I'm familiar with the general concept of tabletop games like D&D but none of my irl friends were ever willing to give it a shot and I'd love to try this style of game if you guys are open to having a complete newb tag along (I will have questions, sorry). If not no hard feelings, if anything comes of it I'd be happy to just observe and get a feel for things so that I have a better idea for the future.
@Blitzy Sombre characters? Whatever do you mean? 😎

My lips are sealed... but some of y'all could use a cheerful dwarf grandpa in your lives
@Lauder high praise indeed, thank you for the kind words. I actually had a blast writing this sheet and I'm really excited to see how he deals with the dark setting and more sombre characters.
@Lauder first attempt, sorry that the backstory flags for the second half or so but it's 2am and I was keen to get something up for review so that I'd have time to make the edits, kind of ran out of steam so it may read a little more like a list than a backstory.

So assuming around the 150 mark, a 100 year old dwarf would be roughly equivalent to a 50-something human? I was thinking of making my character just over a hundred years old.
@Lauder sorry I'm trying not to spam but I have a handful of Dwarf-related qustions.

1. Is there any difference between the two Dwarven kingdoms you mentioned in the first post or is that also free to be built upon?

2. What did you have in mind for the average life span of dwarfs? Are we looking in the 100-150 ballpark or even further like 200+?

3. It's stated dwarfs don't take kindly to outsiders but what about the other way around? Are they looked at as inferior in any way or just regarded like anyone else?
@Lauderis there a deadline for sheets? Also, is there any more Dwarf lore on the way or is it pretty open for me to play around?
Accidental double post, heck lets call this my CS placeholder.
It's all okay, the magic doesn't really matter I was more concerned with the personality, I was thinking of playing an older more veteran character but I think I might adapt that concept into a Dwarven character where the longer life would make sense (I've always had a soft spot for the little guys) or maybe an Orc. I like the idea of playing a Dwarf and since they're so rare I can imagine a lot of "yep, I'm a dwarf, whoop-dee-f*cking-doo" type interactions, but off the top of my head can't imagine many good reasons to leave the Dwarven kingdoms besides exile. Either way he'll probably fall into the category of being overly friendly, a bit sarcastic, somewhat insensitive and frequently pissing everyone off with his "did i ever tell you about the time I..." stories.
@Lauder my first instinct was to go for an old (60s), slightly mad/eccentric, well-travelled mage with a thousand stories and riddles, but I'm not sure how that would fit with the story setting or if it would be too similar to @Enzayne's character. Thoughts?
