Ok this is an update for the GM. My post rate will slow down a little as ive moved flats recently and im waiting for my internet provider to provide service for my flat. I think they might be connecting up fibre optics because they say it will be done by the 1st of March. I'll still probably post, i have an entire 1-2 scenes planned out, it just might not be directly after you post your next update.

Its funny what your character said about getting the art person to do the farm work. In the UK people actually get asked to do that sort of thing more often, some even do it for fun, almost like a vacation. No threats are needed vailed or otherwise. You just sit down to dinner and say to the person oh btw tomorrow id like your help with something. You just need to milk/wash/shear the sheep/cow/pig. I actually worked with a guy who was finishing his art degree, at first i was like 9.9 thinking of all the American steriotypes on the internet, but he then actually turned out to be a really intellegent person with allot of innate understanding of what customers wanted without communication (like he could read their faces or something). The psychology major on the other hand was a bit more... ehh... almost as if the two majors had swapped steriotypes.

05:00am Between Albany and Montreal

The crew of the Rangerover had heard all of the latest news from 3dog.
"Looks like its going to get worse before it gets better" said Stan.
"You know you cant eat rabbits for the rest of your life, right?" he said.
"Yeah i know, they'll deplete your body of vitamins until you eat something else." Said Bradley.
"Do you want to talk to those people?"
"I cant, we dont have a cb radio."
"Sure you can, just connect the bluetooth headset to the radio. It does wireless. You didnt read the manual did you?"
"Should i say something?"
"Hello, Testing, testing.. this is Stan MacStewart with the MacStewart community center upstate from Albany. Were gonna ride out the storm together with the rest of our family here. O-uhm. We cant offer space to anyone not from the clan but tradings always a possibility. Ok, over and out 3dog."

The Cars arrived at Plattsburgh and drove at a steady pace to the Community centre. Down a side road through some forest and there was the school. His mom and dads car were already there. Stan wheeled the Rangerover round and parked it and got out. The glass doors swung open and Jack came out and met the two sons in his embrace. Bradley didnt enjoy hugs but he got one all the same.

"Wheres mom?" Said Stan
"Shes in the kitchen cooking something for the new arrivals" Jack said
"And Ian and the rest?"
"I had a text from them about 2 hours ago, they say their moving upstate slowly with traffic."
Everybody else was exiting their cars and stretching their legs from the drive.
They all had assembled near the group. Stan turned.

"Well I dont go much for micromanagement. You can all decide where you're needed. No jobs for today, just get the food and unload the cars and make yourself at home. Theres some food being cooked up, i suggest you fill your tanks."

With that they all began unloading he cars. Stan turned to Jack. "And ninja?". "Hes in his box in the principals office."
Stan went straight into the principals office. There was a blue box, he went over to its front cage. A very sad and very put-upon "meow" came from the box.
"Hey there ninja, hey there" Stan opened the box and immediately the cat tried to force its face out the gap moving with its full body in the way cats do. "Ok you can come out, but for now you'll have to stay in this room. I'll get you some water." A littl while later and he'd set up his laptop and bose speaker in the principals office. He went to the old principals microphone-speaker system, something which had come with the whole place. He turned on some Music and put the speaker next to the microphone. He then exited the room. The speaker system played a diminished but still recognisable version of the music. He then went out to the parking lot to help with the luggage and boxes. Some of the speakers were present in the parking lot and the music blared out there too.

A little while later and Stan had helped move all the boxes into the kitchen. "I hope you brought plenty of spices." Said Fiona.
"Ah sorry mom, i forgot." He said. "Just as well i didnt." she smiled. "Nice music by the way".

A delicious meal of sweet potato soup with fried onions and bacon bits at the school dinner benches and everyone was talking.

Sandy said "Ive made an inventory of all the medical supplies we have. Im afraid we're really short on some things, i made a list."
Lewis: "If no one else is gonna do it i could stay on the radio and wait for any responses from family on their way up or threedog or something".
Stan: "Sure, go for it, the HAM radios in the principals room, and the speaker system for the schools in there too. You could hook them up. But dont let the cat get out."
Lewis: "You brought a cat?"
Bradley: "Yeah, ninja remember? Couldnt leave him on his own."
Jack: "Wheres the showers in this place?"
Fiona: "I think they're in the sports block, but is there any hot water?"
Stan: "There should be, because as long as the electricity holds out the heaters should be working. And we've always got battery power."

A little later half of everyone had gone to sleep in the cheap creaky aluminum beds. Stan went into one of the classrooms that had been left undefined, he unlocked it. Inside were a load of pelican cases with the weapons in them. He opened one of the smaller ones and took out a PPQ. He charged it with a mag and took another mag and slipped it into his pocket. He then tucked the PPQ into the pants waist of his dark red chino pants. He then left without locking the door on purpose. It was directly opposite the sleeping room so he feared nothing.

He saw that the light was beginning to dawn outside and checked his watch. It was 6am. He then went to the foyer to wait but passed by the faraday room. Brad and Lewis were setting up Lewis's alien ware desktop pc.
"What? Its 6am what are you doing?"
"Cant sleep. Too much excitement." said Lewis
"We're gonna finish that game of Hitman." "Why dont you join us?"
"Nah ive gotta wait to see if anybody else turns up." He then made his way over to the library room. Fiona was sitting in one of the comfortable leather chairs. She was reading something, probably something Buddhist. He waved. Went over and went to select a book from the action section. But he stopped, maybe a little bit too much action for one day. He looked a little further and found "How we evolve ourselves" in the science section. He went book in hand to wait in the foyer and sat on one of the cheap ikea sofas there.

The convoy of MacStewart cars had stopped by the costco and picked up whatever wasnt being bought by someone else, which was surprisingly untouched so far. They had bought as much canned food and food in jars as possible. Lewis sat at the back with a jumbo jar of peaches in syrup on his lap. Bradley sat next to him with his mp3 player connected to the cars speakers, thumbing through the music list.
They were waiting in the traffic moving slowly upstate, possibly to Canada. Stan was behind the wheel of the Range rover followed by Tom in a 2017 BMW 7 Series and Sandy in a Jeep Renegade.

The progress was slow. Bradley hit the music and the next track started.
When they exited the freeway a few miles back some of the people decided they could not stand waiting in traffic. SUVs and off roaders had driven off the sides of the road into pastures and farm land to slowly get ahead. As they approached there was a man and woman by a Chevy impala that was stuck in the mud next to the backed up traffic a man was trying to dig out the sod between his front tires by hand, to no avail. A woman sat on the drivers side door looking unimpressed and worried. A kid of about 10 looked out from the back window.
"Right." Stan flicked on the indicator lights and merged out of the traffic.
"Whats going on?" Said Bradley. "We're gonna help those people?"
"Yup." Stan said matter of factly.
A little while later Stan had manoeuvred the Rangerover in front of the car. They had found a tow rope and attached it. The grateful man and his family had reentered the car and were behind the wheel. Slowly the Rangerover tugged and the car half slid half drove up to the verge of the road again.
Stan put on the sena bluetooth headset. "Stan to Tom. Any chance you could let us merge in front?"
Once they and the car were back on the road. Bradley said "Time for a news update" and switched on the car radio.

"Hello America! My name's Three Dawg! I'll be your post apocalyptic radio host, as the world goes to shit around you! I'll be offering advice, music, news and more every day until I can't broadcast no more, or this whole mess gets sorted out, whichever comes first!"

They listened in silence."That was fast to capitalise on a crisis" Bradley said.
"Hmeh, atleast its gonna keep people calmer." Said Lewis.

The Stronghold:

Stanley looked upon the refurbishments of the newly crowned Clan MacStewart community centre. It had been a long road, longer for some than others. A long awaited inheritance and a dream of forming a community centre to act as a lightning rod for those of the MacStewart Clan, those bearing the name, by relation or association, family, relatives, friends. Stan had elected to form this centre in the new world due to his vision, Scotland and the UK might have been the old MacStewart stomping ground and that is where the clan chiefs were stationed, and it is true that is where their power is strongest. But in America there were far more new MacStewarts, with a fire in their bellies for community and heritage but they were mostly orphaned from the clan chiefs. The chiefs instead choosing to spend money on refurbishing crumbled castles, there was a word for this, vanity projects. The word whistled out between his lips as Stan looked upon the community centre. It was just a shame it was being done during such dark times.
The community centre had been bought land and all buildings using the bulk of the inheritance. It was previously a school built sometime around the 1950s, but due to people moving out of the surrounding area and into the city it had become disused. It had then been bought by a summer camp company due to it facing one of the many mountain lakes, but that had eventually fallen through as well. It had no bunker in the event of a nuclear disaster but it had the next best thing, a gigantic mountain in between it and the city. That surely will protect it from the epicentre. It was fairly out of the way but within driving distance from the main city arteries so people could get there easily. Yes, the children will have fun on the lake while the adults discuss and debate over a cup of coffee. Then Stan remembered and the world went a little greyer. "but what of the future..."
He walked around to the back of the school past the fence to the edge of the water, part of the grass was under water "The lakes flooded again". He had built a water screw power generator into a small burn that came off of the lake. It should provide a constant source of power, and when the lake overfills or it rains, that just means free power for the centre. He then looked at the old campsite, the canoe shelter, the wooden jetty. Someone had thoughtfully left some old canoes there that could probably be repaired. Across the water way in the distance there was a house with its own jetty. Stan wondered who also lived on the lake.
As he walked back passed the playground onto the outside lunch benches that were under an awning he passed the rusted statue of Ben Franklin. He hadnt had it installed, but Ben Franklin was a good sort of chap and it added extra value to the property.
He then entered through the back door to one of the classrooms. It was in a state of disrepair, the paint was peeling and the windows were not insulated, there was litter all over the floor, but it was a start. He then walked into some of the more refurbished parts of the building, the reception area by the new glass double doors, had a new front desk a fresh coat of paint and the most of the rotten wood had been removed. The main reception had been constructed out of brick and mortar and was considerably strong, though some of the rest of the classrooms had been added later. Those were the bits that had stood up better to the test of time.
Stan then ventured into what must have been the teachers lounge. It was covered in metal mesh, wall to wall, like a chicken wire coop. The contractors were finishing stapling it down. A faraday cage is easy to make once you know how, all it requires is a mash smaller than the wavelength you want to keep out, or in, and a ground like a lightning rod. The ground they were using here however was the mains electricity. The place looked a mess but in the event of a CMR or EMP nuke whatever was inside the cage would survive, atleast i hoped. This would be the computer room.
He went back to the main reception and into the next room, one of the classrooms that had been refurbished into a sitting area. There were many leather couches and bookshelves crammed with books he had bought from libraries that were going out of buisness due to the internet. There were books on all subjects and it was a clan tradition that even the earliest discoverers of the clan had remarked that their stone hovels always had a bookshelf in Gaelic their native tongue. This room had new fireplaces too.
He then headed back out to another classroom, this must have been the shop class or maybe the science class. It too had been painted and swept. There in the centre stood the pride and joy of the community centre. A brand new, CNC machine and station. It could cut and shape almost any metal you gave it. The cost of the machine alone was huge and equalled the cost of the Rangerover outside. Sadly there were no steel billets to feed into it. But there were quite a few aluminium billets as these were far cheaper. It was supposed to be rented out to other companies to help pay for its upkeep, but it could equally be used by the Clan to make just about anything that could be designed on computer. And of course there was a huge databank of jobs it could be given.

The location is on the outskirts of Plattsburgh, New York State. It has a rive fed by the ocean and is equidistant to Albany and Montreal. There are mountain ranges and forrests around, but Plattsburgh even has its own airport.

Weapons Systems:

Multi-role Fast raction Carbine M-FRC

Bradley insisted that the 6.8spc was the way to go and that with all the water around a piston system should be chosen because its foolproof. With this in mind he chose the LWRCi Six8 with non fluted barrel. There are 10 of them in store with 3 magazines each. Users are meant to scavange magazines and if they have to fight make use of the 6.8's range. For this reason they are equipped with a Weaver 800364 Tactical 1-5 X 24 30mm Intermediate Range scope with illuminated reticule for twilight operations. A good supply of 6.8 ammunition and reloading tools have also been purchased. There are also 2 suppressors for special purposes.

Undercover Low Training Pistol ULTR

This pistol is designed to be idiot proof in the way the 1911 is. It was actually at Stans insitance that there was a pistol anyone could use. To this effect they chose the PPQ M2, a pistol with a short reset trigger similar to the 1911, but in polymer so its lighter. Its .40 round is heavy enough to peirce car windows and blocks without losing out. Even better is that the .40 uses the same case as the 6.8 which we have reloading tools for. There are 10 of these and each user has 3 13rd mags and 1 11rd flush fit for undercover work.

Fight To Weapon FTW

This weapon was designed with offencive use in mind and, beacause a $600 10mm is hard to pass up. Its made by RIA but it It uses the heavier 10mm round from an incredible 16rd magazine. It will support the full sweet of 1911 upgrades, when the user scavanges them. The 10mm round also uses the 6.8 case as its base, it can even be loaded with the same bullet as the .40, Bradley plans to recycle ammunition by reusing cases and harvesting powder from odd caliber ammo they find through scavanging.

Personal Defence Weapon PDW

This weapon is there to fill all neiches of the camp carbine and personal defence weapon. It can be used to hunt, for self defence and folds down and goes into a bag. There are 10 of these and they all have 3 31rd magazines. They use the .40 hollowpoint and are light and portable. Most users will be trained on these Sub 2000s in preference to the ULTR due to its longer range and higher chronograph.

Multi-role Light Machine Gun M-LMG

This weapon is intended to fill every neich going for self defence. Its technically a piston driven DMR, but it has been given 5 50rd magazines. Two carried by the gunner and two by the loader. Its meant to be light and handy and use all of that .308 and 7.62nato ammuniton lying around. It is equipped with a weaver scope of the same type as the M-FRC and even a silencer. As the purpose of the LMG or SAW is to lay down suppressing fire for the advance and not move, it was decided to give it a silencer to improve survivabiliy. The Sig 716 Gen2 7.62 Nato FDE is actually fairly light as it only has an 16in barrel. This also means it can be used in vehicles kinda.

Light Anti-material Rifle LAR

This rifle is either for long range shots, or for stopping armoured vehicles from assaulting the center. It cant make its mind up. But it is light.

Silent Hunting Platform

This is the ultimate solution to the hunting problem. A compressed air arrow firing weapon, the crossman airbow is quieter and can be reloaded with the same arrow again. It can be realoaded by footpump and can fire 8 shots before being empty. It also fires these arrows at a faster speed than even the fastest crossbow. It is easily able to peirce kevlar. There are 3 of these bows for hunting game in the forrest.

Bird Hunting Platform

This system is for hunting birds and other small game. Its a pump action shotgun of the remington 870 design, however it has solved one of the flaws of reloading the system because it uses magazines. There are 6rds in each magazine. It could be used for self defence ofcourse.

Cloathing systems:

Combat Equipment

The A Tacs FG system was chosen and is one of the best camoflages in the world and matched the woodland environment. Smooth panels were preferred unbroken by lines and edges so as to not give an outline of the operator at mid distance making full use of the camoflage. There is enough equipment to outfit 10 operators aswel as another 10 with armour alone. The armour chosen is DKX because it is water boyant. The skateboard helmets were used because similar to deltaforce in the film black hawk down had realised. No enemy was accurate enough for a headshot and no kevlar helmet with a headshot at cloe range would survive anyway. Its a hard choice but it had to be made. Every vest is equipped with a camel bak fillable waterbladder. Every soldier is equipped with a heated vest to make up for the lack of an outer layer, there are enough of these heated vests for 20 people with 3 recharable batteries each! Each of the 10 men of the fire teams is equipped with a light adjustable weight lifting belt incase of the need to lift heavy objects. They are also equipped with 20 kevlar arm gaurds 10 carbon fibre arm guard and d30 energy absorbing knee guards. There are also Rodel Rosario RESISTOR : ULTRASUEDE armoured gloves with metal knuckles. These serve to break windows. There are enough Merrell light walking boots for 20 people. Lastly there are 100meters of A-TACS FG for cloathing alterations, new suits and repaires. While not shown, each fireteam user is also equipped with a 'Spare Air' 10 minute refillable oxygen tank. This can be used to cross water, in contaminated areas. But the user is told that if they are ever bleeding out they are to immediatly use their oxygen tank as a form of self medication as the oxygen mix is higher than usual, atleast until one of the 4 propper ones can be brought from a vehicle. A side effect of this is to provide a boost to users that are out of breath from long hikes. Each user is also equipped with 2 quick clot patches for bullet and trauma wounds. They are also provided with a epi pen full of adrenaline for the case of finding an unconcious ally. A portable defibrillator and trauma kit are kept in the vehicle at all times. Users communicate to eachother by a sena bluetooth headset with 8 person connection and 2km range.

Casual Wear

Casual wear makes use of the heated vests aswell as Gore tex jackets. The clan tartain is available in trousers for over 20 people for day to day wear. Users are expected to suppliment these basic items with whatever fashion their heart desires.

Riders Equipment

Safety equipment for riders of the electric bikes. Opting for full leathers with additional energy absorbing on the arms and spine provided by the best materials on the market. Which are multiple use to boot. A neck protector and helmet have been provided. There are 2 sets of the armoured gloves also used by the fireteams which will protect the user from losing a nuckle if they skid across the road.

The Architect of the Clan Center and main recipient of the Inheritance. When he was young and still in the UK Stan always wanted to join the British royal marines, he tried to train himself up but sustained an injury to his knee which quickly destroyed his chances. It was during the war in the middle east and Stan had a long time to think over the morality of killing farmers for oil. When the knee injury healed 5 years had passed and he no longer wanted to kill people for a living, he just wanted to look after his family.
Bradley MacStewart (Brother)

Bradley, a mildly autistic young man and brother to Stan. Bradley enjoys mathematics and discussions on the military. Most of the survivalist improvements to the Clan Center were Bradleys doing.

10:30pm New York City.

Stan and Bradley were over visiting Lewis at Tom's house. Brad and Lewis were taking turns playing Hitman while Stan watched.

It was Lewis's turn on the PC.
Agent 47 turned the corner, the security guard was walking in the opposite direction. 47 took out the fibrewire and began to close. Just then a popup appeared through steam on the corner. "Steam..." Lewis groaned and closed it without reading. "Wait holdup" said Bradley. Who had a flash memory. "Lemme see it".

Stieney:
You seen whats happening on TV? Theres some big earthquake and they say YELLOWSTONEs next! Just sending this out to those on my friendlist as ive got friends in central. Stay safe people.

Lewis; "What do you think..."
Bradley turned to Stan "Turn on the TV".
Stanley got up; "Why?" as he reached for the remote.
CNN; -ituation, alerts have gone out through the west coast as the area is buffeted by tsunamis from the Toba super volcano Eruption. California officials said that disaster relief preparations are being deployed after the region suffered 9.5 Earthquakes. Experts say that the Yellowstone super volcano is showing increased signs of stress and the National Guard have evacuated the area around Yellowstone caldera. We now go to our correspondent-

Bradley got up and began pacing about. "My god this is it, this is it, this is it."
Stanley tried to calm him down. "But thats far away from us... Jesus those poor Indonesians." He thought, people often treat poverty as something to be punished and that stupidity is somehow deserved of disasters but that isnt how things actually are. We all started off small once. he turned back to the TV.
They watched in silence as news reports were filtering in of the war over Israel. Stanley's thoughts began to come as a constant stream matching the speed of the new events unfolding. "God, they finally decided to gang rape Israel. Ofcourse Israel will respond with nukes, no way it could stand up in a conventional war. What apartheid state is complete without nukes. The Arabs must know this... but they think while America is busy there will be no one to bail them out. Jesus what about the nuclear winter? That combined with the volcanoes will seriously effect the weather."
Stans phone began vibrating as texts from clan members started filtering in.
"Stan is this for real?"
"Stan im picking up my family and heading straight to Canada. What does the clan say about all of this?"
The last one was from Jack. "Stan im heading to you, stay at Toms place until i get there."
Was this it? He asked himself. Was this the time? Bradley was jittery and Lewis looked worried.
He thought to himself. Super volcano, nuclear war. The thing that most scared him was the part about Russia and the US leaving the UN. He decided. Its a good thing he'd been contacting the Clan members list for such an event in the recent months.
He opened the text function on his phone and selected: To Clan List. List of prewritten messages. "This is an Emergency message. Dear Clan MacStewart members. In light of recent events the Clan community center is now open for those wishing to shelter their families and friends until we ride out the storm, please bring all the supplies you can purchase and carry, the address again is..."

Bradley: "Is that the text? Should we go?"
Stan: "We should go, Lewis, get Sandy and Tom and start loading up the cars." He thumbed the Rangerover keys in his pocket.
Bradley: "What about food? You know we-"
Stan: "We'll stop by the costco as planned, everyone will be scrabbling for the shopping centers. The pro move is the costco. We'll coordinate with Mum and Dad enroute."

Stan then sent out the same message by E-mail and all other forms of communication he had. He included the itinerary list in a second text. The Phone was slow, so he moved to the internet.

At the back of his mind there was something nagging. "If the volcano was thought extinct, why DID it erupt?"
