[Akari Magus]
:Name:The great and wonderful Akari Magus! Is that my real name? Heavens no! But I liked the sound of it when I first came to this place, and darling, I'm sticking with it until I move on. Maybe I'll give you my true name if I like you enough. My assistant Kagami knows, but she knows almost everything about everyone- town gossip that she is. It's why I hired her!
:Age: It's sweet of you to ask, but I'm afraid I'm a bit too old for someone like you! Come back in 300 years and I won't feel like I'm robbing the cradle.
:Race: Angel, Kami, Spirit, they all kind of fit the bill. It all depends where you come from, honey. My kind doesn't concern ourselves with labels.
:DOB: December 18th. I love winter birthdays, don't you?
:Occupation: When there are enough students at the school, I like to work as a part-time Instructor in Defense Against Evil at Hishiro. Always nice to help the next generation come to their senses where sorcery and blood magic is concerned. Ever since the school closed up, I've been a full time caretaker at the Hishiro Magical Daycare Center. You'd be shocked how many dryads need someone to look after their little ones come summertime!
:Background:If you're asking for the whole thing, I'm afraid that's quite impossible. My watch says I've got 6 minutes until the little ones wake up and I'll have to get the bottles ready. Also, I don't lay it all out on the first date. I'm old, not
easy. But I can give you the time since the school last opened.
I came to Hishiro at the tail end of the magical conflict, when everyone was settling down and the big girls and boys were drawing up the peace. I came for the lovely kimonos, and stayed for the even lovelier children. A lot of young wizards and witches were left without family in the wake of the conflict, and while there aren't many of my kind walking the world, we do our part as best we can. So I called in some favors, made some concessions, and opened up my little daycare right next to the cutest little bookshop in the town. It wasn't an easy job raising orphans with the ability to defy the laws of nature, but I did my best and enjoyed the fruits of my labor as best I could.
Most of them thought I was some kind of arch-mage. A few caught on that I was not entirely human. But telling the truth invites more questions than I'm comfortable answering. Nowadays, I do the babysitting gig for the love of it rather than necessity. But now that I got this invitation to the school that's opening up as a part-time instructor, I can't wait to see what the newest generation is up to! And maybe run into some familiar faces all over again...
:Magic:Oh, well, magic. You'd guess from my race that I'm some sort of all powerful being who can command life and death in both hands, wave the laws of reality, and save the day single-handedly. Well... no. I'm mostly just good at being inconspicuous and the creation of
Heavenly Wards in a pinch. I can make two of them if need be. The first is the
Ward of Sight which came in handy during the magical war. If someone looks at a building marked with the ward and doesn't have magical ability themselves, then their eye keeps moving and they go on their way. They see the building, but they don't SEE the building, if you catch my drift.
The second ward I make is the
Repel Evil ward. Sometimes people summon nasty things to do their dirty work, and sometimes they have evil on their minds themselves. This one generally repels anyone with wicked intent from approaching a location. How does it feel? Spray yourself in the face with some mace, then describe it to me. What? Yes, use the whole bottle! You have to get the full effect.
:Magical Equipment:Usually I go everywhere with two things- a wand-sized paint brush for drawing my runes. And a Gucci diaper bag from my main job at the daycare- always have everything you need to do your job, but most importantly, look good doing it!
