Name: Jason O'Connor

Age: 30

Height: 5'11

Weight:180

Equipment: 1.working flashlight with about 30 minutes of battery life left
2. lighter
3. Rucksack
4. two faced silver dollar
5. Small tent.

Weapons:

1. Bowie knife
2. Ice pick
3. Colt M1911 A1 (.45 ACP)
4. Machete.

Previous Occupation: Master Sergeant, United States Marine Corps.

Appearance:

Bio:
Born in rural South Carolina just outside Newberry on May 22, 1984, Jason was the only child of an insurance salesman and a waitress. His parents died when he was two, and he was raised by his grandmother.

At age 18, Jason signed up with the Marines, and shipped out to Parris Island. Upon graduation, he was shipped out to Afghanistan for two tours before returning to Camp LeJeune, where he specialized in reconnaissance and was reassigned to the 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, where again, he was shipped out to the war on terror.

Several years pass, until five months prior to the outbreak. Jason and his team are about to mount a limited raid on a suspected terrorist's home when shit hit the fan. The suspect had protection from a local warlord, intel that H.Q. failed to relay before mounting the raid. Regardless of the new information, Jason and his team decided to continue with their objective of target acquisition and rendition. Unfortunately one of the enemy threw out a frag grenade. Miraculously, Jason wasn't killed by it, though he did lose all function in his left ear, and the high-pitched whine that accompanies an explosion would be present in his right for the rest of his life, albeit only in total silence. [1]

The team was extracted, and Jason was sent to a military hospital where upon completion of his treatment he was medically discharged and sent back to Newberry, South Carolina. One month later, the outbreak started, and Jason had to shoot his own grandmother, something he still hasn't fully come to terms with. Feeling that he owed it to his grandmother to survive this nightmare, he started heading north, where he will come across a settlement.....

NOTES: 1: I made his hearing problems match mine except I wear a cochlear implant on my right and otherwise I'm totally deaf. I've never been near an explosion however. So I don't know where the ringing came from(although unlike my character it's there all the time) and I've had hearing problems since birth

I am perfectly aware of the limitations of using an AK-74, and actually intended for that to nerf my character a bit. Plus, I'm going more along the route of great gunsmith, average shooter. His combat abilities don't go much farther than being a scout or recon type person, and even then he prefers to occupy his time improving the group's weapons and such.

DeathStroke we really don't want anyone from military/PMC/SAS/ABR/KGB/ETC. I tried telling you this, please, I can understand why you'd want one but if we have an ex-military guy still in the prime of his life as part of the group then why would we ever send other people away on missions? As I said with the gunsmith, there always needs to be a trade off, if it were me I'd make him a retired veterin in his late 60s, lots of gun experience, not much physical endurance. If you really want to be a part of this RP then please revise your character.

Okay Hatter an AK-74 it is but as I said "No Full Autos"
First off Full Auto is an ammo waster
Second spray an pray is a poor method for taking down the Walkers
Third, as I attended my Uncle's GM courses I must warn that his theory of weapons in game would result in sending the mother of all herds after you and or the Bad humans having 7Xs as many full auto weapons

Now on to Deathstroke
"Warning" my Uncle employs Marines in his security company and he himself served in the SAS so respect the service an try not to play the Rambo Marine because they don't exist except in Hollywood.
To me a Marine is the consummate professional and the NCOs are the most stable of men you'll ever meet.

All that said then I feel I must now begin to stress a few facts in the world our characters live.

First : Fuel is becoming uber scarce; Think Mad Max The Road Warrior" the hunt for fuel is difficult and dangerous.

Second : As it has been two years living humans are also becoming scarce so the Herds are desperate to find you all. They gotta get their munch on.

Third : there are now basically three types of living humans in the world.

The Survivors- this type can range from the almost peacenik vegans to the full blown "Keep yer distance we got nothing for you here" You know the Doomsday Prepers.
They just want to live and mostly try not to go out of their way to mess with other living humans.

The Warlords- this type also comes in various shades of ideology from the brutal dictator who enslaves the weak to the inspired Demagogue who is either religious or Fanatic in their goals but in any of these cases they are the living predators and to be avoided.

The Wacks- Cannibals and Feral humans who've become something that is almost or worse than the walkers.

Okay I could ramble on an on for pages but think that's enough for now.

Questions ?

It should be safe to assume that the survivors at homestead have a decent amount of fuel stored, enough to start the trip to Canada at least, seeing as they'd likely use horses instead of cars.

Big Farms often have large stores of different fuels stored on property and many are even into bio fuel conversion, that's why they'd become targets of Raiders

And as for the Route the party will take and their method of travel I was hoping once we figure out who's going then we could have an actual interaction to make the decisions we need make.

Doc's Hospital I'd think would become the focal point of that group because she's openly for heading north
Karen is a small woman but I'd have to say that she's demonstrated a force of will that might surprise any who first meet her.
She's as expected from a medical professional Intelligent and decisive and while she's not a combat type she has made choices since coming to Homestead that few others would care to make.
(She likely has ended as humanly as she was able several who's injuries threatened to turn them before they turned)

Put it this way. If this was a film, and your part would be played by Bruce willis or Tom Cruise then it's probably not going to be accepted...

As interested in guns as your character may be, nothing in your post made even the slightest bit of sense to me.... Not criticising, I'm just saying that I hardly know anything about guns.... (Hatters post, that is)

Trust me, I respect the service, and my dad is actually a former Marine. He got out shortly after I was born, and if I was able, that's the branch I would join. The Rambo marine is almost an insult, sometimes.

My character is haunted by the decisions he's had to make to survive . He's a catholic so he's also troubled by what the world has turned into. I'd say he's more of a survivor than anything else.

Okay I'm cool with it but I've seen too many people play Marines that would have never completed the training due to mental deficiencies
Marines are a product of tradition, dedication and experience

I think it would be boring to play a military player or marine but that's just me.

On another note I was thinking that maybe we could have a horde of walkers come through The Homestead. Not a huge dramatic thing like the place is no longer livable, but something more like one fence got torn down, and maybe a possibility of a death. Just thinking it could add more drama and help influence some peoples choices on whether to stay or go.

There is a trade off: his hearing.

In my opinion it's not really much of a trade off I mean if you were to list his skills it'd probably be something like:
Excellent stealth abilities
Proficiency in both CQC and firearns
Great perception with his eyes to make up for the lack of perfect hearing
Leadership and team work
Fitness and strength

To me at least that's not really equal to loss of hearing in just one ear. It's all about keeping a balanced game where all the characters have strengths and weaknesses, I just think having an ex forces guy who is still physically fit and relatively young with the only limitation being dodgy hearing and a guilty conscience is kind of OP compared to other characters.
