Zodiark chuckled as he noticed Nadeline’s saviors were aiming to interfere in a fight that, up until just a few moments ago, was a one-on-one venture. Of course, after that Shinto had opened his mouth, there was no mistaking that he recognized the spell that Zodiark had used. Still, even if they were to make it in time, they had no chance in hell of stopping Zodiark, much less saving their dear Nadeline.

It seems the deal we made might be cut off, Hume girl.” Zodiark said, citing the interference of her friends as a dealbreaker.

He kept his eyes on the slowly-shrinking prison Nadeline was in, but as the Viera and humes would gather their magicks to attack, Zodiark threw his staff into the air, letting it float. In his now free hand, he formed a handsign to where his index, middle, and thumb fingers were out. He placed his arm under his other one. From there, he gathered powerful magicks and sent a wave of darkga towards the ground. It was a more enhanced version of the spell than most were used to. He would unleash it upon all of them - even those who had yet to decide to help.

Though everything that was happening to him and Emiri wasn’t exactly idea, Jaakuna’s mind couldn’t help but go to the gutter when Emiri flipped him on his back and had landed on top of him. As she would shout, all he could think about was that first time that they were together and how he was in a very similar position as he was right now. And despite her yelling at him, saying all of those feelings that were bottled him, Jaakuna had a stupid grin on his face.

Ya know, this is just like that night. You know - the first time we actually spent the night together.” Jaakuna wiggled his eyebrows. But the reminiscing of good times would cease entirely as she would grip his throat. She had a strong grip, that Emiri. Jaakuna, before he was starting to be choked to death, had forgotten about her surprisingly strong grip. It was amazing and terrible at the same time. Because he had let her do this, now he was struggling to break free of her hold.

And all the while, he heard her. And the words she spoke before. When the good times faded, much like Emiri’s composure, it reached a breaking point and he not only saw her pain, but he felt it. Not through him, but Belias relayed that pain to him. Espers have more of a talent of sensing that kind of thing than the humes do, so when Jaakuna finally would feel her pain, he realized something - well, aside from needing to break free or he’d die. He realized that she wasn’t entirely gone. This Emiri that was yelilng at his face and choking him was the insecure Emiri that he met before. The one that ran away from Stigma the first time and ended up as a hunter in Rabanastre. It was the same Emiri that left him to go face Nadeline in Bhujerba.

And in realizing that, Jaakuna’s fire was activated once more. This time, he didn’t waste his time grabbing her wrists. As quickly as he possibly could(given the circumstances of course), Jaakuna would press both of his golden, blazing hands onto Emiri’s...erm, assets as hard as he could and push with all his might.

My heart burns with awesome gold and blazing red. My hands are an extension of my soul and it’s roaring loudly, telling me to purify you,” Jaakuna said, as if citing an incantation, “Purifying Blaze Palms!” As he shouted that, the intensity of his hands erupted in deeper golds and reds, giving Jaakuna an extra boost of magickal powers as he now had Emiri on the ground and he was now on top of her, breasting harder, intent on finishing what he started.

Nadeline didn't have the slightest clue what was going on, but from the looks of things, the cavalry had arrived. She couldn't help but lament the loss of the opportunity, but it was too late to go back. She had to prioritize her own escape first--but how? Physical attacks did nothing, and casting magicks ran the risk of her own life force being drained faster. Biting her lower lip, she watched the walls closing in. Despite not being claustrophobic, she definitely felt the need to be out in the open once more. At this point, she had to get out. Deciding to take action once more, she closed her eyes, putting her rapier down as she would get on her knees. Clasping her hands together, she would pray.

Meanwhile, Shion paid no heed to Zodiark's words--he could claim to be honorable all he wanted, but she knew better. Instead, she mimicked her previous attack, her strike clashing with the Darkga, resulting in an explosion when the white magick and the dark magicks made contact. Vlyn let out a curse as he realized the spell was area of effect, barely managing to dodge it as he turned back to Grant, still motionless. "Your Highness!" He called out.

"Gonna stay useless, are you?!" Lorenzo shouted, a fiery Mist around him as he shot forward. He skidded to a halt in front of Grant and the still unconscious Savayna, punching the ground. Once his fist made contact, and explosion of Mist occurred, wrapping the three. Panting heavily, he dropped down on one knee, having used the last of his own Mist reserves. "I can't believe you...sitting there feeling sorry for yourself...when we're all busting our asses putting our own lives on the line! What kind of message are you trying to send?!" He seemed angry as he scolded Grant, his back still to him.

Grant finally managed to look up at Lorenzo, the reality only just hitting him. "Lorenzo..."

"You think you're the first person to be going through this shit?! You think you're so goddamned special?! Get the fuck up Grant! You're one of them--one of them chosen with the Espers, right?! Then fucking DO something already!" Lorenzo managed to shout, though immediately as he finished his last word, he collapsed to the ground.

"Lorenzo!" Grant seemed to snap out of it, scrambling over to his older brother.

"You better do something...otherwise I'm going to make you look stupid in front of your girlfriend...no, sorry, your fiance..." He muttered, clearly struggling even just to talk. "I have to admit though...knowing Roland wasn't entirely guilty...it was...comforting...save her...save Nadeline..." His voice trailed off as he fainted.

Inhaling sharply, Grant wasn't able to hold back the tears he unwittingly held back. He nodded as he would stand, though he felt something oddly familiar in the air. As he turned towards the battle, he could feel Nadeline in there, doing...something. He knew what she was trying to do. Somehow. Her magicks sing for you. Will you answer? Zeromus asked him.

Without replying, Grant would once again get on his knees, though it was no longer a position of submission. He closed his eyes, concentrating, feeling everything and everyone around him. I'm an idiot. Sorry, He thought back to Zeromus.

No apologies. Only actions now.

Things would come to a halt, the Mist in the air around them almost freezing into place. After a few seconds, they would begin to segregate, sorting themselves. Little by little, both Nadeline and Grant would become surrounded by pure White and Black Mist respectively. As Grant opened his eyes, they illuminated his golden eyes moreso than usual, and he would stand. Raising his gun, he aimed for Nadeline's prison, to which she too had picked up her weapon. Three, two, one--! He fired off a single shot just as she had stabbed into the prison's magicks, and everything went still. Then, as if a dam had broken, the Mist all around them would become crazed.

"Now there's something I haven't seen in some time." Shion mused, the Mist blowing her hair back as the prison would erupt.

Landing on her feet, Nadeline flipped her hair back as Grant would join her. "Sorry I'm late," He apologized sincerely.

"You made me nervous for a bit," She admitted quietly, though she smiled. "Together, then? It seems the deal is no more."

"So be it." Grant agreed, the pair standing back to back, weapons poised.

It was as if her very soul was on fire.

Why? Why was he trying so hard to change things? Didn't he understand?

Maybe he did. Maybe that's just no way to live life.

But it would always be painful. Wait, no, that's not right. There were good times, too...right?

Things she had never thought once of before, now flooding her mind. Things she had clung on to, suddenly gone with the wind.

Was it his magicks? Or...was it that same feeling anytime he was near?

I think...it's time to end this.

Taking his hands in hers, holding them tightly, her eyes closed as she would. And then...?

"I won't run away! Never again!" Emiri shouted back at him, grabbing his arm with both hands as she struggled to free herself. "If someone as weak as I can understand that, surely you can as well?" The wall behind them brightened, though Keiran would release her unwillingly as the flames seared through them both. Gods, she was going to punch Jaakuna, his magicks seemed to be burning her up from the inside. She managed to get on all fours, dragging her sword as she would crawl over to Keiran, who was more affected than she was. "It's funny...you've made me feel so angry...but really...it's not anger that I have..." She said as she raised her sword. “I was just…

The flames would die out, whether unwillingly or not, though a glyph formed underneath the pair. It dissolved, lifting the darkness up and around them, exploding into what looked like glitter as it fell around them. As if on cue, Emiri opened her violet eyes, staring back at Jaakuna. At first, she remained completely silent. But after a moment, the tears came, a small smile on her face.

"I really caused you trouble this time, didn't I?" She asked him tearfully.

And so another one cracks the seal.

In the span of just a few hours, nearly all of the Esper Seals have been unlocked. It started with Hamut and Exodus. When the Judge-Sal’s seal - the most ancient of them all - was unlocked, Zodiark felt it. The waves of Mist travelled through the spectrum and he felt how Exodus was judging all those who opposed his Chosen One. He felt how all those who were against the Dragon of Archades would fall. And so they did - well in a manner of speaking. The one that judges everyone and deems them below him is perfect for a Scion of Darkness who had eventually done the same thing to Ivalice and all those within it.

Following him was the Seal of the Gigas, to which young Jackson overcame great anguish to empower himself with all that is fiery and fierce. Determined and set in his ways, it was fitting that the one who held the ultimate key to healing anything would fall into the one who started out as an outcast. The one who swore to protect his friends and allies. A fitting seal and fitting Esper for a protector.

Along the way, three more seals were unlocked -all seemingly tied to one another. Mateus, the Corrupt, Zeromus the Condemned, and the Pseudo-Queen and leader of the Scions of Darkness, Ultima, the High-Seraph - all unlocked through their chosen one’s intense emotions to protect those closest to them.

For Savayna, her drive was to prove her worth. It was fitting that she unlocked it while corrupted by a foreign invader. But after it was all said and done and the Ice Queen herself took some time to cool off, it ended up being the one moment where she did prove that she belonged with everyone else. As did another.

Probably considered the exact same as Savayna as well as the complete opposite, Nadeline Lenore also went through strides to prove her worth. First, it was to her family, then to her friends. And after she did the same to her own fiance, it was to her greatest enemy: herself. One that truly went beyond any and all previous expectations that anyone ever had about her, Nadeline surpassed the odds and actually went toe to toe with the Keeper of Precepts himself, Zodiark. Not an easy thing to do.And yet, she, like many before her, came up short. Though, it is worth noting that she would have died if not for the courageous efforts from Grant. Because he unlocked Zeromus’ impressive Seal of the Condemned, he, ironically, was Nadeline’s savior. That, above all else, was the defining moment for him.

And as they stood back to back and the rest came to join them, Zodiark would look on. His eyes seeing what he never thought would happen: Humes and Viera in arms about to oppose an enemy they could not hope to defeat with power that they knew that they didn’t have for long. To Zodiark, it was foolish, but to them, he was an enemy and they wanted to eliminate him. Perhaps it could be done, but not now. Not with the amount of power that they have. It simply wasn't the time.

So, as Zodiark seemed satisfied, he let his black armor fade and he was back in his robes. His tome had returned and his additional arms back as if on the blink of an eye. He gazed upon them all. He waved his arm and awakened Savayna. “You all have impressed me. Especially you Rozarrian Girl and Condemned One. And for that, I will uphold my end of the bargain, Rozarrian Girl. You are allowed three truths. Any you seek and I will tell you. As the Keeper of Precepts, I am bound to my word. Now, speak and be heard.” Zodiark stated, looking at Nadeilne curiously.

He pressed as hard as he could. All of the determination to rid Emiri of any and all of Zodiark’s influence was stronger than any amount of fatigue he was experiencing right now. The love and affection he held for Emiri was stronger than the injuries he sustained during his fights throughout the day. It didn’t matter to him. Nothing mattered more than getting Emiri back and out of the clutches of Keiran and any other possible ‘seed’. His eyes reflected the burning desire within him. They burned with the same brilliant gold and red that his entire body seemed to because he was now surrounded by a literal healing fire aura, all of which was being concentrated into Emiri’s entire body.

He felt himself running low on stamina. Belias would note that there was only so much power he could lend Jaakuna without it overwhelming and destroying his very soul, but Jaakuna quickly retorted that his life was meaningless without her. “You hear me, Belias! I don’t care if I am destroyed in the process. If it means she is saved, I don’t care what happens to me!

And as Jaakuna spoke those final words, something brought him out of his own frenzy. It was subtle. Warm. He felt warm hands grab his own. In the blink of an eye, Jaakuna’s Mist ceased its outward appearance and he was back to his pale self. Blonde hair a normal gold. His eyes back to the grassy-green. And above all else, when he looked down at Emiri, he saw a shade of violet that he never thought he’d ever see again. And tears from eyes he never thought he would see flow out of those eyes. And...and…

He embraced her. He didn’t say anything. Not a witty ‘you scared me half to death’ comment. Nothing came from his mouth. He just held her as close as he possibly could. For the first time in a long time, probably since before Chaos first wiped her memory, Jaakuna had his Emiri back. She returned to him and he couldn’t be happier. He never wanted to let her go.

The first thing that came to mind had to be 'why would you give us this chance in the first place', however, if what he said was true, then this was a chance that couldn't go to waste. Nadeline remained stoic, though her mind seemed to go full power. Grant had lowered his weapon, though remained alert, understanding Nadeline's turmoil. Vlyn and Aloa were a bit more relaxed, though Aloa watched Zodiark carefully. He was confident, that much she knew, but his thought process was enigmatic. No, he knew what he was doing--he simply had that much confidence in his own abilities. He knew that if he should so decide, he could wipe them all out here and now. This was all just a game to him. They were his playpieces, with him pulling the strings.

And that was a terrifying thought.

Everyone was silent for a moment, though Shion would shift her weight onto her other foot, eyeing Nadeline. "Go on. You earned it," She prompted the princess.

Grant looked at Shion. "Any three truths...it could mean the answers to a lot of things," He pointed out. "It's...quite the predicament."

"Is that what we're calling it?" Vlyn asked wearily.

"She doesn't want to waste them. But there is one particular question that comes to mind. Isn't that right, Your Highness?" Aloa would dispel all curiousities with her point.

Nadeline remained silent. What she wanted to know--or rather, what she selfishly wanted--was to know if Wesley would be alright. She wanted to know if he would recover, she wanted to know why Sylvester came back from the dead. But all of it was her own desire, and she couldn't bring herself to do it, no matter how much she wanted to know.

"That tome of yours...how is it able to get so much knowledge about things it shouldn't know?" Nadeline decided to get one question out of the way. "It knows events that you couldn't possibly be present for...even recognizing emotions. Even magicked books have their limit, but that one does not."

For just a moment, everything seemed right. She didn't have anything clouding her mind, she was fully aware of everything around her. She was in control of her own body, her own thoughts, and as she felt Jaakuna's warm body, she knew she was fully back. It felt like it had been so long since she was able to do as she pleased, but more importantly, it had been so long since she felt like herself. But right now, in their little bubble, things were finally right.

For just a moment, anyway.

"Why would you continue in a world that constantly rejects you?"

Lightly pushing herself away from Jaakuna, she let out a sigh, bringing herself to stand and turn towards Keiran. She was surprised--he seemed wholly intact, casually leaning against the wall behind him with his arms crossed and a frown on his face. He looked tired, a likely result from Jaakuna severing their connection. But the question was a genuine one with no malice behind it. He let out a sigh, tilting his head slightly to the side as he stared at the pair.

Emiri placed her hands on her hips, seemingly annoyed. "Still here, are you?" She couldn't help but ask. "Thought I suppose if you must ask, life carries on whether we want to or not. You just have to deal with it."

"Just...deal with it," He didn't seem satisfied at all.

"I learned that from this one," Emiri jabbed a finger towards Jaakuna.

As she would ask her first question, Zodiark couldn’t help as he lowly chuckled at Nadeline’s question. “Of course you would ask about it.

He has studied this particular group of Ivalicians for a long time and there was definitely something daring and special about them. Specifically, Nadeline was the kind of Hume who valued the training of the mind above all else. Her potent magick was surely impressive, but it was the knowledge she had mentally that allowed her to know all of the little things about Espers and Ivalice’s history. So, it did seem very fitting that she would use the first ‘wish’ to ask about Zodiark’s Tome.

Looking at the girl, Zodiark let out an amused sigh. “I’m disappointed, Hume Girl. you would think you’d recognize your own tome. But perhaps you never noticed that it was switched out, did you?” Zodiark said, giving Nadeline a dose of truth that he promised. “Yes, that’s right. The Tome that you yourself had for the longest time was, in fact, The Grand Tome of Ivalice. It bonded to you and your memories and the memories that of your friends and family. This tome is a special one, for it does not display pre-written history but rather acts as a conduit for the desires of whomever holds it and displays such information for them.” Zodiark would reveal to her, answering her first question.

While he let that sink in, Zodiark would simply wait. Whether she wanted to retort or just skip ahead to her second question would be all on her. He was simply going to give her the time that she needed to soak that all in. It sure was one hell of a bomb to drop on her, that’s for damn sure.

Before all of this happened, Jaakuna had asked himself and anyone who would listen if what he was experiencing was a dream. He didn’t want to believe Emiri was gone. But now, he found himself asking himself the same question. Not because of how Emiri was just a few moments ago, but how surreal this all seemed. He wasn’t sure if this truly was reality or if he was perhaps still unconscious and if he woke up, she wouldn’t be - well, his Emiri. The same Emiri that he had fallen in love with.

And as he asked himself over and over again, he heard Belias. It’s real. Make no mistake about it, Jaakuna. What you’re experiencing now - the joy of holding her in your arms -that’s all real. You did it. Bask in your glory, Prodigal Sun. you freed The Time Scion from his grasp.

Those words would melt into his mind and made Jaakuna finally happy. In all the pain and strife he went through, everything was okay now. She was okay now. She was free of Zodiark. She was free of his influence and he couldn’t be happier.

And then, he saw Keiran -he heard keiran. He heard him inqiure to Emiri, then she would simply tell him to deal with it. “Wait, what do you mean ‘this one’? I am not just ‘this one’ - I am THE one,” Jaakuna would clarify, obviously defensive.

Idiot. Belias said, giving Jaakuna a mental scowl.

As he would huff even more, this time at Belias’comment, Jaakuna looked to Keiran. Seemed as though he was now the one without a purpose. Or maybe he was just unsure what to do. He stood up and approached Keiran and pinned him against the wall and had a hand gripping his neck. For a moment, Jaakuna had his mind set on obliterating this man from existence. His free hand went ablaze of deep red and it was being poised to punch Keiran. Since he was no longer attached to Emiri, it wouldn’t hurt her. So, why not do it?

Give me a reason why I shouldn’t kill you right now?” Jaakuna asked Keiran, “I want you to give me a solid reason. If you can convince me, I won’t slaughter you right now. I’ll let you live your life however you want to. I’ll take Emiri with me and that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.” Jaakuna said as he held his flaming fist just inches away from Keiran’s face, the flames reflecting in the young male’s empty eyes.

"To think the same tome we used to help us would be hinder us in the future," Grant murmured, clearly unamused.

Nadeline silently cursed herself. She should have been more specific than that--what she wanted to know was how Zodiark got his hands on it, although the possibility of numerous copies was low. He was picking his words carefully as well. He spoke the truth alright, but it lead to more questions than anything. No, wait, that was her mistake. She was treating this as some sort of question and answer column. Still, she was satisfied with the answer she got, even if it wasn't as complete as she had wanted to be.

"Surely you know how much of a threat Jaakuna and Emiri are to you--and I couldn't fathom you somehow not knowing that they alone could possibly match you in power," She chose to continue, narrowing her eyes. "And yet you have those under your legion--Keiran, Levi...and...Sylvester...rather than kill them outright, you chose instead to whisk them away. What is it that you're really planning? I can't imagine you having all that power for simple domination. There has to be more to it."

Keiran smirked once more, though he would close his eyes. "What kind of question is that? A reason not to kill me? There isn't one, I couldn't even think of one even if I tried. Though...I suppose I have a reason for you to go ahead--you're not going to quite get the same satisfaction if you wait too long," He stated, lifting his hand for Jaakuna to see. The skin around his hand was starting to get worn and flake-like. "He'll come to get rid of me soon. So if you decide to finish me off now, you'd be doing me a favor."

Emiri's eyes widened, though she didn't seem to agree with Keiran. "Running away again, are we?" She asked him, a sad look on her face. "That's..."

"Pitiful. Is that what you mean?"

She couldn't quite word her response right. "No. It's just sad. As much as it pains me to say, you're basically what I would have become had I never met Jaakuna--just going through the motions and wanting nothing more than to hide from everything." She said quietly. "Even if given a chance...you wouldn't think to reconsider?"

Right you are. I have a plan for those two. “ Zodiark said, answering Nadeline’s question.

What’s the plan!?” Suddenly, Savayna’s voice yelled as her body staggered closer to the group and about ten paces away from Zodiark.

Oh, I see that you’re able to move. Impressive.” Zodiark clapped his six hands together, congratulating her.

Though she struggled, SAvayna had her will back. “Answer me--” She started to cough up blood, “ what’s--ah ah -- your plan for them..” Savayna found herself losing her footing and would land in Grant’s arms, though her eyes were dead-set on Zodiark.

He would chuckle and smile at the group. “I believe in reuniting those with their loved ones. Savayna, I did that with your father and how you finally saw him after so many years. Grant, I did that - in a way - when I told you the truth about your brother. And Nadeline, I helped your dearest Wesley become reunited with his brother.” Zodiark bragged about his generous gifts to the group in front of him. “And, just as I had with you, I reunited Jaakuna with his dearest Emiri. Who knows? By now, she may even be back to normal. Or she could be dead. The latter is certainly a thought to entertain, is it not? Or maybe Jaakuna is dead. An even worse one to think about.” Zodiark laughed, then regained his focus. “To answer your question, I’ll tell you this: history will repeat itself and those who claimed victory will, once again, chain the heretics to their rightful prisons.

Jaakuna was starting to grow weary of Keiran’s own self-pity. He didn’t know what was worse: hearing Zodiark-Influenced Emiri that she was ready to die or that Keiran was going to die soon by Zodiark. It was like, regardless who was actually responsible, that they were ready to just kick the bucket. It’s almost as if they had no free will of their own.

Gods damn it all,” Jaakuna said, sounding defeated.

Watch how you talk about me. Belias chuckled.

Ignoring Belias’s peanut gallery banter, he regained his focus on Keiran. His blazing fist was gone, but he still had Keiran pinned against the wall, though he would place his left forearm against Keiran’s upper-chest, just inches below his neck. “You’re pathetic, Keiran. How could someone who was so confident before - so sure of their power- now be content with death. Where did all of it go?” Jaakuna pressed harder, his anger showing. “Here you have all of this power. For Occuria’s sake, you are a Seed of Zodiark. Not only that, but you have free will. Maybe instead of wallowing in your own self-pity and resigning to death, you should actually fight for your life. If you have even an ounce of defiance in your body, then use it.” Jaakuna said to him, letting him go, “if you don’t, then I will simply order you, or need I remind you of our little deal? Through all of his motivational rhetoric, Jaakuna let out a sinister chuckle.

That’s a tad underhanded, don’t you think?

Desperate times, Belias. Desperate times.

Still pretty low - even for you.

She could feel her blood boiling, but she remained calm. Well, mostly calm. Nadeline knew not to expect too much from these so called 'truths', but everything she had been told gave her nothing. Having Jaakuna and Emiri fight would certainly give him an advantage should one or the other manage to actually kill--but Jaakuna would never be able to do it. Not intentionally...no, she shouldn't be thinking like that. She was sure he was trying to snap her out of whatever it was that Keiran had done, but at the same time, Emiri killing Jaakuna was just as possible, provided how crazed she was back in the Westersand.

Grant wasn't amused at all by Zodiark's so called 'charity'. Though his last statement actually worried him. History would repeat himself...why did that part bother him so much? He looked over at Nadeline, who had an equally grim expression, and despite not being able to read her mind, the pair probably had the same thought:

The Espers rebelled and lost.

"How admirable," Shion stated, cutting the tension as her voice practically dripped with sarcasm. "There was never any hope of getting a clear answer, was there?"

"No matter how vague, the truth is just that," Aloa reminded her, though it was clear she was equally displeased. "Choose the next one carefully, Highness, though know you may not get what you ask for."

Letting out a sigh, Nadeline would place her rapier on her belt, crossing her arms. So be it, then. She wasn'r going to get a clear answer, but a hint was better than nothing. "Every being--mortal or not, Hume or other, will perish at one point or another. Tell me, how will your own demise come?"

"Because it was never my power to begin with," Keiran corrected Jaakuna immediately, literally waving away his concern. "I was literally born out of Zodiark's power, and I then 'borrowed' Emiri and used her power as I saw fit...I have nothing." He stared at Jaakuna, exasperated. "Feeling sympathy for the devil, are we? Didn't your mother teach you better? We demons aren't to be trifled with--and as far as I could tell, you never defeated Emiri in battle. You used your little fire-juju-mojo crap, that doesn't count."

Emiri looked at Keiran, curious. "You did say a contract was formed, didn't you?" She asked. When he nodded, she sported a mischievous grin. "So...do a dance for me."

Much to his horror, Keiran started dancing. "W-W-Wait a sec, that's cheating!" He shouted, clearly alarmed.

"Hit your head with that wall, please." She asked sweetly.

Without hesitation, Keiran would turn around to face the wall, immediately bashing his head against it. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?" He asked as he turned back around.

"Considering all the crap you made me do, it's about time justice was served!" She cackled, and as she opened her mouth, she stopped. "Speaking of...if you said you got that power from me, does that mean I can do all that dark stuff, too?"

"His influence was cleansed from you, but a majority of the magicks I displayed are your own abilities. Albeit, they're from Chaos." He explained, wagging a finger at her.

That made sense--after all, Chaos' bindings seemed to be formed with her own magicks. She wondered if her Esper was still chained, though he didn't say a word--she preferred it that way. As she spotted Keiran's sour expression, she glared at him. "Do I need to make you hurt yourself again? You should take what Jaakuna said into consideration." She threatened.

He immediately shook his head frantically. "No! N-No, that's...not needed...I swear," He pleaded, though he crossed his arms once more. "So...I supposed I should ask...how you plan to leave, now." He said hesitantly. "Not sure if you two noticed, but this is essentially Zodiark's base of operations. And his generals are probably roaming the halls. And they probably heard the battle."

Without skipping a beat, Emiri smiled. "We can leave the way Jaakuna came! He did come to save me, after all," She cheerfully replied. Keiran actually paled in expression. "...what?"

"Jaakuna...was kidnapped. Same as you."

Emiri's jaw dropped, and she immediately grabbed Jaakuna's arm, shaking him. "Is this true?!" She asked, panicked.

You ask me that question, but would you dare ask Ultima what would be her demise?” Zodiark looked directly at Grant, Savayna, and the Viera - specifically the Viera, “and you four - the Chosen Ones - would you dare ask Mateus or Zeromus or Zalera how they would die? No, because that in itself would show weakness.” Zodiark was now offended, “my demise will come one way or another, I know this to be true. It might happen soon or maybe in a year from now, but I know it’ll happen. However, until that time arrives, I will savor my time on Ivalice for as long as I can. For too long I was imprisoned by those who feared my power. By those who couldn’t possibly to begin to understand what true excellence was. To ask such a question is…

And suddenly, ZOdiark’s eyes were glowing ...well not so much as glowing, but fading into pure blackness. And with that, a vile black mist aura surrounded him and his hands extended to grab all of those within his reach. Unlike with Grant earlier, Zodiark was the one who got closer to them.

For all you’ve accomplished today and impressing me with your strong magicks, allow me to give you one final truth!” his tone sounded crazed. It was almost as if he became possessed by something...ancient.When Zodiark’s voice went silent, a black cloud of mist would surround each and every one of them and Zodiark. Inside this cloud, they would see the destruction of Dalmasca, of Arcadia, and yes, of Stigma - all of it overrun with unstable Mist and monsters and feinds of all kinds. And in each of the cities, those closest to her, the ones that she held dear - all of them hung for all to see.

After the vision ended, the group of Humes and Viera, and Zodiark were returned back to reality. In what might’ve felt like an eternity was only three seconds in the real world. “That is the truth. It will become your new reality.” Zodiark would release them from his hold, just giving them time to process it all.

Jaakuna didn’t know what he was enjoying more: the fact that Emiri had ordered Keiran to smack his head against the wall or that she threatened to do it again if he didn’t comply with what Jaakuna had proposed to him? He really was thinking about it. And he couldn’t help but cackle as Keiran would actually speak out of fear of getting hurt on Emiri’s command again. It truly was a sight to see. Definitely something that was a long-time coming. He would even hear Belias enjoy this just deserts.

As Keiran would ask the two of them how they planned on leaving, Jaakuna would think about that. He definitely wouldn’t be able to come back the way he came...or would he? Interrupted mid-thought, Emiri motioned to Jaakuna as she would ask him if it was true that he was Zodiark’s prisoner. He would look to her, unsure how to word it. “Well, I guess technically..

Technically? You mean actually, right?

He ignored Belias once more and continued, “okay, so yeah he kidnapped me. But, I think I might have an idea,” Jaakuna said, smiling somewhat, “if Zodiark used some kind of space-time magick to poof me here, then surely Keiran here would be able to do the very same, wouldn’t you?” He looked towards Keiran, almost as if stating that if he didn’t do it, he’d unleash The Emiri on him and let her do whatever she wished to do.

Was it truly their future? Were their efforts truly all for nothing? Everyone's sacrifices, their pain, their suffering, it was all just a precursor for the things to come. Nadeline tried to deny it, truly she did, but remembering Stigma how it was now--broken--Zodiark's vision wasn't quite that far off. She found herself shaking unwillingly, clutching her own arms as she tried to shake off the feeling of dread. No, regret? She didn't know what it was, but it made her feel horrible. It was only worse when she looked to Grant, who seemed to mirror her image.

"Pathetic."

Nadeline lifted her head, eyes wide as she caught Shion's glare. The princess actually winced--her look was absolutely scathing. "Wh-what?" She asked meekly, half afraid to even respond to Shion.

"I said pathetic. Do not ask me to repeat myself again," Her voice was unnaturally sharp, only matching the equally cold look she gave. "Must you succumb to his mind tricks right towards the end? An animal grows more dangerous towards the end of its life...and clearly, he sees you enough of a threat to throw such a half-assed attempt at breaking you."

Grant actually let out a chuckle, much to Nadeline's surprise. "That department isn't exactly my strength," He admitted outright, letting out a sigh and nudging Nadeline. "You're supposed to be the optimist, remember?"

"Nonsense, I've always been both the realist and the voice of reason!" She snapped back at him, though as soon as the words left her mouth, she realized what he meant. "Even if the world should crumble, I would advise against underestimating humanity. We Humes are fickle in our ways--and we won't stop until we've won." She warned Zodiark, seemingly picking up back where she left off. "This is our truth--we will prevail. I suggest you prepare yourself accordingly."

Keiran noticed Jaakuna's rather frighteneing look, though he let out a sigh of annoyance. "Didn't you hear what I said? My powers are an extension of my master's powers. Zodiark isn't my master anymore, Emiri is," He reminded Jaakuna, slightly exasperated. "Get that gunk out of your ear and listen for once, will you?"

Biting her lower lip, Emiri thought long and hard about Keiran's words. If that was the case, were those dark magicks of his truly her own? Deciding to test it out, she took a few steps back, squeezing her eyes shut as she concentrated. She would snap her fingers, letting out a small yelp of surprise as her clothes dissolved, though they would reform as a simple little dress. She practically squealed in excitement, taking a good look at herself. "I did it! Wait, I still have dark magicks...?" Her excitement was quickly exterminated as she realized the implications. "Wait, I thought..."

"Like I said, if I could do it, it means you could do it. Allegiance to dark lords optional," He sighed. "You two were made for each other, I swear, making me say the same thing over and over..."

"Sit down and shut up," She snapped, not even bothering to look at him as he obeyed. "What do you think, Jaakuna? Should we give it a try?"

These Ivalicians truly were an entertaining bunch. He showed them a glimpse of what was to come and instead of cowering in fear, they stood defiant. Was this how Princess Ashe felt when she stood up to the Occuria? It was an admirable trait in them, but at the end of the day, no amount of stubborn fortitude will make any difference. They will fall and the Keeper of Precepts will stand on top of them as their new god.

I look forward to where your words become more than that,” Zodiark would bow his head slightly as a sign of respect. “Until then, you do enjoy what little time you have left. You might not ever get to enjoy it if you come straight to me.” With those parting words, Zodiark faded into a portal of blackened mist as it swallowed his form and all traces of ZOdiark within the great country of Arcadia vanished, the air finally returning to its purity.

And as they were left with what had just transpired, Savayna grunted as she would find her footing once more. “I...have a lot of explaining to do, don’t I?

Not now, Savayna. There’s plenty of time for that to happen, but first you guys need to find our Emperor and their Empress,” Shinto said, looking at the Rozarrians of the group, “or have you forgotten that she’s out there somewhere with Roman?” Shinto reminded them. “As for me, I will stay here with Lannit and as soon as Do--

WHERE ARE THOSE SONS OF BITCHES! I’LL KILL THEM ALL!” The always obnoxious Dominic dashed in a flare of red and gold, lightning surrounding him.

Shinto didn’t have the patience to deal with him now, so he simply flicked his fingers in a swift motion and Dominic was struck with a strong telekinetic force, knocking him out once more. “I swear to all that is holy, he never knows when to shut up.

Agreed,” Lannit said, rising up as he felt his head, “I feel like I just died.

Shinto simply turned and face the rest of the group, choosing not to answer Lannit just yet. “In any case, you lot better go find them. I’m betting that they’re both curious about what just happened today.” Shinto would walk over to Dominic unconscious body and carry him over to Lannit.

Amazing,” Jaakuna found himself astonished at how many things EMiri could make him do. Or what she has made him do thus far. “You really can make him do anything you want, can’t you?

Is this really the time for that?

Jaakuna didn’t hear Belias - or at least he chose not to. Instead, he was deadlocked on Keiran who was sitting on the ground not saying a single word. If she could make him do that, think of all of the fun and creative things they - erm, she - could make him do. Bark like a dog. Roll over. Spank his ass. “Oh, yes, this will work out just fine,” Jaakuna was snickering to himself, staring at Keiran wil evil intentions.

WILL YOU FOCUS! Suddenly Belias snapped at Jaakuna.

The blonde scowled as he would see Emiri and she suddenly changed clothes. “Wait, what happened to your outfit?” He asked, completely out of the loop.

Had you been paying any attention, you would have heard her say that she can still use her dark magicks. So, Mr. Genius, she might be able to use that spell that my younger brother had used on you to poof you to his castle.

Oh. That’s why. “Well, I guess it’s worth a shot.” Jaakuna simply shrugged, “just don’t kill us before we have a chance to talk about...things.” Jaakuna casually told Emiri, vaguing referring to...something.

And just as they would prepare to do the spell, as Jaakuna would see Emiri prepare it -or at least look at him as she prepared herself for the preparation for it, there suddenly came a wave of unstable mist that Jaakuna would recognize all too well. It was Zodiark. He must’ve been gone from the castle for some time, because he hadn’t sensed that mist for the entire time he was here. “Yeah, might want to hurry up. No pressure or anything, but if our generous host catches on, we’re dead,” Jaakuna said as light-hearted as he could, “still love you~

"I just got here, how would I know that?" Grant couldn't help but defend himself against Shinto's claim, though once Savayna found her footing, he would turn his own attention back to his unconscious brother. He knelt down, shaking his shoulder. "Lorenzo, get up. Time to go."

Lorenzo let out a whine. "Everything huuuuuuurts..." He whimpered, his eyes still closed. "Do your bro a solid and carry me, please."

"No."

"Nadeline, help your father, he's getting old and can't really seem to move right now!" Lorenzo called for his daughter. Shion shook her head, walking over to Lorenzo. Holding her foot back, he let out a yelp as she gave him a swift kick. He leaped up, fuming. "HEY! THAT ACTUALLY HURT--oh I can stand. Thanks Sharon!"

Nadeline let out a sigh, shaking her head. "Her name is Shion, Father. Out with one problem, in with the rest of them...I do hope His Eminence is gracious enough to...let us stay...somewhere..." He voice trailed off as she was reminded of the destruction around them. Clapping her hands together, she regained her cheerfulness. "Well then! Aloa, Vlyn, if you would accompany me, I do think I could go for some tea, and Roman knows just which one I like."

Oh yeah, that was Zodiark alright. Emiri bit her lip, catching Keiran's equally nervous look. Was he sweating? He was. Not that she blamed him, but if the pressure wasn't on before, it certainly was now. The black haired man looked like he was about to cry, though as he caught Emiri's eye, he quickly looked away. "Ah...in theory you shouldbe able to pinpoint Jaakuna's Mist trail...though it would help if you had some sort of point to return to...like some kind of magicks you had cast," He muttered, clearly unable to hide his shaking. "Well, at least if you fail, I'm hoping my death will be swift. It'll probably be excrutiating, though."

Okay, after this she was going to beat both of them up. Seriously, as if she didn't have enough pressure on her. She turned her gaze to her beloved, forcing a smile. "If by things you mean me punching you in the face repeatedly, then yes, darling, now let me focus." Her voice was sickeningly sweet as she threatened Jaakuna. As she concentrated, her own magicks began to spin around them as she tried to think. It was easy enough to follow Jaakuna's fiery trail, she had already guessed it would be back to Archades.

The floor around them darkened, and it was as if the floor itself had given way. Emiri let out a shout as the three of them would fall, eclipsed by darkness.

Grant nearly fell over as Lorenzo leaned on him though he would unwittingly end up helping Lorenzo walk anyway. Shion looked back towards the horizon, squinting at something in the distance. What was that strange Mist? The darkness on her arm seemed to spike out, alarming the nearby Grant and Lorenzo, the latter of which actually shouted out in alarm. Shion looked at her arm curiously, though she held it out, and to everyone's surprise, it lifted itself from her skin, returning it to its usual paleness. It formed a circle above her, to which she rather quickly stepped away from, only to find three bodies rain down from it. First fell Jaakuna, then Keiran, then Emiri, who would land on top of her new pet.

"Goodness, you're a lot heavier than you look," Keiran mumbled as he lay on his stomach, Emiri having landed on his back.

"This is all muscle!" She retorted, slightly embarassed.

"Nah...it's all clearly on that fat bottom--AH!" Clearly annoyed, she grabbed his hair and started pulling it. "AH! STOP! STOP!"

Nadeline was incredulous, her hands over her mouth. "Is...is that you, Emiri? And Jaakuna--I thought Zodiark took you--YOU!" Her eyes landed on Keiran, and she quickly brandished her rapier, furious.

While he had a few thoughts and things that he was going to say, Jaakuna became very tightlipped as Emiri unsubtly threatened to whack him a few good times if he didn’t shut up and let her focus. Somehow, he had become just as fearful of her wrath as Keiran did. The silverlining was that she couldn’t make him do anything right as she commanded it, but there was a certain...dominance that he caught in her eye that reminded him a lot of Justine. Maybe he was just overthinking it, but perhaps not.

Shrugging at that thought, Jaakuna would simply let Emiri do what she seemed so focused on doing. As he would observe, he noticed that dark magicks started to gather around them; it was a slow build. Mist centering around Emiri, then drawing from Jaakuna. He felt a slight pinch from all around his body...well it didn’t feel like just a pinch, but rather something close to getting the chills - much like to how Savayna once sent a wave of icy magick his way after he refused to pay for dinner on their fifth date. It felt like that, just less chilly.

Eventually, the mist would then surround them in a dark field. The sight of the room that they were in slowly disappearing as the only thing that Jaakuna saw was darkness. And then, as if in the next moment, Jaakuna felt that familiar feeling he did when Zodiark had warped him from Archades. It felt like he was travelling through a wormhole where he was going so fast and traveling so many miles in so little time that his insides tossed and turned, and before Jaakuna even realized it, his body was being put through the ringer and had slammed on the hard, cold ground covered in rock and gravel.

Ou--” Before he would even get to react to it, he felt the weight of Keiran crush his lower back, causing him to groan loudly and then Emiri landed on both of them, resulting in an even louder grunt. It was, for just a few moments, that Jaakuna was seeing stars, or at least those who lived in the stars. There was every Esper minus Zodiark all going around in a circle like a merry-go-round.

Though it would take him a few, long moments to snap out of it, Jaakuna would indeed get out of the trance as he felt Keiran struggle to get off of him. The boots that the Zodiark spawn had on dug deep into his back, causing Jaakuna to yell out. “Watch it, will ya!?” Jaakuna snarled angrily at Keiran, giving him an angry glare. It wasn’t until he would look around that he realized where he was. “Wait...this isn’t that death room. She did it!” Jaakuna yelled out, followed by an ecstatic cheer. He jumped around, hugging Emiri so tightly that he felt a button or two on her dress pop.

Jaakuna?!” Savayna suddenly said, causing Jaakuna to let go of Emiri. “You fucking asshole! Where have you been?!” She yelled at him, almost ready to clobber him.

As he went to face Savayna, Jaakuna turned around. He noticed a lot of familiar faces. Though, not all of them were smiles. Specifically, he noticed Nadeline who had a quite familiar look of anger on her face. That was a look that he saw a few times when he really angered her. Or whenever Savayna would egg her on just a bit too far. It only took Jaakuna a brief moment to realize who exactly she was looking at.

Nadeline…” Jaakuna slowly said, knowing full well what she was thinking. “Now, before you do anything rash…

Too late. She had taken to a charge. Keiran, apparently had readied himself for defense. Jaakuna scrambled to intercept, which thankfully he was able to. His right fist went aflame of gold and red as Nadeline’s rapier would collide with it, causing a brief explosion of light and fire magick, colors of white and red mixing with brilliant orange.

Of all the--rash?! You telling me not to do anything rash, when the very spawn of the enemy appears before me! Did your trip cost you what little brain cells you had left in your head?!” Nadeline barked at him, waving her rapier around. “Have you realized what has happened? Have you any idea of the consequences--

Naddie, it’s fine,” Emiri interrupted her, trying to avoid Nadeline’s flailing as she approached her. “I’ve got him under my thumb now.

Nadeline’s eyes widened in disbelief as the realization hit her. As Emiri smiled, it suddenly occurred to her that she was here. Gone was the once murderous look in her eye, and that lovely smile was in its place. Placing her rapier back on her belt, she approached Emiri, though she ended up pulling her into a tight hug.

What a relief,” Jaakuna’s flaming fist went back to normal and he let out a loud, thankful sigh. He couldn’t bear it if he had to fight another one of his friends today. God forbid he actually win against Nadeline, which seemed very unlikely. He would never tell anyone this, but she’s actually quite strong. From what he felt as her rapier and his fist collided, she had an overwhelming increase to her magick. If he were betting right now, he’d say that Ultima’s seal was unlocked.

It’s really you, right?” Nadeline asked, her voice muffled in Emiri’s hair. “It is, isn’t it?

Hold on a sec, how did you guys even end up here anyway?” Lorenzo couldn’t help but ask. “We saw Zodiark take Jaakie away.

Yeah and now I’m back,” Jaakuna stated rather bluntly, feeling weary. “I’ll be glad to tell you the entire story, but perhaps after I get some grub in my--” Jaakuna looked around and noticed his entire homeland was in ruin. “What in the holy graces of Ultima’s Tits happened here..?” Jaakuna looked to everyone for an answer.

Grant opened his mouth to respond, though he wasn’t sure where to start. Lorenzo looked at him, curious, though Grant seemed to have found his wordings as he motioned to Nadeline. “We--no, Nadeline fought against Zodiark. Briefly...although before that…” His voice trailed off as he looked at Savayna, though he just as quickly looked away from her.

Shion, who had been silent until now, disapproved of the run arounds. “Seeing your unconscious body as a result of your conflict with Hamut was too much for the ice Queen,” She said bluntly, like ripping a bandaid off. “Mateus’ Seal was unlocked. She and I clashed. Zodiark appeared. Ultima’s Seal was unlocked. He and Nadeline clashed. Zeromus’ Seal was unlocked. He left. You came. The end.

It’s...slightly more complex than that, but...that does seem to be the gist of things.” Nadeline reluctantly agreed.

That explains why he didn’t greet me when he warped me from here.” Jaakuna said, looking to Emiri, “I also guess that explains why he didn’t interrupt our fight--” Jaakuna suddenly looked towards Emiri’s direction, seeing the look on her face.

Keiran sighed, putting his elbow on her shoulder as he used her for support. “The good thing is that neither one of you were able to actually hurt one another. I have to admit, I was impressed by those little sparks of yours, Darcone,” He said as he pinched Emiri’s cheek, clearly trying to get that look off her face.

I wonder how he’ll react when he sees we’re gone,” Emiri said as she swatted away Keiran’s hand.

I’m more curious to know how the Seed is now under your control,” Shion mused out loud.

We made a contract. He lost.” Emiri couldn’t help but give Shion a coy smile, though it faded as Shion’s eyes sharpened.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this, too, is a part of his plan,” Shion noted.

Jaakuna shrugged, “I don’t think he would want his underlings becoming our personal slaves,” Jaakuna just had a thought, but as he would, he saw a few looks being shot his way. “What?

You’re full of shit, that’s what.” Savayna nastily said.

You don’t believe me and I understand that. Maybe a little demonstration is in order,” Jaakuna looked towards Emiri then to Keiran as he grinned a grin with evil intentions, “oh dearest, give our wonderful friends some proof of this contract.

Emiri nodded, looking Keiran right in the eye. “I’d like something to sit on,” She stated, snapping her fingers. He let out a sigh, going down on all fours, letting out a grunt as Emiri would sit on his back. “How refreshing, I was feeling a little tired.” She stated happily, ignoring Keiran’s less than pleased expression.

I’d say you shouldn’t worry too much, but...Emiri is a bit...vengeful,” He informed Keiran, who shot Grant a glare.

As Jaakuna would look on, he couldn’t help but burst out into laughter, almost falling to the ground at the sight of Keiran being Emiri’s personal stool. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Nadeline rolled her eyes, shaking her head at Jaakuna. “If you’ve had enough, we should get back to your brother and make sure he is safe,” She told him, frowning.

Why do you care about Vincent? He’s somewhere taking care of my father, isn’t he?” Jaakuna thought, placing his thumb and index finger on his chin as if contemplating about it for real.

The princess threw her arms up in frustration, though Grant felt he should help her out. “Roman. Not Vincent.” He corrected him.

Ah yes, that makes more sense than Vincent.” Jaakuna said, eyes closed as he nodded.

Nadeline resisted the urge to hit him, though it seemed she had had enough of...everything. For now. Still, as she watched Emiri get off Keiran and go back to Jaakuna, she seemed satisfied. She looked so...happy. She conceded, waving for the group to follow as she decided to take the lead.

The Aerodome was much calmer than Lorenzo had anticipated. Soldiers ran past them without so much as a second glance--so much for the 'Rozarrian traitors' that Hamut spoke of. Still, as uneventful as the walk was, he couldn't help but notice the still-tense air around them. The group itself was relatively quiet, with the exception of a few comments and minor jabs at Keiran's expense, and once they had reached their destination, all was quiet once more. He motioned to Grant that he would be able to walk on his own, despite every aching bone in his body telling him otherwise. He joined Nadeline at the front of the group, though he would pat her head as an Archadian soldier approached them.

Nadeline ignored her father's gesture as she would decide to inquire, "I am Nadeline Lenore of Rozarria. I wish to speak with His Grace at once," Despite it being more of a plea, it came off more as an order.

"We have been expecting your arrival, Highness. Emperor Roman made it clear you would arrive, though..." He seemed hesitant at the size of the group. Lorenzo grinned at the soldier, who seemed to get the hint. "As we are currently in the process of evacuating the citizenry following the destruction of the Royal Palace, the Aerodome's VIP Lounge is serving as our Emperor's temporary place of operations. If you would follow me, then."

Aloa seemed to be listening in on the soldiers' passing conversations as they made their way to the lounge, her ear twitching slightly. Grant took notice, giving her a curious look. "Something troubles you?" He asked her.

"It would seem the soldiers search for Hamut," She stated. "Roman's orders. Despite his gentleness, he has a way with words. Archadia seems to be in a state of chaos...though he holds the reins well. Was this also Hamut's intent?"

"His intent was war," Lorenzo reminded Aloa. "He made that abundantly clear to us."

Emiri frowned, though the conversation seemed to be put on hold as they had arrived at a rather elegant looking door. Despite there being a desk for a receptionist, it was occupied instead by another Archadian soldier. As the doors opened, it was obvious that the lounge was meant for those who had the gil to pay for it. The walls were adorned with numerous photos of the world's best sightseeing, though of course the larger ones were of Archadian sights. A bar was off to the side, its walls filled to the brim with exotic liquors and around four different bartenders at the ready, though from the looks of things they had been preparing tea instead with several maids assisting them. Numerous seating with the finest cloths weaved into them littered the area, with a fair amount of plants adding some finer touches to the decorations. A few closed doors likely lead to bathrooms, although it seemed there was a small infirmary as well.

Even then, a separate area was roped off, with two more soldiers at guard before a makeshift curtain. Lorenzo couldn't help but snicker as they cast him confused looks--he, as well as Shinto and a few others still had their Archadian armor on, or at least what was left of it. "Emperor Roman is up ahead, he should be out shortly," The soldier stated. "Feel free to use the facilities as you please."

"Thank you," Nadeline replied, unfazed by the luxury as usual, though she would invite herself to have a seat on the couch, crossing her legs daintily. Lorenzo was her polar opposite, throwing himself down, limbs sprawled as he let himself sink into the comfort. "Have some dignity, won't you?" She asked him.

"My back is killing me! It's a toughie, keeping up with you kids," He whined.

Grant rolled his eyes, deciding to sit next to his brother, though of course he was more poised, putting Lorenzo to shame with his posture. "You're not even forty yet. What will you do in another twenty years?" He asked.

Lorenzo grinned again, sitting up. "Easy, ol' Watson will take care of me! That's what son-in-laws are for, anyway!"

Nadeline looked away in shame, her expression a troubled one. It was embarrassing to admit, but it was only then that Emiri realized Wesley was nowhere to be found. No wonder things had gotten so comical--Wesley was one of the few voices of reason. "Where is Wesley? Did he decide to stay in Dalmasca?" She couldn't help but ask, though she seemed to regret asking as she saw the expression on Nadeline's face.

Taking pity on her princess, Aloa would answer, "He stays in his castle, though not by choice. Seeing his brother again seemed to be a shock too great for him," She said.

This time Grant was surprised, though now he understood Zodiark's words. "Zodiark did mention something like that happening...though we don't know why," He said slowly.

Letting out a huff, Nadeline crossed her arms. "It was my fault, alright? I had heard about Sylvester from Isabella, though when I went to inquire about it, I was taken by some thugs into what looked to be one of the Brotherhood's strongholds. They brought Sylvester to me, and we tried to escape...though it seemed he was corrupted, or possessed? I don't know, it happened very quickly, and somehow Wesley found me, but when he realized who it was--he just..." Her words were scattered and unclear as she spoke, her haste glossing over details. "Wesley is in a coma and it's because of me. Satisfied?"

"I'm--I'm sorry, I didn't know anything like that happened," Emiri apologized. "Things are still...kind of fuzzy, I don't remember everything as clear as I should."

"None of us knew what happened. I was the one that brought him up," Lorenzo said, giving Nadeline a more serious look. "If you're going to get mad at someone, make sure it's the right person."

"I am angry with the right person. It's my own fault it happened!" Nadeline said, refusing to look any of them in the eye as she stared down at her own legs. "I had unlocked my Seal at the Westersand, I thought I could handle anything that came my way. My arrogance cost me my fiance's sanity."

The journey through the destruction that had been caused not only by the battles that Hamut had been apart of but as well as the battles that raged on with Zodiark, it was amazing that some of the buildings remained intact. Though others had seen better days, it was amazing that the hospitals and some of the major inns in Archades were still habitable. That was a good thing because those who had their homes destroyed and/or might have been injured needed a place to take refuge. Still, it was a hard sight to take in. So many people suffering. So many people lost their homes. Lost their businesses. Some might've also lost their families. It was still too early to tell.

It truly didn't sit well with Jaakuna as he and the others found their way through the main streets and found hidden pathways(thanks to Jaakuna and Savayna's guidance), they were able to make it to the Aerodome, which seemed to be occupied by soldiers. For a moment, Jaakuna thought that maybe he would be arrested since the last time he was here, there were soldiers looking for him on the order of his grandfather. However, as it would appear, word had gotten to them that he was the one responsible for this great city's destruction and that Roman had taken reigns as he had been doing before the temporary Military Coup of Archadia.

After a brief waiting period of confirming who they were, the Archadian Soldiers allowed Jaakuna and friends into the VIP section of the Aerodome. According to the receptionist, the VIP section was currently occupied by Roman. Jaakuna couldn't help but mutter something. "That clever bastard,"

"Hm?" Savayna looked towards Jaakuna as they were being brought to the VIP Section.

"Oh, it's nothing." he waved away her inquiry as he looked forward. They soon arrived at the VIP waiting area.

As everyone had taken their respective place on the assortment of couches, Jaakuna saw that Lorenzo had the right idea, so he also would plop on the couch without any regard to save the face of dignity or any of that. He simply lounged about, sighing quite happily. The couch was like a godsend. After all of the fights, he had been apart of today, from fighting Hamut to nearly dying and then havign to deal with his then-evil girlfriend, laying down and relaxing was soemthing that Jaakuna would welcome with open arms and legs. though, if he was to complain, his open stomach could shut up any time now.

Waiting for Roman to grant them all permission to finally join him, the others would take the time to just enjoy the reprieve before they would have to tackle the more pressing matters with Roman. Though there seemed that there would be no rest for the wicked, for Grant, the Ever-Masochist of the group, just had to bring the subject of Wesley up, though it was because of Lorenzo, but Jaakuna found it easier to blame Grant because he likes Lorenzo too damn much to place any fault on him.

And so Nadeline would reveal the tale of why Wesley hadn't shown up with her. Truth be told, he wasn't all that surprised. The only thing he had a bit of shock to was that how Wesley was in a coma. He wasn't any stranger to finding out things about your brother. That was probably something that he and Wesley knew more than anyone, but to hear that Wesley's long-lost brother was, in fact, alive, made him feel shitty and gave him the extra drive to do something for Wesley.

"Right, so you're to blame because you aren't a fortune teller? Naddie, I know you want to think you're to blame, but seriously? I thought you had more dignity than that" Jaakuna sat up, sighing. "If you really want someone to blame, then look no further~" Jaakuna pointed to himself. "I was the one who brought Zodiark into our lives. All of the terrible shit that has happened to us ever since that first trip to Giruvegan is all my fault. So, for the love of all that is holy, stop shitting on yourself when all you did was do your best to protect Wesley." Jaakuna would say, sounding almost annoyed. "That goes double for everyone here. Stop fucking playing the blame game on yourselves. But if you must, throw it all my way because I'm growing weary of hearing my friends say they're in the wrong when that's the furthest from the fucking truth."

The room was silent for a moment. Jaakuna was right, but at the moment, it didn't make anyone feel better. Keiran watched each person curiously, though for once, he was completely quiet. Part of it was because it wasn't like he had anything useful to add to the conversation. The other, bigger part was if he said the wrong thing, he was certain Emiri would punish him. He decided to take a seat on the floor, hands on his knees. He caught Shion staring at him, and honestly, her look gave him the absolute chills. He froze up as she would walk over to him, unsure of what she was going to say.

She gave him a look, though she would instead look at Jaakuna. "We are weak creatures who always look to other sources for power. Our actions also have consequences--what is important is not what has been done, but what you will do about it. Will you succumb to your despair, or will you rise above it?" She stated, though she would walk over to where the Rozarrian family sat, surprising nearly everyone as she would sit next to Grant.

Gods help me. He sat up rather nervously. Lorenzo took a look at Shion, letting out a low whistle. "And she decides to mingle with those beneath her station! What a lady," He teased.

Shion ignored him, though she would point to something behind him. The curtains had opened, a very annoyed Reia stepping out. Lorenzo let out a squee, immediately standing up and jumping over the couch. He held out his arms as he ran over to his sister, but at the last moment she would sidestep him, causing him to crash into the wall. "Ah, you're all alive. And...there's more of you," She noted the size of the group.

"Now, now, it's been a long day, my dear Reia. Let's be glad we've all reunited once more," Roman added cheerfully as he would step out.

Grant let out a sigh of relief. "I'm glad you're both safe," He said, probably the understatement of the century.

"And we have my little brother to thank for that! He rescued my useless self from the dungeons. I do sincerely apologize for the trouble~" Roman chuckled as he would have a seat, inviting Reia to sit as well. She looked over at Shion, who sat next to Grant. The pair stared at one another for a moment, though Reia would concede, sitting between Shion and Roman. Shion raised her eyebrows, though she said nothing. Reia shrugged, clearly not in the mood to fight over a seat of all things. "We're all lucky to have such beautiful women accompanying us, no?" He smiled.

Lorenzo got back up, retaking his original seat. "Good to see you alright, Ronald!" He grinned, ignoring Nadeline's exasperated grumble.

Roman nodded. "I do have some good news and bad news. The bad news being that Archades is in a state of emergency due to my grandfather's actions, though the soldiers are out to search for him as we speak. Rest assured, his actions were not in our intention. The attack on Stigma must have spurred him to action, though I cannot say for sure what his ultimate goal was."

"He made it abundantly clear that he wanted domination over my country," Reia scoffed. "He intercepted Jackson's--Jaakuna's message to Roman, and made it clear that despite not having any solid proof of the treaty, he clearly didn't want it to happen."

Emiri looked over at Grant, who nodded. "But we're all here now, aren't we? Which means it can continue, right?" He asked.

The air was tense for a few, long moments. Hardly anything was being said. Maybe it was better that way. After all, Jaakuna spoke the truth. Everyone knew it. Nothing they said to counter it would make it any less true. Instead, as silence would break, Shion simply chimed in, stating that nothing can change what has already happened, but going forward is what they all must focus on. In that moment - just for half of that moment - everyone seemed to soak in her words like a sponge and thought long and hard about what she said.

Just as one of the members of the large group would open their mouth(it was Jaakuna), in came Roman and Reia. “What impeccable timing you have, brother.” Jaakuna would say instead of responding to Shion’s remarks.

Roman began by stating that he’s here today because of Jaakuna. As he would, Jaakuna would chuckle. “A Darcone has to sit at the Emperor’s table. Since Vincent is busy being Daddy’s Little Helper and our grandfather is definitely not fit to rule, I couldn’t let you rot in that cell.” Jaakuna did his best to hide that he actually cared for his dear brother and didn’t want him to die in those cells. Though, he wasn’t the type to show such feelings without there being a good reason. Letting his brother know that wasn’t such a reason.

A brief moment of silence passed as Roman would very subtly change the course of the conversation onto some good and bad news he had. The bad of it was that Archades was pretty much fucked in its infrastructure. Though, the silver lining was that no one but Hamut was responsible and that they were doing their best to locate him.

So, no word on where he is?” Savayna inquired.

Of course, Roman would shrug and Jaakuna spent the entire time thinking about that. As hard as he tried, the memory of where Hamut went after their battle was still very much hazy and it was as if there was a block of sorts. Each time he tried to think back to that moment where their battle had made a turning point, Jaakuna felt a mental shock just enough to jolt him several paces away from that memory. Something definitely happened to him - to his mind.

As Jaakuna would reach out to Belias, inside his mind, he was transported to what looked like the Tomb of Raithwall. It was fitting since that’s where Jaakuna secured Belias in the first place. Plus, of the conversations they’ve had about his inner world, Belias often alluded to how he was fond of the tomb. It brought him closer to his former master.

Before you ask, noI don’t know what happened back there. Sadly, even my powers have a limit. Belias informed Jaakuna, already reading his mind.

Damn. I was sure you would be able to figure out something using your Esper mojo.

Belias sighed at Jaakuna’s term for the Esper magick. It’s troubling to say the least. I can remember everything leading up to the point of that strange light that came from him, but after that, the only thing I remember is you being blasted and us remaining unconscious until my little brother awoke us.

Thinking about that, Jaakuna’s mind came back to the physical world of Ivalice and he seemed to miss a huge conversation. In fact, it seemed as though everyone was looking at him. “What?

Did you not hear anything that Grant or Reia said?

Of course I did.

Good, then you agree.

Uh, sure.

Idiot.

Savayna shook her head and lightly bonked Jaakuna on the head. He, again, looked at her with a puzzled look. It wasn’t until she explained it to him. “Get it now?

Of course. Yeah, I understand,” Jaakuna felt his head. For a light bonk, that sure hurt. “But anyways, I don’t see why we can’t continue the process of the treaty. Though, I’m not quite sure I’m the one who needs to be there. Even though it was my idea, I am not the Emperor of Archadia. As much as I would love to act on behalf of the Archadian Empire, it is not my place. Unless, of course, Roman authorises me being the temporary proxy, I cannot do it.” Jaakuna stated rather disappointingly. It was obvious to anyone who knew him that Jaakuna truly did want to be the one to sign the treaty along side Dalmasca’s current ruler, Cassandra Alexander and Rozarrian Empress, Reia Roselia.

"Well, as luck would have it, I would appreciate it if you would--what was that phrase again? 'Do me a solid', and go to Dalmasca in my stead." Roman stated, his fingers quoting the rather 'hip' saying. Lorenzo snickered, though he was quickly silenced as both Nadeline and Grant hit him. "As charming as Dalmasca is, I must stay and tend to my country to the best of my abilities. Calming my citizens and treating the wounded--as well as all the paperwork that accompanies it--is one of my priorities."

Lorenzo let out a laugh, grinning. "Ah, the joys of brotherhood! Where men need not communicate in order to understand one another!" He nudged Grant happily. "It reminds me a lot of me and Grant!"

"Except I'm the one always having to clean up your messes. So no." Grant made it a point to prove Lorenzo wrong, raising his eyebrows.

"Hey, I saved your sorry ass just moments ago!"

"There was that time you forgot to send those papers to Rabanastre despite swearing to Reia that you sent them--"

"You damned liar." Reia hissed, her glare so heated she looked ready to strangle Lorenzo.

"Is this also the right time to mention the one time I covered you when all the Barons of the outer Rozarrian territories came and you decided to goof off in your workshop?"

"Father, the Baron of Calyx was very upset you weren't there! That was when he wanted to discuss the prospect of marrying his son to me," Nadeline gasped, her eyes wide.

"Well, that's a moot point now!"

The family continued bickering, much to Shion's dismay. She had definitely chosen poorly now that she was caught in the middle of the argument, though she wasn't sure whether she should get up or yell at them to stop. She chose the former, quietly standing and walking over to Aloa. "Another favor? My, aren't we asking for it all?" She said, turning her cheek towards her.

"Not another, but rather picking up where we left off," She reminded her, referring to their original conversation in Stigma. "Our next goal should be Wesley's awakening. However...there is another thing I am concerned about. I want to be absolutely sure before I can send them to Zodiark. At the very least buy a little time...

Vlyn frowned, though he seemed to understand. "I guess we could always go ahead. No harm in checking, right?" He asked Aloa.

"Ah, he learns! The gods smile upon us today," Aloa sighed, though the three of them nodding, with the viera departing first.

Shion watched them, though she turned back to see Lorenzo still fighting with Reia and Grant. She turned her attention instead to Jaakuna, though once again, she would take a good, long look at Keiran. His expression was mostly neutral, not seeming to have any opinion on anything. A spectator and nothing more--it was a pitiful life. Emiri seemed to have caught the look of pity on her face, and she would look at Keiran as well. "I can't say I don't like the attention, but I'm getting worried the two of you are up to something," He couldn't help but state, looking between Shion and Emiri.

"My apologies," Shion waved away her concern, though placed a hand on her hip. "It's the first time I have seen something like this in person. They used to share stories of something like this when I was a child...the hero tricking the demon into doing as he commanded. I suppose all legends must start somewhere."

"A deal is a deal."

"Indeed," She would finally turn her attention to Jaakuna, though she seemed to be thinking of choosing her words. "It would seem I had no need to warn you. Once again, you've gone out of your way for love. But as promised, I will return the favor. I must be off now, I suppose I felt the need to bid you farewell." She paused for a moment, looking up at the ceiling. Emiri stared, confused, though it then hit her that Shion probably wasn't used to goodbyes. "Finding you won't be an issue, we will meet again. And when we do, we will go to him. Until then, I suggest that you wrap up any other affairs you have."

Jaakuna let out a sigh. How was it that a former exile from his homeland, on again, off again sky pirate ended in thei kind of situation? The gods sure had a twisted sense of humor. Taking this reckless fool and placing him in situation after situation that constantly pushed him closer and closer to acting on behalf of his country -the country that once viewed him as a murderer and a traitor. This very same country that he swore he would never return to was now the very country that he couldn’t turn his back on.

While he soaked that in, the Archadian Prince looked around and saw his friends(and their family) bicker amongst themselves, arguing about something involving a prince of some sort. Ignoring that, Jaakuna would then turn his attention to first his dearly beloved, seeing her as annoyed as Shion was with the disgraceful squabbling between Lorenzo and his siblings. Though as that would happen, Shion seemed to be intrigued about Keiran’s predicament.

After a quick exchange between Shion and Keiran, the former would turn her attention to the Archadian Prince as she noted how he went all out in the name of love and the one he portrays that love to. Quickly, he looked to Emiri as Shion mentioned she was about to do the same. Smiling, Jaakuna looked back at her. “Be sure to give my best to Francis,” Jaakuna chuckled as he recalled hearing from Francis a while back about how he and Shion have become a thing.

The woman offered little in expression, though perhaps it was because of the lack of expression that it was obvious she was irked at Jaakuna's response. She let out a sigh, her palm to her forehead in clear exasperation. Emiri couldn't hide her amusement at Shion--Jaakuna had an effect on her, whether she wanted to admit it or not. Was she blushing? Well, not how normal people did, though Emiri swore she saw Shion's cheeks go ever so slightly pink. Even she would get embarrassed, it seemed, though she nudged Jaakuna, making sure he knew not to go too far with it.

"That is none of your concern," She huffed in annoyance, dropping her hand.

"It's nice, isn't it?" Emiri asked. "I hope you two are happy together." Shion didn't respond, instead choosing to take her leave. Emiri looked instead at Jaakuna, smiling. "I know I am."
