[OOC] Paving Their Way with Hope

This a Pokemon 1x1 between myself and @c3p-0h taking place in Kalos.

Basic Plot

They didn't have dreams of becoming a Champion after defeating the region's Leaders, nor did they dream of breeding pokemon or researching them. Their dreams were a little off the beaten path. They dreamed of helping people and pokemon in need. They dreamed of being a beacon of hope when there was none to be found. Together they started a business in which they became couriers to those in need, in tricky desperate situations. People would call from whatever route they were in and list the supplies they needed to help themselves or their pokemon. In under a year, their reputation had spread across the region and some people were now trying to take advantage of them by putting fake distress class out in order to ambush them and take their supplies, money and pokemon.

And a year and a half into their honest hard work, rival services are becoming to crop up, claiming to be cheaper and faster.

Their dream refuses to die though. Since day one, it's been the two of them but now they are working hard to expand their business and enlist the help of other skilled folks. As their dream infects others who have big hearts and brave souls, two years into their venture, the region's sinister criminal gang decides it could also benefit from one of these stylish prompt courier services. The criminal gang begins to lure and corrupt many of the rival services and before long, they decide they need to do something about it, rival business or not, innocent people and pokemon shouldn't be bullied around and forced into labor. Should [they go undercover and pretend to accept the deal to work for an evil group? Or should they combat them head on with the help of their new allies? It's a tough call and clearly not the only two paths to be considered.

With the region seeking any help it can, they are well aware that time is limited and that the Leaders and Elite Four can only keep so much peace in the cities and towns. They are clearly willing to do whatever it takes to bring justice and hope to everyone in need, even if it means betrayal, deception, greed, slavery and even murder.

So far we've decided that we'll need the following type of Pokemon:

A healer
One with teleport (maybe able to use a sleep/hypnosis too)
One that can fly and scope out the area
One to probably start fires (for cooking)
One able to lift heavy things (trees, boulders)
And one that can produce water

If we are happy with those, we can probably pick which "type" we want and then narrow it down to the exact pokemon and its skills.

We've also settled on Lumiose City being where we start but we also need to figure out how our characters meet and for long how they've been friends. With this, I think they'd need to be friends for at least 3-4 years in order to have a good enough bond to go into business together. I'm thinking of just making a male character, likely either 23 or 24. I'm still hunting around for a nice enough picture though.

i'm pretty heavily reworking a preexisting character i have. 23, originally from kiloude, but moved up to lumiose maybe ten years ago or so. classmates? neighbors? a mutual friend set them up on a blind date in high school and they figured 'no you're not my type but you seem ok enough to hang out with'? really it can be anything you like.

the pokemon types you listed look good to me. i think i'll be the first to claim one and nab the teleporter if that's all right with you. idk how strict you wanna be with the pokemon rules, but i was thinking a claydol. they don't learn hypnosis in the game, but it's a pretty generic psychic move.

I think neighbors would work, and if they went to the same high school, that would also work. So I assume they met around age 14-15? Does that sound right to you? I'm working on my own CS right now, plan on finishing it before I hit the hay, it'll be basic but hopefully still useful.

I'll snag the one who can lift heavy things, and also the fire one. I'm thinking a Golem and a Growlithe.

i'm also seriously considering changing vaporeon to a masquerain but i'll decide that later on.

I settled on my third pokemon.

I think keeping it as Vaporeon is fine but whichever you decide is cool with me.

I don't think so. Maybe just to make sure we've got some general backstory.

So they went to high school in Lumiose City, met during...? Maybe some kind math or historical pokemon class?

I also assume in Lumiose City they have more apartments than anything else, so they'd live in the same complex?

Would you like us to start with them on getting the idea, them on their first mission? I assume we'll be fine with following each other's lead when things get rolling. We seem to be pretty chill haha.

oh lol i assumed we'd be starting when they're already pretty established and comfortable with their roles. i'm totally cool with starting earlier than that tho, like their first mission or something.

I don't mind starting when they are more established, if you'd prefer that.

honestly whatever is fine. i just figured it would save us the trouble of going through all the set-up. but i was thinking maybe we start around the time of a mission that either goes well or goes south due to any number of reasons. rival group shows up, ambush, wild pokemon give us a hard time…

I just was thinking of a way to ease us into it since it is a new concept. Maybe our first IC mission (but not the first for our duo) goes well and then our second can be the one that takes a turn for the worse?

hey so if you want to go the teleport route, you can just go ahead and say "cori brought out her claydol and they teleported" or something. no need to wait for my post to move it along. of course if you wanna do something completely different that's cool too. i left it open.

I was thinking the teleport would only work if the exact location was known and since they don't know where their target is, they can't go right to it. Of course once they do, they could teleport to the nearest Pokemon Center. At least that's what I figured, it's your pokemon so you may have a different idea when it comes to using the skill.

I was mainly thinking either they teleport to the closest piece of solid ground or just directly to the mansion for better or worse. The kid being there is their best guess but obviously he might not be there. Lol it really depends on how fed up Cori is.

Nate can probably talk her down from anything too rash pretty easily right now.
