Bio: Arys is the name she was given when she was turned. She remembers barely anything about life as a human. Little things tug at her memory now and then, but on the whole she doesn't miss her human life and that is a blessing, for her life as a human was wretched and horrendous. Not even her Shellan, the one who turned her, will speak of it. Because of what happened to her in her former life she harbors a great fear of humans, especially males. To the point where she fears males of any species, even sea creatures like sharks, dolphins and whales. Arys loves all of her mersisters, but enjoys time to herself as well. Her favorite pastime is searching the reef for beautiful shells to add to her collection and listening to her sisters sing.
Anything else: Nighttime is her favorite time, especially during a full moon.

Tail: His tail is black as night with silver points at the end of his fluke and several dorsal fins along the back that are actually hidden spikes that can cut flesh like butter
Specific Skill: swords are his specialty. he has two large curved blades that he wields at the same time.
Bio: Savage and violent, Kayn carries more anger than his merbrothers. No one really knows why, not even Kayn himself. All he knows is that blood calms his rage, the more of it the better.
When he was turned, everyone expected him to break off and make his own faction, but he has no desire to rule anyone or anything. His desire for blood and fighting likely comes from his days as a gladiator in the collessium in Ancient Greece. He wants to be a force that everything fears. He is not stupid, but he sees no use for knowledge beyond what can be used to further one's desire for either power or territory. He is the favorite of his faction leader. Once he is turned loose in battle he inspires the blood frenzy in his brothers, causing them to become even more violent. Who knows what, if anything, can calm this beast's rage...?

Centuries ago, a mermaid and a merman feel in love and mated. This was not unusual, but the child was. For this child was different. This child was a true hybrid, having the powers of both it's parents. Growing up, the hybrid grew mad with power and nearly wiped out everyone and everything in the sea. Only by coming together did the merpeople defeat and slay the hybrid. For the good of all, a counsel of both mermaids and mermen decided that their two peoples must remain separated. Love became forbidden. Ever looked up how many cases of 'mysterious disappearances' there are in the world? You should. Those are the ones taken by the merpeople to replenish their numbers. The mers have not bred in centuries. But as a body without a part is incomplete, so is a people. The mermen grew strong and ambitious, becoming great warriors. But having not the wise and gentle nature of the mermaid, they fought amongst themselves for territory and power. The mermaids grew in beauty and magic, but without the strength and fortitude of the mermen they easy marks for the predators of the sea, both animal and human, until they have spent the past century struggling to survive.
And so the centuries passed, the old dying off and the young forgetting the agreements of the past. Now a band of warrior mermen have come to the crystal tropical waters along a string of islands rumored to be the home of a pod of mermaids, determined to either scare the females away and claim the territory or kill them and take it by force.
This is the first time in centuries that the two parts have come together again... And even the Ancients fear what shall occur...

So that is the history leading up to my rp. Did you read it? Hope so cause it's really important. You can make either a mermaid, a merman or a human. Below will be hiders about the different roles:
Mermaids are beautiful and graceful. They have used the centuries to build an amazing underwater kingdom where there is no conflict. They love each other as sisters and look out for one another. Due to their kind nature they have tamed many different kinds of sea life as well as the sea birds that live on the islands. They have also developed an affinity for magic, both water and healing. The downside is that they have never been in battle and have no fighting experience whatsoever. In battle they are fast and agile but that is all they have going for them. If their sisters are threatened they will take up arms, they just won't be that intimidating or effective with them. But they are not to be underestimated either, for they can call upon the sea creatures to aid them if need be.
Behold the badasses of the sea. Mermen are stronger than anything there is, able to rip a giant squid's arms like noodles. They are highly skilled in combat, having spent the centuries fighting each other to hone their craft. They are also smart tactitions and rarely give up once they set about something. They have spilt into various factions and kingdoms so there are more mermen than mermaids in the world. Because really, who could stand against them? The downside is that due to their brutal nature many sea animals flee from them. The ones they use in battle (mainly sharks) are captured and forced to fight with chains and collars. Their strength also makes them slow and not very agile. But once an angry merman gets his hands on you, you are nothing but a fond memory. Mercy to them would be killing you quickly, which they only do if you have proven yourself in battle and they have respect for your skill. Now several bands of mermen have stumbled across a fresh territory in a perfect strategic position. It doesn't really matter that it is already occupied...
Due to this being mostly about the merpeople there will be very few humans accepted. You can be a merperson who used to be a human, but over time you have adopted the ways of your new people and barely remember life on land. If you want to be a human who will be turned into a merperson that is fine but like I said I will only be accepting a few. A freshly turned merperson must be taught the skills of their new people so you will not be an expert fighter or have perfect magical abilities right off the bat.

Now for the part no one likes : THE RULES! *dun, dun du-* Crap, gotta get that fixed... anyway:
1. I am GM. What I say goes. Do not argue with me. You may present your side, but no arguing either with me or other people. 2. No bullying! I MEAN IT! This includes making fun of people's characters who being negative about people. You will get a reminder, then a warning, then you will be barred from the rp. I take bullying in all forms very seriously. 3. No OP characters. I put in pros and cons for both sides here. Use them. 4. Your character can have any kind of tail your imagination can come up with (within reason). Fish, squid, octopus, shark, snake... any sea creature. It can also be any color you want, just keep in mind that if it is something bright and neon then you might have a disadvantage as far as stealth. 5. Talk about fights/attacks before they happen and agree on what you want to happen. This will save people from being attacked too much or feeling like they are being targeted without a chance to input anything themselves. 6. Any sexual situations must go to PM. 7. I reserve the right to add more rules if need be.
