Luna sat on a bench in the park watching kids play. They made her smile. At a time she had wanted them but when Jack left she had been forced to look over her life more carefully. When he had left her she had felt oddly empty. No other man had been able to connect with her. Besides her dating failure her life had settled down fairly well. At least until recently. A string of murders came down upon their small town. She doubted that the killer was human. Her hand went up through her hair in frustration. She had not been able to find out who caused them.

In any case her mind had needed a break so she came here. As her eyes followed the children she caught sight of a familiar form. She swore under her breath softly and rose to her feet. She ducked her head trying to hide her face as she began walking towards her car.

Home. They said the heart was there. Well Jack lost his here. All because of his family. Had he been normal he and Luna could have been married by now. Had a family. But no. He had to be a monster. Life was cruel. He had returned from LA after 4 years now. Murders were breaking out again. He knew it was something not human. Like him.

His sense of smell picked up a familiar smell. Hers. He knew it was Luna. He turned and saw her trying to get to her car. He ran over. Not too fast but fast enough to catch her. He stopped in front of her. "Luna? It's you isn't it?" He asked hopefully. He had missed her. He looked down at her. She looked similar to how she had been. Better even. He knew he had changed. "I'm...Im sorry Luna. For everything. " He said sputtering. She had that effect on him.

Luna looked up at him cursing herself for the fluttering of her heartbeat when he spoke to her. She tilted her head to the side as he changed quite a bit. He was much more muscular now. Had he gotten handsomer? She blinked and finally spoke. "Yes it's me. Do you truly expect me to forgive you that easily after four years?" Her hands went to her hips in question. However the sternness meant for him was lost when she smiled. His sputtering always made her smile. "Why come back to this small town?"

Yep it was her. He could have told that from her stern attitude. Taking no nonsense from him. He had missed that. "I know you have all the right to hate me. But... I came back to see you. I missed you Luna. " he confessed smiling sheepishly. It was the truth. He did miss her. Bit he could not say he came back because of the murders.

" hey... If you are free would you mind getting a drink with me? " He asked hoping she would say yes. He wanted to catch up with her.

Luna raised an eyebrow with her head tilted to the side. His words nearly sent her into his arms. She wanted to but it was something she couldn't do. Her heart would not go to him again for some time. Or at least not until she trusted him again. However she would be his friend. She sighed looking around wondering what she should do. His smile sealed the deal. Not that she would tell him. "I would love to get a drink with you but just as friends." A smile formed across her face. "Nick's Bar at eight tonight. Don't be late."

Jack mentally was cheering. She had agreed. As friends but he was stubborn. He would get her to love him again. He needed her more than he could say. She was what made him change forms. It was odd but to change back to being human he had to think of something to make him change. She was that thing. Not that he could say that. He never really had gotten over her. "Nick's bar at eight. I'll be the lonely handsome looking guy. " He joked as he turned to leave. He could not wait.

Luna rolled her eyes and smiled as she was finally able to get into her car. _Time Skip_ Many hours later she rolled up to bar and got out of her car. She was now in a skin tight shirt and skinny jeans actually in fancier clothing. She would make him wish he still had her. Upon entering the bar her eyes scanned over every person inside. No one seemed threatening. With a shrug Luna walked in and went up to the counter. Instantly brandy was set in front of her. The bartender knew her well from her time spent drinking away her sorrows.

Jack walked up to the bar. He was wearing a tight fitting white polo shirt and loose jeans. He had even brushed his hair. He was making himself look great so her defenses would be weakened. When he got in he saw her. She looked amazing. He had no idea what to say. He calmed himself and walked up to her. He whispered "Hey beautiful " he sat down before she could do something to him. He smiled another one of his charming smile. "So what do you want to talk about. " He said ordering a beer.

Luna glanced up when she heard him speak. He looked very handsome. His shirt strained a bit around his muscles. She took a deep breath to steady her pulse and to clear her voice. "Well let's see.... Where did you go when you left?" She asked him her head in her hand while her elbow rested on the bar counter. She sipped her drink with a slight smirk . She wanted to catch up with him.

Jack took a breath. He had to calm himself. If he looked flustered it would show. He smiled as he took glances at her. "I went to LA. To try and find myself. " He said watching the bar around them. He was trying to seem bored but he really looked worried. "What about you? How has been small town life suiting you? I think you would have loved LA. I wish I had taken you. " He said the last part softly. Hoping the noise would cover him saying that. He figured she would hear it.

Luna sat watching him as he spoke. He had left to find himself? It was a strange response but some people had this feeling. He just hadn't struck her as one of them. "It has suited me well. I enjoy knowing everyone around me. But I would love to visit a big city like LA someday. She heard the last part but made no comment on it. A smile formed across her lips, proud of her hunter senses. "You really hit the gym in the big city."

He laughed to try and cover how uncomfortable he felt at her comment. He had gotten like this because of his curse. If she wanted to think he was working out that was her business. "Got keep yourself looking your best in LA. Pretty people like other ones. " He said still laughing. "It also makes me feel good. Course you still look great. Been working out?" He asked taking a sip of his beer when it came. Then he asked her a rather personal question. "Hey Luna? Do you have a boyfriend? I mean you should move on but..." He was going to say he had not moved on from her. He was curious.

A smirk formed across her face as he asked if she had been working. "You could say that." Her hunters training had improved her muscle tone along with all of her senses. His laugh was a bit awkward like her question had been bad. She had been taking a drink of her brandy when he asked her that question. It caused her to choke slightly. She set the glass down and looked at him coughing. Finally when she calmed down words came unbidden. "I do not have a boyfriend at the moment." She ordered another drink inhaling it. The scab on her heart was aching. "How about you?"

He watched her cough her drink. Yah he had hit a nerve. He looked at her. The only girlfriend he had. We'll use to have. Women were attracted to him sure but for looks. Not who he was. Luna had been the one to see him for who he was. He strengthened himself with a sip of his beer. "I. I don't. I haven't had one in four years. " he said leaving out the whole since you thing. "I really could not find anyone who understood me. You get what I'm saying right?" He asked hoping she had.

Her eyes remained on him as she downed another two drinks. She knew that it was stupid but she didn't want to feel the emotions running through her. It didn't take much for her to become drunk. A seductive smile formed across her face. "Yes I understand what you mean. I have not had a boyfriend in four years as well." He had not been her first but he helped her through tough times and understood her. She rose from the stool she sat on and looked around. "Perhaps I can find one tonight." Her eyes wandered over men while her voice was a slur.

She was really downing the drinks. A little too quickly. He knew why. She was drinking to forget him. He felt a little better that she was like him. Part of him had wanted her to be happily married. But the other half was happy she was still open. He got up when she did. He walked over and grabbed her arm. "I think you've had enough to drink. Time for me to get you home. None of these guys are your type. " he said leading her to the door. Once they were out he held out his hand. "Give me your keys, Lu. " he said using his nickname for her. He hoped it would get across to her. He was not going to let her drive home.

Luna kept looking around paying little attention to him. When he touched her she pushed against him until he said nickname. She had not heard that name in 4 years. Something from within her broke in that moment. She pushed on him trying to get out of his grip. Finally she flipped twisting her arm from his grip. It was a move that she had perfected in training. "Why should I trust you? You walked out on me. And how do you know what my type is anymore!?!" The next man that walked out she pulled to her and kissed. No sparks formed but she let the man go and hicuped.

He looked at her as she yelled that he did not know anything about her. He watched her kiss some random guy. He was not jealous. He did not even blink as she flipped over him. He did not care. he knew she could do werid thing. "I am looking out for you. I care about you. I always have. For four years I missed you. It was hell for me." He said softly "Give me the keys, Luna. Now." He said forcely He glared at her and the look could tell her he meant it. He was not letting her drive.

Luna stilled when he spoke. His words cut through her mind then. She shook her head as tears streamed down her eyes. She wiped them away quickly and glanced around. Her eyes were still fogged over a bit but she handed him the keys. "You know nothing of the word hell." She turned from him then and began walking away towards her home. It would take her hours on foot and her feet seemed to slow. It was like her body wanted to listen to him. It was like when an Alpha werewolf told someone what to do. Just not as powerful as it would be with another werewolf.

Jack watched her walk away. He was not going to let her go. He could mind force her to do it. Except he promised never to do this to anyone he cared about. He chased after her and gabbed her arm. Before she could do anything he hugged her to him. "I'm sorry Luna. I'm so sorry. Will you ever forgive me." He whispered as he hugged her. He did not let go until she calmed down.
