Bio

Hello! I'm a 20 year old professional ballerina and aspiring writer. I will be attending college next fall, for a musical theatre degree, and I want to explore myself as a writer while I still have a lot of free time to write. I have been RPing since I was 13, when I started with a Harry Potter story, and I've been writing fanfiction and original work since not long after that. I consider myself to be a high casual/advanced RPer... once I start writing, it's hard for me to stop! I had an account on here many eons ago, but I lost it and decided to start anew. My fandoms include HP, Supernatural, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Firefly, Merlin, Chronicles of Narnia, LOTR, SAO, Fruits Basket, Ouran High School Host Club, Pokemon, Marvel, DC, and countless others. I also am highly interested in anything that involves medieval time periods, magical creatures and fairies, or time travel.

I really like the sound of the Kumiho storyline, but I'm not sure if I could do it justice. Your Thomas character seems very interesting too. I have a lot of spare time on my hands these days, and I want to brush up on my RPing skills; I've been doing a lot of original and fanfiction writing, but it's not quite the same as interacting with another writer. I like your writing style from what I've seen in The Wanting World and I'd love to start an RP with you; possibly Firefly? I have a myriad of fandoms I'm interested in. I also typically play female OCs and I do like romantic elements and fantastical/magical settings. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you're interested!
Name: Marieka Valentine

Age: 19

Personality: Marieka is generally soft-spoken, although her quiet nature should not be mistaken for shyness. She is always thinking, and has so many thoughts whirling around in her head at any given time that sometimes she finds it hard to focus on just one subject; which is why she prefers to listen more than she speaks. She has a dreamer’s heart, but is very realistic and self-sufficient. She used to wear her heart on her sleeve, but tended to be taken advantage of; so now, she masks her emotions instead of letting herself feel freely. Marieka hopes to someday find a romantic connection, but it’s not her first priority. In fact, she has learned to be cautious in the face of relationships, and finds it hard to let anyone in. She is intelligent, independent, intellectual, and introspective.

History: Marieka was an imaginative child. She loved Pokemon and fairy tales and stories, and was always drawing Pokemon and writing about the adventures she longed to have in some far-off place. Her father left when she was 13, leaving behind Marieka, her mother, and her little sisters, 5-year-old twins; as well as no explanation and no assistance. Marieka’s mother worked hard to give her daughters everything they ever needed, although Marieka’s perception of the world was deeply hurt by her father’s departure. She did her best to help her mom with the twins and with taking care of their little family, and learned to be compassionate and humble, although she also had intense experiences with self-worth issues, loneliness, anger, and sadness.

As it often does, tragedy struck at the worst possible moment. At age 16, when Marieka was doing extremely well in school with a career ahead of her as a Pokemon Doctor, Marieka’s mom fell ill. Everything fell on Marieka’s shoulders. She had to drop out of school and work three jobs to pay for her mother’s medical bills and her now 8-year-old sisters’ needs. She did everything she could to get her mother back on her feet and ensure a better future for her sisters than what she had wound up with. She didn’t know how she did it all, but she knew that she had to do for her family what her father had failed to.

Finally, her mom recovered, and things settled down. Marieka could finally breathe again. She realized that she wasn’t bitter about her lot in life; she didn’t blame anyone for what she’d had to go through. But as soon as her family was taken care of, she scraped together all of her savings and set out to start a new beginning for herself. Traveling away from home was something that was long overdue. Deciding at last on the Fordis Region, she left, ready to receive a Pokemon and start on the journey she’d dreamed of since she was a child.

The Quick-witted Pirate with a Gentle Heart

Valencia crossed her arms over her chest, leaning into one hip in a defiant stance. She could easily tell when someone wasn’t truly taking her seriously—that was something she’d dealt with her whole life, as a young, pretty female buccaneer.

Cináed, as he called himself, became less and less threatening the more he spoke. In fact, Valencia found herself feeling not quite fearful anymore... more like extremely irked by his amused smile and patronizing tone. Just who did this man think he was?

Still, there was no telling what sort of powerful abilities he could unleash upon them if he desired; even though that didn’t seem to be his intention. Cináed appeared to be perfectly content with making Valencia feel like the butt of a joke that was not particularly humorous.

She felt her cheeks glowering as he swept into a ridiculous bow, and added, “And I would never dare harm ones so fearsome as you two.” Cináed straightened up and took a look around, finally giving the girls an answer to at least one of Valencia’s questions by telling them the name of the nearby settlement.

Valencia refrained from scowling again, since she had a feeling that would just amuse this fancy-pants scoundrel even more. Instead, she raised her chin a little, showing that she was above his opinion of her.

“Valencia,” she told him reluctantly. “Valencia Tempest. You’ve told us the name of the village, but I want to know the name of this land, and if we are even still among mortal realms.” She raised her eyebrows, realizing that Cináed had said he knew how they got there, just not why. “And if you do, as you claim, know how we arrived, by all means; enlighten us,” she told him. “I’m sure Robyn here is just as curious.”

Valencia exhaled as she shook Robyn’s hand, and smiled slightly as the other girl accepted the truce and agreed with her notion to go towards the village. She was relieved to have at least made an acquaintance, if not a friend.

Her relief was short-lived, however, as a burst of flames sprang from the area where the burning creature had disappeared. The field of grass was reduced to ash, and Valencia instinctively pulled Robyn out of a particularly intense path of fire.

“Sorry,” she said, letting go of Robyn’s arm. She straightened up as the roaring blazes died down, brushing herself off while she stared, shocked, at the form of a man that had taken shape amid the flames. He had dark hair and eyes, and bits of fire seemed to flit along his skin, as though they were a part of him. This man wielded a glowing staff that was clearly sorcerous, and his clothing appeared to be both protective and decorative. The stranger muttered something to himself, seemingly annoyed, and then addressed her and Robyn.

“Ok, so how the heck did you all get here?” he asked in a gravelly sort of voice.

Valencia scowled, suddenly angry. She hated the feeling of having no power or control over what was going on around her. This fire-wizard could surely smite her to ash as easily as he’d burned up the field, so undoubtedly, there was naught her cutlass could do against him. She had no idea where she was, and with no way to protect herself, as she was so accustomed to doing, she was feeling more uneasy by the second. If this had been a different situation, one she’d deliberately gotten herself into, perhaps she would have been intrigued by or even mildly attracted to the tall, unique-looking man. But she was caught up in her turbulent emotions and feelings of anger, distrust, powerlessness, anxiety, and fear. She responded the only way she knew how—with her sharp tongue.

“How did we get here, you ask? Well, we certainly didn’t rise from the embers of a fiery fiend’s ashen remains,” she said curtly. Her fingers were itching to reach for the hilt of her cutlass, though she knew it would be of little use to her against this strange being. Perhaps I’m finally being punished for my way of life, she thought bitterly. “If you wish to kill us, get it over with; at least on my part,” Valencia called over to him. “I don’t mean to speak for you, Robyn. Do as you wish,” she said quietly. Then she raised her voice again. “But if you mean us no harm, surely you can give us some information; such as the name of this place and your own name, for that matter.”

Valencia folded her arms across her chest. Bishop had some good ideas, but she wasn’t sure she liked his tone, or the thought of following him around like some helpless young maid.

Her stubbornness got the better of her, and she stayed rooted to the spot, watching as the two men walked off toward the river. The handsome knight and the cloaked man appeared to be heading toward the distant village, and the man who had rushed past them all was running in a third direction.

“What do you intend to do?” she asked her remaining companion, the girl in strange garb. “As much as I hate seeking assistance, any locals might be the only scallywags who can give us some bloody answers. It may at least be more safe than traipsing into the wild forest, where more creatures could be waiting.” Valencia didn’t add that she hated the claustrophobic feeling of close-grown vegetation with hardly a glimpse of the sky above. Give her open waters and windy sea spray, and she was happy; or as close to happiness as she could be, with the kind of life she led.

Valencia extended a hand to the girl, offering a handshake. “Valencia Tempest, if you didn’t hear when I was telling that gun-toting blackguard. My apologies for drawing my blade so suddenly—I’m sure you understand why. It appears we both know nothing of this place or how we arrived. Truce?” she asked warily.
