Glossary

• CETM - The Committee for Extraterrestrial Threat Management, created to combat the impending alien threat through the establishment of four projects. CETM is located in the ruins of The Bay Area and much of its research staff are scientists.
• Project Olympian - The CETM project utilizing Hyperians.
• Project Titan - The CETM project utilizing space monsters.
• Project Colossus - The CETM project utilizing giant piloted robots.
• Project Myrmidon - The CETM project utilizing existing military capabilities, intended to support the other projects.
• Space Monsters - Alternately known as 'kaiju', 'aliens', or simply 'monsters'. Refers to the gigantic extraterrestrial entities that have begun attacking Earth. Conventional force does little against them, and the repeated use of nuclear weapons is not a viable strategy.
• Hyperians - A species of seemingly benevolent space aliens. So far, two have been encountered, dubbed Hyper Man and Hyper Man X. The first Hyperian, Hyper Man, has defended Earth from space monsters for a while, giving humanity time to prepare our own defenses. Hyper Man X arrived later to continue Hyper Man's mission.

• 2095 C.E. - The ancient Hyperian vessel is discovered in the Mariana Trench. Research on it begins immediately as mankind attempts to reverse engineer the technology and decipher the language. This vessel and its 'inhabitant' were sent to Earth thousands of years ago to protect us.
• 2100 C.E. - The first encounter with Hyper Man and the Vega alien's escape. Weakened, Hyper Man explains that he requires the life force of a 'pure-hearted' human in order to reinvigorate himself and defeat the Vega Alien. One of the research team students, Shigeru Kawakami, volunteers and merges with Hyper Man. Hyper Man leaves the vessel and defeats the Vega Alien but The Bay Area has been devastated.
• 2101 C.E. - In the aftermath of the first extraterrestrial incident, CETM is founded. With the knowledge and guidance of Hyper Man, the Hyperian Vessel is relocated to The Bay Area.
• 2115 C.E. - In the intervening years, space monsters begin to attack regularly. The bay Area is transformed into a fortress now known simply as The Bay. It is the site of extraterrestrial research, the headquarters of CETM, and the battleground for all subsequent fights with space monsters as the Hyperian vessel located there has a beacon that attracts them.
• 2116 C.E. - The second Hyperian, Hyper Man X, arrives on Earth to check on the status of Hyper Man's mission. The Hyperians have a secret meeting in the vessel and Hyper Man X agrees to swap places with Hyper Man, allowing Hyper Man to return to their 'home' to recuperate.
• 2120 C.E., Present Day - Hyper Man X has protected Earth since, but CETM is finally ready to unveil the fruits of their research.

Setting:

In the year 2095, an alien spacecraft was discovered crashed deep in the Mariana Trench, and an international team of scientists started studying it. One major detail they noticed immediately is that the ship seemed to be designed for something much larger than humans. They deciphered the alien language and began to learn how to operate the oversized machinery, specifically the ship's computer.

Over the years, they unlocked access to more and more of the ship until in 2100, they found a sealed chamber which, clues indicated, housed the ship's owner. Unfortunately, upon opening the chamber, it was revealed that it was a stasis chamber; the ship's owner locked itself inside in an effort to trap itself with another large, hostile alien entity. Freed from stasis, the hostile alien, later dubbed the Vega alien, escaped the ship and headed east. The ship's owner, later dubbed 'Hyper Man', had been mortally wounded by the Vega alien and communicated telepathically with one of the scientists, merging with him. The scientist became Hyper Man's vessel, gaining the ability to grow to giant size and inheriting Hyper Man's powers. He flew to pursue the Vega alien, who had begun laying waste to California's Bay Area. Hyper Man successfully defeated and subdued the alien.

Hyper Man explained that his species, the Hyperians, observe, study, and protect budding civilizations like our own. His ship had a 'civilization dampener' that hid humanity's presence from the attention of hostile space monsters. Unfortunately, in the Vega alien's escape, the civilization dampener was destroyed, and humanity must now prepare for the continuous and relentless arrival of such space monsters. In response to this, the world government created a task force, CETM, the Committee for Extraterrestrial Threat Management, to develop ways to counter such attacks, headed by some of the world's brightest (and most eccentric) minds. CETM was established in the ruins of The Bay, and the Hyperian ship was moved there as well. The Bay was transformed into a battleground, using the ship as a beacon to attract monsters to that location.

Four branches, known as 'Projects' were developed and named after Greek Myth.

• Project Olympian - The CETM project dedicated to supporting Hyper Man (and later, Hyper Man X).
• Project Titan - The CETM project dedicated to controlling, utilizing, and studying kaiju
• Project Colossus - The CETM project developing mecha.
• Project Myrmidon - The CETM project utilizing existing military capabilities, intended to provide support to the other projects.

The year is now 2120, two decades since the Vega catastrophe. Hyper Man and Hyper Man X have been mankind's protecter for twenty years against sporadic monster attacks, but Project Titan and Project Colossus are ready to unveil their prototypes. Monster and machine, crafted and controlled by man. Will they live up to Hyper Man's legacy? Will humanity learn to protect itself? Or will they realize their insignificance in the face of cosmic horrors? Will they learn where the aliens originate and why they're attacking? How far is mankind willing to go to protect itself?
