Valgius woke up. Wherever he was, it certainly wasn't home. He got up, groaning. He first felt for his scabbard... good, the Eagle Blade was still in his possession... Valgius got up, looking around. He'd landed in a field of some sort... he saw no immediate threats... but he didn't let his guard down. Whatever had brought him here, Valgius knew he couldn't afford to be gone for long. Yes, he'd defeated Barracador... but there was no way to tell if his defeat was permanent or not... Valgius got up, and started walking toward a large city in the distance. Just outside the city limits, he was jumped by about 20 winged... somethings. They weren't Darkelings, that much was for sure. They were muscular, though only the size of his finger. They looked like demons, kind of. Whatever they were, they attacked. Valgius drew his blade, fending off the creatures. After felling two of them, Valgius held out his hand, willing the power of Fire to burst at his foes... but nothing happened. The Imps, as that's what the were (though Valgius didn't know that), grabbed ahold of him, flinging him into a tree. They then grabbed his sword, and Valgius noticed that the hilt was retracted inside. The Imps then flew off with his sword. Valgius then got up, but had to dodge more of the Imps. These ones seemed feral, and they attack ruthlessly. Valgius could only flee from the critters, running toward the city.

Sophie wandered through the busy city. She pushed her way through the crowds of people, hurrying along the paths besides the roads. Oh, how she hated it here. The busyness really annoyed her, as she could never really get anyway because of it. There was also loads of cars and stuff so she'd had way too many near death experiences. She simply didn't like it. She decided to get out, walking a bit quicker. Then she started running through the people, getting yelled at as she did.
"Oh shut up!" She yelled back at them. All she wanted was a bit of peace and quiet and she was never going to get that in this place. She pushed through the remaining areas of the city and into a large field. She walked through it, ending up in a dark forest. She sighed as she'd finally found somewhere away from the overcrowding.

She leaned against a tree. She looked up and noticed a strange guy moving through the forest, as if running away from something. He looked really lost and Sophie couldn't help but feel sorry for him. If he was headed for the city, it wouldn't be much good.

Valgius ran on and on. He picked up a tree branch along the way, and found himself at a dead-end. He stood and faced off the Imps, batting them away with the thick branch. However, all he seemed to be doing was frustrating the creatures even more. He bashed one on its head, stunning it. Valgius took the opportunity to flee some more. He saw someone, a girl, up ahead. She seemed to be dressed strangely. Valgius, however, shouted out in desperation "Help me! I'm under attack!"

Sophie watched the guy helplessly try to keep the creatures away. She sighed. Someone needed to learn how to defend themselves.

She reached into her back pocket and pulled out a knife which glinted slightly in the sunlight. She pushed herself off the tree, launching herself at the creature. She span slightly and pushed the knife's blade straight through the heart of the creature. She then kind of danced her way through the rest, stabbing each and everyone before landing crouched down on the floor. She put the knife back into her pocket and stood up to face the guy.

Valgius nodded. "Thanks... if my blade hadn't been taken by those creatures, I would have been able to fend for myself." Valgius said, wrapping his cloak around his body. He then looked around. "Where am I, anyway? This... is not Draktor City... Nor is it the Masked Village... where am I?" Valgius asked. He seemed really confused, and then shook his head. "And why does my Focus not work?" he then asked, this time to no one in particular. He scratched his head, before turning back to the girl. "And who are you?" he then asked.

Sophie sighed. This guy had so many questions. But where the hell was Draktor City?! Or even the Masked Village?!
"You're in Kurisutaru. Well the outskirts anyway. It's too busy to actually go in, I warn you," Sophie shuddered at the thought. Ugh people. She hated it all. "I'm Sophie and I don't know what 'Focus' is so I can't help you there. What's your name?" She asked, curiously. This guy was strange. Really strange.

Valgius shook his head. "Kurisutaru? I don't think there's any 'Kurisutaru' in the known lands..." Valgius muttered. He said nothing as the girl continued, but did answer her question. "Me... I am the Masked Minion, opposer to the evil Dark Lord Barracador." Valgius replied to her. He shook his head. "You, however... can call me 'Valgius'. It's my real name." he added, surveying the area. He looked at the dead bodies of the Imps, examining them. "What creatures are these? They aren't Darkelings, that's for sure... I've never seen them before..." Valgius asked, picking up one of the creatures by its wing. He then casually tossed it back down on the ground.

Sophie stared at him, confused. What was all this he'd been saying? Known lands? Masked Minion? Evil Dark Lord Barracador? What? And Darkelings? What were they and surely he'd seen these creatures before? But he said he hadn't. How? They were everywhere!
"Uh..." Sophie mumbled, still confused. "They are Imps," She told him before walking up to him. She'd never seen clothes like these before. Where the hell could he have come from?! He was so different, so strange.

Valgius nodded. "Imps? Hmm... very different from the Imps I know..." he muttered. The Imps he'd faced were twice his size, and strong enough to lift up pieces of the earth from their place. He shook his head. "This place... I get the feeling I'm not home anymore..." he muttered.

"Hee, hee! That be correct, Valgius, son of Valorium and protegé of Angoreor." an old woman in a brown robe said. She had a hood around her face, which effectively hid her facial features. Valgius stared at her. "H-h-how did you know... my father... my teacher...? How?" was all he could ask. The lady cackled. "I know lots about things that others don't... isn't that right, Sophie... Child of Destiny?" the old woman asked. Valgius turned to her. "Child... of Destiny?" he asked. Things just went from strange to him thinking he was having some sort of dream. However, a pinch to his hand confirmed he had his wits about him...

Sophie stepped back slightly. What? Who was this? What was she talking about?
"Child of Destiny? I'm not that!" She exclaimed. She wasn't, she was just a regular girl who seemed more like a tomboy than anything else. She didn't have any special destiny or have magic powers. If she was talking about defeating that Imp, then she had no idea. She'd pretty much lived among the Imps, all her life, she'd learnt how to defeat them easily. It was part of her childhood.

The old lady chuckled even more. "If yeh'll follow me, I'll show yeh's what I be talking about. And nevermind the hustle and bustle, Valgius. Just follow me, and don' get lost, y'hear?" the lady asked. She then turned and walked into the city, moving with a speed that belied her age. Valgius followed, ignoring the stares he got from many of the people. Valgius had to remind himself to keep going multiple times. After all, this place had many things that reinforced the idea that Valgius was definitely not home... wagons that seemed to propel themselves (vehicles), round and square devices that had numbers on them (clocks), metal rods that seemed to shoot small round objects (guns)... too much for him to take in. The old lady led the two to a grimy building in one of the slum areas. Many homeless people were asking for handouts, though Valgius ignored them as well. The lady stepped inside, followed by Valgius, There, he saw the room was dim, and held a wide array of assorted junk, some of which he recognized: old bows, a fine-looking blade that looked awful similar to his Eagle Blade. The lady sat down in a chair at a table, which was topped with an item Valgius would know anywhere: a Crystal Ball. Valgius stared at this lady. Something was weird about her...

Sophie followed the two, wondering if she should actually be following. She did seem to only be talking to Valgius really. But she followed anyway. After all, she was curious and confused. Who was this Valgius guy? And what was the Child of Destiny? Obviously not her, as she had no clue what the lady was talking about. She hated going back into the city, full of people and cars and near death experiences. She followed them into the slums in the city and sighed. Great now she'd be asked for handouts by homeless people. Well they shouldn't expect anything from her, she barely had a home herself. As she walked inside a run-down looking building, she noticed a Crystal Ball on a table. So she was a fortune teller, huh? Probably just looking for some money then, Sophie thought to herself.

The lady turned to the two of her guests. "First, I'll explain what I know about this mysterious young man." the lady said. She then stared into the Crystal Ball. "Aah... I see... your home planet of Hetra... was endangered by the evil Dark Lord Barracador, a man who was no longer a man. He was once a Druid... oh, interesting... he found a way to meld his soul with the Malus Realm... and brought the children of the darkness, the Darkelings, into your realm... He was defeated.. by the power of the Eagle Blade... forged by the Druid Bontrestor... Ah! You're here from some of his leftover power... But what brings you to Chikyu?" the lady then looked up. She was visibly sweating. "So... from another dimension, eh? Then I guess that blade the Imps took is the 'Eagle Blade', eh?" she then turned to Sophie. "As for you, child. I call you Child of Destiny... because you are the one who will oppose Akumu..." the lady said.

Valgius was from a different dimension?! But that can't be possible! Sophie stood there, shocked at even the idea of it, never mind it actually being real. She then heard why the strange lady called her the Child of Destiny. She'd oppose Akumu? The guy who had been destroying hundreds of cities, worldwide? The guy who cannot be defeated no matter what power the person trying had? This couldn't be right! But the lady never said defeat him... She was gonna die wasn't she...?
"No... That isn't true!" She yelled at the lady. She didn't want to die.

Valgius turned to Sophie. "Akumu? Hmm... well, I hope those weren't his Imps that took my blade... if so, then I have a personal beef with the guy." Valgius said. He turned to leave. "From the look on your face, you know something about this guy. Come. We have much to discuss." Valgius said, sounding more like a soldier. He turned to the old lady, pulling out a couple of good-sized coins. "Here... 10 Grownds ought to cover your services." Valgius said, tossing the weighty coins at the lady, who tossed them back at him. "No charge for my services. I'm all but forgotten here anyway, but I get enough business to keep this place open and survive." the lady said. Valgius nodded, returning the Grownds to the pouch he'd gotten then from. He then turned to Sophie. "Come. I need to buy a sword, but then we're gonna find this 'Akumu' guy and get my blade back." Valgius said, leaving and heading for the busier parts of the city. Once he got there, he realized... he didn't know where to go!

Sophie sighed. This guy thought he had control her? He thought he could give her orders? Even so, she followed him, seeing where he would go. He obviously didn't know his way around and after ordering her like that, Sophie just watched him wander around aimlessly with a huge smirk on her face. Served him right for thinking he could order her around. What he didn't know though, was that she was going no where near Akumu. She wasn't going to let herself be killed so easily.

Valgius, after wondering around, looked back and saw Sophie. He turned to her. "Look, I know what it's like to have destiny shoved in your face. It happened to me... they said it was ten years ago... but I didn't age." Valgius shook his head. He started walking down the street, following what he guessed was a supply truck. He turned back. "You don't have to come if you don't want to... but I'm going. I need to get my blade back... and I'm going, with or without Focus." Valgius said. He had not difficulty getting through the crowd, as the people parted to let the strange man through. A thief tried to take his Grownd Pouch, but Valgius hefted the man into the wall of a building and continued on his way. Eventually, he found a weapons shop. Valgius entered, looking around for a blade.

Sophie sighed heavily as she followed him into the shop.
"I'll come with you. You obviously don't know what your doing so you kinda need me," She told him, stating what appeared to be the obvious. She remembered that he said he'd be looking for a sword.
"You won't find no decent swords here, you know. If you want something decent you'll have to come back to my place. I have loads of weaponry. Keep it quiet though, don't wanna get found out." Now that she looked at him properly, she realized he was actually kinda good looking... What the hell was she thinking now?!

Valgius looked over at the girl. He moved in close. "No swords!? What kind of place is this!? Danger could strike at any moment... and you people don't sell swords!?" Valgius asked, his voice giving away disbelief. He looked at her, again, this time seeing that she wasn't that bad to look at. Valgius shook his head. He then turned to her. "Like I said, you don't have to come, but I'm getting my sword back, one way or another. Then, if you won't deal with this 'Akumu' guy, I guess I'll have to do it myself." Valgius said. He indicated that he'd follow if she'd lead, drawing his cloak about his body so his clothing wasn't revealed.

Sophie smirked.
"Nah, I'm not backing down. I'll defeat this guy. One way or another," She announced to him, making it clear she would go too. She then stepped out of the shop (which was as Valgius had made out, useless) and dodged her way through the crowds of people until she came to a tall building. She typed a security code into the pad next to the door and opened it, walking in and holding it open for Valgius.
