Sherlock was Knocked out. Liam only had one Pokemon left. He called out Lugia.
Pokedexes again dictated data.

"Dragon Rush!" Liam called.

"Grass Knot!" Lugia rushed Tachi and the Espeon was knocked out. "You leave me with no other choice, Liam," stated Shiranui, "Ho-Oh, I choose you!" The tri-coloured, iridescent bird known as Ho-Oh came out and Pokédexes were scanning the legendary as well. "Ho-Oh, Ancient Power!" A mysterious force shot out of Ho-Oh's beak aimed at Lugia.

"Ho-oh, the Rainbow Pokemon. Ho-Oh's feathers glow in seven colors depending on the angle at which they are struck by light. These feathers are said to bring happiness to the bearers. This Pokémon is said to live at the foot of a rainbow. It will reveal itself before a pure-hearted Trainer by shining its bright, rainbow-colored wings. A rainbow is said to form behind it when it flies."

'Aeroblast!" Liam ordered.

"Sacred Fire!" Both Pokémon fired their attacks and the result was a much more powerful explosive stalemate.

"Hydro Pump!" Liam called.

"Brave Bird!" Ho-Oh went into a dive away from the line of fire and when it leveled off near the ground, the iridescent bird started glowing a bright blue colour as it flew towards Lugia.

"Aeroblast quick!" Liam called. Lugia tried to fire its signature move in Ho-oh's face.

Ho-Oh fought through the Aeroblast, putting every bit of its courage into the attack.

Lugia was hit by the attack. It loud out an angry roar. Lugia began to glow as it prepared an attack.

The Trick Room had faded, but Shiranui did not notice. "That's a Sky Attack, Ho-Oh!" he warned, "Use Sacred Fire!" Ho-Oh breathed out a hot golden flame at Lugia.

Lugia charged though the Sacred Fire, much like Ho-oh did with the Aeroblast.

After the Sky Attack had struck, Ho-Oh was getting exhausted. "Ho-Oh, use Ancient Power!" Ho-Oh fired the same beam of mysterious energy at Lugia.

"Ancient Power as well!" Liam called.

The attacks collided, but Lugia's attack was pushing Ho-Oh's back. Ho-Oh was blasted and crash landed in front of Shiranui.

"Ho-Oh is unable to battle! The winner of this battle and of the Johto League Silver Conference is Liam Coleman of Blackthorn City!" the official ruled.

Shrine's likeness and his Pokemn vanished from the screen. Liam's and the icons for his Pokemon took the screen. The word "Champion" emblazoned the screen in a fancy cursive script and was gold in color. Fireworks went off erupting into shapes such as A Pokeball, a star, Pikachu, Cyndaquil, Totodile, and Chikorita. The crowd erupted into a dealing applause. Liam cheered as he hugged Lugia around its neck. He walked over to shake his friend's hand.

"If there was anyone in the whole wide world that would give me my first defeat, I'm glad it was you, Liam," said Shiranui, returning Liam's handshake.

An official approached the duo. He carried a trophy for Liam. The official said they wanted a picture of him and his Pokemon.To accomplish this Nikola and Lugia were in the back and leaned their heads in. Enter was laying down, Sherlock, in his Mega form floated next to Entei. Sylveon stood on Liam's right with a ribbon wrapped around his wrist, and Blissey stood on his right, aiding Liam in holding the trophy up. Once the picture was clicked, Liam was ambushed by a woman who said her name was Mary and she worked at the Goldenrod Radio tower. She wanted an interview.
Oak, Sycamore, and Liam's parents all approached.
"Congratulations!" They said in a staggered fashion.
Liam thanked them.

He told them that they need to find a quite place to talk. He recalled everyone but Sherlock. People were about to rush from the stands, so he had Sherlock teleport himself, his parents, Shiranui, Oak, Sycamore, and Mary to a quite place. ( I am assuming Ho-oh is already back in its ball) They were dropped off in the room Liam and Shiranui were given to stay in during the tournament.

Oak chastised Mary about pestering the champion about an interview so quickly. She apologized. Liam told her to wait till tomorrow. He will answer some questions before they leave for the next destination. She implied she also wanted to ask questions of Shiranui.
