Goals: Volkner's goals changes constantly, as he finds himself getting bored quickly. He jumps from helping design new technology to help improve Sunnyshore City, fighting off Pokemon Poachers, and whatever captures his attention at the moment.

Background: Volkner grew up on the streets of Sunnyshore City fighting off Pokemon Poachers and Bandits. Eventualy, he became the gym leader of Sunnyshore City and works constantly to improve the life of its citizens. However, he as recently found himself bored with battling and city projects, to the point where he spends most of his time sitting on the beaches of Sunnyshore, staring out at the sea. His gym even gives out badges for free after challengers fight the other trainers in the gym, surprising most trainers at the lack of a gym leader battle.

Goals: To breed healthy pokemon and make sure they go to the right trainers.

Background: She did not really compete much, but she did enter a few tournaments growing up for prize money and experience. Then, one day, she decided to become a breeder like her mother and now she runs a place that allows her to do that.

Rookie or Expert Battler?: Somewhat experience, not a rookie but not an expert either.

Goals: To explore the world and get to know about a bunch of different types of pokemon. Her main goal isn't to actually battle, but to become a pokemon researcher.

Background: Piper grew up in Saffron City with her parents and her younger brother, Austin. She had always wanted to travel and to learn more about pokemon, but wanted to complete her schooling first instead of leaving home at an early age. When she graduated from school she was gifted an egg that hatched into her first pokemon, Sandshrew.

Piper is in Hearthorne City with her family to explore and to watch the Gala. She doesn't want to participate, but since it is such a large event she figures that she will have plenty of opportunities to study different pokemon that she may otherwise never see.
