Braiyusalian Elections

After several weeks of debate, fleeting promises, and political espionage the Braiyusalian Elections where at an end. The first man to come out on top was Sir Derric, who won by several votes in a somewhat surprising outcome. Well founded, he was able to get the votes he needed from the common people. Next was Lord Tibost, whose almost extremist reactionary views won him the vote. Some are even calling it a second calling for greatness in Braiyusal, others whisper that it was outside funding that won him his seat. Last was Count Radulf II, the liberal votes had won him a seat. People hope that he will counteract the reactionary views of Lord Tibost, and possibly lessen the conservative grip over the nation and her people.

Several hours after the ceremony, King Rolfe congratulated all three senators on their victory and officially granted them the title Senator, and gave a somewhat cliche speech. “Gathered here today, on April 1st, 1836, the people come to watch three men sworn in by their countrymen. These men shall protect, serve, and honor those who have put their faith into thee, and with that trust bring greatness not only upon yourself, but upon the nation and her people. Braiyusal has given you a chance, do not waste it.” The three senators swore their vows and took their name.

Amazonian Trade

King Rolfe sat quietly in front of the Senate reading a recently recieved message from the Queen of Amazonia. “It seems we may have a problem, though not entirely confirmed, one of our merchant ships carrying Braiyusalian weapons may have been caught by Nehelanian Ships. From what I understand we haven’t found any signs of the ship, it is still possible it may have been shipwrecked by a storm.” The gathered senators sat confused, waiting for Rolfe to finish his thought. “Though not required of you, I come asking advice. You are all educated men.”

The senate for once was quick to respond. Agreeing that it might be best to simply protect Amazonian trade with a stronger fleet. This however didn’t last long, soon came the arguments on how large of a fleet. They didn’t want to attract attention from Nehelenia if they haven’t already, but at the same time wanted to prepare for an immediate threat. King Rolfe interrupted “I’ve decided. We shall send a two first rates, one will lead a small fleet to defend Amazonian trade consisting of 6 Third rates and 3 second rates. The other shall be stationed in the colony in case of an attack by Nehelenia accompanied by 3 third rate ships and one more second rate. Only the first rate and second rate will remain docked however as we can use the third rates to protect other trade along the routes. It will spread our navy thin, but this is a dire situation.”

Several days later the BNV Nicolet and BNV Nicholaus, to first rates accompanied by a fleet of third and second rate ships set sail for the new world. The official statement behind this move was simple “As the world progresses so do the dangers. This is our best chances to face those dangers head on and without fear.”

Colonial Expedition

With the newly found gold in the new world Braiyusal was quick to react. Outposts had begun to spring up in the area, and Braiyusal had begun to trade with the friendly natives reported earlier, and has chosen to ignore the more aggressive ones, but around one hundred men had been stationed in the area in case of attack.

But did my candidate? I mean why I didn't infiltrates a lesser nations government.

You'll find out in my post who actually won. Just wanted to express my disappointment for the poor bishop.
I'm going to get my post up today! Also the Braiyusalian Elections are finished, and sadly the Bishop who wanted to voice the will of the pope in the government didn't win. That would have been interesting to mess around with.
Yes sir. If The Grey Warden doesn't post soon, I'll assume he's gone inactive and his nation will be degraded to a Regional Power and another more active Regional Power will be made a Great Power.

It might be best to at least give him until Wednesday as he mentioned. Mostly as a sign of good faith.
Not following you?

Also the War update will come separately, as those involved PM me back.

I think he means how the great powers had a list of their fleets and a force limit modifier, while the regional powers are kind of left out.

Amazonian Trade Continues

Though cautious at first the Braiyusalian marines eventually left the diplomat in Amazonia with good faith, to deliver the Queen’s message to King Rolfe. By the time news had reached him he was preparing his journey to Zellon. “These Amazonians play a dangerous game making demands.” He then paused for a second. “Fine, as long as he isn’t being used as a slave, I see no harm in leaving him their.” He began writing a letter immediately.

To the Majesty of the Queendom of Amazonia,
I fully accept the terms of your conditions, and would like to assure you that I meant no ill tone towards your people when writing my previous letter. Often trade between the natives of your land ends violently. Our next shipment will contain many weapons, and I hope that by the third we can come up with a suitable payment for dealing with your people.

King Rolfe of House Rolant

When the merchants finally arrived in Amazonia they saw the ashes left behind by cannon fire. The ports of the Amazonian people annihilated, and the dead littered the ground. They eventually headed in further to meet the queen and her people, with a personal recommendation, “Evacuate your coast for several miles, Nehelanian cannons as you can see, are quite deadly. We also came to check up on our ambassador, then we will be off once again.”

Colonial Expansion

The people of Braiyusal are not only merchants, but explorers. With this comes settlements in new lands and places. As of the beginning of the month a group of Braiyusalian explorers have landed in the northern peninsula on the New World’s mainland. Though the temperatures cold, the land was rich in coal and iron. A valuable resource for a such a small nation.

Two new Second Rates set sail

Two second rate ships set sail earlier this week in the beginning of February captained by, Captain Renfry and Robard, both graduated top of their class early last year, quickly rising to the ranks. Captain Renfry aptly named his ship BNV Isolde, after his late mother who died during childbirth. Captain Robard however in a somewhat controversial move named his the BNV Donald after the now retired senator. Though close friends with Sir Donald, some believe this is a move to spite the Braiyusalian Government and king. King Rolfe however refuses to rename the ship as it would ruin ceremonial tradition.

The Braiyusalian Elections

Many noblemen have already began running in the elections, however eight have stood out so far. The first was a man named Earl Symon, a relatively minor count in the southern half of Braiyusal, he has two Castle’s to his name and a few plots of farmland. The man has a strongly conservative background, though has had some liberal leanings from time to time. Next came Bishop Richemanus, the first ever religious man to ever try for senate. Technically he did legally own the land in name, whether the church agreed with this was a different story. Despite this he preaches letting the pope have a say in Braiyusalian affairs, and with many strongly religious Corthide followers he had a large amount of support. Sir Derric, Duke Addy, and Sir Jeremy, each shared similar political views, but had strong support throughout the nation. All three were largely conservative, and supported the king. The only difference was Sir Derric was slightly more isolationist compared the other two, often commenting on how they should remain neutral in all mainland Old World affairs. Count Radulf II was the man with the most liberal support. He wishes to reform the government as a whole, and will do anything to make sure of it. Governor Balin, a man with a small amount of territory in the colonial territory also had a strong run for government. He wished for more representation within the colonies, and more support expanding elsewhere into the world. His political views often leaned between conservative and slightly reactionary. Most notably though is his imperialistic views. Last was Lord Tibost, who owned a village near the coast, and a small amount of farmland. He cried out to return to the glory that once was Braiyusal before the reformation brought upon by King Rolfe. He often argued that at their current rate, the King would meet the same fate as his brother.
HEY LOOK A PREVIEW OF THE UPCOMING SUMMER 1836 UPDATE. Yay for Braiyusal.

Yay \O/

Edit:
Just to make things interesting I’m going to let other nations support a specific senator of their choosing or basically fund them. (up to two, just PM me their name). This will increase their chance of being elected in the government, as well as them becoming more favorable towards your nation politically. (If Theo allows it of course)
<Snipped quote by Flooby Badoop>

So people don't end up with 221 Third Rates, 165 Second Rates and 71 First Rates. That's what it is.

What, pfft. I would...I mean...oh...ok.

Invitation from the Empire of Zellon

King Conrad,
It please me that you are so willing to negotiate trade between our two nations, and must graciously accept this invitation. However, I must inform you that my senate must remain at home.

Sincerely,
King Rolfe of House Rolant

Negotiations with the Amazonians

Conflict between Nehelenia and Amazonia was just over the horizon, and King Rolfe was a man of opportunity. Ever since they lost a trade conflict with Nehelenia 26 years ago, new and old world trade had greatly diminished over the years. This however was his best chance to stop the colonial giant from further expanding into the new world. The phrase “The enemy of my enemy is my friend” came into mind.
Three small trade vessels launched from the colony began their journey to the Queendom of Amazonia. They each contained around 500 small arms each and six artillery pieces, a small number, but it was more of a gift to open up further trade between the two countries. One ship, slightly bigger than the other two vessels housed four Braiyusalian Marines and a single diplomat who carried a message:

To the majesty of the Queendom of Amazonia,
I, King Rolfe of House Rolant, have heard news of your recent capture of a Nehelenian vessel, and I don’t doubt that they have already threatened the sovereignty of your land, but I bring a gift. Weapons of the New World. Keep in mind that this will not be enough to fight off an invading Nehelenian force if they choose to fight you, but I promise more weapons of the like. With my diplomat comes four men trained in the ways to use such weapons. They will teach your soldiers the same.
You may ask yourself what is the reasoning behind such a deal, and I answer with this, trade. We are suppliers, and you potential buyers, and with it the humiliation of a rival. All that I ask is that my men return safely, if they do not then I will cut off any potential trade with your nation, and leave you to your fate.
~Signed
King Rolfe of House Rolant
