[IC] One Piece: Legacy

The electricity knocked Natsu back, and Sammy began to once more attack before she could recover from the shock to her chest. She had very little time before the man attacked, in fact he was doing so now. Things weren't looking good.

With his opponent down and dazed, Sammy prepared to attack again. Holding one arm out in front of him he shouted, “ Megavolt: Kaminari!”
Trusting only her instincts on predicting the weather, and little else; as she was dazed, Natsu barely rolled out of the way before the lightning strike hit just where she was three seconds ago. Quickly she sprung back onto her feet putting a piece of her blonde hair behind an ear. So, he meant business. She wondered just how much training he had, and took a stance her arm completely encasing in ice. She didn’t want to fully show her hand, but she figured that he knew by now that she had eaten a devil fruit as well. “You know.” She said conversationally, as if she hadn’t been shocked and was fighting to distract the straw hat man. “Your aim could use a little work.” She said moving towards where Griff was standing, going to the right a bit a sly smile on her lips. Come on. Use another electricity attack. She asked in her mind.
“Hey! My aim is perfectly fine!” He whined at the insult. “Let’s see you dodge THIS!!” Sammy threw two more balls of electricity at Natsu which she dodge fairly easily. the balls hit the cover for the sewer line the lid blowing off. It was then that some multiple footfalls sounded, signifying that backup was coming, probably because of all the sounds the electricity made, or perhaps the answered Den-den mushi by her, but many marines were coming this way.

“Marines, coming in from every angle, we need a way out, but how, we need a way” then, the lid from the sewer flied past his face, interrupting his train of thought but giving him the idea he was looking for. “The sewers, it's the only way out, have to take only the important things then, no way the cart fits in there” taking out two suitcases from a secret compartment on his cart he moved the lid next to the hole and took out a flash bomb and threw it at Natsu, then some smoke grenades that he threw all over the battlefield creating a heavy smoke field. making his way straight to Sammy he looked him straight on and with a very serious face he said
“Sammy, I know you want her as a navigator and I butted in the fight but, we don't have much time, we have a minute at most to escape, that manhole is our only way out and the smokescreen won't last long, we have to bail for now, regroup and plan this through.” grabbing him and dragging him towards the manhole “Trust me, I'll even buy you some meat for this but we need to move now!”
Both of them now next to the manhole, Griff threw his two suitcases in there and turned a crank on his cart. “When we enter the manhole, use this to light your way” Griff gave Sammy a toy soldier shaped lamp “just spark the tip of the mouth and a flame should lit, with your powers it should be easy” (the toy is esentially a fire breather imitation toy, when lighted it moves it's feet in dance and flame comes out his mouth, a dial on it's back regulates the intensity of the flame)
Griff entered the manhole and lifted the two suitcases and looked at Sammy “You coming, captain?”
Meanwhile, the cart was now rigged to blow, activating all the noise bombs, fireworks and weird trinkets inside, all but the gunpowder flower, which was in the suitcase, along with Griff's “savings”.

Sammy didn’t really have time to object. Griff spoke so fast that all he heard was “marines coming” and “i’ll buy you some meat” so he followed Griff over to his cart where he began to crank something. when he finished, he handed Sammy a little toy soldier. “When we enter the manhole, use this to light the way.” Sammy looked the toy over, confused as to how this would light the way. Griff must have noticed his confusion. “ust spark the tip of the mouth and it will lite, with your powers it should be easy” Sammy took a closer look at the mouth of the toy and, sure enough, there was a wick inside it. Griff moved toward the manhole and began to enter. Sammy was about to do the same , but not before catching a glimpse of Natsu through the smoke. He turned and stared at her for a couple seconds before giving her a big toothy smile and chuckling “Ny-hihihihi, see ya later Natsu!”
“You coming, captain?” he heard Griff call from the manhole.
“Yep!” With that, Sammy grabed the manhole cover, climbed inside, and put the cover back over top.

Natsu sighs a bit in relief as the marines came looking around. "Oh hello. Lazy-ass' division I take it? Aw. Pops actually does care for little ol' me. Yeah right. So, they got away using the man hole over there. But they might have sealed the entrance and exit here." She says pointing to the hole in which Griff and Sammy had gone through. "They may be headed toward the port, but I doubt they'll go far. They are after all without a navigator." She says rolling her shoulder always feeling a bit strange after using her powers. She walked with the marines being lead to the main office of the marines. Whoop. So. Much. Fun. NOT! She'd get yelled at. Reprimanded.

Sammy landed in the sewer with a big splash, probably get some sewage on Griff, though, he couldn't tell. He took out the soldier lamp from his pocket and sparked the wick inside it's mouth, lighting it instantly. Now that he could see, he saw that he did, in fact, get sewage on most of Griff. "eh-hehe, sorry." Sammy looked around, seeing they had two options: go left or go right. "So, which way do you think we should go Griff?"

Sammy had unintentionally covered most of Griff on god knows what, Griff just glared at Sammy as he asked the question, focusing on the water current, Griff noticed it flowed towards the right, he knew most sewers ended in the ocean, specially on islands. "We should follow the current" Griff responded as he shook his arms trying ot get the rid of the filth on his arms "it's the only way we don't get lost and it should lead to the ocean" it wasn't the first time Griff had escaped into a sewer and it certainly wouldn't be the last, the smell always bothered him though, getting the smell out of his skates was bad enough but now thanks to Sammy ha had to clean everything, even the suitcases "c'mon we have to hurry before they decide to follow us"
Meanwhile in the surface, Griffs cart exploded in a loud bang, fireworks flew all around, catching the atention and spooking any marine trying to open the sewer lid, trying to follow them, lastly a rotten smell came from the cart, a smell so strong it brought anyone who smeled it to tears. The smell covered the general area, grossing out anyone near.

"I did NOT allow those two to escape." Natsu denied glaring at the officer interrogating her. She was starting to really lose her patience. It had been such a promising day. "It wasn't my fault they discovered that man hole. I was avoiding getting shocked to death thank you very much. I can track them down no problem. I am the best navigator in the marine's. Add to the fact that I was the only high ranked official there, the lower ones shouldn't lose their positions over this. Just punish them for not asking my help." She was granted leave for a few days to track the two down by any means possible. She sighs pulling a hand through her blonde hair. "At this rate I'm going to be bald at thirty." She gripes taking out a few stray strands and cracks her back yawning. "The things I do for people." She murmurs and walks down the steps her long measured steps once more making her stride seem lazy the white coat billowing behind her as she made her way slowly to the pier.

Lougetown: Dock 3

Two marine soldiers stand guard at the dock, where goods are being shipped. “man, i’m bored,” one marine says, leaning against a wall, “why’d we have to be assigned to guard duty.”
“Stop whining,” the other says, standing upright, “at least we're not chasing after pirates.”
“I’d rather be doing that than this. i joined the Marines to fight pirates not to do guard work.”
“you should be careful what you wish for, i hear there’s a couple of pirates running around here.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, they’re supposed to be pretty strong too. they took out 50 of us with breaking a sweat.”
“Seriously!? 50!?”
“Yeah, it’s just a rumor though, so i doubt they’re really that strong.”
“hehe yeah, i mean they are just pirates.”
Suddenly, a near by manhole cover exploded off its top, followed shortly by a kid in a strawhat climbing out. “See, i told that would be faster”

"See, I told that would be faster"
"Faster? now the whole town and their mothers will know were we are" Griff said in a sort of angry tone but he was actually relieved that they were out of the sewer, he grabbed a nearby bucket of water and tryed to quickly remove as much of the sewage from his body he could.
"Well, we did come out in the most oportune place, how bout we steal a ship to set sail in?"
Meanwhile the marines that were standing guard
"Hey, do you supose those are the guys that beat the 50"
"No way, they're just kids playing where they're not supposed to, I'll go give them a scolding"
"But the manhole exploded of the into the water, kids can't do that!"
"Maybe they were playing with explosives or something, all the more reason to go give them a scolding"
"I have a bad feeling about this"

Being one of the best navigators in the Marines, Natsu found her way to the pier in twenty-five minutes having gotten belli enough to gain a boat for herself and food to last someone like her months. Being in that forest for years had taught her to conserve and appreciate food whenever she found it yawning. She had a long day and she was looking forward to drifting to sleep. She distinctly saw some marines headed somewhere and rose an eyebrow. She wondered if the pirates had made their way here after the fight. If so this was going to be highly interesting especially if they made their escape. She of course would go after them. After all that was her job.

“Oi! You kids there!”
“hm?” Sammy looked up from washing himself off to see a marine officer was walking towards them. “Us?”
“Yes you. What are you kids up to?”
“Were gonna go out to sea!” Sammy replied with a smile.
“Go out to sea?”
“Ah, but we need a boat. Do you know here we can get one O-san?”
“Y-yeah just head down that way,” the marine pointed opposite to where Sammy was facing. “You’ll get to Dock 1. there should be a few boats for sale there.”
“Ny-hihihi, perfect!” Sammy grabbed Griff by the arm and began pulling him along with him as he ran towards Dock 1. “ Arigatō, O-san!” He shouted back at the marine.
“So, what were those guys up too?” the other marine said walking up to him.
“they just wanted to go out to sea.”
“really? then why take the sewers?”
“Beats me…”
*Ringringringrign ring, ringringrign ring, ringringringring ring*
One of the marines Den-den mushi was ringing, signifying a call from headquarters.
*Clank* “HeadQuarters to Dock 3, do you copy?”
“This is Dock 3, over.”
“We have news about the recent attack by the pirates.”
“What is it?”
“Apparently, one of them was wearing a strawhat.”
……
“...Straw,”
“Hat?...”

Griff was being pulled towards dock one with not much resistance, he went along with it, He didn't know if Sammy used his cunning to fool those marines or if he was just that dense, probably the later, but it didn't matter, they were near a ship and all they needed was to get out of the island as soon as possible without attracting too much attention.
Arriving at dock one, there was a few ships for sale, they weren't grand ships or a battle ready ships, but one had a grand feel to it. Next to the ships was an old man, he sat next to one ship, stacked next to him were barrels of fish, booze and water, boxes of what appeared to be meat, a fishing rod, and a map, the old man had dossed of looking at the map and was drooling over it. Griff took the initiative, told Sammy to play along and gently pushed the old man to the side trying to wake him up.
Old man: WHASAT, HUH? Oh, it's just kids, stop messing around and go bother someone else will ya.
Griff: Sir, how much are the ships?
Old man: Stop messing around you can't possibly afford any of these ships, go suck on your moms tit and stop bothering me will ya
Griff kept his cool, negotiating was something he had trained in, he opened one of his briefcase and took out a gold watch and a bag of gold.
Griff: Sorry sir but I'm not any young man you see, this is some of the money I'm prepared to offer for one of the ships, you see this man behind me is a VIP, we were attacked by pirates, and this is almost all we could salvage from our previous ship, now those very pirates are in this town, looking for us so we need an ordinary ship to travel in a more conspicuous way, same reason we look like commoners. If you sell us a ship and some supplies, we’ll make sure you are rewarded later.
The old man couldn't believe his eyes, the gold clock was made completely out of solid gold, and two bags of more gold were next it, filled to the brim. The man was too happy to even think straight, the story the young man told him made some sense and he heard there was a commotion in town, probably pirates, so he just took the money
Old man: Of course young man, this will do for the ship alone but, the provisions are an extra, these are all my day’s catch you see so … *the man said with a greedy face*
Griff: “But of course good sir, here, this is all we have, will it be enough?” *Griff took out another bag, this one had jewels at the top and some gold coins.
The old man took it and stashed it away in his left pocket.
Griff approached Sammy and whispered to him
Griff: “Captain, as your first crewmember I present you with, any ship you like, I think the first ship of the next pirate king shouldn’t be stolen”
Griff went next to the old man, his right, and began moving the boxes close to the ships.

Meanwhile
the marines looked at the two boys and saw the straw hat on Sammy,
Marine 1: “you don’t suppose those kids are the pirates they were talking about….”
Marine 2: ”There aren’t any people who use straw hats in this island, so it’s very likely…”
Marine 1: “I’ll go check on what they’re doing, I’ll signal you if they do anything weird”

Natsu softly hums to herself as she walked touching the ground and a thin layer of ice filled the side walk so that when the marine moved to go forward to apprehend the pirates she was afte,r he fell comically on his ass. She continued to move forward after straightening her shoe laces going and looking for a small boat for her to buy seeing a younger man.
"Lieutenant Natsu Hizari. An honour it is to serve you." He says with a bow.
"Thank you. I need a boat, one that has a kitchen and a bed and sails fast." She said with a no nonsense tone being showed to the boat she needed. She gave the guy the beli owed and settles her stuff down having grabbed a weeks worth of pay to catch the pirates. She looked at the sky and took a breath. "The waves are going to be rocky without the proper handling. So if they do go off to sea today, they're going to need to head off to the closest island while the waves settle down. Since they don't have a navigator." She said to herself.

(Forgive me for how badly this is gonna suck)

Sammy couldn't help but smile as Griff started loading boxes. An enormous sense of pride started to swell in him as he looked at the ship. His very first. It may not have been the most glorious boat in the world, but in Sammy's eyes, she was beautiful. Shaking his head to snap out of it, he had to remember that they were on the run, and didn't have much time. "Alright, let's get these boxes loaded!" he said, grabbing a nearby barrel.

In no time at all, Sammy and Griff loaded what little they had onto the ship. They had just finished getting it ready to sail, when Sammy noticed a marine walking towards them. "Hey, Griff. Keep going with the preparations. I have a feeling we miiiight need to jet" he said, walking down the loading plank to the officer.

"Hello! Beautiful day for sailing, eh? How may I help you, Officer?"

(I know, it's short, sucky, shitty, and I don't think I portrayed Sammy's personality right. But I'll try and get better)

As Sammy told him, he decided to inspect the ship, as luck would have it, the ship was ready to sail, the main sails just needed to be untied and the ship unatached from the peer. Looking arround the ship, Griff noticed that there were no cannons, or even places where cannons would be placed, the ship wasn't meant or ready for any kind of sea battle, they would have to look for a weapons manufacturer and/or a shipwright, if they were going to the grand line they couldn't be su underprepared. apart from that the ship was cozzy, Griff took his briefcases and stored them in an empty room towards the back of the ship, were he layed all his stuff, he took a nearby table and placed it in the same spot.
Now in a more cofterble enviorment he took out the old man's map, he wouldn't miss it, and they needed it, he examined it closely and there was just one island close enough for them to escape to and get more crewmembers, if they would even make it there, just two inexpirienced people manning a ship is no easy feat. The name of the island cought Griff's atention, wasn't that the place were a band of dangerous blacksmiths and weaponsmiths is, the band called.. something like bloody revolution? Well, it dind't matter, they needed to get away, guns and Griff specialy a new rifle, so that island was the only and best option around. he took a compas and tried to speculate the islands general direction from the map, then he stepped back ou to the ships main deck.

Natsu placed everything she had gotten in the kitchen and put what needed to be chilled in the refrigerator. She liked the pretense of normality. It helped with deceiving others into thinking she was just another person. She watched the marine her eyes thinned. Those two wanna be pirates were for her to chase after. She might not be an ordinary marine but when she was told on no uncertain terms to catch people she did so even if that was against her being. Her hand went to the sword on her waist as she went to the rope holding her boat. She needed to prepare to sail at the moment's notice.

The sea wind hit the two young boys face, finally out of the island and in the vast ocean, on their way to adventure and unknown, that’s what Griff would have liked but reality is harsh sometimes.
In reality, Sammy was tied to a life rope on the mast, trying to deflect incoming cannonballs while Griff desperately tried to keep the ship from sinking in the storm. That’s right, all that hit their face was salty water from the unforgiving waves. “Being chased by marines and in the middle of a storm, what luck” Griff screamed at the air as a water hit his face, he took a look at Sammy on the top of the mast, he seemed to be enjoying himself up there, safe from most water. Oh how Griff wished they had a navigator or more crewmates, well, this is what happens wen Sammy tries to get rid of marines.

an hour before

Griff stepped out into the main deck, some storm clouds were forming, but apart from that, it was a normal sky, great for sailing he thought, getting of the boat to look for sammy he heard thunder. “huh, is a storm coming? but there’s not enough cl…”just then he saw Sammy next to a black burned marine on the ground. “WHAT THE HELL SAMMY, WE HAD TO KEEP A LOW PROFILE!!!”. Sammy just laughed “He didn’t buy my lie so I had to shock him, don’t worry“
*sigh* Griff was getting sort of used to the captains “foolishness” by now “The marine will be on our tail now, come on” Griff and Sammy ran towards the boat and set sail immediately.
Meanwhile the other marine ran for help scared, taking out a den den mushi “HELP HELP, we found the pirates, they’re in the docks!!” They sent a small marine ship that managed to follow them out to sea.

Now

The storm wasn’t letting out, then suddenly they found themselves sailing up a giant wave, Griff took this as an opportunity, the ship climbed and climbed being now almost completely vertical, Sammy laughing his ass off while swinging from the rope. Griff anchored in place with one of his gadgets, it all looked like they would capsize, the marine ship pulled away not to far behind. “Come on, COME ON!, don’t fail us now!!” Griff screamed as the ship began to fall towards backwards, then out of nowhere a seaking serpent came out of the water, hitting the bottom of the ship and flipping them rightside up again, on the other side of the wave. Griff couldn't believe his eyes, it had been the first time he had seen a seaking, and it saved them from certain doom, Sammy looked excited and happy, Griff guessed that this was the kind of adventure Sammy looked for in the sea.

Now away from the marines, the duo entered the eye of the storm, Griff pointed the ship the best he could towards the nearest island using his compass, they weren’t out of the woods yet.

Natsu on her own ship navigated her way through the rough turf of the sea her eyes constantly moving from the tall waves to the wheel not about to be outsmarted by nature today. She also had to make sure that no other marines took the two that she was chasing after. They were hers. When a stray cannon ball headed her way she took out the wado and sliced the ball instantly freezing it and causing it to immediately sink within the jerky depths regrabbing her wheel as it started spinning crazily the moment she let go of it. She would get through this it wasn't a question. "I swear if the marines make me fall to sea I'm going to haunt them." She muttered crossly not able to concentrate on so may things. And the storm wasn't over with so she had to continue to navigate through these troubled waters following after the two pirates.
