Adelfa looked at her old, beat up 2003 Cobra. The red paint was chipping as well as the tint on the windows. She was parked between several other race cars, feeling somewhat ashamed by her bucket. "Think I stand a chance?" she asked her brother.
"No, but hey, it's for the fun of it, right?" Calix asked, standing next to his car. It was obvious he was nervous about the races, even though they weren't for another day.
"Surprised you're so calm about this," Adelfa chuckled.
"If it's for your birthday..." Calix murmured.
Adelfa laughed out loud, "Then I make it up for your birthday too, right?"
"Definitely."
"Hey, look at that car," Adelfa said, pointing out the Mustang. She walked over to it, not waiting for her brother, and looked at the driver, "Hey, nice car."
"No, but hey, it's for the fun of it, right?" Calix asked, standing next to his car. It was obvious he was nervous about the races, even though they weren't for another day.

"Oh, I see," Helena said. She gently picked up Neric and placed him on her lap, hoping he would feel safer and more comfortable there. "I'm sorry you and James went through that with him. She didn't even want to say the name after what he did to a young girl, even if she didn't really know the details. "So what do you usually do for fun when you're out?" The sun felt nice against her back, she always enjoyed its warmth. "Do you like the sun, Neric?"
"Oh, I see," Helena said. She gently picked up Neric and placed him on her lap, hoping he would feel safer and more comfortable there. "I'm sorry you and James went through that with him. Helena's smile became wider when Neric rubbed against her hand. "So you're the only friendly Void you two know of?" Helena asked. "I'll remember Granger, don't worry." She wanted to ask more about Granger, but wasn't sure if that would overstep her boundaries. The girl instead opted to to ask, "So you two have met other Voids, right? What are they like? I know they aren't so friendly, so what do they do?"

Helena continued to pet the shadow cat. "Well, maybe it is your fault, but you don't have to worry about it too much. We all get scared and act in out instincts, whether what we did was right it wrong. Besides, no one got hurt, right? I'm not sure how Ceclia is feeling," Helena said and looked to the girl. Maybe people surrounding her right now wasn't what she needed. "But everyone else seems okay. I think James is taking care of Cecilia, everything is okay." She continued to pet the cat, even massaging his paws a bit. She always loved playing with animals and supposed her connection to them. "Oh you are just so adorable like this, Neric."

Helena ran her hand over Neric's fluffy fur. "Oh you're so adorable," she cooed, loving the feeling of the Void's fur. She looked up to James as the tears slipped down his cheeks. "It wasn't your fault," Helena said, though she could never be 100 percent sure of this. She wasn't sure in what ways James and Neric were connected, but that didn't matter. "Besides, I've been needing a reason to transform. So thanks," she said with a slight chuckle. She then looked back at the cat and chuckled, running her hand along his flank, "Thank you too, I know you were trying to help." In all honesty, Helena was glad to see Neric friendly again. If he hid in James's scar she wasn't sure if she would trust him much. "Yeah, I'll tell Cecilia, don't worry about it," she assured. The girl looked at her arm. It was slightly red from Edmond's ignition, but it definitely wasn't a burn. It was awesome seeing his powers in affect, even if that did mean he lost his favorite jacket. At least we know what he'll want for Christmas she laughed in her head.

"Oh Neric..." Helena said when the little shadow cat admitted his fears. She didn't know what happened with James and Neric, but whatever it was it traumatized Neric. "Maybe I overreacted too. We all her scared sometimes," Helena said. She held out her hand to the shadow cat, nonverbally asking for permission to pet him.
