Wendy had just finished her shift at the local children's hospital when her cell phone began to ring. She paused while packing up her belongings in the employee room and immediately checked her phone, a force of habit she'd developed shortly after joining The Big 5. The message was short and succinct-get to the mansion as soon as possible, from Electrik. Wendy raised an eyebrow as she busily stuffed the rest of her things into her tote bag, her pace considerably faster than before. It looked like she wasn't getting that sushi she was craving for dinner.

Wendy quickly made her way to the bathroom and changed out of her work uniform, stuffing that into her bag as well before emerging wearing a pair of skinny jeans that were surprisingly stretchy and a green t-shirt. She slung her tote bag over one shoulder and briskly walked out of the employee area of the children's hospital, giving a co-worker a small wave as she left. Had the League of Chaos struck during the day, while Wendy was busy working? She stepped out of the building and into the crisp air, breathing in the scent of the outdoors and glancing up at the sky, which was a pale grey color. Wendy was suddenly thankful that she'd decided to wear flats instead of high heels that day; it would be much easier to run in flats, although she was quite adept at running in heels too.

As she expertly navigated the streets of New Horn City, Wendy reflected on the other members of The Big 5. The other superheroes all had powers that packed quite a punch-Electrik could control electricity, as his hero name suggested, and Pendragon could create as well as manipulate swords. Then there was Osiris, who could control fire. But Wendy couldn't do much in a fight. Sure, her speed was useful and all, but she couldn't do that much actual damage. Wendy didn't mind though; she loved her power to heal. Her primary battlefield was the hospital and the sickbed, not the streets of New Horn City.

Wendy reached the subway station and bought a ticket before catching the subway that would bring her fairly close to the mansion headquarters. It was too big of a risk to use her super speed out in open daylight, and Wendy didn't have a car. During the subway ride, she scrolled through multiple news websites on her phone, checking for news of 'accidents' or break-ins that could be attributed to the League of Chaos. Cursing her perpetually slow data service, Wendy let her mind wander while she waited for a website to load. The heritage festival would be in a few days, and Wendy had decided that she going to attend if she could. It was always fun to get out of her apartment for a while. However, The Big 5 came before almost everything, so if Electrik said that something needed to be done, Wendy would skip the heritage festival and wait till next year.

When the news website finally loaded, Wendy eagerly scanned the headlines. A couple car accidents, a fire, and a break-in caught her attention. Upon further investigation, Wendy concluded that the car accidents were merely accidents, the fire was because of a careless office worker, and the break-in was the only one that could actually be associated with the League of Chaos. She reread the article for the third time-about seven or eight hours ago, someone had broken into the local laboratory and stolen some chemicals. They had almost no suspects, and nobody could say who did it for sure, or what their motives were. Interesting.

Wendy looked up, realizing that she was at her stop. She stepped off of the subway and rode the escalator back to the city street, then briskly made her way to the mansion that served as The Big 5's headquarters. She let herself into the large, spacious house, breathing in the familiar scent of new paint that never seemed to disappear. Then, she went to the library and found the secret elevator that led to the underground area. She punched a few buttons and the doors slid open seamlessly. Wendy stepped into the elevator and waited until she heard a small ding. The doors opened again, and she strode out into the narrow hallway, turning a corner and opening the door to the briefing room, where Electrik was sitting at the round table on his phone.

"Hey, what's up?" Wendy asked by way of greeting, sitting down as well and setting her bag down. It was time to get to work.
