I was just looking through the abilities... why would sprinting effect dodging strikes...? wouldn't agility make more sense?

Sprinting(movement speed) is actually the speed/evasion stat. Some of it got messed up in translation, I'd expect. The SAO wiki lists agility as something else.. so. I've added that bit about fall damage to the Agi stat because just aerial maneuvers and jump height seems somewhat.. meh.

Also.

At the risk of sounding like an utter bitch, screw it, I already do

Please do not jump into another person's setting/post without clearing it with them ooc or through a PM first. We're all for spontaneity when it follows basic RP etiquette and common sense. This goes for everyone. Hopefully, it'll make things run smoother.

Bold words, activate

Ok, First off, EVERYONE FINISH UP WHAT YOU ARE DOING IN THE NEXT FEW POSTS.

Be patient as I, Lil, and Teleport finish up are finish with the sex-legged monster. IT will take a little longer as I now have to edit what is going to happen in the fight. I have been busy traveling but should be good for a chunk of tomorrow. That fight is to because I wanted to kill a char(My chars besty), to show that this is not a game, as many forgot that(IC), and to show that things will only get tougher as we get higher.

Once that and everyone else is done, I will do the meeting. If your char does not know about the meeting, you can someone how figure it out in IC to know about it. But you don't have to be there. There actual Raid will be the day after the meeting. So you can have your char be invited to the raid after the meeting if he/she is not there.

We can talk about the Raid after the meeting.

Alright, the ooc is getting quite difficult for me to follow on a phone along with the PMs.

Lillium-RPG <-- my skype. Msg me on it if you have something you'd like to discuss. That'd make it a lot easier for me.

Thanks!

well... I was mainly just asking because agility kinda seems a little pointless with that description without at least a few abilities added in... I think it would have been pretty well suited for at least a bonus to dodging.. because just because you can move fast doesn't mean you can move well... like... I have a decent agility AND speed... sure I may not be able to jump out of the way of EVERY blow, but I can at least move enough, or twist at such an angle that they could hit a less damaging spot...

Like... just take Nem and my characters for example (him because I had been looking over his stats when I thought of this) he has a speed stat of 500 something, and has damn near maxed STR... if everything ONLY goes off of speed, well then it'd be pretty much impossible to take a battle with him without parrying literally every blow, and having a much better parry skill than him. meaning my character, even though I have a pretty good speed stat, would be completely fucked because at character creation I thought "agile, coordinated, able to twist and turn, weaving through crowds, weaving between trees, etc, etc." and balanced speed and agility... So with his speed, if he decided to try to kill me there would be literally nothing I could do, I would not be able to out run him, nor would I be able to evade his blows... and I'd then pop like a squished grape. If he got pissed at me before I got away there would be no way to hide because I wouldnt be able to run to cover or anything.

and with this setup, the only way to beat him would be to beat the shit out of him because he's a glass cannon: A powerhouse with jack shit defense. He has almost no battle regen, so sure he has a weakness... but with his speed THAT high, he could dodge just about anything unless their speed is higher than his... which I dont believe anybody's is...

I'm sorry for over complicating this for you, but I'm just seeing things that can be exploited by anybody with a mind as twisted as mine to actually notice this tiny stuff lol >.> Lucky for you I'm the kind of person who absolutely HATES exploits... there have only ever been two exploits that I've actually been willing to use: Crawmerax's blind spot, and the oblivion duplication glitch... oh! and I can bet that every one of us has our stats off by at LEAST 5 points as far as video game leveling goes...

oooo! Nero! dude I like you! You're the ONLY! one who didn't do it! I havent actually counted the points he spent, but Nero is the ONLY one who didn't TECHNICALLY distribute his skill points wrong... And if all our stats start at 1, then kylie has the least errors, everybody else has anywhere from 6-9 points wrong on their CS.

You raise a whole bunch of excellent points. We (the GMs) have already been looking into this matter but have yet to come up with a solution that'd won't end up with redoing everyone's stats or causing more difficulties for people. Short of redoing most of the stat system, I'm sorry to say that I'm at a loss as to how this can be fixed.

Do none of you use skype? </3 Because making a skype group and discussing this would go so much faster.

Edit: the 1/1000 is a place holder number.

aaah, but if that's a place holder, then every skill starts at level one, so we should be ADDING to that number rather than REPLACING that number.

and I do have skype, problem is I have to use my phone for it and it bugs out a lot...

Eh, I just went with what I thought to be right, I suppose. On the matter of Sprint/Agility, I got a bit confused by them as well- so I just went with putting the same number in them both.

To me, the matter can be solved this simply:

Sprint is a SMALL (very small) passive increase at how effective the character is in dodging. But it should be more directed towards boosts of speed and general ground movement.

Agility is a better, safer way to bo dodge strikes, when you're faster, agile and more graceful, it shouldn't be too hard to avoid strikes. (Pls don't take this as "I can dodge everything!)

Sprint=movement speed

agility=coordination.

if you can move super fast, you can move out of the way.

if you're agile, you can twist/bend/contort out of the way.

Sprint allows you to sprint along with dodging, but you won't be able to do anything really acrobatic with your dodges and they will be clumsy, easy to get with a second strike if predicted right

adility allows you to climb, jump, and do high-dexterity stuff. If your dodges may not be the fastest, but they get the job done... sadly they'll leave you off balance

if you have a good balance of both, your dodge would be as if you had excellent of either. Dodge rating can just be (agility+speed)/2 it wouldnt be that difficult

It means that if you haven't played around with the stat and left it as it is, it will be counted as zero (because that skill doesn't exist for you) we're replacing the number instead of adding to it because it means you chose to unlock that specific skill and add points to it. Unlocking the skill sets it to 0, allowing you to add your stat points to it. I am not asking everyone to redo their entire CS simply to fix this.

As for the Spr-Agi dilemma, combining both stats leaves room for one more skill - defense. This does not exist in the SAO universe, according to the wiki. I did not want to deviate too far from lore (this can cause lots of problems for the lore purists out there). Also, changing this would require everyone to redo their CS. I'm not asking anyone to do all that unless we call for a vote and get majority.

well if it doesn't exist then it would be -/1000

So at level 1 you're given 30 points to spend on anything, and it all starts at 0/1000?

If I left it as -/1000, I'm pretty sure I'd have gotten questions asking why its a minus sign and all that. Seeing as how most of the CS still have the guides/outlines I typed up as something to help you fill out the character sheet, I'm pretty sure that the -/1000 would've caused more problems. Does that 1 really bother you that much? Is it that big of an issue?

Shouldn't we put a bit of trust in each other and hope that no one will abuse 'insta-dodge' just because their sprint and agility stat is high? I mean, it's not like the purpose of the roleplay is killing one another. The purpose is defeating bosses and improving our characters together (even when theres certain characters who whouldn't work well with the word together, heh). Putting too much stress on that type of subject is a quick way to become disinterested in the roleplay- I mean, even if you're doing it for the roleplay's good. If a problem arises regarding that, I'm certain the competent GMs will handle it swiftly, if it indeed becomes too problematic, I'm sure a way will be found of fixing it. But for now, let's just relax and try to trust that it won't be abused, we have nice players after all. It's not like this is a competition to show who's the most badass (if it was, I clearly won by far) or who's the strongest fighter and all that.

Why...? it wouldn't require any changes, what games out there actually have a dodge skill? it's normally an attribute that can have modifiers added, otherwise it's just an invisible skill that is averaged out from your statistics. All it would take is saying:

"hey, instead of having dodge ONLY be based on speed, we're gonna have it average out with agility so it can't be horribly exploited in the future now that someone pointed out that it can be. There's no need to change your stats or anything, just please take your speed and agility, and average them together, it may not be quite to lore, but SAO was a game that had the players actively dodge and swing attacks, which means that it is actually under their physical control whether they get hit or not and it's all about who's better.

sadly, we cannot replicate this on here, so just to make it fair, we're gonna change the rules. instead of it being solely the one stat, averaging it out with agility will actually help add that element of realism to this game even though we cant actually do the dodging. This isn't technically a stat, it's just that invisible percentage that's there for us to help keep this together.

This same new rule can ALSO be used for hit chance as well, seeing as an intricate blade maneuver may sometimes have an even better chance of getting throughsomeone's defenses than one that's just moving fast/"

sorry... yea... I'll stop... I'm just so used to PVP obsessed assholes... and then I was being trained with call of cthulhu... and if that has taught me one thing it's to never trust anybody... even PCs...
