Maria nodded carefully after Agent Wingate had finished speaking, noticing the different emotions that seemed to be warring for dominance within the older agent's eyes. "Thank you," Maria said politely in response, though what she was thanking Integra Wingate for was unclear. Glancing around the now-empty room, Maria realized that everyone else was already in the simulation. Apparently, they were to track down a siren. Maria had met a few in her time, and although they were not too horrendously deadly, they were definitely a pain to subdue (especially with male partners).

"A siren, huh?" Maria wondered aloud, to no one in particular. Maria was halfway expecting an answer from Ruvik, but she figured he'd remain silent because Maria was just babbling like she usually was. It did feel like she had some kind of link to the stoic anomaly, but Maria didn't know how she felt about that. Come on, she thought to herself, he barely ever talks! That's gonna be a bit dull. Remembering what Agent Wingate had told her about how their minds were connected, Maria flicked her gaze guiltily over to Ruvik.

"Sorry," she apologized hastily, not used to other people having access to her thoughts. "It just....kinda slipped..." Maria trailed off while making a vague hand gesture, her sentence hanging awkwardly in the air like a wingless bird. To Maria, the silence was overbearing, and the tension permeating the room was palpable.

This really isn't gonna work, Maria contemplated, frustrated. Everything about how Wingate treated Ruvik was so damn formal. I can't pull off anything like that. Maybe I could just converse with him like he's an actual human being. That would make it easier on me. Oh! I still need to remember to not leave loopholes or whatever. Yes, I can do that.

Fully aware that Ruvik had known every sentence that had just flitted through her head, Maria put on a cheery smile and turned to him. "So, a siren. How 'bout that? I hope you're immune to her voice, seeing as you have no gender...right?" Maria cocked her head to the side slightly and studied Ruvik's blank face, waiting for him to reply.

Hopefully this isn't a complete bust.
Maria barely had the time to blink before Ruvik's hands pressed firmly against her forehead and at the nape of her neck. She caught a glimpse of the intricate tattoos painted all over his skin glowing a deep crimson-So that's what happens they do, she managed to think-before a slight pressure began to build up in her head, which escalated in the span of a few seconds. Visions of death and catastrophe flitted quickly past her, leaping and twirling away as she tried her best to focus on what the hell was happening; which was easier said than done with the pain searing through her brain. A split second of the most intense and horrific pain Maria had ever known radiated through her head, and it was over. She stumbled backwards, gasping for air.

"Miss Martinez the bound between you and Ruvik has been sealed. You now have a connection with him that extends past words." She said before Ruvik approached her. He quickly did the same thing he did to Maria, his hands on the woman's head and his tattoos glowing. As the moment quickly came to a end and Ruvik released Integra she staggered slightly, holding her head. "...L-Like I was saying." She managed to say as she steadied herself. "The connection you now share with Ruvik bounds him mentally to you. Your thoughts are now connected to his. Whatever you wish him to hear or see you simply must think to him."

Maria blinked a few times and struggled to comprehend what Agent Wingate had just told her, still distracted by the lingering aftereffects of the bounding ritual. She nodded after the older agent's final statement, though a thousand and one questions still clouded her mind. "Does he have to do everything I tell him to?" Maria asked cautiously, a bit unsure of how she would like working with Ruvik. It seemed like a tiresome job, but someone had to do it. Maria had an uneasy feeling as to why she was selected, but it appeared like the Omega had made his decision awhile ago. There was nothing else that she could do now, anyway, seeing as the ritual had already been completed.
Maria watched as Agent Wingate gave Ruvik his final orders, noting how she made sure to leave no loopholes for Ruvik to act upon. In all her experience with the supernatural, she'd never met someone as.....powerful as Ruvik, and Maria wasn't sure what partnering with him would mean. She eyed the numerous tattoos swirling across his skin curiously, wondering what in the name of god those things did. It was also quite unnerving, the way his features and voice were always so, so monotone, like he didn't have emotions. Well, maybe that was the case, but Maria believed that deep down inside everyone has some form of emotion, whether it be as simple as fear or the desire for survival.

"The bounding is a rather unpleasant experience. Do tell me when you have prepared." Ruvik said, his expression still remaining blank. "It only last a moment Agent Martinez." Integra added.

Maria gulped almost unnoticeably, and upon hearing that the simulation was to start in a few minutes, nodded. Best to get this over with, then she could question Omega on why she out of all people was chosen to work with Ruvik. "I'm ready," she said, straining to keep her voice from wavering. Maria had no idea what spending time with Ruvik would be like, but if he was always so indifferent about things, it would be a bit discomforting. Maria was a born chatterbox, and Ruvik was so...silent. How in the world would they cooperate with each other? Maria mentally reprimanded herself for getting distracted again, and redirected her focus to the woman and anomaly in front of her. Agent Wingate had said the "bounding ritual" or whatever would only take a moment, and hopefully that was the case. Maria was not too certain of what Ruvik was implying by calling it an "unpleasant" experience, but Maria had pulled through many unpleasant experiences. She was crossing her fingers that this would not be as harrowing as Ruvik was making it out to be.

Taking a deep breath, Maria erased all the uncertainties from her mind. Facing Ruvik and Agent Wingate, she waited for the ritual to start.
yeah i'm good with moving along, but tripwire's charrie is just stuck down there with the infiltration team so not sure what to do about genesis-do we assume that he makes it out alive?
Maria listened attentively as the Omega told the group the new partner assignments. She furrowed her brow slightly upon hearing that she was to be paired with Ruvik. What? Maria was almost certain that the Omega did not think very highly of her and her gossipy tendencies, so why would he be assigning her to work with such a dangerous individual? The whole thing made no sense to Maria. As she contemplated the dilemma of sorts, Maria glanced at the other people assembled there, her curiosity with the Omega's decision piquing a renewed sense of interest for the others. Surely the Omega was more keen on at least one of them, so why had he chosen Maria of all people to partner with such a dangerous creature?

However, Maria didn't get a chance to deduce the Omega's intentions before Agent Wingate approached her. Maria could feel the older woman's gaze raking across her face, her piercing eyes grave. "It is a pleasure to meet you Agent Martinez." , the senior agent said to Maria in a stiff tone. Maria gave her a polite smile in response, a huge contrast to her usually unrestrained grin. "That goes to you too, Agent Wingate," Maria responded just as formally.

"As you have heard you have been chosen to be paired with Ruvik, but before I give his reins to you I need to assure you understand the true gravity of this burden." She said before her expression grew slightly darker. "Though he may appear to be one Ruvik is no man. He is not a companion to be trusted, he is not a servant to be relied on, and he is not a slave to be pitied. He is a tool the BSA uses, with great caution, to fight the forces that would threaten the masses." She said, her tone deadly serious. "And you will now be the one to use this tool, do you believe in all honesty that you are ready for this task?"

Maria nodded carefully, all traces of mirth erased from her countenance. "Thank you for informing me on the...true nature of Ruvik. I assure you, I do not underestimate the potential capabilities of the creature."
