-Caroline-
There was an ear-shattering explosion that jolted her awake, and as she rubbed the sleep from her weary eyes, she heard a few cries of what seemed like surprise and a general commotion arousing from around where the bar was. Caroline wanted to investigate, but she was tentative about it. What if all those rumors and stories that the others had deemed childish and superstitious were true? Caroline slipped on a thin shawl that didn't do much to stop the wind from reaching her bones and put a hesitant hand on the doorknob, poised to leave her house, but unwilling to. She slowly put on her shoes as the ruckus got louder and louder. It sounded like someone was...screaming? Screaming, or shouting, or something of the sort. Her heart fluttering like a hummingbird, Caroline stood there for a few more moments of indecisiveness before finally strengthening her resolve and twisting the door open.

What greeted her was far from what she expected. The racket had sounded closer than it actually was because it was just so loud. She hurried towards the area of where the noise seemed to be coming from, and stood on her very tiptoes to try to catch a glimpse of the hunched figure in the middle of the circle of villagers. A familiar-looking woman seemed to be pleading with him or her, and she helped him up, escorting him into a cottage. The villagers separated and made room for the woman and the strange, cloaked figure to pass through.

As the door to the woman's house shut, the villagers started murmuring and whispering to themselves. "What was that?" "Who was it?" "Could the stories be true? No...that's impossible!" "Cursed, I tell you! That godforsaken manor is cursed!"

But the one, single accusation that stuck in Caroline's mind as she ran back to the safety of her home was the most serious one of all. For as she had pushed her way out of the throng, the most repeated word had been: "Vampire!".
wait wraithblade i wasn't talking to you omg XD
uh up to you tbh dizzydisowned i don't really care
"Alright, it'd probably be easier on both of us, considering the state of my driving," Vanessa said laughingly in response to Heretic's comment. She watched as the other woman swiftly placed bombs on the undercarriages of what she presumed were the cars that belonged to the Four Horsemen, letting out a low whistle at the spotless quality of them. "Fancier than Ace's car," she remarked dryly, placing a hand on the red vehicle she had so clumsily driven to the parking garage. Remembering his threat if she scratched his car, she examined it from all sides. Fortunately, the drive had been mostly incident-free, though she noticed a scratch so minuscule that it took her a full two minutes to even catch sight of it, and it was at the very bottom. Hopefully, just hopefully, Ace wouldn't be too angry about it. After all, Vanessa had warned him!

Hearing Chimera's voice in her earpiece brought Vanessa back to reality. She shrugged at Genesis's inquiry. "Looks like you have your answer," she said. "Third floor, yes? Shouldn't be too hard to get up there, but getting in will be a challenge. And yeah, I wouldn't imagine too many locked doors until we get up there. If there are, well, I guess we've got Heretic."

Vanessa turned around, spotting an elevator to take the trio up to the ground floor of the casino. She pointed at it, calling it to the others' attention. "Should we get into the casino from there? Or would it better to use the main entrance, or a side entrance? I mean, we aren't exactly very noticeable, but I wouldn't say that we're discreet either, especially given the nature of Genesis's....genetic makeup," she said, waiting for the others to reply.
-Alex-
He stiffened upon hearing the slightly slurred voice bellowing up from the tree. Craning his neck, Alex squinted into the shadows of the branches, trying to locate the source of the voice. Though he couldn't see much, he could hear the man-at least, the speaker sounded relatively male, and a bit drunk at that. He seemed to be mumbling to himself, and Alex could not discern what he was saying. Swallowing hard, his mouth suddenly as dry as a desert, Alex replied challengingly, "What is it to you?".

Alex stood up, and scrabbled around the underbrush for something to use as a weapon if the need arose. Coming up with nothing but a sharp stick, he gave up and instead looked up into the darkness, again attempting to pinpoint the man's location. This time, he could just barely make out the shape of his form crouched in the dying leaves of the tree and the branches.
^^^ lol i wasn't talking about your character in my post, but it doesn't matter haha

Alex narrowed his eyes as he watched the flames, feeling an intense anger boil under the surface. Beside him, the carriage driver seemed a bit anxious, and the other hunters were either panicking or as calm as ever. Seeing as no one was paying any attention to him, Alex slipped away from the group, unnoticed. He seethed silently, determined to find the vampire that decided it'd be funny to light the manor on fire. Though he had kept on a mask of nonchalance back inside the mansion, in reality, Alex was a major hothead-but he would never admit it, always calling Margaret the one with a temper (which was true).

He'd tried to make a good first impression on the Kingsleys, but that could all go to hell when there was a vampire on the loose somewhere out there. He moved swiftly through the underbrush, making his way back to the path before continuing along the edge of it, with one foot in the forestry and one foot on the beaten down dirt. Alex knew he wasn't a very quiet person, but hopefully, with all the commotion, the vampire wouldn't be too quick to notice Alex coming up upon him. He had no weapons, but that was fine. He could improvise, or use his bare hands.

Alex was so overly confident about taking on a vampire for the first time outside of London that he didn't notice the rustling up on the tree above him. When he finally did notice it, he was already far, far away from the flames. It was considerably smaller in the distance than it was up close. Alex doubted that any of the hunters who had evacuated knew of his absence. He was on his own, and the very idea of it was thrilling.

As he slowly turned around, Alex's heartbeat began to quicken. With fear, or anticipation, he did not know. He peered into the shadows of the foliage, but everything was still. Frowning, Alex looked for a way to climb up the trunk of the tree, but he found none. He exhaled slowly, so as not to draw the attention of the vampire that could potentially be hiding there, and settled down to wait for day. After all, the vampire had to come down sometime, and it had to be before the sun was up.
sorry i haven't been posting much, been a bit busy
-Greta-
Greta jolted as a huge explosion filled the air, her eyes instantly finding the source of it. Greta had set out on a worn pathway in the direction of Kingsley Manor, as one of the townsfolk had directed her. "Just go straight down the dirt path by the bar," the man had said pleasantly. "You'll find it after a good long walk." Of course, the 'walk' there hadn't been very long at all, due to her naturally enhanced speed.

Greta had been hiding in the foliage, keeping well out of sight in the black night. But as the fire lit up her vision, she shielded her eyes from the blinding brightness. Letting her pupils adjust, Greta took a good look at the burning manor. The front portion had already fallen victim...already, a horde of who Greta presumed were the manor servants carrying buckets in an attempt to douse the inferno. Obscured by the shadows and the trees, Greta stayed still and analyzed what that could mean. Though she wasn't as perceptive as Stella, Greta had a head on her shoulders and she used it quite often.

One-someone, human or vampire, had located the manor. Two-they wanted to kill or potentially harm the hunters. Three-that was exactly what the vampires of London wanted. However, try as she might, Greta couldn't find the mysterious being who had somehow caused the explosion. There was too much light, and there were too many people who could've done it. Sighing in disappointment, Great settled further into the shadows and watched the manor burn.

A huge boom pierced the still night air, followed by screams, abruptly ending the meeting that had been taking place. The carriage driver burst into the room, distraught. Upon seeing Katherine Kingsley glowering at him, the young man bobbed his head before looking up with wide eyes. "M-ma'am, the front of the manor is on fire," he stammered out. Well. That was an unexpected turn of events. As Katherine began barking out orders, Alex cast a glance at Delilah. He gave her a nonchalant shrug that hid his uneasy feeling before turning back towards Katherine and the rest of the hunters.

They were ushered up a flight of stairs, and Alex noticed that several servants were working furiously to contain the inferno. Already, flames were licking at the opulent decoration of the front hall, having already demolished the door and part of the wall. Katherine Kingsley and her husband, Philip Kingsley, were nowhere to be found. Alex noticed the carriage driver beckoning them to the servants' entrance, which had escaped the fire-for now. Alex hurried to him, and the young man led him and a few other hunters outside and away to the relative safety of the woods. His heart pounding rapidly in his chest, Alex watched with bated breath as a fleet of servants lugged buckets of water to the fire, attempting to put it out.
