Lucien was relieved to see Illyana open her eyes. It seemed despite not responding he had acknowledged his words, as he could tell she was taking in deep breaths. That was good, it meant she was aware of everything, even if she could not respond. That in itself was relieving. It was strange to see her lack any panic in regards to the situation, had this perhaps happened to her before? He would have to ask her about it later, just to be sure they could be prepared if it happened again.

He nodded in agreement at Faolan's words. "That would be best." He said. "Illyana, I know it must be hard for you to speak, but before we go, is it alright to leave these things behind?" They were her belongings, after all. The girl had managed just a slight nod of her head, and that was enough for Lucien.

"Alright, I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to pick you up okay?" Unfortunately it wasn't like the girl could walk back on her own. He was careful as he did it, being sure not to touch her unnecessarily as he picked her up in his arms and motioned for Faolan to lead the way, knowing he'd keep a good look out.

He waited for Faolan to give them the okay, before they left the way they came in. Luckily they were able to make it back to the bus without any issue, and were met with Aurel's worried expression.

"I didn't see anyone while you were gone, is she okay?" He asked worriedly, seeing the girl in Lucien's arms.

"I think she had some sort of seizure, but I think she will be alright, just needs a bit of time to recover." He told him, setting the girl down on the bench. Aurel brought over some water just in case she needed it, which Lucien thanked him for.

The teenager wanted to ask what had happened and what they had seen, but he knew right now was not a good time, so instead he waited, keeping a bit of a distance as to not crowd Illyana too much.

Illyana did her best to respond to Lucien's questions. Though agency was returning to her, it was slow and steady and she knew not to rush it. Her body just needed to catch up to her again. She would have preferred that he didn't pick her up, but there was no other way to get out of the house unless they waited, and that wouldn't be safe either. She would just have to bare it an hope for now.

Faolan was also relieved to see that the girl was responding to Lucien, that at least meant that no irreversible damage had been done in her fall. Once Lucien was gathering her up, the Irishman lead the two of them out the way they had come in. It was fortunate for them that they did not run into anyone and that neither he nor Aurel had spotted any wandering eyes.

When they reached the bus, Faolan shut the door behind them and stood awkwardly next to Lucien as he set the girl down. He flashed a tight smile to Aurel to show him that everything was okay, but the worry was plain on his face. It was clear that they did not have all of the facts, and that what they didn't know could put them in danger. Faolan had kept the three of them safe all of these years, and he would be glad to do the same for Illyana, but she was revealing herself to be a greater risk that he had known originally, and that worried him.

"I hate to do this..." he said, keeping his voice low, "But we need to move. The longer the bus stays here, the more conspicuous we become." He then glanced at Illyana, who was lying on her back and blinking slowly as she regained control over herself, "We won't go far," he said directly to her, then didn't wait for approval before moving to the driver's seat and throwing the bus into drive.

During the travel, Illyana was able to recover from her...episode. As the bus bumped along, she felt feeling returning to her body and her strength, though sapped, slowly build back up in her muscles. She realized at some point during the drive that she was still clutching her sister's barrette in her hand, and held it tightly against her chest. She felt like crying, but no tears would fall. She knew that there would be questions waiting once she was able to speak, and she knew she would have to answer them all...truthfully this time. Now that her situation was revealed, she was sure that Faolan and Lucien would refuse to help her until she told them everything. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad...they were...special too. Maybe they would understand?

Faolan did not take them far, as promised. He pulled the bus into the first lot they found that was no occupied by other vehicles, buildings or people. It appeared to be the remains of a hardware store, closed. He pulled the bus around the back of it to keep them away from prying eyes, then parked. Lucien had stayed back with the girl as they drove, likely to make sure she didn't fall from the bench. The Irishman leaned over the seat and met his gaze, then nodded discreetly toward the bus door. They needed to talk, privately.

Lucien knew that staying here would be too dangerous, so he did not disagree with Faolan when he said they should go. Lingering any longer would end up being too suspicious to the lingering neighbors. As he went to the front of the bus, Lucien focused his attention on Illyana. Slowly it seemed that she was beginning to recover, which was incredibly revealing.

This whole situation.. it was unfortunate. There was absolutely no doubt in their minds that Illyana had been abandoned by her parents. All of their suspicions were becoming more likely by the minute, from the picture they had seen to the fact they had only left her things behind.. they didn't want her, and that was hard for him to think about. He could only imagine how all of this was having an affect on the girl. This confirmation however made it absolutely clear that there were things she wasn't telling them, and he knew even though he did not like to pry, it was important for them to ask her about them, if they had any chance of providing her with proper assistance.

Aurel had taken a seat on the cot as he watched Lucien and Illyana, clearly worried, but not saying anything. He was anxious to know what they had discovered, but knew it was best to wait until Illyana was better. As they had made their stop, he took note of the look Faolan had given Lucien. He didn't say anything, but he did scoot closet to the bench, his way of showing that he'd keep a watch over Illyana while they were gone.

Lucien could easily recognize the look on Faolan's face. With everything they had just discovered he figured it was only a matter of time before Faolan would want to discuss their next move. He glanced over Illyana one more time before he rose to his feet, and followed Faolan quietly out the door. They had.. a lot of things to figure out.

Faolan left his seat, glancing at Aurel before both he and Lucien exited the bus. The teenager would know what he meant.

He lead Lucien a little way away from the bus so their conversation would not be overheard. Though he knew that Illyana was a smart girl, and she was probably preparing herself for an inquisition, he wanted to make sure that he and Lucien were on the same page about what they were supposed to do next.

When he was confident that they would not be listened to, he turned to Lucien and crossed his arms. "That poor girl..." he said this very quietly, more so than he needed to, and dropped his eyes to the floor. Despite the persona that the Irishman usually wore, this experience had humbled and softened him. He felt this girl's pain in the same way that he felt Aurel's, but the barrier she had put up between herself and others was particularly troublesome to him.

He bit his lip, sighed, then uncrossed his arms and hooked his hand behind his neck. "Lucien, I don't want to...but we have to know what's going on. She needs to tell us everything, the truth...or we won't be able to help her." Though his words were harsh, his tone was soft and calm. He looked into his lover's eyes, hoping that the man would not see how deeply this had effected him. Sympathy was not an emotion that Faolan was used to processing, and this had been...just a little too much for him.

Lucien followed Faolan quietly as created some distance between them and the bus. When Faolan finally spoke up, he looked up at him, hearing his quiet voice. He could see.. the pain in his eyes, even if he was trying so hard to hide it. He couldn't deny feeling the same. This situation was... difficult. This was not something any child should ever experience.

Unable to stand seeing him this way, he gave his surroundings a small glance for a moment before he reached out and took Faolan's hand into his own, gently pulling it closer to himself.

"I know.." He responded. This was something he was not going to argue with him over. He knew very well they couldn't move forward without knowing.

"I don't like it either.. but I know we have to ask her to tell us the truth, I agree with you." He reassured him, not wanting him to beat himself up too much over the decision.

"I know that this is different from when we found Aurel. She.. had a family and a place she wanted to return to.. I do want to help her. We just.. need to know what actually occurred.." He said quietly, giving his lover's hand a small squeeze.

--

Once Lucien and Faolan had gone, Aurel turned his attention to Illyana. He could tell the girl was suffering based on expression alone. That was enough to confirm that things hadn't gone well, and that it was likely their suspicions had been true. His gaze shifted back to the ground.

"Illyana.. I'm sure that.. you must be going through a difficult time.. I just.. want you to know that no matter what, Lucien and Faolan will help you. They.. found me as a child too.. and they took me in and helped me.. I just want you to know that.. you can trust in them." He spoke to her, not particularly expecting her to answer, but as long as she took in his words.. that was fine.

Faolan didn't hesitate to return the grip that Lucien was giving his hand. Normally, out in the open like this, he wouldn't condone or reciprocate such action, but he needed comfort and he was glad that Lucien was able to give it. He wanted nothing more than to crush the Nephilim to him in a hug, kiss his face, his lips, his neck...but he held back, satisfying himself with the touch of his lover's hand. A small smile even tugged at the corner's of his mouth, but did not unfold completely. This was too heavy for happiness.

"I'm glad you agree..." he said, not pulling his hand away until Lucien was ready to let it go, "I don't want to put this on you but...I'm not sure if my...disposition is good for questioning." The Irishman let his gaze fall to the ground. Although it did seem that Illyana was more comfortable with him than he had anticipated, he wasn't sure how she would react to him delving into her personal life. "But," he added, making eye contact with Lucien, "I'll sit next to you and ask things if I think of them. We need to know everything about what happened, and the truth this time."

----------------------

Once the bus was stopped and the dizziness had faded from behind Illyana's eyes, she managed to force herself into a sitting position on the bench. She slip along it, pushing her back against the wall and let her legs hang down freely. She blinked hard, and eventually the pounding headache subsided into a dull discomfort. She was used to this part.

She noticed Aurel nearby and that Faolan and Lucien had left, but didn't say anything and didn't meet the teenager's gaze. She knew that questions were coming and that the adults knew that she had lied. She felt...ashamed for it. Even though, at the time she'd had a very good reason for not revealing the truth to them, she was not proud of what she had done. She would have to tell them the truth and just hope that they would still want to help her after they learned it...

At Aurel's words, she raised her water-filled eyes to him and her bottom lip began to quiver. It was strange that she wanted to cry now when he was trying to comfort her, but she knew that it was because she was not used to this kindness from adults, and from strangers no less. It made her feel even worse for her fibs, but she knew that Aurel didn't know what she was thinking and that he didn't intend for her to feel bad. In the same way that she felt a protective aura radiating from Faolan, and the choir of angels sang to her every time Lucien was near, she could sense a softness in Aurel, a kindness and a naivete from him that made her trust him. She wondered, not for the first time, what kind of feeling she gave to others and if it was just as pleasant...

After he spoke, she nodded and wiped her cheek with her sleeve, sniffling a little as she felt her sinuses opening up. After a moment of silence she took to compose herself, she looked up and responded, "I know...thank you, Aurel. I do trust them, and you too...it's just..." she tore her eyes away and looked at the window, imagining that she could look out into the clear sky beyond. "It's hard sometimes." Was all she could manage. She knew if she said anything else, she might start crying.

Lucien maintained his grip on Faolan's hand, not particularly inclined to release it until he absolutely had to.

"I'll do my best to get the answers we need. What's most important right now is for us to reassure her that we will help her no matter what she tells us. I can tell she's afraid.. I want her to be able to trust us." He said.

"She does appear comfortable with you.. it seems she's a fairly good judge of character. I'm sure she can see the kindness in you." He said with a small smile, before placing a kiss on his lover's hand. It was easy to see how much Faolan had changed over the years. He would smile more than he used to, and his expressions were more relaxed. It made him happy to see how much he had opened up.

"Let us go back, she might have recovered by now." He said, giving the bus a small glance.

---

Aurel gave Illyana a small glance. He could hear the slight quiver in her voice. This.. was clearly hard for her.

"I understand... I'm sure there are some things that aren't easy to talk about.. just know that they will not be angry with you for holding back.. I'm sure they understand you had your reasons.. so try not to worry okay?" He told her, not really wanting to be the one to ask her anything else. He didn't want to make her cry.

Faolan couldn't help but smile this time as he felt Lucien's cool lips touch the back of his hand. It always lit a fire in him when the Nephilim showed affection, but he knew that now was not the time.

He nodded in agreement to Lucien's plan and observation, and a light blush touched his cheeks. He rubbed the back of his head with his free hand and looked away, trying to hide the embarrassment plain on his features. Lucien always said that about him, that he was caring and kind, and that despite his rough exterior people could tell that he was kind. It always made him feel a little off-center. The Irishman had never thought of himself as kind until Lucien had said it to him...and he had just recently begun to believe it.

After a moment of almost strained silence, Faolan glanced back at the bus and nodded once more, "Yeah, I can hear Aurel's voice." The boy had never been one to talk to himself, so Faolan knew the girl must have regained consciousness. The two men began to walk back, and just before Faolan pulled his hand from Lucien's, he turned, took the man by the shoulder and planted a kiss on his forehead. He hadn't even bothered to look around until after it was over, and then he could tell that no one was watching.

With renewed confidence, the man let go of his lover's hand, though he could still feel the lingering coldness of his skin.

----------------------------------------------------

Illyana was on the verge of tears, but she knew that crying now was not a good idea. It would only lessen her credibility, make the adults take pity on her, and pity was not something that Illyana had ever wanted. All of her young life, she had been told that she was strange, unwelcome, a freak, a mistake...but deep inside she knew this wasn't true. She didn't want anyone to pity her, she only wanted their help and their acceptance.

She took a deep breath and wiped her eyes, feeling the moisture receding a little. She was still unable to smile, but she gave Aurel a firm nod instead to show that she heard him and would take his advice. If she couldn't trust others that were...unwelcome, then who could she trust? She would just have to take that leap now, for her sister's sake and for her own.

Lucien gave Faolan a smitten smile after the kiss he was given. While he of course wanted to take his lover in his arms, but that was something he would have to save for another time. Feeling a little better about the situation, he walked back to the bus with Faolan.

Upon entering, his golden eyes immediately drifted to the girl, relieved to see that she was looking much better. Her sadness was still reflected in her eyes, but it was hard to offer her any words of comfort without fully knowing the entire situation.

"Are you feeling better..?" He asked her, firstly more concerned with her state of well being. The girl only gave a small nod in response. Quiet, but at least still reassuring. He wanted to make sure she would not need anymore healing before they proceeded. He pulled up a chair from the corner of the bus and took a seat near her.

"Illyana.. I want to start off by telling you that we are not angry with you. We understand that there are some things people would rather not share. We do not blame you for not telling us the truth. I want you to know that Faolan and I do want to help you, but to make sure we approach the situation correctly, we need to know what really happened..." He told her, his tone soft. He held no anger or reproach in his expression, only concern.

Illyana felt her heart leap into her chest when the door to the bus opened and Faolan and Lucien returned. Immediately, she dropped her eyes to the ground and gripped the edge of the bench in her anxiety. Her rational brain knew that she had no reason to fear these men, she could tell they would never do anything to hurt her physically or emotionally, at least not on purpose. But years of scoldings had trained her subconscious to expect the worst when adults wanted a word.

At Lucien's question, the girl nodded and found herself awash with a feeling of calm. Slowly, she felt her breathing become more rhythmic and her grip on the bench loosened a little. She was still not used to the effect that radiated from Lucien, and it took her a little bit to absorb it fully. Eventually though, she felt herself relaxing the closer Lucien got. Her anxiety, though it was still there, was much less powerful.

Slowly, she looked up when he sat in front of her, but only managed to focus on the man's chin. She could not yet bring herself to look into his eyes. She listened to his explanation, and though it hurt her to think that she had lied to such kind people, she could not shake the compulsion to explain everything.

Before she spoke, she looked up to Faolan who had also entered the bus. He was standing near the front driver's seat, one hand in his pocket, the other resting on the back of the seat. He was looking directly at her, but his gaze was no cause for concern. She could feel the gentleness, the protective instinct radiating from him as well. How had she never felt these things from her own parents? Just confusion, anger and...fear. She owed them nothing and gave them everything with her silence. It was time to set things right.

"What really happened..." she began, quietly, thinking back on the events that had left her stranded on the side of the road. She started slowly, but eventually her words picked up speed. The more she talked, the more she wanted to just...get everything out, to rid herself of the awful weight that sat on her shoulders.

"I didn't get lost camping...but I know you already know that. My parents they...." she paused, taking a deep breath to steel herself. She fixed her eyes on Lucien's shoes, well-worn but clean and taken care of. That helped, to think of a real object, it let her calm herself a little easier. "They didn't lose me by accident. They....they sent me away."

"I was born like this," she gestured to her forehead and the eye that sat there so unnaturally. "And my parents, they were afraid that because I was deformed that...something bad would happen to them or to Isy. For a while everything seemed fine, but then I kept having these dreams." She paused here, biting her lip as tears threatened her composure. "I didn't know what to do, so I told my parents about them. They didn't know what to do either, for a long time...but then, one day they just decided that they couldn't have me around any more. I was too dangerous to be near them and my sister. So, in the middle of the night they woke me up and they made me grab just a few things." She glanced briefly at the bag that lay next to her on the bench and paused a moment to catch her breath.

After this, she looked up, finally able to meet Lucien's gaze. She glanced between him and Faolan as she spoke, but didn't have time to think about their reactions or expressions. She was too busy holding back tears. "There was a circus, or a traveling carnival in town a little while ago. In the middle of the night, my mother drove me there. She talked to some men and I think..." she paused again as her voice cracked, though she was still able to keep from crying outright, "They gave her some money. She told me I had to stay with them now, to keep my sister safe. All I wanted was for her to be safe...so I stayed and my mom...she drove away."

"But I knew I couldn't stay there!" She rose her voice a little here, as if defending herself, "The men were mean and I knew...I knew something bad would happen to me if I stayed there. So, one night I took as much food and water as I could find and I just left. I started walking up the road, back the way I thought we came."

And here is where dam finally broke and fat tears began rolling down the girl's cheeks. "I was walking and walking and walking for so long that I...I don't know what happened. I must have gotten turned around and I didn't know where I was. I was hungry and tired and my skin hurt and I just wanted to go back home and sleep in my own bed." She made no effort to cover her face now, which was blotchy red from crying. She sniffled loudly and wiped her nose on her sleeve, but otherwise let the tears fall. "But...that's when you found me." She looked from Lucien to Faolan and back again. Both of their faces were strained, surprised, and hurt.

Faolan listened to the entirety of the girl's tale in silence. She didn't move, he hardly breathed as she told of all of the events that had lead her here. Knowing now that her parents could be so cruel, that they were unable to accept her for who she was and just love her because she was their child...that hurt him more than he could say. It reminded him of how he felt as a boy, before everything had happened. How scared he was of who and what he truly was...how angry his father would have been if he had found out before he died, of how sad his mother would have been...His heart beat for this child, a small helpless thing rejected by her family.

Before he could control himself, he crossed the bus in one stride and crouched next to Lucien. Not caring about Illyana's personal space in the moment, he reached out and laid his gigantic mit of a hand on her tiny frail shoulder. Her looked her directly in her eyes, which reminded him of his own...no, not his own, his sister, Fiona's. He leaned in and said quietly, "I'm so sorry for everything that you've been through, Illyana. I can't imagine it..." he paused a moment and shook his head, "But I want you to know...whatever you want to do from here on out, Lucien and Aurel and I, we're here to help you. You don't have to worry about anyone abandoning you again, because we won't let that happen, okay? I promise you, no matter what we--"

It was then that the little girl, so small and frail and so broken inside, flung her arms around Faolan's neck. She pressed her face into his shoulder and wept, her little chest heaving with the force of her tears. Faolan, surprised and slightly taken aback, accepted this contact rigidly at first. He didn't know what to do. But eventually, knowing that he could not let this girl cry this way without some comfort, he laid his hand on the back of her head and held her as she cried. He could hear her speaking to him, though her words were muffled, she was simply said "I'm sorry" over and over and over again.

"Sshhh...it's okay. Nothing to be sorry for. You're safe now." He said, rubbing her hair with his enormous hand. He glanced at Lucien and gripped the man's hand with his free one, not caring any more about the implications. Faolan had never comforted anyone like this before, he had never been asked to. Lucien, of course, was different. This child...this was something he had never done. Though he cared deeply for Aurel, like a father would for his son, the boy had never let his emotions get the better of him like this. Faolan had not even comforted his sister this way before she passed. It was all new to him, and he needed a little support here as well.

Lucien did not rush her, giving her the time she needed to gather her thoughts. He was quiet as she finally spoke, glad she was willing to speak now. There had been a part of him that had hoped that his suspicions would not be true.. but he had been proven wrong. Lucien was horrified to hear everything this poor girl had been through. He felt his chest tighten. Many emotions went through him, anger, sadness, sympathy. To have been abandoned by her own blood.. sold to a place like that.. and to have been so brave to agree to stay for the safety of her twin. It was all too much. The closer she came to breaking down the more his heart felt for her.

Faolan had beaten him to comforting the girl. For a moment, it had surprised him, but how much this had affected him was clear. Despite how unaccustomed he was to this sort of contact with her, he was glad that he had provided her with comfort she needed. He returned the grip that Faolan had on his hand, giving it a squeeze to tell him that he had done the right thing, before moving his free one to gently placed a hand on her back.

"Faolan is right, Illyana.. you did not deserve to go through such pain. No child does. You were so brave to endure that on your own.. but you don't have to do that anymore. We're all here with you.. and I promise we will not let anything happen to you.." He said to her.

Aurel, unlike the other two, stayed where he was. Tears had filled his eyes at hearing Illyana's story, but he did not know what to do, or what he could do to help. He had experienced abandonment himself.. but not in this way. He was shocked to hear that she had been sold to a circus. The place they had come from.. in a way was similar.. but to think it would be her own parents that would have left her there.. That they had willingly sold her to them? Bengal had let out a hiss at the mention of the circus. It was an experience that neither of them had forgotten, and he was honestly glad that Illyana hadn't stayed there. The place might have been different but.. he wouldn't have wanted that for her.

Illyana was also surprised by her sudden outburst, but Faolan's words and the look in his eyes had been too much for her. She had never experienced anyone, much less an adult, standing up for her and protecting her. It was all too much to bare, especially after she had shared so much about what had happened to her. She expected people to recoil from her, because that was what her parents did. Never in all her imaginings would she have guessed she would feel so safe with a pair of strangers. Maybe the world and the people in it weren't as bad as her mother had made them out to be...Lucien and Faolan and Aurel certainly proved the existence of Goodness.

Faolan was relieved to feel Lucien's return of his gesture. He held the girl until her tears calmed and she was able to breath again, and even after that he did not let go, not until she was ready to. It was strangely energizing to be comforting this girl this way, despite her despair...this action gave him a new outlook on his purpose. He needed to help her, no matter what, to let her achieve the goals she had in her life. The goals that others would never be able to see through to the end.

At some point, the Irishman noticed the absence of Aurel, and he glanced over at the boy to see him crying as well. Instead of returning this sad glance, Faolan smiled at him and held out his arm, waving him over. There was no need for any of them to suffer alone, not any more.

Aurel joined them and Faolan pulled him in so he was between Lucien and himself. The boy was so gentle and soft when he returned the hug, but the Irishman could tell he needed it as well. He hadn't been aware of ever needing a platonic hug like this, not until now.

When Illyana had finished crying she slowly pulled away from Faolan, leaving a large wet spot on his shoulder. She wiped her face, her nose, her eyes, repeatedly with the sleeves of her shirt, sniffling and coughing as she did so. Faolan let go of her, but did not move from the position he had taken in front of her.

"Thank you..." Illyana said, so quietly even at this distance it would be hard for someone with normal hearing to pick up the words. She couldn't look at anyone, knowing they were all crowded around her, she was too embarrassed.

Faolan, who still had his arm around Aurel's shoulders, fished a handkerchief out of his pocket and handed it to the girl. "Here you go..." She took it without a word and used it to clean herself up. "When you're ready," the Irishman added, "You let us know where you want to go and we'll take you there, okay? And if you don't know where, that's okay too. The three of us are just trying to find our way too..." he looked at Aurel and over his shoulder at Lucien and smiled, for real this time. Though it was short, it was sweet, and the happiness in it touched his eyes.

Aurel had done as Faolan had asked, setting Bengal down and removing himself from the cot to head over to them. He was a bit more sure of his actions now as he had joined in on the hug. This was not particularly something they did often, but he was glad for it. It was reassuring.. and comforting. He hoped that Illyana felt the same way.

Lucien was glad that Aurel had joined them. He could only imagine how much the teenager was feeling for Illyana right now.. having experienced some of the things that she had. The nephilim was only that much more determined to make sure neither of them had to ever suffer like that again.

As Illyana's crying finally ceased, they gave her a bit of breathing room. He could tell that she was a little embarrassed by it all, but that was a better feeling to have than her continued sadness.

He returned Faolan's smile, glad that they had settled on what they would do. Now knowing the full truth, there was no way that they couldn't help her get to where she needed to. While he personally didn't want her returning to those dreadful parents, he figured she wanted to do it for the sake of her sister, and that he could not deny her. Perhaps he'd get a chance to give them a piece of his mind...

"Faolan is right. We weren't not particularly set on a designated path, so please do not feel like you are making us go out of your way. We'll make sure that you reach your destination." He reassured her.

Calming down, Illyana nodded in response Faolan and Lucien's sentiments. As she looked at them, smiling through tears, she saw the family that she had never gotten to know as a child. It was comforting despite the fact that she was missing the person that she truly cared for, her twin...it made her feel a little less alone to have people on her side.

After she finished cleaning herself off and the others had backed away a bit, giving her room to breath, she spoke up again. Her voice was a little raw from all of the crying, and quiet as usual, "I might be able to....find her." Subconsciously, her hand went up to her forehead but fell before making contact. "I'm not sure though..."

At this, Faolan, who was now standing back by the driver's seat, looked to Lucien and raised an eyebrow to indicate that this was something they should ask about. He had done his part interrupting the Nephilim, it was his turn. Emotional scenes were not something that Faolan was used to, and he found it rather draining.

Lucien caught Faolan's gaze, knowing that this was something they should inquire about. He had been meaning to at one point, considering what had happened back at her home.

"Do you mind telling us how exactly you can do that?" He asked her. "You also mentioned.. dreams? Does this have something to do with the seizure you had earlier?" It would be important for them to know if this was a common occurrence, so they could properly prepare for it the next time.

Aurel recalled the girl's previous words about how she referred to her third eye. This was what prompted him to speak up. "You.. can talk to them about it. I'm sure you noticed that I don't look.. like other kids. My appearance and my connection with the snakes is what makes me special.. I don't think your eye is a deformity.. it's what makes you special too." He told her with a small smile, revealing a little of his snake-like tongue, having avoided doing so before. Perhaps.. it would make her more comfortable to share.

Lucien could not help but feel proud at Aurel's words, and gave the teenager a smile. "Aurel is right. We will not judge you for it. We can attempt to understand it together so that we may do the best we can to help you." He reassured her, knowing this was something she was a bit self-conscious about.

It struck Illyana then that, for the first time in her life, she had shown and mentioned her deformity to strangers and that they had not recoiled in fear or confusion. Lucien had seen it and never mentioned it until now, never questioned it, and neither had the others. She doubted it was from Lucien's influence. Faolan, in particular, seemed completely unaffected by her difference and she could sense absolutely no reaction from him at its mention. It was...refreshing to be among people who did not look at her like she belonged behind a glass case.

She opened her mouth, slowly, and began to stammer a nervous answer to Lucien's question, when Aurel's voice cut her off. She was glad for it though, because his words were comforting and reassuring. She even tried a little smile, though it probably looked like a frown to those who didn't know her well.

When she turned back to Lucien, there was a new confidence in her gaze and her voice, though it was still strained from all the tears she had spilled. "I don't really...ever talk about it, but..." she paused a moment, just trying to gather her thoughts. Despite their reassurance, it was still strange for her to acknowledge her third eye. Her parents never mentioned it with words, only in looks and whispered arguments. She and her sister had spoken about it when they were young, and it had never bothered her when she was with Isy. She supposed now was the time if she was going to get used to discussing it with others...

"It wasn't really a seizure...I mean, not like when someone is epileptic. Just, sometimes when I touch things or people I can...See things." She said the word "see" as it if would be spelled with a capital "S". "That's what happened in the house. I touched my sister's barrette and I saw her..."

Specifically she had seen the back of Isy's head. She was riding in a car, her parent's car, and playing with a doll. There were trees outside of the window, but Illy had been unable to discern anything else during the ride. It was not enough to go on...not yet. She would have to sit with it, see if there was anything else that might help figure out where she was or where she was going.

Faolan, who had been listening in silence from his spot by the driver's seat, added quietly, "That's why you don't like to be touched."

At this revelation, Illyana nodded. "I don't know when it will happen, how powerful it will be...it's hard for me to control." She dropped her eyes to the floor again and began twisting the handkerchief between her hands. All her life, she had worn gloves outside and avoided touching other people or objects. It was a lonely life, but it was something she had gotten used to. Eventually, she added, "It's not only from touching though. Sometimes it just...happens." She shrugged slightly at this, having no other way of explaining it. "It happens sometimes when I'm asleep too, and I think that's what the dreams are." In fact, she knew that's what the dreams were, there was no other explanation.

Lucien was glad that Illyana had decided to open up about this. He didn't ever want her to feel like she couldn't be honest with them about things. Hopefully this was something she had been assured of now. Everything made a lot more sense now, and he had to admit that he was relieved that her reluctance to be touched was due to this ability of her's instead of some sort of physical abuse...

He grew pensive as Illyana explained things. It must have been hard for her to have been able to do this for so long, without any sort of explanation. It had probably been very scary for her.. but he was determined to do whatever he could to help her figure this out.

"These things you are seeing... are likely some sort of visions. During our travels, Faolan and I encountered many people who said they could.. read people, or even see someone's future. People with that sort of ability are normally called psychics. Perhaps this is similar to the ability you have?" He figured that telling her that there were other people like her might offer some sort of reassurance, it was at least something to go off of. It was true that not all the people they had met actually had that ability, since there were many frauds out there, but he knew that some of them were real. He knew enough at this point to not disregard such things were possible.

"Considering some of these people do this for a living, I am sure that there is a way for you to be able come to understand this power, and learn to control it as best you can. If this is something you would like to do, even though we are not experts on the topic, I'm sure we can all learn more about it together." He said to her with a smile.

Illyana listened, wide eyed, to Lucien's explanation. She had never heard of anything like this before, and was shocked to find out that he had heard of others who had experienced what she had. All this time, she thought she was alone aside from her twin, and now she knew that was not the case. These three were special in their own ways, it stood to reason that there were others out there with all sorts of abilities that were...abnormal or even superhuman.

It lightened her load a little as well to hear something so reassuring. Not only did she not scare Lucien and the others, but they knew something about her abilities and could possibly help her control them. The vision that she'd had about them made much more sense now, and the realization finally settled that she was meant to meet them and be here. She knew she was meant to find her sister as well, there was only the matter of time to deal with...

"That sounds similar...yeah." She said, nodding. Her parents were religious and therefore kept her away from anything that they deemed "inappropriate" by the laws of nature and God. Many of the teachings she had received growing up about morals were based on religion as well, and she had followed these tenants her whole life. Although, despite her young age, she knew that not all of it could be trusted or true. How could it be that her parent's actions were condoned by God and her birth was not? He had made her this way, hadn't he? She had mentioned seers and prophets in the bible to her parents, but only twice. The first time, her father had simply ignored the question. When Illyana had mentioned it to her mother, the woman grew angry and told Illyana that she was not to compare herself to scripture. Her deformity was entirely different, an abomination that must be kept hidden. They never said anything about The Devil, Hell, or demons, but she knew that her mother was thinking it, and she didn't have to be a mind reader to guess at it either.

"I'd like to...to learn." In fact, the girl's favorite past time was learning and teaching herself facts about the world. "Do you...know anyone who has these 'visions'? Someone who can help me...figure out what they mean?" She said, her tone somewhat desperate. She assumed that Lucien would have mentioned if they did, but she couldn't help but ask. She looked at Faolan as she felt him shift in response to her question, but he was only shaking his head.

This was disappointing, but she hadn't expected much. Her visions and dreams were often vague or very symbolic and she had a hard time deciphering what they meant. She didn't always see people as they were, in time, or in the future or past. Sometimes when she touched objects she saw cryptic things that made no sense. Sometimes she saw horrors the likes of which the mind of a child could not bare to comprehend, and sometimes she saw flashes and images: a hairbrush, a duck in a pond, a man on a bench, a bloody knife, and a baby's bassinet. Things that seemed totally unrelated, all in a row. She could never begin to figure out what these things meant on her own, not with the books she had access to.

The Irishman had known of a seer in his town as a lad, a woman who claimed to be in touch with the "other side". Growing up, he had been told to avoid her at all costs, she was touched by Satan and therefore unsafe for him. However, she was the only person who he could think to go to after he had woken up in the midst of the massacre of his family. She had helped him understand his "curse" as she called it, helped him with learning the basics about what he was and how his life would have to be if he wished to continue living it. He owed her his life, for without her he would have had no choice but to end himself or risk hurting others.

She couldn't help now, though, and at the time Faolan had not asked about her abilities when he had the chance. First of all, she was back in Ireland, and secondly, she was almost 60 years old when he had met her for the first time in person and she must be long gone now.

Despite the fact they didn't personally know any seers or psychics.. Lucien believed that it would not be too difficult to find one. Any psychic with actual abilities could tell that the nephilim was not human at first glance. This was something he had realized in his travels around the country with Faolan and Aurel. They'd reach out to him in the streets, talk about how he was 'bathed in light' and 'blessed.' Faolan had never been.. particularly pleased with these people, and so he had never actually stopped for a reading. He could not deny that he had always been curious about it. There.. were so many things about himself he still did not know.

Seeing Illyana's disappointment prompted him to speak up again. Perhaps it was time they actually had a conversation with one of these psychics.

"Don't let the fact we don't know anyone personally discourage you, Illyana. I'm sure that we could find one for you. They usually.. stick out a little in the towns we go to, and I'll be able to tell if they are truthful in their skill or not. If we find one we deem trustworthy, perhaps they might be able to help you. It would be something worth looking into." He told her with a smile.

While he knew Faolan would not like this idea, considering how he usually tried to keep him as far from psychics as he could, this was something they had to do, for Illyana's sake. In their own way, they both understood what it was like to grow up confused and alone, not knowing anyone else who was like them. Illyana however, had a chance to find someone like that, and he was going to make sure she'd be able to get the help she needed.

Lucien was right to guess Faolan's reaction to this idea. At it's mention, the man immediately frowned. Though he was well aware of Lucien's curiosity, the questions he had about his origins and his future and his purpose, Faolan had never trusted seers that called out to them. He found them dangerous charlatans who would only use Lucien for his abilities. It was simply too dangerous to consult one without knowing what their intentions were.

He couldn't deny, however, that this would not be something they did for Lucien's benefit, but for Illyana's. If he had met another...Lycanthrope as a boy, his life may have turned out much differently. All children needing guiding in life, and guiding from a legitimate source, from someone who could understand them on a more spiritual level, could only help. As long as Faolan was there to protect them, no harm would befall Lucien, Aurel, or Illyana. He would die before allowing that to happen. So, reluctantly, he knew he had to agree to this proposition. He gave Lucien a very small nod to show this, but kept his mouth set into a hard line.

Illyana's eyes lit up a bit at Lucien's reassurance. She had never thought she may be able to meet someone like her before...and she had so many questions. But, they would have to find that person first.

"Maybe...I can help with that too." She said, looking between the two men. There was a pause as they waited for her to continue, so she did. "I can...sense things about people. Like you, Lucien...I can tell you're different just by being close to you. You have this...calming presence. And Faolan," she glanced at the tall redhead, "I know that you're like...a shield, a protector. I can't see what you're thinking, but I know that you wouldn't let anything bad happen to Lucien, or Aurel..." Next, she looked at the teenager. "And I can sense the connection between you and Bengal and Ginger. They understand you and you understand them...but it's more than that. It's...inside you." She said, placing a closed fist against her chest to indicate her heart.

The Irishman raised his eyebrows once again at Illyana's assessment of him. Normally, he would be unnerved and even a little upset that someone would pry into his thoughts the way she had. Though she'd mentioned that she could not know exactly what he'd been thinking, the girl was not far off. He was not angry, rather, he found his cheeks growing hot at the mention of his role in Lucien and Aurel's lives, and now hers. It was the first time anyone had identified him this way out loud.
