Midnight sighed and said “my phone…I wanted to see if the locations you got are related. And holding my ribs keeps the pain under control” she sighed and added “it must have been left in my jacket…on the chair over there…”

She nodded to the arm chair by the window.

Matias slowly loosened his grip on Midnight once he could at least 90% confirm that she wasn't hurting anymore. Still, his eyes remained glued to her to fulfill the missing 10%.

"I wouldn't do that too much," he said as he walked towards said chair, "you might bust open the bandage, and without Iris here, I'd be set."

He dug into the jacket's pockets until he felt something thin and blocky. The phone was pulled from where it hid, and Matias carried his catch over to the bed.

"Here," he said, placing it by Midnight's side, "but I'll spare you that search... Too many numbers to remember."

He took out his own phone and started tapping about; fortunately, it didn't take very long for him to pull the search he did earlier from his history, and the map was there for his viewing pleasure in seconds.

"Look."

He faced his phone screen towards Midnight. The coordinates led to the same place-- a vast, green void with nothing but a red marker pinging the supposed location.

"This is where the second note's coordinates took me. I have no idea what that is if it even is anything. Let me see something..."

He faced the phone back at himself and pinched to zoom out. There were still miles and miles of green surrounding wherever this place was, until Matias finally saw something-- text, detailing a familiar location.

"It's... It's next to Pixie Village. Sort of. It's still a little far."

He showed this information to Midnight.

Midnight frowned and leaned back to think. “Scarlets home…is it telling us where a threat is coming? Could the moth or whoever is leaving these notes warning of danger coming?”

She rubbed her face then they both heard a crash downstairs. She froze and looked at the door. “I’m not expecting them back yet…” she tried to get up but stopped, remembering her wound.

"I don't know, but–?"

The crash interrupted his train of thought. He looked towards the door just as Midnight did, his mouth slightly agape. Seeing the woman move at the corner of his eye, Matias's hands found themselves on her once again.

"Don't even think about it," he muttered, "I'll check it out. Wait here."

He walked to the door with a slight hunch to his posture, his steps slow and gentle. His head popped through the door followed by the gradual emergence of the rest of him once he concluded the threat wasn't on this floor. He chose to peer down from the upper banister to see what may have happened.

Midnight cursed and said “Fenrir. Guard and protect” from her shadow a wolf appeared and ran after Matias. The wolf moved ahead of him and sniffed then headed for the stairs. They were lead down the stairs when the wolf shadow stopped and pointed.

Blood. A lot of it. Fenrir lead Matias into the drawing room where there was more blood and a broken window. And next to it was Dante and Scarlet, both bleeding and hurt badly. Scarlets wings looking damaged a long with her arms and legs. Looking like whip marks. And Dante had bullet holes in his chest, shaking on the ground.

Matias was a hair from believing Fenrir was responsible for the noise; it was only when he saw the shadowy substance making them up that he knew otherwise. Before following suit, he peered back at the now-distant doorway.

You better stay, he thought to himself.

The mild adrenaline rush helped him traverse the stairs with ease. Red filled his peripheral vision to the right. His eyes went wide when he realized that the red consisted of various droplets and streaks.

"The fuck...?!"

Fenrir's movement guided him. Now all of his vision was stained red. The horrific scene sat before him like it was nothing. His eyes couldn't go any wider than they were now. Goosebumps raised across his entire body and nearly froze him. It took him a moment to start breathing again.

"I... What..."

As much as he wanted to help, the broken window seemed of most interest to him. He stepped towards it, careful not to trip on either of the bodies, then peered through the broken glass that remained. For a moment, he looked back.

"The fuck happened here?!" he hissed under his breath.

Fenrir was sniffing scarlet, seeing glass in her wings. It seemed the pair had crashed into the window themselves. Both were still breathing barely. Dante looked like he had been tortured and scarlet caught in the cross fire.

Fenrir looked up at the ceiling then Midnights voice came from him. “Matias? What’s wrong? I can’t see thru Fenrir without pushing myself to much.”

Scarlet suddenly groaned, trying to get up her arms shaking. “Dante…have to get him…safe…”

Matias was about to scream upon hearing Midnight's voice until he turned, realizing she was nowhere to be seen. He looked down at the wolf, blinking quickly.

Well then.

"It's Scarlet and Dante," he replied, "They're, uh, really hurt. Or dead. I don't know. I think they got shot or something because I see the wounds, and there's blood all over the damn place."

He could hardly hear Scarlet when she spoke; still, he let out a sigh of relief.

"Okay, they're alive. But what the hell do I do now?"

The wolf paused then said “I’ve texted Iris to return. We just need to get them up here and we can treat them till Iris returns”

Scarlet was on her knees, shaking as she looked up and said “Dante…is he…okay?” Dante was out cold, holding a sealed folder in his arms.

Matias could already envision the future mental breakdown that Iris would ignite upon arrival, but he set that aside for now; it wasn't happening now, so it wasn't a problem now. The current problem, Matias might argue, was far worse. He approached Dante, shaking him softly. While he didn't get a response, he noticed the folder in the fallen's arms. He raised an eyebrow before getting up.

"He'll be fine," he said, "but I have to get both of you patched up..."

He looked towards Fenrir.

"You can carry people, can you? Get her. I'll get him..."

He carefully shimmied Dante into his arms and lifted him. Gravity made itself known, and Dante's weight was enough to stagger Matias for a moment, almost making to folder fall out of reach.

"Shiiiiii.... Okay... Is there another room upstairs?"

Fenrir moved forward and picked Scarlet up to get her on his back and midnight said “there’s a room next to the master. Fenrir will lead you there” the wolf did and they made it up the stairs into the huge guest room and a few beds ready.

Fenrir laid Scarlet on one and waited for Matias. The door on the other side opened and Midnight was resting on the chair by the door. “What happened? Did scarlet crash thru the window?”

Matias was laying Dante on another bed when Midnight appeared. He looked back, flicking blood off his hands.

"Can't say," he replied, "I walked in and they were just laying there... I saw a broken window, so they might have. Can't think of another way that they could have gotten in."

His eyes met the folder again. He took it in his own hands and examined it briefly before placing it on a nearby nightstand. Now his interest shifted to Scarlet.

"Iris should be on her way," he sighed, "but you'll have to hang tight. What happened? Who attacked you?"

Scarlet flinched and said “Bane called and asked I find Dante. He was worried about him. So I went to the station, figuring he would go there. When I got there he was leaving with a box. He had quit, moving his station to private. I went to help but then we were ambushed. I didn’t see who attacked us. Dante tried to keep them off of me but…there were too many…”

She looked down and said “he was getting beaten so bad I had to get us out there…I flew here wounded to get help…”

Matias looked over at Dante again. He stared silently for a moment before cracking a grin and chuckling.

"Guess he decided to leave the masochism behind him... Vale."

He gave the vampire a soft rub in the shoulder.

"Considering how the pigs treated him when he was in the department, I wouldn't be surprised if they decided to go all out now that he's not. That's my guess."

He turned to Midnight.

"Should we stay here until further notice? I feel like it's too dangerous for us to spread out at this point. Too many people wanting us dead."

Scarlet sighed and flinched as she said “they weren’t in uniform…but it’s possible. He was still a cop fighting them off…he kept them off of me…” she covered her face as Midnight stood up slowly and walked over to sit next to her.

“We should stay here at least till everyone has recovered. Dante will need more time to heal…”

"Mmph."

He looked back at Scarlet, his frown deepening.

"You don't know if they followed you, do you? Because that also might be a problem..."

He stepped back to give everyone some room, then folded his arms.

"Again, I'm no medic. I suppose I could go downstairs and patch up that window. You got anything I could fix it with?"

Midnight smiled and whistled. The machine wolf from before appears and she said “send fixer to the sitting room would you” the wolf nodded and vanished. Midnight smiled and said “that part I can handle.”

Scarlet shook her head and said “we weren’t followed. I’m sure about that. I made it look like we were heading for lower town”

"I wouldn't count on that," Matias said, "We still have to be careful. Everyone in this room has some sort of bounty on their head."

His eyes met the folder on the nightstand, then his bountied head motioned towards it.

"Any idea what that is?"

Scarlet smiled softly and said “your notes. It’s the labs on them. It’s why he was in there so long…he waited till they were finished…” midnight cursed and looked at Dante

“Took everyone’s word to heart…”

Matias's eyes widened considerably.

"Oh, what?"

His eyes shifted back and forth between Dante and the folder, still widened. He let out a sigh before hanging and shaking his head.

"Damn... He actually did them. I suppose something good came out of all this."

His hand reached for the folder but stopped upon hearing Midnight speak. He simply side eyed her for a moment before actually taking the coveted notes in his hands. He looked neutral albeit grumpy as per usual, but deep down there was something in him squeeing like a child.

"I suppose we should look these over while we wait. Now, usually I wouldn't take something that isn't mine, but these are teeeechnically mine..."
