Ivory answered quickly, and Illyana flashed a small tense smile at her as she allowed her inside. The effects of Cora's giddiness had worn off, and now she was feeling a bit more serious, a bit more focused. The positive air of the evening had also left her energized, and she felt as though she could more easily take the psychic shock that she was about to subject herself to.

"Sorry to bother you, and yes, everything is fine." She paused slightly as she glanced around the trailer, squeezing her fingers with her opposite hand as was her anxious tic. "Would you mind if I had a look at that card? The one that...he gave you?" It was obvious what she meant, and she knew that Ivory was not unintelligent, but right now she felt the need to over-explain. Often this helped to ease her mind when she was feeling stressed.

Ivory could tell Illyana was more serious now, and a bit nervous, but she didn't rush her. It was when she finally spoke up that she glanced toward the target, where the card was currently kept, a knife directly in the center of the large spade.

"Ah right.. the card." She said. Part of her had almost forgotten about the fact she had wanted Illyana to take a look, but this was as best chance as any. They had a couple days until they arrived at their next town, which would give Illyana time to recover from whatever she might see. She was worried about the repercussions but.. she was also curious.

The dhampir rose to her feet and made her way across her dim lit trailer, grabbing the hilt of the knife buried into the card and pulling it out, before pulling the card out and sticking the knife back into the target. There were clearly multiple cuts from other past knives that had been thrown. Hopefully that wouldn't get in the way of anything Illy might see. She walked back over, and set the card on the table, instead of handing it to her directly.

"I hope the cuts don't get in the way." She said almost amusingly.

Illyana watched as Ivory made her way over to the target to retrieve the object she sought. Seeing it like this made her chuckle inwardly, she should have expected this from Ivory, after all.

Though the transfer of the item to the table in front of her took only a few seconds, her anxiety about what she was about to do made it seem like much longer. Even now, she could feel the energy pulsing from the laminated paper. She rubbed her hands together, feeling the slight sheen of sweat on them as she did.

When the card was in front of her, she smiled nervously up at the dhampir as she set the card down and mouthed the words "thank you", though her throat was too dry for any sound to issue forth. Noticing this, the would-be gypsy cleared her throat. "Thanks," she said, finally, and glanced back down at the card. It looked to her like a crucible as it laid before her, but the unknown was too tempting for her to resist. She had to see whatever it wanted to show her.

"Just..." she said, never taking her eyes from the card. "Stand nearby, in case." Her eyes darted to Ivory briefly, but landed back on the card.

"I'll take it from you if things get too crazy..." Ivory responded, stepping closer to her.

The corner of Illyana's mouth pulled back into a grim smile, but otherwise she did not react. Eventually, she reached out with shaking fingers and took a breath in to steel herself.

As soon as her skin made contact with the material, a flood of images rocketed through Illyana's brain, faster than the layman could blink. She saw Ivory, standing alone in a sea of darkness. It was oppressively black all around them, but Illy could see the dhampir. She looked confused, almost scared, as her blue eyes darted around the space as if searching for a way out.

Movement drew Illyana's eyes, and her head whipped over and she saw a tall, lean figure striding toward them from the darkness. Illyana squinted, but she could tell before the light from nowhere touched him that it was Geralt, just in the way he moved. She looked back to Ivory and saw that the woman had seen him as well, but the confusion had not left her features.

Slowly, as Geralt walked toward them, the blackness around them transformed into a sea of tiny pinpricks of light, like stars. Ivory and Illyana both looked up, their mouths opening in aw at the sight around them, and the sound of Geralt's footfalls grew ever closer.

Illyana watched Ivory, as she was the subject of the vision, and tried her best not to look at the Magician. Her eyebrows knitted together when she saw a smile break out on Ivory's pale face, not forced, not sarcastic, but a genuine and true grin, her eyes alight with happiness. Out of curiosity, she looked back at Geralt and he was smiling in turn, not his usual wicked expression, but one that Illyana had seen earlier this evening, or something like it. It was soft, welcoming, warm...unlike the man she knew.

As he reached the dhampir, he held out a hand, as if for her to take it. Ivory's confusion returned then, and her face fell as she looked from the outstretched hand to the man's face. She reached out to grasp his fingers, her hand shaking, but she took too long...

Before they could make contact, Geralt's smile split his face into a malicious specter of a man. It looked like it might tear his head in two...then he turned on his heel faster than the naked eye could catch, turning his back to the dhampir who reached for him.

Fear and surprise danced across Ivory's features. She looked down at her hand, beginning to shake her head, her mouth forming some words of protest, and then she was simply...gone.

Illyana could hear distant laughter as the scene went completely dark before her, the stars all around blinking out one by one until she was plunged once again into darkness. At first she thought it was Geralt's laughter...but it wasn't, there was a growl to it, a grittiness that the Magician's clear and strong tenor did not possess.

Then her vision clarified and she was back in Ivory's trailer. Her heart was pounding, her brow drenched in sweat. She had pulled her hand from the card so quickly that it had fallen off of the table. She was shaking and short of breath, her eyes were wild, as if she had just run a marathon. To Ivory, not but a second had passed, but to Illyana it had felt like hours.

Ivory had been watching Illyana intently, ready to act if she had to, but there hadn't really been any time to do so. The contact could not have lasted more than a second, before Illyana had yanked her hand away from the card. She didn't bother to pick it up as it fell to the floor, blue eyes focused on Illyana's form. She had clearly been shaken from whatever she had seen, but at least the reaction hadn't been as aggressive as when she had touched Lucien's.

She poured Illyana a glass of water, giving her a moment to recollect herself before she spoke. She was not as patient as Lucien.

"You okay?" She asked, pausing for a moment. "What did you see?" She asked, furrowing her eyebrows.

Illyana vaguely noticed Ivory's presence next to her as she filled a glass with water and offered it to her. She took it and sipped, her hand shaking as she brought the glass to her mouth. Overall, this vision had been powerful, but not nearly as bad as the one she had seen from touching Lucien's King of Hearts, or others she had in the past. She would be okay, she just needed a moment.

She nodded as Ivory spoke, taking slow deep breaths to calm her nerves before having a final sip of cool water from the glass. "I'm okay...just, shaken. You know how it goes..."

She wanted to tell Ivory everything, but it was so much to say...and she wasn't sure how she felt about the information itself. How would Ivory react to some of the more...unwlecome details? And what did the end of the vision signify...there was so much to figure out and all from just a flash.

"Sorry..." she said, realizing that she was taking a little longer to speak. "Just gathering myself..." her voice trailed off and she looked down at the card before she began to describe what she had seen. "You looked lost...alone at first, just surrounded by darkness." She glanced at Ivory after saying this, making sure that she said the last bit quickly, "Then I saw Geralt walking towards you, like he was made of shadow. The only sounds were his footfalls. He reached out to you and..." she paused for a moment, lowering her voice slightly, partially out of respect and partially out of fear, "You reached back. It looked like you were going to take his hand and then he turned away and you...you just disappeared."

She realized how crazy it sounded, but by now she was used to explaining what she had seen and noting the expression on people's faces. Most often it was surprise, then disappointment. Very rarely was there happiness, but anger was never in short supply. The things she saw...well, people didn't really know what they were asking for.

Even after being met with silence, Ivory did not speak up again, letting Illyana gather her thoughts. She couldn't deny the slight impatience she felt, but she tried not to show it. Though the vision had seemed to have lasted just a second, she wasn't sure exactly how much she had seen.

Her eyebrows furrowed as Illyana finally began to explain. At first she wasn't sure how to take it all.

"So ominous.." Were the first words that came out of her mouth. She knew better than to just shrug off Illyana's vision. This all meant something, but that didn't mean she didn't find it wasn't entirely confusing. Why the hell would she take his hand? Though she supposed she had taken his hand earlier today, but that was the past, she didn't think it counted.

Ivory shook her head. "I'm not letting this scare me, though. Symbolism's a big thing in your visions isn't it? We can try to pick it apart. Was the one you got from Lucien this.. strange?" She asked, taking a seat next to her.

Normally something like this would weigh heavy in the diviner's mind for some time, but Illyana was glad for Ivory's blunt way of speaking as it almost always helped to lighten the mood. It was better as well that she was not having an extreme reaction and was managing to maintain control. Illyana was not surprised by this, as the dhampir rarely let her emotions get the better of her. Even in front of Geralt, she maintained her cool confidence. In fact, Illyana could only remember seeing her loose her composure one time, and then it was entirely justified.

Of course, the woman was right; the vision had been ominous, to say the least. It was longer than Lucien's, yes, but had not packed the same psychic punch that the other had. This one had been gentler on Illyana's mind, but it had still left her almost reeling from shock, not only because of the mental trauma but because of exactly what she had seen. There were a lot of details to it, and now she found herself hoping that she hadn't missed anything vital to understanding it.

"You're right..." Illy finally said, nodding resolutely as she began to calm down, "Not to be scared, I mean. My visions are open to interpretation, especially from a secondhand item like this...so there are a lot of things to unpack. Lucien's was..." she paused as she tried to find the words, "shorter, but just as cryptic."

After a moment of thinking, of trying to remember exactly how Ivory looked in the vision, she realized something. "The look you had on your face..." she said, staring off into nothing as she visualized what she had seen, "I've never seen you make that face before...and the other only once. It was like...I don't know, you were different somehow." She was speaking without thinking now, as she often did when she was analyzing or trying to remember something. These were details that were sure to pique Ivory's intrest, but Illyana was not sure how much she should say. Often, in visions like this, the more the subject knew about it the worse it was for them. In all her years of reading, Illyana had discovered something: all that humans, and in this case others as well, want is to see the future, but once they do lay eyes on it, they spend the rest of their lives trying to change the way it looks. She didn't want to see this happen with Ivory, especially something so symbolic. She didn't expect this of the dhampir, but felt that caution was best in this moment anyway, if she could wrangle herself into holding back a little.

Ivory raised an eyebrow at what Illyana had said about the vision she had gotten from Lucien's card. She was hoping she would tell her what she had seen, but she hadn't offered up the information. She decided not to pry into it, only because it was possible that it had included something personal of Lucien's.

She crossed her arms. "I'll admit Geralt is mysterious. His true intentions are hard to gauge, but he does not scare me." She told her.

The dhampir was silent for a moment as Illy spoke up again, mostly because she recognized that look on her face, but her words made her sigh, not to mention curious. "Illy, you know you can't say things like that and expect me not to ask about them." She told her.

Ivory more than anyone knew just how well she was at maintaining her own composure. Her early days at the circus had been an exception... but she wasn't the same person she was then. Learning to control her emotions had allowed her an easier time in controlling her abilities. Despite her bouts of feeling irritated or annoyed, she knew there was a range of emotion she could not cross, or things could get dangerous. The last thing she wanted was for someone to get hurt because she couldn't control herself.

Illyana snapped out of her trance when she heard Ivory's voice again, and she remembered that she was sitting in a room with the young woman. She blinked several times until her eyes clarified, then looked back at her. She was instantly disappointed by the dhampir's words, knowing that she was giving her too much information and not enough at the same time. Although she was glad to hear that she was not afraid of Geralt, that was not as important as her second statement.

She shook her head, adopting an apologetic tone, "No, I'm sorry...I didn't meant it like that. It wasn't like before." She said this without realizing that she was speaking of something delicate and close to Ivory, something that others would be curious to hear about but that only she and Lucien really knew about. "You were confused at first..." she let her eyes fall to the floor once more as she began remembering again, visualizing what she had seen. "You looked like you were lost, almost dazed. It was all black and you looked like you were looking for a way out...then, there were these tiny lights, like stars, that just started appearing all around. You were happy then...at ease. Then, at the end when Gera--" she stopped herself mid-name, "When he turned away, you looked worried again and then you...you just...you were gone."

That was the best way she could put it without being more specific. Hopefully this would be enough, but there was no way of knowing until Ivory processed everything and responded. There were still details about this that were bugging Illy, but she couldn't quite put her finger on why.

Ivory averted her gaze, but only for a moment at her first words. The past was not something that was brought up between them, for personal reasons, but she didn't want to linger on the thought too long. If it wasn't the same, then she didn't have to worry about it. She preferred it that way.

She was silent, simply letting Illyana continue with her explanation. She shifted uncomfortably in her seat at her description of the darkness she had seemed to be trapped in. That, to her, was the most ominous thing about that vision, and to her the most concerning, but she tried not to reflect that in her expression. The rest of the vision was just.. confusing. From the stars, to the happiness. It just seemed.. out of place, for what came before and after.

"I don't get it." She said with a sigh. "Is this what you deal with everyday? It sucks." Trying to figure all of this out would give her a headache.

"You know what, it's fine, we don't have to figure it out right now. I'm probably not going to linger on it too much, but I'll keep tucked in the back of my mind. If you feel like you've figured something out that you feel like you should really tell me, go for it. Otherwise I'm good." She told her. It was better that way.

Illyana felt a wave of relief wash over her at Ivory's words. It wasn't that she didn't want to tell her everything, the vision did concern her after all, there were just a lot of things that could be interpreted in a lot of different ways. Usually in cases like this, she preferred to let the vision sit with her for a few days before she was able to give an accurate analysis of the contents. Most of the time with her clients, she would just recite the vision and let them do with it what they would. On rare occasions, clients could come back for a second or even third reading, and very few of that small number would pay Illy to write them a letter from wherever their next destination was with her analysis inside. This was a premium service and went for a high price, but for those who were willing to pay it, she was always honest and forthright. If clients would demand answers, or if she got a feeling from them like they were prone to anger or outbursts, she would have to lie to keep herself and her troupe safe. She absolutely detested having to do this, but something she had learned early on was that it was sometimes better for people not to know anything at all, and if they insisted, some version of the truth that they could handle.

She nodded at the dhampir's response and smiled in agreement, "It can be confusing, sometimes maddening...but it pays the bills," she shrugged, trying to match the young woman's aloofness. "I'll come to you if I remember something important, absolutely. This is so diluted that really it can be interpreted many ways. It's best not to worry about it if you don't have to, not right now. Sometimes its easier to let the puzzle fall into place, you know, over time, than force in pieces that don't fit." This was something that she knew Ivory would understand and agree with. For a dhampir, she was very reasonable, and often much more so than her clients could be.

Ivory couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at her comment. "Yes, it certainly does." She responded, before leaning back in her chair and stretching. She was about to speak up that maybe it was about time Illyana went to sleep, considering their travel time would be helpful from recovering from all the taxing vision she had to receive, but then she recalled something she had completely forgotten to mention.

"Oh!" She exclaimed. "I don't know how I forgot to mention this. Geralt gave Cora a card, the Queen of Hearts. It was yesterday morning, before we started practicing." She told her.

"He made it seem like she had dropped it, obviously she took it. Lucien was there for it, they had just finished their practice. I'm sure she'd gladly let you see it if you asked."

Illy, as usual, was startled by Ivory's exclamation, she herself deep in thought. She had been finishing off her water when the dhampir spoke and nearly dropped the glass, but managed to hold on to it.

She looked over at the other woman with furrowed brows, "Did he? ..hhmm..." she said, placing her free hand against her chin as she thought. The Queen of Hearts...interesting. Lucien had received the King of that suit, which made sense considering his intentions with the man. Ivory's card almost made sense...except that he had given it to her on their first meeting. He had to be choosing them, there was no way that he was doing it randomly. The Ace of Spades was a powerful card in the standard deck of 52, the highest value in poker and most other games...truly a representative of a force. But why Ivory? That, Illyana would have to work hard to understand, njust as she was with the vision.

After a moment lost in thought, she looked back at Ivory and thrust the glass toward her. "I'll ask her about it first chance I get. Thank you for letting me know..." she said, then looked toward the door. "I better go...its getting late and we have a long travel ahead of us tomorrow."

Ivory gave Illyana an apologetic glance for startling her. Sometimes she forgot how easily surprised the woman was. It seemed she became a little lost in thought after that, so she left her to her thoughts. This whole card thing was a little strange, but it wasn't particularly concerning. It could be similar to something Akane did with the origami she gave everyone, but she didn't think the reason was something so simple. Or maybe it was? Geralt seemed like the type of person who would simply enjoy making them overthink everything he did. Honestly it was all such a pain.

She looked back at Illy as she spoke up again and nodded. "Yeah, no problem." She said. "That's probably best. Do try to get some proper rest will you? Don't let this whole vision thing keep you up, I know I'm not going to be letting it get in the way of my sleep." She told her, before rising to her feet to see her out.

"Goodnight, Illy." She told her, watching her scurry off for a moment before finally closing her door. She walked back to her table and leaned down to pick up the card that still lay on the floor. It was upon picking it up that she realized that the holes caused by her knives were no longer there. The card was good as new. Something else to mention to Illy at one point she supposed. It made her curious as to how much damage this card could really take, but she didn't feel like trying to figure that out right now. Instead, the dhampir made her way back to the target, taking the knife that was there out before jabbing it back into the card.

With that, she returned to her work desk, deciding she'd stay up a little longer before actually heading to sleep.

Illyana gave the dhampir a reassuring smile before turning towards the door. "I won't, promise," she said, then exited as quickly as possible. While she did not intend her statement as a lie, she knew that she would not be able to coax her brain into unconsciousness for a while. She would try her best, however, but knew that she would have to at least consult the Tarot to see if the cards had anything to offer her. This wouldn't take long though, and then she would be off to sleep. Hopefully by the time they reached the next town, she would have a little more information about their mysterious new addition.

----------------

Unfortunately for her, even the impostor-gypsy's visions could not have prepared her for how long it would take to get the answers she sought. Cirque D'étoiles traveled their circuit for the next month, stopping in three more towns along the way. Geralt's addition to their troupe continued to rack up vast amounts of money and patrons, and his stunts and free admission were the perfect incentive for folk who had been suffering long from the Great Depression.

The troupe members themselves had learned to adapt to their new member rather quickly, but their attitudes did not seem to change towards him despite his obvious efforts. Despite their contact and pleasantries the night of his party, Ivory did not go out of her way to avoid or to initiate any exchange between herself and the magician and he did not either. Because they no longer needed to practice their transition, the only times they ever saw each other were during the big top show and occasionally at meals, when Ivory would attend them. Their relationship became null and void, and so the Magician even found himself uninterested in trying to present himself to her. It was clear that his efforts were in vain, the vampiress was not going to change her mind.

Illyana was able to glean a vision from Cora's Queen of Hearts card, but it was much less telling and energized than the other two. All she saw was the mermaid and Geralt dancing together under the light of the full moon. She was smiling with elation, her legs and feet moving on their own as if she had been magically transformed into a human woman. The Magician was not smiling, but looking over the girl's shoulder at a figure cast in shadow as if he were trying to catch their attention. Illy assumed this represented Lucien. The only other significant thing she noticed was that Cora was wearing what looked to be a fox fur wrap...which was concerning, but left out of her description when she explained what she had seen to the girl.

Cora herself was not concerned with this in any way, and in fact forgot it had even happened only several days later. She kept the card, however, and placed it against the glass of her trailer on the outside so she could look at it when she wanted. She and Akane still spent a great amount of time together, and though she knew that something had changed between them, neither of the women pursued any other intentions than friendship. Back underwater, Cora had seen relationships blossom between two mermaids before and sometimes they even became romantic, but this was usually to help raise the children that either of the partners would produce and was more of a deep friendship than anything sexual. Cora had never experienced the feelings that she had for Akane, and so did not know how to approach them and was unsure whether these types of feelings would be reciprocated or even appropriate. Her fear and confusion about their interactions kept her from saying or doing anything out of the ordinary with the kistune, though she was more frequently embarrassed or flustered around the woman. No one seemed to notice this or comment on it, though she did catch Geralt watching her when she and Akane would interact on occasion, but she thought nothing of this.

Illyana continued her research to try and determine what was going on with their newest member as well, though she had not gotten far. She would not be willing to say any theory aloud until she was at least ninety-nine percent sure that it was correct, so she kept this to herself. On occasion, Ivory would help her research, which had lead both woman to eliminating several possibilities. Early on, Illyana had thought it was possible that Geralt could be an avatar or Leprechaun. At this point, she was almost sure that the Magician was entirely human and that his powers came to him after birth from some source, but was unsure exactly when or by what means. There were many possibilities, and the Magician had not shown her any other abilities that she had not seen already and very closely guarded talking about his past or anything to do with himself before he had joined them. It was clear that he was well-versed on special or supernatural people and creatures, but she had no idea how many of his anecdotes were actually true or were just things he had made up to impress someone or another. At this point, she was just waiting for another piece of information to point her in the right direction, and had come to a standstill in her reading.

The Magician himself had attempted for the next two weeks to maintain a cordial and open attitude to each member of the troupe, aside from the gypsy and vampiress. They were not worth his time and made that clear in each interaction. Aurel had become slightly more comfortable around him, but remained guarded and kept his snakes away from him. Akane and Cora now considered themselves Geralt's friends and would speak with him openly, but they were beginning to bore him by the time they reached their second destination. This was also true of his shows, which were droll and repetitive for him. It had been a long time since he had been expected to do the same show over and over again with no large stunts, noting death-defying or dramatic, and no assistant to increase mystique. By their third stop, he had begun taking shortcuts with his shows when Lucien was not present. Though he had seemingly lost interest in the rest of the members of Cirque D'étoiles, he was hell-bent on pursuing the Nephilim's body and mind. Though his attitude was becoming soured by the repetition of his life and place among the troupe members, he maintained his carefully constructed facade around the man. He wasted no time in cashing in the rain check for a drink one night after the show, and though he did put on all of the charm he could muster, it was clear that Lucien was not going to give up the ghost that easily. Geralt had been incredibly disappointed by this, and his parasitic companion's frustration was beginning to outline the cracks in the mask that the Magician was forcing himself to wear. He begun to lash out, at first just toward the rubes and carnies, and occasionally the guests of the show, but eventually his negative attitude even showed itself to the other troupe members. Though he was careful not to act this way in front of Lucien, he was not as concerned with the other's opinions of him and so began to act more himself, which could occasionally be mean and uncalled-for. Illyana, Ivory, and Aurel were sensitive to this and had begun to react to his comments and jokes, but Akane and Cora either didn't notice or would act hurt when he would say something even slightly crass. It was no matter, they were not of consequence unless it reflected poorly on him with his prize.

Cirque D'étoiles headed south and was on its way from Salt Lake City, Utah to St. George. They had planned to stop their for a circuit, but an oil well had exploded and so they moved on, despite Lucien's concern and want to help. No matter how unlikely, Illyana and Geralt both had agreed that it would only be a waste of time, even the Nephilim could not bring back the dead. So, the troupe had moved on and changed their destination to a town called Mesquite, just inside the boarder of Nevada. They were a day's travel away but decided to stop at a nearby water reservoir to bathe. Ivory had ingeniously constructed a shower system and the entire troupe, carnies included, had taken advantage of this so that they were fresh for the next batch of patrons.

The next three stops had gone fairly smoothly, and had done well to further balance their financial state. The addition of Geralt the Great to their troupe had definitely increased the public turnout. Not only was his name bringing in people that might normally have skipped a circus visit due to his free admission to children, but it allowed the other performers to receive visits they could have missed out on because a couple couldn't afford to take in their child with them. Lucien's stress was slowly beginning to ease as everything was falling into place. Generally it was all going well, but behind the scenes there were some who were taking note that some things were changing.

Geralt was still as mysterious to the troupe now as he had been when he joined them. Ivory was still keeping an eye on him, but wasn't really going out of her way to seek any interaction with the man, mostly because for her there wasn't any need to. It was clear after some time that he had clearly stopped trying to converse with her, which she had been perfectly okay with. She continued with her everyday life and routine, and had even adapted to waking up earlier than she used to before Geralt had joined them. What Ivory had taken note of however was that Geralt's attitude was slowly deteriorating. It wasn't obvious to those who weren't paying attention, but either he was getting careless... or maybe he simply didn't care about putting up appearances with them anymore, at least when Lucien wasn't around. Ivory and Illy had known it would only be a matter of time until this happened. Part of her was glad that they hadn't been wrong, but at the same time she felt bad for Cora and Akane, who hadn't taken as much notice as they had.

Lucien was seemingly the only person that Geralt refused to show this attitude in front of, that much had been made very clear to Aurel, Ivory and Illyana. It was a little irritating, needless to say, but none of them decided to say anything about it, but only because it hadn't really caused anyone harm. Ivory would much prefer Geralt slipped in front of Lucien all on his own, but she had decided she would not hesitate to speak up if he did something that they could not ignore.

Aurel and his snakes were still watchful of Geralt, but he at least managed to not be as nervous around him as before, mostly because he had become used to his presence here. The full moon had come and gone during their second stop, with thankfully no more questions from Geralt about the matter. He wasn't sure if he had noticed Lucien sitting out on top of his trailer all night.. but it didn't seem to have come up in any inquiries. He had finally grown used to not always carrying a snake with him at all times, which was something that he hoped he wouldn't have to continue doing for much longer. Having them around helped put him at ease. His snakes had finally grown used to the Magician's unsettling presence, so he didn't think he had to be too worried about any lashing out occurring, specially now that the man's attitude seemed to slowly be changing. It was.. concerning to him, because part of him worried that the situation would turn into one he was all too familiar with. Still, he tried not to reflect that concern, mostly because.. things were different now.

Currently, the troupe was stopped near a water reservoir where they had refilled the water they used for their bathing to get cleaned up before filling it once more and heading on their way. Over the previous years, Ivory had been trying to work on a decent shower mechanism for them to all use while on the road, and had tried many methods until she had reached their current system. This involved filling large container of water which she had managed to install a pitcher pump into the top of. She had attached a sturdy string from the bottom of the lever of the pump to a foot pedal, that one could use when taking their shower to get more water. This way only the needed amount of water would be used, and none would get unnecessarily wasted. It required setup to use, so it was best suited for when they made overnight stops at lakes or during their actual show stops. Since they were planning to refill anyway, right now was the best time for everyone to make use of it. Half of the members had already taken their shower, and Aurel was the one currently making use of it at the moment.

The shower system had been set up behind one of the large trailers, out of sight of everyone else to further add to the privacy given to the one making use of it. Even though it did have curtains, it was just an extra measure to give them a peace of mind. Liquorice, his garter snake, was resting at the very top of the pump while Aurel took his shower. He stopped pumping the water as finished washing out the shampoo from his hair. He began to think it might be best if he asked Lucien to cut it soon, as it was getting a little too long and was becoming more of a hassle to manage. There had been plenty of times in the past where he had Lucien cut it, but he had never really tried a short hairstyle, it wasn't really something he was used to, and the long hair worked well for his performances. Outside of that he'd usually tie it, so it was never really in his way. If Lucien wasn't busy, perhaps he would go seek him out to cut a few inches off after he was finished with his shower.

Geralt had been as close to overjoyed as he could have been by their stop to refill the troupe's "shower". Days on the road had left him dusty and sour with sweat, and he absolutely detested being unclean. It was one of the reasons that he had never gone on his own road show in the past. He supposed he had been spoiled by decades of first class train cabins and town cars, but just because a situation asked that he lower himself didn't mean he wasn't going to agree to it. It had been hard for him to even leave his trailer feeling this way and he had even resorted the sleeping in the nude, which wasn't necessarily out of the ordinary for him, but it had made for a talking point that he had been dying to bring up in front of Lucien.

Once their train had stopped, he gave the carnies plenty of time to set up and refill the shower before he decided it was his turn. If he didn't show his face, he wouldn't be expected to help. Once he was ready, he put the book he had been reading away, got undressed and made his way over to the shower wrapped only in a towel. He looked about out of the corner of his eyes as he walked over, but saw no troupe members in sight. How droll, he had managed to walk over without anyone taking a glance...oh well, he would have to be sure someone saw him on the way back.

As he approached the shower, he paused when he saw a shadow behind the curtain. Judging by the height and shape, it had to be either Aurel or Lucien. Of course, Geralt hoped for the latter, but would be alright with either outcome. He quieted his footsteps to near-silent and slowed his pace as he heard the water shut off. Perfect. A slow smile curled across his lips at the thought of what he might find behind the curtain, and with the water off, he had the perfect excuse.

He waited a moment, listening to see if he could tell who it was before he slid the curtain back, but the occupant made no sound.Once he was only a few steps away, he made his footfalls a little louder, reached for the curtain and yanked it back quickly, but not violently. Alas, it was not his intended target that he had walked in on, but Aurel.

Damn. The Magician thought. The lad's back was to him, luckily, but he had pulled his long platinum hair over his shoulder and appeared to be ringing it out. Just before he looked back in surprise and embarrassment, Geralt caught a glimpse of the scars that criss-crossed Aurel's back. He was simply covered in them, and Geralt's knowledge of fetishism told him that these were likely left from the sting of a whip.

"Oh!" He shouted, "My apologies, Aurel." He averted his eyes but still held the curtain open as he continued to speak, "I didn't know anyone was in here. I was so excited to be able to bathe I just...excuse me." He was sure that his voice was apologetic, but a glint in his eye remained, along with the trace of that wicked smile on his lips. He simply couldn't help but be pleased by this victory, no matter how small. Seeing others recoil in shame was one of the few pleasures he still enjoyed in life. Since he'd had so few opportunities as of late, he would have to make this moment last as long as he could.

Aurel had jumped slightly upon hearing the curtain drawn opened, and looked over his shoulder to see that it was none other than Geralt. His embarrassment was obvious on his pale skin, but he hadn't wasted too much time in grabbing his towel and wrapping it around his waist, before turning around, shifting his hair to cover his back. The man certainly appeared apologetic, but he wasn't really sure if that was true, considering he hadn't stepped back or drawn the curtain closed again. Well.. at least he wasn't staring. Geralt was certainly lucky it hadn't been one of the girls he had walked in on, and he much preferred this than the magician walking in on Lucien.

"It's alright... I had just finished anyway.." He told him. "If you give me a moment to change.. I'll free this up for you." He added, hoping that'd get him to leave.

Geralt wanted so badly to look up again, to watch Aurel squirm under his gaze...but he couldn't make his intentions that obvious. If Lucien heard even a version of that story, he would have to explain himself, and he absolutely hated explaining himself. With an inward sigh, he shook his head and said, "Oh, of course, of course, how silly of me." He chuckled, sounding embarrassed himself, before stepping back and letting the curtain fall closed between them.

Those scars were not made in lust, Geralt, the boy has suffered. He will suffer more. We will make it so.

The Magician's companion had grown more and more impatient with each passing day, which certainly had not helped the man's mood. He was frustrated enough with himself for having made no progress with the object of his desire, and seeing no change in their relationship was beginning to grate on him. He'd thought for a moment when Lucien had excepted his proposal for the outing that had been promised, they may at least progress to something more sexual, but nothing had come of that night. It had been drinks between friends, as Lucien had made very clear to him. Despite the fact that the magician could feel a return of attraction from the Nephilim, the man was unwilling to act on it. It was as if he had put up a wall between the two of them, and try as he might Geralt could not scale it. He had been quite depressed by this, and responding to threats and angry taunts from the creature that shared his body had drained him of energy for other emotion. It simply didn't seem to grasp that this situation was more delicate than most, that Geralt would have to woo the man before he could make him fall. The creature would not accept this explanation and had been making its presence more and more of an inconvenience to the Magician, which had soured his mood entirely. On top of that, his shows were much less than fulfilling, and he was becoming bored with the same desperate act night after night for mere children. Every chance it got, the creature reminded him that he used to be a famous Magician, that he called the shots and ran the night, and that now he was under the thumb of a 'filthy winged half-breed'. It was all very tiresome, to say the least, and now the only thing keeping him around was the promise of obtaining the ultimate prize, which seemed not to be getting any closer.

As all of these thoughts and feelings hit him as he stood outside of a makeshift shower in only a towel, the fake expression he had been holding dropped. Though he did not open the curtain, his eyes slid in its direction so he could see if Aurel's shadow would make any reaction to what he said next.

"Forgive my bluntness, Aurel, but as you don't seem to be the adventurous type, I assume those scars were made in a...non-consensual manner?" He watched the figure of Aurel behind the curtain closely, waiting to see if his words struck the nerve he was aiming for.

Aurel hadn't wasted any time in moving to begin to dress himself as Geralt had finally given him his privacy, not really taking as much time as he usually would have, considering the Magician was waiting right outside. At the question that broke the silence, however, Aurel froze, having been in the process of putting on his shirt. It had lasted only a moment, as he then quickly moved to adjust it. Of course he had seen them.. His back was turned to him when he had opened the curtain. He had done a really good job in not letting Geralt see them.. even the other times they had stopped by lakes to refill Cora's tank, he had always been careful. He was unsure of how much he wanted to share. Only Lucien and Illy knew the whole story after all...

"Yes..." He responded simply, but it was clearly something he held no desire to talk about. Looking up, Aurel tapped on the glass of the water, to waken Liquorice. The snake then crawled off the side and wrapped around his arm.

"Be good.." He muttered to the snake, considering he had been one of the two he had on his person the day he had first met Geralt and him and Jade had hissed at him. He hadn't really interacted with him since then, since he had been keeping his snakes away.

"...I sstill don't like him.." The snake responded, but Aurel didn't say much else, considering Geralt would most likely overhear. He drew the curtain open again.

"All yours.." He said. "You haven't used it before right? Do you want me to show you?" He asked him, hoping to change the subject.
