Character Sheets

Bombs raining from the sky
As little Johnny begins to cry
Next door Mrs Jones sits in fear
All she can do is shed a tear
Her husband has gone to war.

One hundred and forty four years after the bombs fall here is a hierarchy in life, and we're at the bottom. For twenty five years years King Henry the Tenth made sure off that. While the Monarchs stayed safe in their bunker when the bombs fell everyone else was left out in the wastes of the city to fend for themselves, all over the British Isles people died. Hundreds, thousands, millions. It came to the point that you were lucky to have died when the bombs fell, radiation was a killer for years to come and only those lucky enough to live out in the country side managed to survive and scrape by a living for themselves. Slowly, over time. People began to rebuild.

Then the broadcast came, promising a better life. One like before the war and the bombs fell, a life of perfection in the Capital city of London. Of course many heeded the call however what greeted them was much different. The outer city lay in ruins, and once approaching the center men in power armour appeared and informed them that they were now subjects of His Royal Majesty King of England. Many tried to escape, however it was impossible. While the border patrols let people in, they did not let people out. Industrial Centers and Residential Centers were established throughout the city to perform specific purposes as the population grew. However it has began to grow stale under the tyranny of King Henry, there are whispers. Rumors of revolution. Some call them mad men, other call them heroes. The question is, will you be brave enough to rise up in arms?
The Premise

The Premise for this Roleplay is typical Fallout apocalypse "trying to get by" style. However with one major difference, you're trapped within the confines that are dictated to you by the all powerful King Henry and his band of not-so-merry men. You will be within one of the Civilized areas of the city, however I am not opposed to you living outside of these areas be aware that if you are outside of those areas sphere of influence you are also outside of the safety from the Guards, while this is a good thing as they're not exactly the nicest people on the planet this also means all manner of nasty Fallout style beasties can come after you.

Besides worrying about monsters you will also have to worry about Slavers capturing you and handing you over to the Monarchy or worry about a patrol as it is illegal without a permit.

There will be a currency set forth by the King, Pounds of course. Roughly made coins with a badly drawn face on them and any older pre-war coins can be traded for more valuable goods due to their demand within the royal court. Despite this many people still resort to the good old fashioned trading goods for goods that was the norm before the King came forth from the vault.

I'll go into more detail into locations, animals and weapons further down.
Laws
As set forth by His Royal Highness, King Henry the Tenth of England.

I. It is forbidden to speak poorly off him. For he is your savior.
II. It is Illegal to leave the bounds off settlements without a permit.
III. Pounds are the currency of the Realm, unregulated trading is illegal.
IV. Thievery, Rape, Murder are all intolerable sins.
V. Every subject must work every day: No exceptions for elderly or infirm.
VI. Devotion to the Church of England is not optional.
VII. Every Woman by the age of 25 must bear at least one son - If unmarried a Lord will impregnate her.
Rules

It is going to be a nitty gritty roleplay. However I still have rules.

1. I control the Roleplay, what I say goes.
2. You can die. This is not a movie where you are the main character. Plot armor only exists on the King.
3. If you do something stupid and someone posts a response. You can only go back to change it if both players agree.
4. When it comes to sexual interactions (Willing or No) fade to black. If you wish to rape someone in the Roleplay PM the other player first.
5. Be realistic, you may be under oppression but you have no training and the Kings men have guns. You aren't just going to suddenly yell out "Viva la revolution."
6. Enjoy yourself.
Civilized Areas

This list is subject to change as the RP progresses.

While these are the civilized areas the entire district of the City of London is available to players, beyond that you will be sent back or shot by the guards for attempting to leave. You can live outwith these areas if you want however you have to watch out for bandits who will likely kill you, Kings Men who will kill you or send you to the tower for re-education or Slavers who will send you to the Kings Men.

The underground has not been completely purged of deadly wildlife. The guards prevent them from entering the settlements and protect anyone who is authorized to use the system however beyond that they are wild and dangerous.
Technology

First and foremost, any computer technology is held within the Powerplant and Buckingham palace only. It is held under such security that no-one else has any. So I won't detail it unless I have too. There are only rumors of robots existing in Buckingham Palaces vault, there are no confirmations.

I won't be putting weapons here that are available to the resistance as the resistance either use stolen weapons, hand made weapons or older weapons such as a Lee Enfield.

This list is subject to change as the RP progresses.

The "Royal" cart for the Underground is just a modern age train. Everyone else if needing to use the underground network sits on a rough cart which is controlled by pulleys operated by ghouls.
Creatures:

This list is subject to change as the RP progresses. I'm going to leave this list short as I fully expect people to create their own animals as things move along. As things are created I'll add them to the list.

Mice and Rats are still around too, though they are largely unchanged.

Important Notes

I would like to point out a couple of things:

-This happens in the UK. Nothing that happens in the Fallout Series applies here, that was a world away.
-Ghouls are looked down upon, lower than the lowest slave. When used for combat they are only ever allowed melee weapons.
Questions? Post them below.

...If nothing that happened in the mainline Fallout series applies, where did Super Mutants come from? FEV was a West Tek/U.S. Military thing, wasn't it? I really doubt they would have let the Brits in on it, especially considering I don't think they were even allies by the time of the Sino-American War.

Also, is the implication that in Britain there was only one Vault (perhaps modeled after the American Vault-Tec Vaults), but fewer bombs were dropped, so outside of the cities more people survived the War?

EDIT: Oh, oh, and what's the date? 23rd Century?

:) This could be a very interesting game, Sep. I'm currently writing up a character sheet, but parts of it are dependent on your answers here.

Looks interesting, may I join if the spots aren't already filled to the brink?
Had a European Fallout RP a few years ago, though ironically the Royal Family were actually quite nice to the people, building shelters and installing rocket-defence systems like Mr. House did. So it'll be interesting to see how this one turns out :)

I will be the first to admit I am not the most knowledgable when it comes to all things fallout. Date I'll go with the 23rd and yes more survived outside of the cities but life was still tough, radiation was still felt out in the country to one degree or another. That is why when the broadcast began emanating from London people moved towards it.

About Super Mutants, I didn't know about them being part of an experiment... ponderment.

I can always change it around so that any ghouls are the lowest of the low, unless perhaps you have any ideas to bring the Super Mutants in? This roleplay is going to be very player driven, the only thing I'm going to control really is the bad guys. Hell if you're smart and clever and can counter my evil enough the revolution will gain momentum quickly.

Making ghouls the lowest of the low would definitely help my character, being a ghoul herself (so she wouldn't be shot on sight), and yeah, if we're sticking to the lore, Super Mutants just wouldn't be in Britain at all. (The "canon" of Fallout 3 isn't 100% canon for me... The only true Super Mutants, in my mind, are those from the Core Region, and those definitely wouldn't be found across the pond, even if an argument for Vault 87 Muties finding their way across could be made.)

The 23rd Century includes Fallout 2 (2241), 3 (2277) and New Vegas (2281), but this story could definitely be set earlier, considering all of the technology is going to be Pre-War anyway... I'd actually recommend, based on the premise, that we do set the game earlier, around the era of the original Fallout (one hundred-ish years after the Great War). That way, there has been sufficient time for things to change, for mutants to happen, and for the Monarchy to begin their rebuilding, but not enough for the people to have built up their resistance movement yet...

By the way, another question: what are you thinking about Energy Weapons? Since my character has been around for such a long time (being a ghoul), and worked as a defense contractor before the war (meaning she would know how to use and repair them), would it be possible for her to have found some? Also, do the King's Men use any?

(Basically, her concept is that she was at the right place at the right time, a researcher for a defense corporation who leveraged her technical and engineering expertise to gain a spot in the Royal Vault. Around thirty years later, however, on a mission out of the Vault in search of salvageable technology, she and her scouting group stumbled upon an extremely irradiated area, and most of them died before they could find their way back. My character was the only survivor, but immediately began to feel the effects of ghoulification, as her bits of her hair fell out and patches of skin started to die and peel away. The changes continued over the next several months, eventually resulting in the complete transformation, but even with nothing but a few dead patches on her face the royals were scared shitless, and refused to allow her back inside, thinking the condition might be contagious.

So, she was left with nothing but the equipment the group had carried with them and her new-found immunity to radiation sickness, and had to survive in the ruins of London on her own. Obviously, there's more, as she lived for another 70 years or so before the events of the RP, but that's the gist. Obviously, she has both means and motive to assist the resistance in overthrowing the Monarchy, and an intimate knowledge of the enemy's technology to boot, BUT I didn't know if you would allow her to have some Energy Weapons.)

The likes of a plasma pistol I'll be okay with. Any larger energy weapons are a no, the Monarchy doesn't even use them currently as they're the heavy duty stuff. They start cracking them out and you know you've gotten their attention.

Thankyou for the summing of super mutants up for me as well, I'll be able to adjust things accordingly.

Hmm, a Plasma Pistol... What about a couple of Recharger Pistols?

And, yeah, it can very simply be said that there are fewer Pre-War weapons around in general, considering the Pre-War anti-firearm legislation...

Recharger would be fine, though to balance out the need to find ammo it wouldn't be easy finding replacement parts if it were to become damaged.
Updated front page ghouls instead of super mutants. Thanks for that little piece of info.

You're quite welcome, and really, that'll be true for ANY gun in this game, unless you're with the King's Men... Anyway, I'll get to work on that CS.

Naturally, though your chances of firing a firing pin are lower than finding a small capacitor.

Can I be a former lord or knight? I have a pretty good idea for a character who was once connected to the royal family but he despised the way they treat the people, so after committing treason he goes on the run and joins the rebellion.

The Rebellion is quite a new concept. I'll be throwing up my CS either later tonight/tomorrow to give you an idea of what it is.

Reminds me to add a little more to the OP, depends how you play it. I do want to limit the number of trained personnel so expect to play a heavy instructor/front line role if you do that :P
Edited so we are one hundred and forty four since the bombs dropped and on our 25th year of tyrannical rulership.

The character would be in major hiding, he would have totally reinvented his apperance to stay in hiding. I would make him a character that doesn't want to be a leader, he just wants to stay under the radar and take the royal family down without revealing himself.

'snot to bad then. You don't have to be an actual member of the fledgling resistance then. You could always come across them or have them come across you.

Also if you are in hiding you'd probably have your power armour locked away somewhere. It is a big give away.

Name:Samual Phillips "The Old Man"
Age:57
Gender:Male
Appearance:

1.83m tall. Wears a brown long jacket usually open, a woolen hat and a pair of dark blue jeans. Missing his right eye.
Clothing:Wears a brown long jacket usually open, a woolen hat and a pair of dark blue jeans.
Role in Society:Resistance Leader/Plumber in Doggsville.
Current Member of the Resistance:Yes
Skills:Leadership, can use bolt action rifles, hit and run tactics, can use a crossbow.
Equipment:Old-Lee Enfield Rifle, only ten rounds left. Rough hand made machete.
History:Sam was born on the outskirts of the city on a farm that had been in the family since the bombs dropped. His dad told him the stories that his father had about when the bombs dropped and everything changed. Chaos, panic and general mass hysteria. Things had changed, they had to defend themselves. He was raised using the same rifle that his dad had used, however he barely ever got to fire it and a lot of it was just theoretical lessons to conserve ammo. He also got shown how to construct a rudimentary cross bow which they used to hunt and livestock even became a target for target practice. Unlike most he remained well fed largely due to the fact that he grew up on a farm. Over time the farm grew into a small village, however that brought about new threats. By his eighteenth birthday they were performing raids on the outer edges of the city in order to get vital supplies. It was during this time that he learnt how to raid protected locations, this always seemed to work. Until he was twenty one.

On his Twenty First birthday he was out in the edges of the city, planning to find something to give to his current girlfriend and future mother of his child. However when he returned slavers had raided the settlement and there was almost nothing left except the bodies of those who had thought back. It wasn't clear why they had raided the town or where they had taken the slaves however like the stories he had heard he vowed to track down and save her. He ventured into the city, and spent almost a year raiding from one settlement to another all around the outskirts. Though time and time again after coming across dangerous creatures further in he dared not venture further in.

At twenty two he had given up hope, and was leaving the city forever heading out in the hopes of finding another town much like the one he had been raised in and spent his life in. That is when he picked up the radio broadcast from a small hand held radio he had been carrying around. Come to the center of London it had told him, there was food and supplies for all and the possibility for a world like the one that had been left behind. Growing up on stories he hadn't hesitated fighting his way into the center of the city only when confronted by Kings men he of course was taken for indoctrination, stripped of his weapons and then sent to the slums. For a while, he worked. It had to get better, the work was hard but it would be worth it in the end was all he could think about. Which wasn't true. Things got worse as the slums became more and more crowded, people disappeared without explanation and raids were a common sight in the slums. Eventually, he snapped. For no particular event, just the combination of poor treatment and memories of a childhood that compared to this could be called heavenly.

43 by this point the raids were hard, all they could really do was hit a couple of Guards, maybe knock out a power substation before having to return back to the slums blending in with the average person. However time past and he lead the Resistance towards a different goal, scavenging the city. Surely there had to be weapons out there that they could use, the Slavers got their weapons from somewhere and he was determined to find out where. 14 years on he is no closer to overthrowing the Crown, in fact loss has happened again and again. Despite the growing population the King has managed to solidify his hold on the people and isn't letting go anytime soon, Sams plans currently aren't to overthrow the crown but make its job harder so that more and more people join the cause.

It just means I'll be insulted if you do it improperly :P
