I mean...cleansing herself with fire does sound like it'd make more sense than dipping herself in water. Then again, now I can make boiled chicken jokes.

And yeah, Arata wouldn't care, but Sorcha probably would. One day, Arata will get an anime fanservice scene, in which he just nods and continues on.
