I'm bored.

I'm probably not the only one either.

School is kicking up for most, or work is becoming more demanding, either way I am sure there are at least two other skilled writers who are aiming to hold onto a story when life starts getting real again. My general concept was that I would find two skilled writers and we would all double, playing one female and one male as our main characters. As a huge disclaimer, you need to treat each role as a singular one, some people claim to give both roles attention but soon one is cleared favored. This can't happen here.

Why?

Well, we will all be interacting with each other.

I wish I could color code it but I don't think I can so here it goes:

The writers: A, B, C

The characters: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2

The paired (not necessarily romantic but that's how the story will begin, in pairs of two): A1 and B2, B1 and C2, C1 and A2.

I want this story to focus on relationships, be them romantic, friendship, rivalry, family, whatever. The great thing about three people doubling is up, is that is give us a lot of room to explore interactions between people and not leave someone out by mistake. While the story might start off with groups of two, it might turn into two groups of three, or a group of four and a group of two, who knows! I'm craving something with character development and so I'm hoping to find two people who feel the same way. We would RP in the Advanced section (not one on one, since there's three of us) and maybe down the line, we can add other people, though doubling for them won't be a requirement, but who knows. The point is, I want the three of us have fun and give ideas so we're all happy.

In terms of genres and settings, I want to leave it up for discussion. I know some people would rather know a setting and say yay/nay right away but I'm looking for people who can communicate well and have fun together.

Personally, I'm leaning towards fantasy, like a quest situation. Or possibly cyberpunk where we deal with online/offline situations similar to dot hack. (don't mention SAO, just don't...) Or something fandom related. I don't know. We could do something in the modern world. I did have an idea where we're in three different worlds and there's magic and stuff, or we could be on one world but in three different locations, interacting with the others minimally until a bigger purpose makes us all band together for some reason.

Like I said, I want people who can give their input so if you're interested, post some thoughts below. It's not first come first serve, but I'd like to kick this off sooner, rather than later. I'll decide who probably has similar interests and I can make us an OOC thread to talk further. Though this is for people who can be fairly active, a few posts a week, and plenty of OOC chatter! Lastly, you must be able to post from three to five paragraphs per role. And when it comes to keeping our pairs separate, we will use headers and breaks like the following:

character name/place

- - -

other character name/place

I would certainly be interested in this! I absolutely love fantasy (favourite genre really), so I would definitely up for that. I've never watched/played/read dot hack however it's something I've been interested in (my friend recommended SAO and I'm kind of like - Nope, no thank you). Really, I'm interested in all of the things you've suggested.
The three different worlds idea is certainly interesting because it would involve a reasonable amount of world creation and also if/when the smaller pairs meet up there could quite possibly be language barriers ect. and just tons of differences and confusion and stuff. Badly said, I know. Also there's the possibility of a pair of characters verging towards being more 'villains' than 'heroes.' Loads of options. Sorry, though, all my thoughts kind of suck at the moment

While everything is getting busy for me I'm also terribly bored and have been verging towards going to sleep very early because there is nothing much to do, what with one/two active roleplays. And character development... My all time love. Mostly. I've never had a roleplay long enough for it to happen but I did an RPG for about 6 sessions with a friend and the character I played had loads of development and now is my favourite character and, you know, I love characters who change.

Anyway, this all sounds awesome. Sorry for the slightly rambling text post though!

I'm really interested, as well! You had me at character development~ ;)

I'm always up for a good ol' fantasy quest; perhaps not at too high a setting, but I certainly wouldn't be against it. Lately, though, I've had a hankering for a more contemporary fantasy RP, so I'm most intrigued by your three different worlds/locations idea. Magic (or any other supernatural elements) in a modern setting is always fun; we can have secret societies or have it already integrated within the world and explore that. Cyberpunk isn't out of the question for me either, but I'm not the most experienced with the genre.

And I really like your idea of doubling up because it definitely allows for so many different dynamics (both within the pairs and the group). I actually can't decide which I like better, though: having the pairs completely unaffiliated with the others, or having them all interconnected in a six degrees of separation sort of way (the reveal would be cool, and I'm a fan of when things come full circle). There's just a lot you can do either way.

Hello!

So sorry about the delay, it was my mother's birthday and I was a bit busy with her the past few days.

Oh goodie, it sounds like three different worlds might be where we end up playing. I do like the idea of a pair becoming perhaps more antagonistic than heroic, then say, compared to the others. I had an idea about mirrors connecting the worlds. Say someone looks into a special mirror shard and sees them in their own world normally but from time to time could see themselves in one of the other worlds, with other people. It could be a way to transport to each one?

I think the idea of a fantasy, a cyberpunk/sci-fi, and then our modern world, might work out?

Of course we can decide if our roles are related or look similar or whatever, I think several options could take form here.

It's fine, don't worry about it

Three world definitely sounds like a go :) Yes, that would certainly be interesting - anti-heroes, more. It certainly works for development. Also the possibility that it's a different pair from the ones that they started in. So many possibilities. And I like the idea of mirrors! Some could know of these 'gates' aka mirrors and use them purposefully, while others don't and just stumble upon them? Loads of possibilities there. I'm getting more and more excited about this

Yeah, I think that would work. I'm also not too experienced in Cyberpunk (though I'd like to get more into it) but the three different worlds certainly sound great! I'm assuming by fantasy we're meaning medieval like times? There are loads of types of fantasy. It would be interesting to think up why there are these three separate, entirely different worlds

Certainly... especially if they start similar but verge in completely different routes

Yes, the characters should mix and match, different dynamics to explore and all.

In think with the mirrors, there could be some "mother" mirror of sorts that broke apart in all three words, thus our characters could have shards and if we wanted, NPCs could have shards or there could be a section or group dedicated to rebuilding their mirror or destroying it or using it for evil, which could totally be a possibility, depending on what we want to do.

In terms of fantasy, medieval would be in there too, we'd have to all be on the same page since some people have different ideas of what fantasy entails. For me, it pretty much means: dragons, princesses, magic spells, kingdoms, no real tech, etc.

I was thinking for the cyberpunk, it was be more high tech and deal with the possibility of perhaps (if we want) androids or at least mechanical body parts if needed for someone (ex: guy needs a hand, has a robotic hand). Or like virtual reality and possible space travel. Like fantasy, this can be as broad or as specific as we're all comfortable with and all understand.

Ooh, the mirrors idea is interesting! Mirrors are always a trusty way to construe parallel/different universes. Modern, fantasy, and sci-fi/cyberpunk just about covers everything, so I'm okay with those three worlds, too! :D

So what were the possible roles you were thinking of? I can think of one where would we essentially have the same female and male character, but each of us will be playing different versions of them. That could be interesting to explore (lots of parallels and foils and all that fun stuff), but we might also be slightly more limited with relationship dynamics (though not by a lot).

EDIT: Haha, we posted at the same time!

If we wanted some sort of clone (oh Orphan Black <3) situation, we could try that, or we could have differences in terms of hair or eye color, or similar appearance but with vastly different personalities. Or we could give them all something in common in which they could use the mirrors?

I can make an OOC in the Adv. section if we'd like to talk further, slide more ideas and stuff around.

Yup, mixing and matching will be fun

I like the 'mother' mirror idea! The characters could clash with each other over what they want to do and stuff, and it would add in the possibility of NPC factions working against/with the characters and the like

For me it's basically magic and no real tech as the key elements, then everything else can be there or not. Dragons, princesses, kingdoms and the like are definitely in my high fantasy picture though

Androids and mechanical body parts (possible cyborgs) would certainly be interesting. There's all sort of features you can explore with mechanical body parts - extra added features and such. A thought that just crossed my mind - weapons between worlds. For example if someone had a gun in the modern world, would it still work in the fantasy world? Those would be things we'd need to look at

So the same sort of starting template for female and male, adjusted to the worlds they're in? That could certainly be interesting, and they would all obviously develop into completely different people. And loads of fun stuff to explore xD If we went with a clone situation I think it would be funner to go with vastly different personalities and backgrounds - almost like they're long lost twins, but not. There's a lot to look into there

An OOC would probably be good! There's a lot to discuss
