If you're done with the study scene, we can move forward. I intend to have something happen to Jared on the way home. Kinda thought of Karate Kid there.

Alrighty. Do what you want to, right now, I'm super exhausted, and aside from answering questions, I don't have much for a response at the moment. So if you wanted.to.do it now, I look forward to reading it. If not, I won't have a reply up until later. Either way.

It's no big deal. I still have a good idea where to steer the plot in any case. We can always wrap up the study session and I can run forward with the post I have in mind.

Should make the Winter Formal a Sadie Hawkins Dance -- where the girls invite men.

Oh, that could be fun to play with. I like that idea a lot.

I'm still thinking that the formal is a couple weeks away unless you wanted to make it sooner.

I'm cool with whatever. However, plotwise, I think I should have Heather Voss ask Jared along and he can accept. That, of course, could be a whiff of scandal.

I love it! Its perfect. I think the day before the formal I'm going to have Ricki ask Gabe, just for the hell of it.

I'll wind up giving her an insecure but mean streak, manipulative type stuff. Probably has a beef with Ricki and co.? Fling with Livingston? That and using stuff Gabe told her to her advantage.

Pic suggestion; Brooke Butler; mostly does B-horror; in one case a cannibal zombie cheerleader, seems apropos.

I'm going with the idea that the Winter Formal's dress code covers anything from blazers and slacks to sport coat and dress pants to outright suits, especially since it's in California where informal is a little more prevalent than the East Coast -- the East Coast is changing, but ties are still pretty much the order of the day, whereas in Cali, you get away with open collar, more and more.

That's the feel I was getting. Its a formal, but it's not prom level. Imagine what the prom will be like. But of course, the girls will take it more seriously.

Usually suits for men. Badly picked ties, because they're young. Unless, of course, their fathers know suits and ties.

I was in a men's clothing store watching a sales guy sell this kid and his mom a purple tie and I wanted to yell, "NOOOO! DONNNNNN'T!" Because purple's a bad color on most white kids anyway, unless you are especially dark of skin and this kid was pale, so that sort of color would just wash him out a bit. Black dudes pull it off, because of skin tone, with a purple shirt or whatever, but the color rules tend to work differently depending on things like skin tone and hair...and region.

God, I remember helping my younger brother with his.prom stuff. Of course, his date picked pink for a color. There was no helping him. The pink wasn't bad, per say, but it just wasn't meant for my brother. I always picked neutral tones, if not black or white.

Purple or pink striped shirt and a pink paisley on blue with some sort of sport coat or a gray or dark blue suit would suffice for that. By the same token, blazer as well. Or a blue paisley on pink, but that might be a little harder to find and less reusable. Ties are damned expensive, and so are the shirts, for that matter.

For example, Brooks Brothers does a pale pink number with blue stripes that is pretty damned sharp, though it's better with a tan, obviously.

Where I lived anything was hard to find. I mean, I've only ever met three people who heard of Couch, MO, and that was because their grandparents retired there.
