I’m sorry you had to wake up like this, sleeping on the cold ground isn’t very comfortable. You’re probably wondering where you are though and why you’re here. Well that’s simple; you’re in my mansion which will probably be your home sooner or later. It doesn’t have to be though. If you can escape you’re free to go, don’t just try to break out through brute force though. My house doesn’t take that kindly and I don’t want damaged collectibles. Oh that reminds me, if you can’t escape you become mine, that is why I chose you. I wanted another special thing to add to my collection.

A group of special individuals, people or creatures with unique abilities, all find themselves trapped in the basement. They have no idea where they are or why they are there. On the door at the top of the basement stairs they find this letter and their confusion and worry spreads. The door is surprisingly unlocked.
A key out of the mansion is hidden somewhere, guarded by dangers and fierce creatures/monsters. They aren’t the only monsters there however, seeing as a few of the kidnapped individuals are not human themselves. No-one can just jump out a broken window either, the house is enchanted to repair itself quick enough that trying to escape from said window would result in losing a limb or more. These individuals have to team up to face the challenges of the mansion and find the key to freedom, seeing as the front door is locked from the outside.
In this we’ll all mostly be playing the individuals who were taken, but they aren’t average people either. Each one of them have an ability, though some are inhuman, that caused this Collector to become interested in them. If anyone wants to play a previous collection though please ask, these are the creatures/ people around the mansion who now unwillingly work for The collector.
Do not hesitate to ask questions or ask for help.

Appearance: Howard, when he appears human, is 6'2", has slick, black hair, typically Slavic features, blue eyes, and is of a very slim build. In his alternate form, he maintains dimensions but bears slick, grey skin, a head reminiscent of both insects and octopi, a number of extraneous tentacles, inverted knee joints, and clawed hands and feet.
Personality: Howard is a bit of a shut-in, isolating himself from others lest they discover his nature, of which he is ashamed. He is intelligent and hardly shy, but does not enjoy people, as he's come to associate them with derision and snide commentary.
Fear(s): Being discovered, fire, crowds, holy relics
Ability: Howard has the ability to change between an Illithid, a child of C'thulhu, and a human. His Illithid form is stronger, more durable, and faster than most humans, but radiates an aura that decays the mental state of all within in, including Howard. As a human, Howard retains some of this control over madness, with the ability to madden others to an extent parallel with his level of bodily exertion.
Short History: Howard was born and raised in Providence, Rhode Island, from which he scarcely departed. A majority of his life was spent studying law and the natural sciences, but this was cast away upon his spontaneous first transformation while visiting a beach. A cephalopod, something he had never seen prior, induced him to take his Illithd form for the first time and subsequently flee to begin a new life elsewhere.

Ability: Control and mimicry of darkness/shadows, and fire manipulation.
Short History: Found abandoned when she was a baby with only strange flute and a note with her name on it, Faira was placed with an adoption agency, where she was quickly adopted by a loving couple.
She grew up mostly happy and knowing she was adopted, always wondering who her biological parents were.
A few weeks before her seventeenth birthday, one of her friends had dragged her to a party.
She hung back, hoping no one would notice her and wishing she could blend in with the shadows of the poorly lit room. Suddenly, she found that that is exactly what she could do.
Not long after that, she discovered her ability to control fire after she and her best friend got into a heated argument. She had stormed off to a single bathroom in a corner of their school to try and cool off, but instead set the toilet paper roll on fire.
She chose to share her abilities with her few friends, but a majority of them reacted with fear, and drew away from Faira. Because of that, she chose to keep the abilities from her parents.
Both intrigued and frightened by her abilities, she began to practice and play with her new-found gifts, doing what research she could on the powers by both reading and trial-and-error, until the day when she found herself waking in a strange manor along with a few others, and only a note signed by someone calling his/herself “The Collector” as an explanation.
Other: She has a strange, swirling scar on her shoulder which she has had since placed into adoptive care, and tends to favor clothes of the color black. She always carries the flute she was found with, which is conveniently collapsible, and has had a special pocket sewn onto a couple pairs of her pants specifically for the instrument. Still not entirely capable of controlling her powers, they tend to “act up” with emotions.

Question for you: when it comes to descriptions of the rooms/house when we get into the actual IC posts, is it going to be more GM controlled, player controlled, or somewhere in between, like the basics being laid out by one of you two, then the rest being up for grabs?

A little of both. Generally, the initial threats and description of the rooms will be detailed through GM/Co-GM posts and can then be described further in player posts; although the threats will remain the same regardless.
