Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Interested as well. I'll see if I can't get in on this.

What's up man? Can you please edit your two new characters into your post located in the Characters tab? It took me a bit to find your character in order reference it in my writing. As the OOC section grows, that will just become more of a pain.

Thanks.
Phantom's appetite for destruction was sufficiently quenched by his/her latest actions. Due to this, the image of him/her self that he/she decided to project was the calmer, but still twisted male version.

So 'he', as 'he' could temporarily be refereed as, decided to make his way to the base's common room. He floated effortlessly through walls and floors as he made his way toward his destination. With each passing through electrical equipment, he would absorb a bit of energy, making nearby lights flicker; the result was a fairly dramatic approach.

Along the way, Phantom caught a glimpse of the zombie like man, Necron. This did not interest Phantom in the slightest, as Necron had never presented him with any sort of entertainment, nor did he seem to be held together by traditional energy sources. No, he was on a mission to find the Mad Merman. If he did not find him within a few hours, he might turn into his much more hostile female form. In which case, he, or she at that point, would have to leave the base to satisfy her cravings on her own. But that's not what Phantom truly wanted, Dr. Frosner's plans were always much more grand and destructive than anything he could ever think of on his own.

As Phantom passed through the final wall, he laid eyes on a young boy. He had seen this boy around the base, he was sure of it, but the only thing he knew about the kid was that he had far too much life energy emanating from his body. While not a target, due to his affiliation with the Zeta Squad, this extra life energy always peaked Phantom's appetite. He couldn't help it, any time he was stuck in the same room as this boy, Phantom was forced to glance over frequently, at times even staring. This was one of those times as there was no one else in the room.

Phantom stuck close to the wall he had emerged from in order to slowly drain it of electricity which would help maintain his own energy levels and calm his nerves from being in a room with such an intriguing meal... person... intriguing person.
Ricardo was struggling between a sense of wonder and a sense of panic. This world seemed 'too good to be true' as the old saying goes. His original guess of this being a dream was becoming less and less likely; this was far to vivid and consistent. He was now sifting through other possibilities, still shuffling behind the small holographic man.

Lost in thought, Ricardo was caught by surprise when a masculine looking man in comfortable street clothes ran up to him. Ricardo stopped to listen to what the man had to say, while Adam had already turned around, halfway lifting a hand towards the man in anticipation.

"Hey, it looks like you're new here. I'm new as well, but I already changed my clothes. Do you have any idea what's going on, and who is that you're following?" He pointed to Adam, not knowing anything about him.

As the man spoke, Adam's hand lowered. The man seemed just as clueless as Ricardo. There was no need to distrust him. Ricardo replied honestly, "Hi. Yeah, I'm new here too. As for who I am following, this is Adam. He's a some sort of artificial intelligence hologram. Apparently, anytime you need a little navigating help, he will appear. As for what's going on... that's a good question." Ricardo then turned to Adam, "What is going on Adam?"

"You have both arrived here today, and I am currently taking you to find new clothing."

"No Adam, what I mean to ask is, 'where is here?'.

"Please elaborate your question further."

"What is this city? What's it's name? Where is it in relation to my home?"

"This city is a city. It does not have an official name; inhabitants call it many different names. I'm afraid I am unable to answer your third question."

Ricardo was surprised by how much this Adam character was giving away. He could hardly believe that it didn't strike him before to ask the all knowing computer program. But his last response was disturbing, "Wait, what? Why can't you answer my question?" Ricardo was starting to feel slightly rude, talking to the hologram rather than the man that approached him directly. But if this guy was new as well, Ricardo was sure that these questions were also on his mind.

"I have no knowledge of anything outside this city."

"Then you don't know where I am from or how I got here?"

"I do know where you are from. I do not know how you got here."

"But you just said that you have no knowledge of anything outside this city. Then how do you know where I am from?"

"I have knowledge of everything inside this city; you are inside this city. Therefore, I know everything that you know."

Ricardo hesitated before asking his next question. "Can you read my mind?"

"I scanned your mind upon your arrival. I can do an update scan if I see the need. Currently I see no need."

Ricardo turned away from the hologram, almost in disgust. He would make it a point to interrogate the little guy later, but for now, he was through with questions. Looking back to the man that approached him, Ricardo apologized, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ignore you. My name is Ricardo. What's yours?"
@Classpet

Nice IC post. We have our first effort at collaboration! I like it!
It was supposed to be simple, just walk strait for about six blocks through two neighborhoods. The Mexican merchant should have warned Ricardo about the second neighborhood. The streets here were laid out in anything other than 'blocks'. They would be better described as a maze, straight out of Venice, Italy.

Just like Venice, there were merchants and buggers shouting out for attention. Except, the merchants were practically shoving their products onto people while the buggers did the same with their art work. The effects of it all were quite dizzying.

When Ricardo finally escaped the madness, he found himself in some ancient Greek neighborhood, complete with toga wearing pedestrians. Spotting a stone bench, he decided to take a break. He looked quite pathetic as he sat there, curled over with his face in his hands, ppondering about how he could have arrived in this strange place.

"Hello Ricardo, you seem lost. May I be of assistance to you?" The man's voice sounded strange, like a person speaking through a microphone. Ricardo brought his face out of his hands and immediately sat up straight in surprise. Floating in front of him was a hologram of a man, just like in the movies. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. Can I be of assistance?"

Ricardo stuttered out his response, "Wha-, who are y-you?"

"My name is Adam. I am artificial intelligence program designed to help all inhabitants of this city. I notice you seem to be lost, may I assist you in finding your way?" If this was actually ancient Greece, the sight of a floating glowing man should have caused a panic. Instead, the people passing by would simply glance over with mild amusement.

"Um, yes... I guess. I spoke with a man earlier about finding a place that has clothing I would like. He gave me directions, but I got lost." Ricardo felt weird talking to Adam, a feeling that would not subside anytime soon.

"I have found your conversation with the merchant in my data banks. It seems your destination is quite a ways away from here. If you would like, I can lead the way."

"Y-yes. That would be helpful." Adam stood up slowly, uneasily.

"Okay, follow me."

Adam turned his holographic back to Ricardo and started gliding through the air, slowly. Ricardo followed closely behind, still dumbfound by what was happening. This place was getting weirder and weirder by the minute.
Oh man. That always sucks. We've all been there before. Also remember that the character's background is far less important than the personality in this case, as skills wont necessarily transfer over well.
Static Character

Remember, your character's exp points must be equal to or above a static character's exp level in order to interact with them. Also note that all experience points are modified in the first OOC post. You may then edit your own character sheet to reflect those points.

Name: Adam
Exp Level: 1

Appearance: Adam is a 1 foot tall, blue floating hologram that can appear anywhere in the city.

Encounter:
After your first introductory post, you will be awarded your first exp point. On your second post, Adam is subject to appear, seemingly out of thin air. Everyone in the city can talk to their very own copy of Adam, but he is not seen around every turn as most people that have been here long enough have no more need of him.

Function:
Adam serves as an AI that can help you traverse this grand mysterious city in which your character has awoken. He can locate any public location and any person whom your character has already met, provided the target is inside the city. He will also answer any questions your character may have so long as the question has absolutely nothing to do with anything outside the city. If you do ask anything about the outside world, he will respond with the same static answer, "I'm sorry. I am unable to answer that question." Aside from his inability to answer questions about the outside world, Adam is also limited by what you know. Consider him a means to let your character learn things that you know about the city.

Besides being something of a super navigator and limited help desk, Adam also serves a greater function. While weapons can be collected for sake of collecting, all fighting inside the city is prohibited. At any sign of violence, Adam will instantly appear and hold out a hand. A ray of blue light will cover your character's body, draining him/her of energy, enough to make him/her temporarily immobile. He will then say, "I'm sorry. I can not let you act in this manor. Please calm down." He will not stop shining the light until all signs of hostility cease.

Okay guys and gals, I don't know about you, but I'm starting to get itchy writing fingers. I have a problem when I have to go more than 3 days without posting. I am going to go ahead and release the hounds. Everyone that has a cleared character sheet may go ahead and continue posting in the IC.

But before you get started, please go back to the opening OOC post and check out the rules at the bottom. I lengthened the time requirement for how long you should wait between each of your posts. I did this not just to benefit our two that are a bit behind, but to benefit all of us in the future. If for some reason any of us have to take a couple days off, and this time constraint wasn't in place, then you could potentially come back to a mountain of writing to stumble through and catch your character up with. With a larger time constraint, you might have a handful to catch up on, but not remotely the same amount.

I'm going to start working on my next IC post now, but nobody has to wait on me (unless 2 people haven't posted since your last post yet).
@Balthazar007 I will, at one point make a CS sheet. A new character.

One question, you said they can only live in the present year or past ones. Does that mean they can't come from different dimensions?

I hope it's not dissapointing, but no, characters should come from our known universe and demension. All sci-fi comes as you play along, not before.
