Just seeing what interest a Viking raiding story would get. Looking for a few others to create a party, and the story will be about their lives both in their home village and out in the west.

- There will be violence, swearing, blood, crude talk and insults etc. So not for the faint hearted or easily offended.
- Looking for a few posts a week, so do not need to reply every day.
- I will develop a story and offer more information if this gets any interest.
- I will be playing as a shieldmaiden, will allow one more female as well. Don't mean to be funny, but I despise female dominated role plays.

Set in 793 A.D, the story will start with the first recorded raid on Britain, when Viking raiders hit Lindisfarne and sacked the monastery. Having never ventured to the West before, some thought the journey to be foolish, but our small band of raiders have treasure in their eyes and adventure in their hearts. There is not much else to say right now, as the role play will be pretty open and can change due to the actions of our characters. But as a starting base, our characters will be regularly meeting to venture west, instead of the eastern raids. There will also be the excitement of the new ‘Longship’ that will carry them. Now, if we want a little drama we could use an earl who does not approve of this raid and our characters do it anyway? Or we could go with the blessing of the chieftain. It will mostly be an open ended drama and adventure story.

That sounds like the plot of the first few episodes in the first season of the History Channel's TV Show _Vikings_. :P I'm super interested, though - I assume our characters will all be hailing from the same village?

That may be why it came to me so easily. Oops. Although the first documented raids were in 793 A.D at Lindesfarne. That is open to discussion between players. If someone wants to be a farmer, they wouldn't necessarily be in the town. They can either be friends or acquaintances, or a new band put together. Again, open to suggestions and ideas from you all.

Well, that's not a bad thing - it's a solid basis for a good story to develop from. I think having character relationships already in place before the RP starts would be a good thing, but I suppose it's not a necessity. :) Do you have a character skeleton in mind? ..Actually, it would probably be a good idea to wait for some more background information from you on the village/its location before we started writing up sheets.

I'm really game for anything; the date was all I needed to get things in mind. Though personally I'm not a fan of character sheets: writing is an organic process, and I usually have to just write some kind of freeform intro to get a feel for the character. That is to say, we don't receive a dossier for each new person we meet in the real world -- first impressions are difficult to make when we already know most everything (OOC'edly, anyway).

Well, if it's going to be a roleplay about Vikings, you'd sort of _need_ to know things about other people's characters before the roleplay began, I'd think - since they lived in small, tight-knit communities (most of them, anyway - there was the odd hermit, I suppose). :P Although I think your introductory posts are quite cool - the one you wrote up for the Aesteria Chronicles was awesome. c:

You do have a point. Especially in regards to this RP. And thanks, I enjoyed myself writing it.
