If you go that route, you could say Azrul goes in for what seems like a "checkmate" attack, and Sayto is forced to use it but Victoria jumps in and saves Azrul by taking the hit. That alone would probably guarantee Azrul's joining of Fairy Tail.

My only problem with that is that Azurl isn't an S-class so how would he get to that "checkmate" spot?

Well, using his own tactics and the help of Victoria already they've worked solely on exhausting his magic. If Azrul keeps up the pressure with Sayto on pretty low magic...
Oh, or, you could say Sayto would be able to keep going and possibly beat Azrul, but he can't afford to spend any more time on just one of the many people approaching him.

It could be a checkmate attack if Victoria manages to get the jump and Sayto and subdues him with her crystals? That would mean that lightning pillar would literally be the last resort for him to win against Azrul; who I assume Sayto is pretty angry at given what I read in his personality and what's been happening in the IC.

Kelvin will be deeply disappointed in your lightning mage if he goes down with just a little fight. You should cheat, and somehow spray everything with water so it conducts electricity so easily.

It's pretty funny.
Its Ferekin hilarious to be honest.
Oh and since sayto is s-mage. I thought this be more like the fight between natsu and gerard (not sure if this was his name.) The destruction mage. When they fought on the island. .... When natsu got his ass whipped quite fast and gerard didn't broke a sweat.
Because then it would make sense why the half of fary tail needs to fight him.
Pyro do you mind me taking our characters to the town to bash some buildings too?
