If you're not trying to romance the Pokemon, what's the fucking point?

Can't help but read 'woah' as a regular 'wuh', but 'whoa' as a deep, masculine 'HOO-AH!'

That's patently untrue. I planted some potassium the other day, and no matter how much I watered it, all I got was explosions.

...That's a girl? o_o Although considering the character, it's very suitable. Well done.
I'm not sure if this is fascinating or terrifying. O_O So many bunnies.
tobiax said Was I super vague

Yep

tobiax said They are rather different. That which moves, while not "aware" of it, does not seek perfect beings.

That's the thing. What exactly does it seek? Sure, it doesn't mind if it makes 'mistakes', but what's it trying to do that it makes 'mistakes' in the first place? It's starting to sound like something like a cross between the Tinkerer and the Unmigitated One. Does it try to create a stable ecosystem but not really put much effort into it? Or make an ecosystem that has a lot of loose-end type organisms that just exist in their niches and don't have much connection to anything (i.e. NPC ecosystems everywhere)? I recommend you rewrite it or choose another theme. :|

tobiax said Anyway, the RP's moving a mite fast... not sure I can keep with it, especially with no subscription system... I know I should read all the IC posts to see if they effect what I'd be doing, but I don't know if I'll be able to...

Not really, it's only a few posts so far. Like I said, mine was long so as to describe the nature of the Entities first. There's also the hider boxes to skim through if you're really that rushed.

yoshua171 said Meta? How so? I'm just going for something bizarre and unlike the other entities already created. It'll make a bit more sense later I suppose. It'd be a lot like a virus, kind of, that hijacks the DNA of the cells in other organisms and modifies them so as to reproduce themselves.Idk, I made the goal so that it's interesting and different, but also tweakable if it doesn't make sense or is the like.

So... It's pretty much the same 'try to create a singular ultimate species' idea, except it does so by stealing genes (not sure if that's a thing IRL but it can be here, if you can make it work), stealing the qualities of other organisms and assimilating them... Or like a virus, that tries to assert its own DNA over other species (absolutely no idea how that would work). All I'm thinking about is that it doesn't leave much for the entity itself to do, seeing as the species manages its own DNA either way. :|

Ed: Ok so I lost computer access halfway thtough a post, and it'll be up either within a few hours or tomorrw morning. Everyone just keep doing whatever it is you think you're doing. You can grow a further +5% if you so desire.

Similar topic, but my neighbours have a kitten now and it loves playing in my family's garden. Is cute and all.
Some changes to the first post finally finished, and new players added.

Ekirei said I think I'm going to have to drop out of this one. Work is picking up, and I have to study a bit more for a test coming up. Sorry

But but but I'll miss your signature. :( Goodbye, and good luck.

Ekirei doesn't look to be staying, so sure, this is good.

Might want to talk to Tobiax on this one. I like your take on it more though. For now it's in.

marcopolonian said Bleat

Genius! Glad to have you.

tobiax said That would be "make an ecosystem that in short makes sense"

Edit your sheet appropriately and find something to set it apart from SoulSerenity's goal and it'll be fine.

yoshua171 said Bleat

Hmm... Seems quite meta. I guess it's alright, though.

As for scientific accuracy, the general rule is: If it reads nicely and doesn't godmod, it's probably fine. Science is still desirable though. If your entity makes an adaptation, try to see if there's a similar thing in the real world to use as an example.

Kyelin said Posted.Hoping that making an extremophile wasn't too ambitious for first species, but it fits my Entity well.

It's fine and it does, but remember that life pretty much started with extremophilic bacteria, and simple cells are a lot more durable than complex ones, so wherever you go, they'll usually get there first. Still, this means that you can live with them symbiotically and/or use them as a food source. Have fun!

NOTES ON BEGINNING. Instead of starting at 100%, our spheres will grow slowly over the next few turns until biodiversity peaks, starting at ~5-10%. Edits to the sphere system OOC are still in progress.

The birth of your entity does not have to be anything like the Enclosing One's. It can be completely sudden and conscious. My post was long just so that I could describe the world and the nature of the entities. Probably too long, but meh. Intro. Anyway, no-one has to feel any pressure to write that much stuff into their intro post; You can pretty much ignore the first few paragraphs entirely.

Most of our early actions will be fairly similar, I'm assuming. Making rudimentary multicellularity, absorbing cyanobacteria to develope photosynthesis, becoming predatory, etc. Hopefully we'll get past that stage soon.

The little hider at the bottom of my post is just something I thought up so that we could all keep track of our spheres and what we did.

If players have questions, ask them before they start moving.

I need to go now. Be back in a few hours.
There was a 'before', and there was a 'now', yet the Entity had experienced no beginning. There was once a time when it had not existed, but that time had passed. The origin was irrelevant, and this Entity had no desire to think of such meaningless things. The Entity was, and that was all it needed to know.

The Entity had thought, but its mind was bound to nothing. It had emotion, or it would, in time. It had awareness of every kind, but it was not omniscient, because the Entity held a position, a presence. It could be here, or it could be there, and wherever it held its presence, it could observe its environment for kilometres around- But it could not be here and there. The Entity could move, if it wished to do so. Right now, however, the Entity did not wish to move at all.

There was light blazing towards the planet from a great sphere far away. The light twisted its way through a blanket of gas, and the Entity could observe that twist as a colour- First blue, then a magnificent orange, and then the sphere was out of sight and the blanket became dark, allowing all the blazing spheres that were far away to take their turn at illuminating the planet. One of them was very close, so close that it appeared to be the same size as the sphere this planet orbited, but its light was only a reflection of the sphere which some might call a Sun. Then the planet turned and the blanket of the Atmosphere was blue again, and the burning light came back, falling upon a vast liquid surface, penetrating the shallows wherein the Entity held its restful, ethereal presence.

The Entity had seen-without-eyes the light for some time now, but its attention was focused on something small, something resting on a bed of soaked, rocky mineral powder, just under the surface of the liquid Ocean. There were living things in the liquid, the Water, growing things by the million- So many that they tinted the ocean blue and green. They absorbed the burning light and powered themselves with it, and that was puzzling, but they did not interest the Entity. The growing units that held him rapt were many, many times larger, and more complicated. They were cells with many parts within themselves. They could not sustain themselves with the light from the sun, so they absorbed the little growing organisms that drifted and sank down around them. They called to the Entity, for it felt potential within them... But it did not know how they would become great, or when. So the Entity threw off their subtle spell, and left them.

No liquid, nor solid, nor gas could impede the Entity. It could move wherever it wanted to move, seeing all it passed by- and seeing much, for the Entity moved with great speed. It could fly through the Air as high as it wished, and it could dive through the Water to any depth. It could soar through the lightless Earth and Rock and taste their minerals. Mostly the Entity remained near the surface, circling every stone, every outcrop and mountain and fiery volcano. It found more living things, growing cells in their billions, but they were all simple and small, and none carried the same feeling of potential as the complex cells the Entity had left behind. And leaving behind was what the Entity disliked. It didn't want to move but to stay- To stay everywhere, to fill everything, to spread its presence over the entire planet, enclose it and never let it go.

The Entity flew, and many cycles of colour passed over the air. In time the Entity grew tired of the surface. It was magnificent, but it was barren. The rocks sat in their places until they crumbled, and the mountains were worn down by the wind. New rock flowed from volcanoes and new mountains were growing, but the Entity came to miss the complexity that the cells- its cells- had given to their shallow waters. So the Entity began to think, and within it a desire grew, a desire to change what it saw. Make it beautiful and complex and filled, every part of it, so that no place was ever empty of complexity, so that every place had a presence of life. Desire matured into a single, passionate Intent. With Intent came Power.

The complex cells had survived, but not changed. They lived, but they were inert. The Entity returned to them over stone and dust and water, drawn to them as if it had never left. As it flew it felt its desire congealing into energy, almost tangible energy, and the Entity immersed the cells in its power, becoming them, marking them as its own. It felt fitting... Perfect. The Entity could read the cells, now, read the single code that each one carried within it to be passed on to every new generation... And tweak it.

The Entity made mistakes, at first. Many cells died before the surviving code overcame its influence. It could make them form new strings of atoms, could make them do whatever it desired... If it was careful. But the Entity was careful, and determined. Days passed in their cycle of colour, and the sun and moon made cycles of their own, and the Entity learned how to craft its little colony. When it was ready, it introduced a simple new code into its adopted family, and this code held no mistakes. The cells began to produce chains of atoms, chains which bound each other together. Not in random clumps, for each cell clung to its brothers in the same perfect pattern that spread over the shallow sand. From a film to a layer to a small, soft mass went the colony; A mass that held a single, flat, branching pattern at every scale of its surface, that absorbed every simple cell that drifted onto it and spread its energy outwards to grow further.

Yes. It is good. The Entity had approved its first creation, and now that it had begun, it never wanted to stop. The task would take time, but the Entity would learn and grow in power and adapt itself, embracing every single nook and cranny of the planet with life, and holding presence there. It shall be done. The Entity was alone on this planet, and it would take the world as its own, becoming an enveloping, ruling force. This it accepted as its one and only Purpose.

From a nameless, aimless being, the Enclosing One emerged.
