Surviving Yosemite

Yosemite-a natural expanse of rock, glaciers, deep valleys, grand meadows, and sequoias located in California. A natural beauty, yes, but one's worst nightmare when trying to survive in it's clutches. When an airplane goes off course and crashes, multiple survivors must learn to survive if they want to escape Yosemite's harsh winters and venture to safety, all while exploring over 1,200 square miles.

If you don't know what Yosemite is, it is a natural park located in the United States. More information can be found here: http://www.nps.gov/yose/index.htm. My plan for a new casual roleplay is for multiple plane crash survivors to try and find safety while venturing the vast Yosemite. If you are interested, post below. If enough interest is accumulated, I will make an OOC and an IC!

What timeframe are we talking here? It might be interesting (and more realistic) to do a 1950-60's setting.

I was thinking a more modern scenario, but it's debatable. Anyone who is watching this thread go ahead and post what time period you want.

Well I was just thinking that it wouldn't make much sense to be stuck in Yosemite in the 2000's. It seems like help would be there very fast, and people would have their phones to call for help and pinpoint their location. So an earlier time period would eliminate that.

I'd prefer modern simply because I don't think I'd do very well roleplaying someone from the 50s or 60s. I may or may not butcher it. But the point about help arriving is definitely a good one.

The plane could crash because of electrical disturbance, which would nullify the phone problem, an if it was a smaller plane ...

It could be my private plane, making it less likely for somebody to note our absence..... And hey, we have to get found eventually, right?

And it could be that they rescuers can't get to the site, or will take a while to. Weather conditions and such.

Ok I'll consider that. Perhaps it is winter time...

Maybe we won a contest? It could just be a smaller flight though. I like the idea of an electrical disturbance, and not to turn this into an apocalyptic scenario, but making it a state-wide possibly nationwide event would eliminate that plot-hole, plus be really cool at the same time.
