[CountDracula]

@Aisling Ioan teleported them back to the hospital.

Dracula was lying in his bed crying. "He just fainted..."

[Aisling]

@CountDracula

"Count Dracula, I am sure that he will be all right.... I know that you are upset but if Toma's heart gives out to the point where he can not recover, would you allow him to become a vampire? Will that heal his heart? " Mystique hurried over to him and knelt next to his bed then gently took his hand into hers so that she could comfort him as best as she knew how.

[CountDracula]

@Aisling "Of course, I would..." Dracula answered. "But first, this only works if your heart is beating... secondly, he's still a child... changing him would mean that he won't age any more... and that would mean that he could never fulfill his dream and become an astronomer... thirdly, the change can go wrong..."

Ioan put a hand on Dracula's shoulder. "Toma has been on top of EuroTransplant's list for more than 18 months by now... eight months are normal."

[Aisling]

@CountDracula

"I didn't realize all that. Let's be positive of his recovery. And that a new heart has been found for him." Mystique spoke encouragingly while trying to keep herself calm.

Fiona walked to the edge of the bed next to Mystique who placed an arm around her.

[CountDracula]

@Aisling Dracula was shaking. "What if they can't restart his heart?"

[Aisling]

@CountDracula

"There is a rarely done procedure where the chest is opened, ribs sawed and then heart is massaged to keep it going. It was done in WWII in the M*A*S*H units. Do the doctors here know of that procedure?" Mystique asked.

[CountDracula]

@Aisling "We know this procedure here, but it isn't more effective than normal CPR," Dracula's father answered. "It's called an open heart massage. Doctors do it when you've got a chest injury that makes normal CPR impossible."

[Aisling]

@CountDracula

I am glad but is there a heart yet for Toma? Any word of his condition?

[CountDracula]

@Aisling "They don't have a heart for him yet..." the father answered. "They're trying to restart the one he has."

[Aisling]

@CountDracula

Mystique hung her head and hugged Fiona as she waited for more news.

"I guess that is all that I can think of so I guess it is time to wait......"

[CountDracula]

@Aisling An hour later, a doctor came in. "Your majesty?"

Dracula sat up. "Yes?"

"Your son is better," the doctor said. "His heart is beating, but he's still unconscious, and he isn't breathing on his own."

[Aisling]

@CountDracula

"loan? isn't there any magic to make Toma's heart better?" Fiona asked.

[CountDracula]

@Aisling Ioan sighed. "I wish there was... but for some reason, magic can't cure birth defects..."

[Aisling]

@CountDracula

"Oh........" Fiona spoke sadly.

"It's the thought that counts. And we wouldn't know unless we ask." Mystique spoke quietly from her chair.

[CountDracula]

@Aisling Another three hours went on until the doctor returned. "He's getting better, but he should go to a specialized heart center. Mr. Gheorghescu?"

"I can teleport us there," Ioan said.

"Good. We've already informed them." The doctor guided them to Toma, so that Ioan could teleport them to the heart center more easily, which he did.

Mystique looked around the new hospital and sniffed.
This hospital is even more smelly in the cleaning. You know what I mean? Stronger cleaning smells.... Way too big for my comfort..... Not that it shouldn't be cleaned. I am sensitive to certain smells any more.. Mystique thought towards loan.

[CountDracula]

@Aisling "That's because for children like Toma, even a cold can be deadly," Dracula's father explained. "It can develop into an inflammation of the heart. If you are transplanted, the risk is even higher, since your immune system needs to be suppressed to prevent the body from rejecting the new heart."

[Aisling]

@CountDracula

Does this mean that Toma will stay here until he receives a heart? I am sure that we will have to wear masks and gowns to see Toma. Mystique asked.

[CountDracula]

@Aisling "It doesn't. He can wait for it at home. We just need to be careful if Fiona gets sick," the father answered. "We don't have to wear masks and gowns either. Only after a heart surgery."

[Aisling]

@CountDracula
"Did Toma pick up a cold bug or something? Is that what made his heart fail?" Mystique asked as she suppressed a shudder of fear. This was an unknown and very scarey world to her.
