The Vigilance is an advanced FSA, or Federation System Alliance, Chevalier-Class Battlecruiser. The Chevalier-Class ships are a new breed of space faring flotilla, capable of atmospheric reentry and armed with the nuclear powered "IWDS," or Intergalactic Warp-Drive Systems. The six Chevalier-Class Battlecruisers are the ship of the line, built out of a necessity to defend the Human Empire to the furthest reaches of the universe. The Vigilance is manned by a crew of 8,000, including a fixed fighter and bomber wing and a regiment of Federation Marines numbering approximately 1,500 in strength. The Vigilance is tasked with patrolling the far reaches of the Federation, protecting the outer rim and exploring the vast unknown.

The Roleplay

The Vigilance requires servicemen and servicewoman of all backgrounds to serve aboard her. The Vigilance needs marines, pilots, mechanics, fire control personnel, cooks, etc. The opportunities are endless and the adventures to be had without bounds! The Federation is calling all of its citizens to enlist and serve in the most advanced ship to ever fly across the stars. You will be tasked with the maintenance and operation of the ship and its many complex systems. You will be tasked with defending the Federation versus pirates, enemies of the state, alien lifeforms along with exploring the uncharted regions of space and acting as a peacekeeping entity throughout the universe. You will be a small cog in a massive machine, one that will shape history as we know it. More info will be available during OOC

No, infact it will be encouraged. There are fixed fighter and bomber wings along with support craft that would make the Vigilance akin to a modern-day aircraft carrier.

There will be more information on this when I finish the OOC. The Marines aboard The Vigilance are mostly trained in intergalactic warfare. (Fighting aboard space ships, fighting in zero gravity environments, engaging in the close quarters environments of a lunar colony. On planets, they may conduct quick, surgical strikes on surface targets.) They probably wouldn't do things that a modern Army is known for, such as entrenching or holding a position, or fielding heavy armor such as battle tanks.

The OOC should be done sometime tonight.

Historically, it has been Marines that have been deployed from naval ships. It's only fitting that in an intergalactic navy that Marines would be the military force being deployed. This was true within the British, French and German Empires too, not just the United States.

I know, I know. I just have the mindset of not using the Marines that much, because I've been in a load of sci-fi Rp's for a while that use espatiers, which is what is likely the most realistic space armed force, so sorry about that.

Espatier is just a fancy word with no dictionary definition. It supposedly originates from the French language (I don't speak French,) and basically means Marine, though people have been using the term as a sort of "Space Soldier" or "Space Marine"

In the end you're just arguing tomato and tomato. But I see what you mean. Technically Marine refers to water, though in popular science fiction the spaceships are still considered Navy.
