different place. But that's nothing in comparison to what we found next,"

She continued, "We stumbled upon a Dead Drop box with the Lightning Company's emblem on it. There, we found a map leading to the Throaty Mermaid tavern," as she mentioned this, she tapped on the childishly drawn map with two fingers. "Naturally, we weren't sure where this map lead at the time. When we got to the docks, we learned it was the Throaty Mermaid. When we got there, I was able to ask some questions to the bartender. He was able confirm that a pair of regulars, a pair of orcs named Banger and Mash, came in and spending a lot of coin on top shelf drinks and spending for the women they brought in. We also learned that they frequent an old brewery that's been shut down,"

She then continued, "So we went to investigate the old shut down brewery, this time with Syfr and Dinah, and thanks to Dinah, I was able to eavesdrop on a bit of their conversation. They were expecting their pay to be dropped off this time around. And well...let's just say that they're not getting it," She pointed to the canister. She explained, "After their conversation ended, I had Dinah leave her hiding spot, and she caught sight and whiff of a woman leaving really burnt and badly cooked cookies in a barrel, which is also a dead drop box for the Lightning Company. Saw the emblem on the brick near it. We checked it, and we found that," As she pointed to the cylinder, "In that cylinder is eighty platinum. The payment for the act of vandalism last night, and a hit list,"

She then finished, "I was also hoping that it may be possible to compare the writing from the hit list to the writing from the nobles. That may nail the noble who's organizing all of this,"

Shor quietly took in this information, stroking his beard. "You sure you aren't part of the city guard? Well, maybe better that you aren't. You've gotten much done and it's hardly sunset. Fine work there, Sylvia." Taking out his own notepad, Shor spoke about what he knew about the situation. "Aye, we've had suspicions that Erandel may be involved in some crimes in the city. His family owns supply caravans that take all manner of goods from their lands to other cities for trade, mainly herbs for medicine and lumber for construction. We've had eyes on him since a few months ago when there was a rise in contraband entering the city, though that was a blanket suspicion with all merchants, especially in light of Elysium activities. Investigations halted of course when the Duke took his men to the north, and so all of our efforts went back to maintaining the peace of the city over investigating previous cases. Sufficient to say, we'll need a lot before the guard can move in on him and make any sort of arrests, especially if we're too also accuse another squad of collusion." Shor reached into his jacket and put a silver badge on the table baring his emblem, the shield made of dragon wings with a sword at the center.

"This is a deputy badge. I have a few on hand in case I need to enlist people into a posse. As long as you have this, you may speak with my authority, Sylvia. You'll need it, as we need to find more proof in order to convict Erandel of his crimes and save the market from whatever scheme he's up you. To that end, I'd recommend you'd take your team and head back to that abandon brewery, and clear it out. Arrest anyone there who resists. Bring them back to me so that we can bring them in for questioning. If they try to claim ownership of the building, let them know that the old brewery is under ownership of the city, and anyone there will be arrested for trespassing and squatting." Shor then fished out two pairs of manacles. They looked like wooden planks with holes cut out on them with a built on lock on each. "A single note won't be enough to prove Erandel is responsible for anything, but multiple confessions can allow us more an opportunity to investigate into his business. Additionally, I'm sure there will be more evidence you can gather at that gang's hideout, either proof of Erandel's involvement or stolen goods they've taken from other merchants."

Closing his book and putting it away, Shor laced his fingers together to look back at you. "For now, I'll be looking into this Lightning Company. I've always known those bastards would be troublesome, but this blatant corruption will not go unanswered. Anything I find out, I'll write down and keep on my person, but I'll pass the information to the rest of my team when I get the chance. When you catch those criminals or find any evidence, bring them to my unit's barracks. We're just at the end of Ingot Street, you can't miss us. Aisha should be there right now to secure them." Sighing, Shor rubbed his eyes in a tired manner. But then he looked back up to you with a smile. "If we can get this done, that'll be one less problem off my mind. Oh yes, and I do have the coin if you wish to sell that Wakestone. 11000 gold in platinum bars. I left them here with Ferric for safe keeping, don't want to walk around with that much money on my person."

Sylvia smiled at the compliments given but she didn't let it get to her head. She focused on his words, and she nodded in understanding when he said that they were going to need more than just the note to convict Erendal. She picked up the deputy's badge, pinned it onto her robe, and after hearing Shor's recommendation, and to bring the criminals they catch to their unit at the end of Ingot Street, she nodded and answered "You got it, Shor," She also took the manacles and put them in the handy haversack. She didn't want to just be blatantly carrying them around and tip anyone off.

At the mention of having the coin for the Wakestone, she brought the mentioned stone, and she placed it on the table. As she did, she answered Shor, "That's understandable. Thank you, Shor. Here's the Wakestone,"

After giving the Wakestone to Ferric, she decided to bring up, "I think we should also let you know. Earlier today, there was a mimic attacking people. Thankfully, my friends and I were nearby to hear the commotion, so we got rid of it. But still, we don't know if that was the only mimic in town, or not,"

Shor just sighed hearing news about the mimics. "I really hope that doesn't have anything to do with Erendal, but I'll send Cera to look into it. Thanks for letting me know." Afterwards, Shor leaves to collect the money, coming back to you with the platinum bars. Unlike the bar you got from the mimic, these were solid and fairly thick, like small rods. They felt heavy in your hands. "Certainly easier to carry than a bunch of gold! Don't know how those adventuring folk do it. Can barely keep a hundred in a pocket. In any case, I gotta get back to work. See you around Sylvia." Shor takes the wakestone into his pocket and leaves Ferric's shop. Pylia and Shortfang just look at the bars. "Gods... That's a lot of money..." Shortfang climbed onto the table to pick on up. It was so dense and heavy he needed both hands to lift from the sides. "Boss boss, we should use money now! Buy super shiny things!"
