@HaltingBlooper Do you think Emerald likes Spinel's new name for him?
I edited my post a little, wanted to get Emerald in the van without taking too long about it. Sorry, I can edit it again if you guys wanted to be more involved in the riveting, van-lowering action.
Spinel thought for a moment. She had been asked for a name, but she didn't actually know what her's was. A couple of the other gems seemed to have already determined what their names were on their own. She looked down at her elbow as much as she could without dropping Emerald by lifting it, and saw a clear gem. Would she be able to come up with a name for herself simply by thinking hard enough, as her new companions seemed to? ...No. In her mind, a name had to be more than just a random word. It had to mean something, help highlight her best qualities. She felt she had a good thing going with the naming conventions she'd been using, and didn't plan to stop now. "I've been going by Canyon Spirit for most of my life, but I can see now that that name isn't very suitable. You may call me Perceptive Clear." Spinel said.

"Also, Johnny, since you don't seem fully aware of this, it seems that Knowledgeable Aquamarine is the only one among us who can remember anything from very long before the recent battle." Spinel then faintly smiled and nodded at Zircon. "Thank you for helping us, Unassuming Black." Spinel slowly lowered Emerald into the van when they reached it. "Well, there you are. I suppose this is goodbye for now, Annoy-" no, she was making a concentrated effort to be more friendly, remember? "that is, Sturdy Emerald."
@Akayaofthemoon They seem to be pretty solidly using cartoon logic in the show, so there's probably nothing wrong with each gem learning in their own way. I mean, since Garnet and Amethyst have known each other for thousands of years and fought together, there's a pretty good chance that they've been able to form Sugilite for a very long time. The guy the gemstone is named after was born in the 1800s, so did she have a different name in the past or something?

@Loony Wow, you've already done some? That's pretty generous, I sort of feel bad that you aren't getting paid.
@Akayaofthemoon I love it too but I just kind of suck. Maybe I can start tracing or something in between posts when I'm on here, could be a good way to be productive when I'm waiting for stuff to happen.

Also, Spinel might just be beginning to think that her names for the other gems are their actual names.
Spinel was now back with the group, presumably with Howlite somewhere behind. "It is good to meet you as well, Johnny." Spinel said. "I agree with Obsessvive Blue and Unfriendly Yellow, it would be best if we did this quickly, and it will go faster of we work together. I myself will be of little help, but that doesn't mean I won't." She positioned herself so that she was opposite to Johnny, as least as much as she could be, and started to lift.
@Loony Oh wow that sounds freaking amazing. If you need anything to go off of besides the description I gave her, I imagined her being about 5 feet even, which I figured would make her pretty short although in this group maybe not :p. I Googled 'cute ghost girl' for visual aids but pretty much all the pictures were pretty childlike as opposed to the fairy-like appearance I had envisioned.
@Akayaofthemoon Yeah, that's what I've been thinking as well. I mean, I'm positive that there are less than 200 types of distinct gemstone, and the gems are heavily implied to be this huge, multi-planet spanning civilization that has fought in large-scale wars with heavy casualties. It's hard to imagine that being possible if your entire species is well under 200 members strong. Also, and this is fairly minor, Rebecca did a Reddit interview a while back and said this. I don't know, I think we have enough to go on to say that there probably is more than one type of each gem, but they probably haven't touched on this in the show because it would get confusing fast.

@Loony I've heard that too. What exactly are people basing that theory on? Sardonyx isn't all that yellow and is in no way a diamond.
I'm trying to sort some college related stuff out right now, it's been kind of tiresome, also I can't really think of anything to have Spinel do.

I have sort of been wanting to talk about something I'm a little apprehensive about. I'm assuming everyone here has heard the announcement that Sardonyx is appearing in the show, which is cool, but it got me thinking. I'm not really the betting sort, but if I was I'd probably bet money that Sardonyx is a fusion, that being Sard and Onyx. Don't we already sort of have an Onyx? Can there be more than one?
@Pathfinder Well damn, I wish I could do something to help. You've got my best wishes and all that stuff, to say the least.
