Blackwood Mountain
Owned by Bob and Melinda Washington, Blackwood Mountain is located in the Canadian Rockies in Alberta, Canada. The mountain was once home to a native tribe called the Cree. The Cree believed in living in harmony with the mountain by not disturbing its wildlife. The Cree also believed that butterflies of different colors would bring premonitions involving those around it. Tin and Radium was discovered inside of the mountain which led to a mining boom as prospectors closed in on the area from afar. A mine was established, owned, and operated by Jefferson Bragg, the same man who would preside over the asylum established years later. Eventually the Cree left the mountain due to colonial westward expansion and the havoc the miners were causing.
Now a holiday destination for our group, the mountain itself houses a mining system, the Washington Estate and the Blackwood Sanatorium. The events of the roleplay take place on the mountain. Blackwood Mountain is under protection of the Park Ranger Service of Blackwood County.

Blackwood Pines
Blackwood Pines is a collective name for the whole, possibly unincorporated, community in Blackwood County, Alberta, Canada. It is the location of the Washington Estate, the Blackwood Sanatorium and the old North West Mines, and is where the action of Until Dawn takes place. It also includes a partially demolished resort hotel. The community is situated in the forested area around Blackwood Mountain. The community also hosts a radio station, Radio from the Pines.

Blackwood Pines Hotel
The Blackwood Pines Hotel is an old hotel that closed its doors in the nineties. The former, dilapidated structure still sits on the mountain, and will be encountered by the group later on, when facing the Psycho. The hotel is, along with the Sanatorium, one of the older buildings and was set up under the Washington Estate Lodge.

The Washington Estate
The Washington Estate (colloquially known as The Lodge) is a large chalet-styled mansion built on Blackwood Mountain. The mansion serves as the primary location in which most events will take place. The Washington Estate was built in the late 1990s by movie mogul Bob Washington, to serve as a vacation home for his family. The home itself while having a log cabin/chalet exterior, is state of the art with a contemporary interior outfitted with multiple fireplaces and modern fixtures.

Blackwood Sanatorium
The Blackwood Sanatorium was a private clinic owned and operated by Jefferson Bragg, who built the facility over a natural geothermal hot spring. The building was opened in 1922 as a health resort and spa, and it became a magnet for the wealthy set of the Roaring Twenties. The Great Depression hit the resort hard, and as the years went by, the parties of the '20s became a dim memory.
In 1950, the resort had been forced to cater to a less prestigious clientele. The survivors of the 1951 North West Mines collapse were treated at this location, leading to the 1952 Clueline, outlining the origin of the Wendigos on Blackwood Mountain. Some of these survivors had already resorted to cannibalism, and the staff at the Sanatorium recorded the transformation of the miners into Wendigos until the remaining survivors completed their transitions and killed whatever staff had not already escaped or died. In 1955, Blackwood's entire operation closed, and the mountain lay without a tenant for many years.

North West Mines
The North West Mines, commonly known as the Blackwood Mines, is a complex of underground caverns, and tunnels which were, until the 1950s, mined for deposits of tin and radium. The mine is located in the underground of Blackwood Pines, and contains numerous natural and man-made passageways and rooms.
At the time it was in use, the mine had a working rail system to transport ore to the surface and a large water wheel, presumably used to generate power for the mining operation. Most of these systems are now disused and inoperable, though some machinery, including at least two lifts and a surface conveyor that leads to a rock crusher, still have a working power supply.
Parts of the mine appear to have been abandoned with little or no notice, and tools, lamps and personal items belonging to the miners may still be found in many areas.
