I'm thinking of making a human who is wary of the Others, but also just wants to get along with them and have a pretty normal life. I haven't really thought out any other aspects of her personality, but I'm open for suggestions if anyone wants to help me explore Human/Other interactions and friendships and such

I would suppose that she happens to live in the same neighborhood/possibly even the same building as many of them. Hearing so much about them makes her wary, but being around them all the time gives her pause to question the general public opinion.

It might be a little too much to make her an unwitting roommate to an Other, but it could be one that is "passing" as human, and she might not learn their true nature for a while. Which could be entertaining because they could have conversations about Others, where she thinks both she and her roommate are coming from the same place, but no, it turns out they are not.

So if you want to play up the general caution around these presumably dangerous Others, you could go jumpy and anxious, or quietly cautious and vigilant.

Just a few thoughts from my corner.

I would probably go mostly cautious and vigilant, but if she had a close encounter with one of the more dangerous Others, her general anxiety about the whole situation would show. Which if she had a roommate or friend who was a hidden Other, the conversation afterward would be pretty interesting.

If there was more than one human character, then there could be someone who already knew about Others, and so made a support group for other humans to help accept them.

Alternatively, there could be someone who formed a sort of vigilante group designed to actively hunt Others.

Mistress Talith

Demon name: Talith

Human Name: Tori Skotos

Nicknames: Mistress, Milady, Marchioness

Race: Succubus

Age: she's lost track, nor does she care. Besides which, it's rude to ask a lady her age.

Demon appearance: A youngish looking woman in her mid-to-late twenties to early thirties, with shoulder length black hair and dark blue, vertical slit pupil eyes. She also has a pair of ribbed horns that emerge just behind her hairline, follow along her scalp, and curl around her skull to end halfway along her jaw in blunt points. All four of her canines are slightly elongated (nowhere near the length of a vampire's fangs, but still enough to be noticed when she smiles). She has a toned, slightly muscular physique and stands a little taller than an average human woman.

She has four-toed feet, with each toe ending in a short, blunt claw. Her hands are five-fingered, also ending in blunt claws. Each limb is covered in tiny greenish-black scales, which transition to human skin at the mid-upper limb along the outside (mid-upper arm and mid-thigh), and at the middle joint on the inside (elbow and knee). A prehensile scaled tail emerges just above her butt, approximately the same thickness as her leg and tapering to a blunt, slightly curved stinger. She can also adjust the sharpness of her claws and stinger, turning them into effective natural weapons, however they will be roughly as effective as normal animal claws or knives. A pair of amorphous black wings, apparently made from shadows, emerge from her back. These wings can alter their size and shape to suit her needs, though the absolute largest they can grow is twice her arm-span, and they are nearly indestructible.

Powers:

-Human Form: Talith is able to conceal her demon traits and masquerade as an ordinary human, through a combination of physical transformation and a magical glamour. The appearance of this transformation is more or less identical to her normal form, though this will change according to whether or not Talith wishes to be noticed. If she does not, then she will appear forgettably average, and onlookers will struggle to remember any details of her at all after looking away. She will also appear fuzzy and indistinct on electronic devices.

If she does want to be noticed, then her body will constantly make subtle adjustments based on her target's ideal preferences. This serves to make it easier for her target to become attracted to her, effectively making her look like the person's "perfect woman". Talith can also make conscious changes to herself according to her own desires. However, no matter what her appearance is, she will always have a pair of black wing tattoos running the full length of her back.

-Lust induction: As a succubus, Talith is magically engineered to inspire intense lust and arousal. Her body constantly produces a powerful aphrodisiacal toxin, which if consumed through her bodily fluids or directly applied via her stinger, will induce nearly uncontrollable arousal, as well as dampening the recipient's mental functions, making them more compliant and suggestible. In this form, the effects are exclusive to her; her target will effectively be oblivious to anyone else in the area unless she suggests otherwise. It is possible to resist the effects of the toxin, however it is rare for an individual to have that much willpower.

Additionally, she can convert this toxin into a pheromone that she can secrete into the air, however in this form it is much less potent and more easily resisted. In either case, the toxin will break down within a few hours without repeated exposure. This toxin can be utilized regardless of whether she is in demon form or human form, however injection via stinger is only available in demon form.

-Empathic feeder: Talith sustains herself by consuming energy from emotions. Any emotion can used, however she gains the most effects from tantric energy; in other words, feelings of lust or arousal. She can either feed off ambient emotions in her environment through her horns, which is slow but can be done without being noticed, or through physical contact with another entity/s, which provides greater sustenance but produces a greater strain on the participant, including the possibility of death. She is also acutely sensitive to what people around her are feeling, however this does not extend to full mind reading. If her horns are removed, then she is limited to feeding through physical contact, however given enough time her horns will eventually grow back. The larger her horns, the wider an area she can feed from.

-Shadow magic: like all demons, Talith has innate control over darkness. This allows her to hide and travel by melting into darkness, or creating tangible tools from it. She can also create shadow copies of other forms of magic that are directed at her, however as she is a succubus these copies will not be as strong as the originals. She can enter and manipulate people's dreams provided they are asleep, and can place an invisible mark upon their body to allow her to do this remotely.

-Flight: through a combination of magic and her own wings, Talith is capable of nearly completely controlled flight. This ability can be hampered if she is carrying other objects, and her absolute limit is anything equal to herself in weight.

Personality:

While Talith might look the part of an "evil demon" to human culture, she certainly doesn't act like it. All she really cares about is having a good time and making sure other people around her are having a good time. Kind hearted and usually willing to help others (as long as she is asked politely), she tends to get along with most people that she meets, and she is particularly protective of the employees who pass through her club, doing her best to help them achieve better lives.

She also has a somewhat unusual sense of humour, and a fondness for formalities. She loves to make people uncomfortable and exerting her dominance over them, usually by making them refer to her as "Mistress" when asking a favour. While she does have some pride in the fact that she actually does have a title (though one would have to do a lot of digging to prove it), she is not above using the same epithets in return when the circumstance calls for it. It's mostly just for her own amusement.

That said, she is a succubus, and so operates on a bit of a different moral compass than most humans. She does need to feed on people's emotions and sees nothing wrong with using her natural abilities to assist in this, though she will usually value consent unless she has gone for a prolonged period without feeding. She is also violently protective of her employees, and does not take threats lightly. Her formidable force of will, though rarely brought to bear, tends to make people want to obey her, regardless of whether she uses her powers to influence them or not.

History:

A few streets away from Edgetoun sits a club. This club has born many names, and served many purposes throughout London's history: a brothel, a pub, a gentleman's club. These days it functions as a strip club, under the name Angel's Embrace, and while it's not an extremely well-known one, since it tends to be a little more expensive than most others in the city, it remains moderately successful due to its better than average service and consistent clientele. However, what few of its patrons are aware of are the more deviant services offered beneath the club. Access to the "Devil's Den" is usually by invitation only to an exclusive membership, however on occasion the club's mysterious Mistress will permit its usage to adult entertainment companies, always under her indirect supervision.

The club is also known for its respectable treatment of its employees. Whether they are male, female, or something else doesn't matter; everyone is welcome, the pay is better than most other businesses of the same nature, and many who come from poorer backgrounds would even consider it to be a safe haven. It is not uncommon for former employees to return to the club in a different capacity, and some of the club's regular performers actually live there as permanent Doms and Dommes. For the opportunities that Angel’s Embrace provides, its openly accepting nature, and the genuine love and care exhibited by its Mistress, those who work at the club are loyal to a fault.

Because of the sordid nature of its business, the club's existence has long been controversial. More than a few attempts have been made to shut it down, however through some manner or another nothing has ever stuck, primarily due to many members of its clientele possessing influential positions in government or civil services. Even physical destruction of the property has failed to be sufficient; somehow, it would always find a way to be rebuilt. Fears that the club would attract other elements of the London underworld proved unfounded. Gangs that tried to move in to the area and claim the business would suffer losses of high ranking members under mysterious circumstances, and many criminals now hold the area as cursed. As far as most of London is concerned, Angel's Embrace and the Devil's Den is here to stay, in one form or another.

However, there is one other secret contained within its walls, one that only a rare few among the current and former employees are privy to. A secret concerning a particular bartender whose face people can never seem to remember, but nonetheless has apparently been there for as long as anyone can recall. One who seems to know EVERYTHING that happens in and around the club at any given time.

Just as Angel’s Embrace has always existed in London, so too has its Mistress, Talith. Originally created to be a guaranteed food source for herself, over time the club has evolved into her home, and a safe haven for the various pets under her protection and employ. Every hundred years or so she creates a new identity for herself to pass on ownership to, making it a “family business” in a manner of speaking. This is to ensure that questions aren’t asked due to the business never changing hands over the centuries. Over the span of her life on Earth, which is very long indeed, Talith has built up a modest fortune that allows her to live comfortably and take care of her business. One could also easily make the argument that she owns the entire street, due to her long history of investing in the businesses that surround her, although she will only ever claim ownership of Angel’s Embrace. To approach her club is to enter her territory, and she takes her position as Mistress of that territory very seriously. She has only a few rules outside of her more intimate relationships, but she always expects them to be followed, regardless of one’s identity outside of the club. Everything and everyone within the club is either her property or her pet, and she will protect what is hers from any perceived threat.

Angel’s Embrace is also one of the few places in the world where the existence of Others was already known prior to the public revelation. Talith has kept strict control over this knowledge, and only a rare few of her current and previous human employees are aware of it. As a result, it is not uncommon for some kinds of Others, such as vampires and demons, to frequent the club to take care of their needs, and more than a few kinds of Others are under her employ. Those few humans who are aware of this usually are or were in an intimate relationship with Talith herself, and assist in helping Others of their own free will.

However, as far as most humans are aware, Talith is just Tori, the current and beautiful owner of Angel’s Embrace and the Devil’s Den, watching over her domain from behind the bar. Pleasure is her business, and she is very good at what she does. It would not be too much of a stretch to say that the club is a modest monument to her power and history, and for as long as Talith lives, it will continue to exist in one form or another. The recent public revelation of the existence of Others has put her in an interesting position, but it is one that she fully intends to take advantage of. After all, it is a well-known fact that if it exists, there is a fetish for it.
