Valgius nodded and followed Sophie through the crowds, which still parted for him. Valgius paid them no mind, and entered the building behind Sophie. He stepped in first, looking for signs of danger. As he did so, Sophie would be able to clearly see the symbol on his back. Valgius nodded, relaxing a bit. "Seems safe enough." he said, moving to the middle of the room, and turning to face her. "So... where are the swords?" he asked. "After we get me armed again, we'll trade information. I have questions, and I'm sure you do as well."

Sophie noticed the strange symbol on Valgius' back. She examined it with her eyes but didn't say anything about it. She laughed at Valgius' question though.
"I don't live here. I live upstairs, in one of the apartments," She told him, before walking silently to the bottom of the stairs. She beckoned for him to follow her and walked up them before standing outside a door. She fiddled for a few seconds in her jacket pocket and found a shiny silver key. She pushed the key into the lock and turned it before taking it back out. She then opened the door and waited for Valgius to enter.

Valgius again followed the girl, and entered the "apartment", again checking it. When he was satisfied, he relaxed. he then turned to her. "Okay. I admit. I don't know much about this place, and I need you help me out here." Valgius said. He looked around. By his standards, the place was more magnificent than some of the richer houses he'd visited, though it didn't come close to matching Draktor Castle. Valgius looked at all the oddities: calendar, microwave, refrigerator, clock, anything technological. He shook his head. "Strange devices you have." he said.

Sophie gave Valgius a strange look. Strange devices? They were perfectly normal. She sighed. Then again this guy was far from normal. She stepped into the kitchen of the apartment and opened the fridge. She pulled out a carton of orange juice and placed it on the white marble side. She then opened one of the cupboards and pulled out a glass before pouring some of the orange juice into it.
"Oh, sorry. Did you want some?" She asked, turning towards Valgius.

Valgius stared at the drink. Orange? That couldn't be healthy. He examined the carton. "You sure this is safe? It's awful... orange..." he said. He shook his head. "Just some water from the local well will do. It's what I'm used to anyway." Valgius said. He stared looking around. "If you have a bucket, I can go fetch it for you. I'm used to taking care of myself." Valgius told her. He saw no bucket however... He turned around. "You... do use wells, right?" he asked. He wasn't sure of anything anymore...

Sophie looked at Valgius weirdly.
"Wells? What? Dude, we get water from taps! And this orange juice isn't dangerous!" She tried to explain. What was he thinking? Why was he so... unmodern? She stared at him confused for a minute before turning back to the cupboard. She pulled out another glass and poured some more of the juice into it. She then turned to Valgius and handed it to him. "Try it. I promise, it's safe."

Valgius took the glass, very cautiously. He sniffed at it first. He let some into his mouth, swilling it around. Finally, he swallowed. He stood for a bit. "Hmm... interesting. It's not like anything I'v ever tasted... 'orange juice', you called it?" Valgius asked. He then focused on what Sophie had said before. "And... what's a 'tap'? How does water come from it?" he asked. He shook his head. So much he didn't know.

Sophie sighed. He really was clueless wasn't he? She walked towards the sink in her kitchen and pointed at the tap.
"This is a tap. All you have to do is turn it, look," She explained to him. She turned the tap and water spilled out of it and into the sink. She then turned it back off and turned herself around to face Valgius.

Valgius approached the sink, turning it on and off like he's seen Sophie do. "What sorcery is this!?" he asked in amazement. "This is amazing... I've never seen anything quite like it before!" Valgius sat down in a chair. "Oh, this is too much... this place is so much different from Hetra..." he said. "We didn't have self-propelling wagons, no automatically running water, none of this." he said. Valgius shook his head. "This place... is something else..."

Sorcery? Now what was he on about? Sophie smiled at him though. She had no idea why, she just did. She reached into her pocket and pulled on her knife and placed it on the marble side. Then she disappeared into another room before emerging again, now holding a long sword. The handle was a glittering gold, dotted with rubies and the actual blade was well polished and glinted in the light. She stepped up to Valgius and handed it to him.

Valgius took the sword, and held it. He stepped away from anything he might destroy, and tested it around by swinging it a few times. He nodded, stepping back to Sophie. "Yes... this blade will do. Not quite what I need, but close enough. Then again, no blade ever felt right in my hand after I wielded the Eagle Blade for the first time. Now... we need to find those imps and get the Eagle Blade back." Valgius said. He turned to her. "Can I get a sheath for this?" he asked her, holding the sword as naturally as one would hold a newspaper.

Sophie sighed. This guy seemed to lose his memory quick. He'd said he wanted to talk and ask questions mere minutes ago. But she wasn't one to complain, she hated being interrogated. She disappeared into the other room again and brought out a leather sheath which was also dotted with rubies and swirling patterns of gold. She gave it to him before gulping down the rest of her juice.
"It's getting dark," She told him, "It's dangerous now. We should get some rest before heading out."

Valgius nodded. He put the sword in the sheath and strapped it across his back, underneath the cloak. He sat down in the chair again. "Perhaps we can discuss some things before we rest? Such as, I want to know about this place, and this 'Akumu' guy in particular. In return, I'll tell you my tale." he said to her. He shook his head. "However... if you don't want to discuss anything, we can go straight to bed."

Sophie sighed. She didn't really want to talk and she was exhausted. But she didn't complain.
"Go ahead. Ask away," She told him, sitting herself down near him. She looked at him. The clothes he wore were still so strange but still. There was just something about him... 'Oh no! Get these thoughts outta my head!' Sophie told herself sharply.

Valgius nodded. "I apologize if I seem overbearing... but there's so much to take in... but tell me first, why are things so fascinating here... we never had any of this back home..." Valgius asked. Indeed the cars, taps, orange juices, the machinery... it all fascinated him. If he had access to his Focus, he might have been able to adjust better... Valgius surmised that his Focus was lost when he lost the Eagle Blade...

Sophie looked at him questioningly.
"What do you mean you don't have any of this? Most people have stuff like this. It's simply modern day society," She explained to him, hoping he understood. She still couldn't seem to take her eyes off him and she had no idea why. 'Stop it!' She told herself, but still, she carried on.

Valgius shook his head. "Modern day society? This not not "modern day" by my standards." Valgius told her. He got up, pacing. "For me, modern is swords and bows, horse-drawn wagons and well water." Valgius said. He turned around again. "Wait a minute..." he said, recalling something from the deepest parts of his memory. "Do you... have nuclear weapons?" he asked, his voice sounding urgent and grave.

Sophie looked at Valgius questioningly. She nodded slowly at his urgent, grave sounding voice.
"Of course, why? What's so bad?" She asked, worried for a minute something she'd said had upset him. After all, she was always upsetting people.

"Then this world... might be in grave danger." Valgius told her. His voice was now full of worry and concern. According to what he'd been told by Angoreor... Valgius shook his head, visibly shaken by the news. He shook his head. "I just hope that it doesn't end up for you... like it did for us..." he said ominously, sitting back down.

Sophie was confused now.
"What...? What danger? Where? Why? When? How? What?!" She asked quickly, panicking. No, this couldn't be true. The nuclear weaponary was there to protect them. Right? She couldn't believe this! No! She wasn't gonna die from a nuclear weapon was she?!
