Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

It can be anything. If you feel confident in your writting, confident enough to accurately describe and dramatize firey snake spiders, then go for it. It's all up to you.
Dim florescent light started to fill the room. The light came from small bulbs in each of the four corners, where the walls met the ceiling.

This dim light revealed two important factors. The ceiling was low, easily touchable without stretching, and the floor was wet. The wetness seemed to be moving, as Ricardo noticed that in the bottom corners of the room water was leaking inside. At the rate the water was entering, the room would be full to the ceiling in about 30 minutes.

Ricardo was already starting to freak out. He'd always had a fear of drowning, and was a horrible swimmer. But even if he could swim, the water would eventually leave no room. The man said he couldn't die. So what would happen when the water filled his lungs? Would he pass out and wake up later,or just stay on the edge of consciousness with a pounding suffocating headache?

As the minutes passed, he tried to contain his horror, assuring himself that this would all be over eventually. It would be worth it. Just as he started to feel some semblance of confidence returning, something brushed against his leg.

It hadn't even occurred to him that there could be something under the water. But when another creature slid along his forearm, there was no longer any doubt. There was at least one snake swimming around in the water with him. There could easily be more.

Soon his heart was fluttering at an inconceivable pace. The water was up to his shoulders, and multiple times, snakes had surfaced close to his face, while others crawled around on his body.

Ricardo's former resolve had been shattered. There was no way this could be worth it. Silent tears fell down his face as he tried his best not to sob like a schoolchild.
Oops. I accidentally lied. How about I write something right now. :)
I just got home from work. Ewe to closing down a restaurant, lol. I'm going to make my next post in the morning. Don't feel the need to make your posts too similar to mine. We are all individuals here.

:)
Grey appeared beside Ricardo and spoke to him. He seemed to be questioning Ricardo's resolve, but this did not upset Ricardo. He was sure that the look on his face was anything but confident.

Ricardo turned his head slightly toward Grey but kept his eyes on a door with his name spelled out in gold. "Well, just because I'm prepared to walk through hell, doesn't mean I'm happy about it." He then turned his entire body to face Grey, reaching out a hand to tap him on the side of the shoulder. "Alright, just in case I don't see you again. Goodbye. It was great to meet you. I hope we meet up later though."

After their goodbye, Ricardo walked as calmly as he could to the door labled with his name. It was obvious that this was where he was supposed to go, no use turning back now. Opening the door revealed nothing but a dark empty room. As he stepped inside, he looked around for a light switch near the entrance. There didn't seem to be anything of the sort.

After a moment, he gave up on his search for light and decided to shut the door, looking back into the hallway as he did so. With the door now shut, only the darkness kept him company.

I saw that you put 17 and 18 on your last post. I'm glad that you understood that the quest rewards double points. But I'm not going to start awarding double points until your character actually enters the named door inside the bright hallway.
Standing with Grey, it was not long before two girls entered the room. One was older and dressed in modern clothing while the other was quite young and dressed with a more classic tone.

Before Ricardo could greet the two new arrivals, a man started speaking through some sort of intercom that couldn't be placed within the room. It became apparent that this voice was only a recording very quickly, though the younger girl did not seem to catch that. Perhaps she came from the past like Grey and didn't know of recordings.

The most disturbing part of the recording was the mild assurance that no one would die if they chose to advance. When the only solice you can offer is 'Don't worry. You won't die.', there is something wrong with that picture. But Ricardo had already made up his mind.

When the wall on the other side of the room opened, the little girl sheepishly called out for support. Ricardo felt the need to comfort her, but at the same time did not want to encourage her to do something that she would regret.

Turning to the little girl, Ricardo spoke sincerely. "Hey, you don't have to do anything you don't want to. In fact, I would probably turn back if I was your age. There are probably some pretty nasty things in there." Taking a step backwards to face everyone in the room, the light to his back, Ricardo tried to sound brave. "That goes for everyone. Nobody is making you go forward. And there is definitely some bad things ahead. As for myself, I can't keep on not knowing what is going on. I'll walk through hell if I have to."

By the end of his little speach, his voice had become slightly shakey. Not waiting for a response, Ricardo turned back around toward the light. He took a couple steps forward before hesitating in the face of the doorway.

Would there be any way back if he kept going forward? Would it be better to not know the answers to his questions and live happily in the Utopia above? The questions were nagging, but he had already made his decision. He would go forward.

But there was no rush, he supposed. At least that's what he told himself as stood there, frozen in the light.
Yes. We are all in the same room. I'll have time to create a Ricardo post tomorrow. I work a double at work today.

The Casino Trials

Quest Requirements:

Your character must have followed the static character Evette to the casino described in her character sheet. After passing through the large metal door at the back of the casino, this quest will begin.

Quest Details:

On the other side of the large metal door lies a pure white room. The door will close behind you, and there will be a long moment of silence.

A disembodied male voice will break the silence. To those that are familiar with voice recordings, it will be obvious that the voice is just that, a recording. Below is his message:

"Welcome. I am glad you have came. By following the red girl, you have chosen to not be complacent. You have shown the curiosity needed to discover the truth about this world. But your journey has just began.

"The world outside the city you have arrived is nowhere as forgiving. Beyond this room lies a series of trials that will test your resolve and harden your heart. I assure you that your life will never be in danger, due to the miraculous healing powers of this land. But that is all I can garuntee. If you are ready to face the truth, please step forward. Otherwise, turn back now."

Toward the end of the recording, a door shaped recess opens in the wall ahead, revealing a blinding light. Your character may either walk forward into the light, or you can turn back, push on the door you came from, and exit through a side door in the casino.

If you walk into the light you will find yourself in a brightly lit hallway. All throughout this hallway are black doors with names written on them in simple white lettering. The only door that will open for your character is the door with your character's name. There is also an invisible wall stopping anyone else from passing through your doorway.

The room you enter has no light. Shutting the door behind you causes you to be enveloped in pure darkness. Lights may or may not turn on depending. The room will start to transform, as if by magic, into your character's greatest, most terrifying nightmare. You will be trapped in this room until your character can manage to get his/her heart rate back to normal. As soon as you do, the living nightmare will start disappearing until you are left in pitch darkness again.

Then another door will open, revealing a dimly lit hallway with metal walls. The door will shut behind you as you exit the nightmare room. You will soon find that this hallway is not a normal hallway. It is a maze and not a regular maze at that. Along the walls there are window frames with the same indestructible invisible material that surrounds the city. Outside these windows lie emotional memories from your character's past, repressed memories, happy memories, and haunting memories. If you get lost in the maze and come across the same window, it will be showing a different memory. Thus, the windows become nothing more than distractions from navigating the maze successfully.

Once your character can push these distractions aside, he/she can find the white door that is the exit. Beyond this door lies another room, much like the room where the recording spoke to you. There are several other white doors in this room, doors that other characters may emerge from. This will be where people can meet up and continue collaborative writing.

One wall in this room is different than the other white door bearing walls. This wall has two archways. One archway has the words 'To Saftey' engraved in gold letters. Through this archway you see a plesently lit stairwell that leads upward. If your character takes these stairs, you will emerge safely outside the casino through a side door.

The other archway has the words 'To The Truth' engraved in similar lettering. Beyond this archway you can see a hallway filled with barbed wire criss crossing from wall to wall and a bed of red hot coals all over the floor. The further you get down the hallway, the hotter the floor becomes, eventually becoming nothing more than open flames. The barbed wire also becomes thicker as you go, becoming so thick that it is difficult to see through.

If you can make it through this hallway, you will reach a set of stairs that decend downward to another black door.

This is the end of the quest.

Quest Rewards:
1) For every post you make during this quest, your character will receive twice the number of experience points. So don't rush it. Quests are a great way to gain experience points.

2) By completing this quest, you will gain access to a new area in this mysterious world. I will update the plot section of the OOC post to describe this new area as soon as someone finishes the quest.
